1) SUMMARY

Balance, Resonance and Radiance are to be the unified cornerstone of our global spiritual work this coming month. As we all know, where there is no balance, physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually, there is no harmony and the subtle promptings of the soul cannot be heard and felt. Balance is needed more than ever on this world for the Light of Love and Peace to prevail. So many people are so out of balance and so out of touch with their spiritual roots that it is no surprise so much violence, ill health and depravity are being observed. But this is a temporary situation as a new consciousness is dawning and a higher spiritual understanding is gradually gaining ground and influencing more and more people towards finding again their natural balance with the Flow of Life in which all things exist. We are collectively at a crossroad in our epochal evolution from the darkness of spiritual amnesia to the Light of total soul remembrance of our True Universal Nature. A New Earth is slowly emerging from the depths of our immortal Self as we reconnect with the Source of All in us. A new bright future of untold happiness and spiritual Knowingness is forming as we feel out the inner resonance of its already existing manifestation in the All Now Continuum, and adjust our sentient self-consciousness according to its pulling attraction as it moves us all ahead on the Golden Path of Light.

As Light Servers midwifering the emerging new Era of Peace and Love, we are spontaneously responding to this inner call from our future selves in the Continuum and offering the contribution of our resonant field of Love to the many nexuses of Light Servers now appearing in cascading exponentiality all over this sentient living planet. We find and maintain Balance in every waking moment of our lives, and especially more so during our precious moments of global communion every Sunday. We initiate Resonance from the core of our soul being with the perfect Master Plan of the Universal One, ever guiding our steps along the Way back to Source. And once we have achieved inner Oneness with Its Supreme Will, we shine Radiance, as One, encompassing this whole planetary sphere of Life as interlinked nodes in the grid on Oneness Consciousness pervading this beloved Earth Mother and radiating as a permanent spiritual supernova in all dimensions and all directions, so that Thy Will Be Done on Earth as it is in Heaven.

In so being, we act as the Bringers of the Dawn of this New Era of Light now coming to lead us to the Promised Land of eternal Joy, unconditional Love and permanent Peace as it befits the sons and daughters of Omniversal Life. We create the movement that in all souls, however lost and afraid they may still be, will open the hearts and illuminate the Pathways towards this bright New Reality we came here to co-manifest. It is our greatest privilege and honor to have been chosen amongst so many to carry this vital mission and it is with zealous perseverance that we shall continue serving the Light, until all are awaken and have joined in Balance, Resonance and Radiance, for the Highest Good of All.

"When a caterpillar first begins this transformation, an entirely new kind of cell begins to appear inside the caterpillar that scientists call Imaginal cells. These cells contain the imagining or blueprint of a whole new being. At first as these cells appear, they are attacked and resisted by the caterpillar, but gradually as more of these appear, they grow stronger and begin to cluster together to form the first organs of the new creature. Eventually clusters of cells will form extensions of connective tissue that bridge these small groups of cells into a larger form. The old form literally dies, as a new being is born from within the old. This is what is happening to humanity. Every person who carries universal peace in their hearts represents an Imaginal cell. In every nation there are groups of these cells that have begun to cluster together in specific regions to form an organ of peace, and gradually these groups are weaving a web of peace throughout the land."

Soul Radiance

All the frictions, all the uncertainties, all the ills, the sufferings, the fears, the forebodings, the perplexities of life come to us because we are out of harmony with the divine order of things. They will continue to come as long as we so live. Rowing against the tide is hard and uncertain. To go with the tide and thus to take advantage of the working of a great natural force is safe and easy. To come into the conscious, vital realization of our oneness with the Infinite Life and Power is to come into the current of this divine sequence. Coming thus into harmony with the Infinite, brings us in turn into harmony with all about us, into harmony with the life of the heavens, into harmony with all the universe. And above all, it brings us into harmony with ourselves, so that body, soul, and mind become perfectly harmonized, and when this is so, life becomes full and complete.

The sense life then no longer masters and enslaves us. The physical is subordinated to and ruled by the mental; this in turn is subordinated to and continually illumined by the spiritual. Life is then no longer the poor, onesided thing it is in so many cases; but the three-fold, the all-round life with all its beauties and ever increasing joys and powers is entered upon. Thus it is that we are brought to realize that the middle path is the great solution of life; neither asceticism on the one hand nor license and perverted use on the other. Everything is for use, but all must be wisely used in order to be fully enjoyed.

As we live in these higher realizations the senses are not ignored but are ever more fully perfected. As the body becomes less gross and heavy, finer in its texture and form, all the senses become finer, so that powers we do not now realize as belonging to us gradually develop. Thus we come, in a perfectly natural and normal way, into the super-conscious realms whereby we make it possible for the higher laws and truths to be revealed to us. As we enter into these realms we are then not among those who give their time to speculating as to whether this one or that one had the insight and the powers attributed to him, but we are able to know for ourselves. Neither are we among those who attempt to lead the people upon the hearsay of someone else, but we know whereof we speak, and only thus can we speak with authority.

There are many things that we cannot know until by living the life we bring ourselves into that state where it is possible for them to be revealed to us. "If any man will do His will, he shall know of the doctrine." It was Plotinus who said, "The mind that wishes to behold God must itself become God." As we thus make it possible for these higher laws and truths to be revealed to us, we will in turn become enlightened ones, channels through which they may be revealed to others.

When one is fully alive to the possibilities that come with this higher awakening, as he goes here and there, as he mingles with his fellow-men, he imparts to all an inspiration that kindles in them a feeling of power kindred to his own. We are all continually giving out influences similar to those that are playing in our own lives. We do this in the same way that each flower emits its own peculiar odor.

The rose breathes out its fragrance upon the air and all who come near it are refreshed and inspired by this emanation from the soul of the rose. A poisonous weed sends out its obnoxious odor; it is neither refreshing nor inspiring in its effects, and if one remain near it long he may be so unpleasantly affected as to be made even ill by it. The higher the life the more inspiring and helpful are the emanations that it is continually sending out. The lower the life the more harmful is the influence it continually sends out to all who come in contact with it. Each one is continually radiating an atmosphere of one kind or the other.

We are told by the mariners who sail on the Indian Seas, that many times they are able to tell their approach to certain islands long before they can see them by the sweet fragrance of the sandalwood that is wafted far out upon the deep. Do you not see how it would serve to have such a soul playing through such a body that as you go here and there a subtle, silent force goes out from you that all feel and are influenced by; so that you carry with you an inspiration and continually shed a benediction wherever you go; so that your friends and all people will say, -- His coming brings peace and joy into our homes, welcome his coming; so that as you pass along the street, tired, and weary, and even sinsick men and women will feel a certain divine touch that will awaken new desires and a new life in them; that will make the very horse as you pass him turn his head with a strange, half-human, longing look?

Such are the subtle powers of the human soul when it makes itself translucent to the Divine.

Using The Law Of Vibration To Manifest Your Vision

Science and Metaphysics agree. The essence of all things is vibration. Science reveals that everything in the manifest universe is ultimately composed of packets of energy; quantized units vibrating at specific frequencies. Esoteric wisdom reveals that in the beginning, all things were created through sound (i.e. vibration); whether it be the "OM" of Eastern mysticism or the "Word"/Logos of Western spirituality.

Our thoughts, feelings and actions also have their own particular rates of vibration. These vibrations will set up resonance with whatever possesses identical frequency. In other words, your thoughts are inseparably connected to the rest of the universe.

This is why it is so essential to be a close observer of yourself. As you think, feel and act, so you create the primary vibration of your being. This fundamental vibration then creates resonance with identical vibration frequencies in the universe. The result is an attraction of circumstances, people, challenges and opportunities in exact vibrational resonance with your own dominant vibration frequency.

This principle lies at the heart of visualization techniques, affirmations and the whole personal development movement. When you visualize and repeat affirmations, you are helping to tune your very being to a specific vibrational frequency on the inner planes. Once that task is achieved, your mind comes into vibrational resonance with the object of your desires. Being now of the same frequency, this object (or goal) is inevitably attracted into your life.

However, for such methods to work, it does imply that you have changed your core vibration. This is very often the problem AND explanation as to why such techniques seem to fail for so many people. Over the course of many years, your inner conditioning is created from the habitual thoughts, feelings and actions that you engage in. This forms your self-image and creates the level of self-esteem you feel. It shapes the way you conceptualize the world you live in, as well as the way you respond to it. It is how you interpret your life experiences.

If a person simply mouths affirmations or writes goals out, without having touched the deep bedrock of their long-term conditioning, such activities will not have much effect. This is because the dominant vibration has not changed. You cannot go against what your self-image, and your predominant conditioning, say you are.

Thought is where it all begins. As your conscious mind dwells habitually on thoughts of a certain quality, these become firmly imbedded within the subconscious mind. They become the dominant vibration. This dominant vibration sets up a resonance with other similar vibrations and draws them into your life. This is easier to understand if you consider that from the metaphysical view, the whole universe IS MIND.

Hence, to draw what you wish into your life, you should begin with the mind, and make it your primary focus. Most people do things the other way around, and come up with practical techniques to generate their desires, and then go out and try them. However, when these methods are not in tune with your dominant vibration, then you will have great difficulty making the desired results come to pass. You will also feel most uncomfortable if they do. You have trained your mind in a certain way, you have set the thermostat at a certain level, and now you are trying to exceed the limits you have set upon yourself by sheer force.

The trap most people fall into is that they condition their future with expectations from their past. It's like driving with your eyes fixed on the rear view mirror the whole time. You cannot see where you are going because you are too busy looking back on past history. Is it any wonder that, for most people, the future DOES closely resemble the past?!

The problem is that, by focusing continually on what you have become as a result of past conditioning, you guarantee that you draw this same dominant vibration into the future. This is also why your desired future can seem so far away from you. It is vibrating at an alien frequency and hence, in a real sense, it IS very far away.

Instead, you have to first change the dominant vibration within. Once your dominant vibration is in harmony with what you seek, the latter must literally be "attracted" to you without excessive striving! It will seem easy in comparison to what came before. In a very real sense, you have to become what you seek on the inside before you can ever have it in physical reality.

There are several ways to gradually change the dominant vibration of your inner being, and begin to resonantly attract what you seek. One important thing to do is to have a clear vision of your life as you want it to be; completely independent of the circumstances of your present or past. Lack of absolute clarity about their desired future could well be the number one reason why people fail in life.

You are creating something new from the universal intelligence, and drawing it into your reality. You do NOT have to base this upon the past, your perceived weaknesses, or anything else that derives from your limited self-image.

A good way to gain clarity is to write down in detail the attainment of what you seek. What would it look like? How would you feel if you achieved it? What difference would it make to your life? It may take you days, or even weeks, to create this vision, but it is time well spent.
By creating a vision of your desired state and putting energy into it regularly, you use mind power to shape the very stuff of creation. You create this imagined "reality" in your mind to the point where your subconscious actually believes it to be physical reality and goes about making it so. It will attract the circumstances, the people, and the opportunities you need to bring about the vision you have created.

If you are doubtful about this, consider for a moment that you are doing this anyway. The only difference is that you may be unaware you are doing it. If so, your overall vibration is incoherent, and hence your results fluctuate wildly. By becoming conscious, you take conscious control of the creative process and can learn to manifest at will.

Another way to change your vibration rate is to act "as if". If you had already attained what you seek, how would you think and act? Well, start thinking and acting that way right now. Again, this helps to impress the dominant vibration you choose upon your subconscious mind. Again, you have been doing this all your life anyway. Simply take conscious deliberate control of the process from now on. For instance, Cary Grant is known to have said:

"I acted like Cary Grant for so long, I became him."

Taking time to meditate regularly on the truth that all is vibration, seeing this reality in all is myriad guises, will also help reinforce it upon your mind - both conscious and subconscious. You will begin to believe it, and what you believe is what you act upon.

The reason most people achieve very little in comparison to what they are capable of is because they have no vision for the future whatsoever. Focused, single-minded concentration upon a vision you seek to create is what will actually cause it to happen. You have to read your description every day (preferably twice or more), and then vividly imagine it. Begin to live that reality now in your mind's eye, and you make its future manifestation all the more rapid. Do not even worry about how it will happen. Just do your part and let the universe, through the law of vibration, do the rest.

A Method of Attainment

A living insight into the fact of the essential unity of the human life with the Divine Life is the profoundest knowledge that man can attain to. This as a mere intellectual perception, however, as a mere dead theory, amounts to but little, if indeed to anything at all, so far as bearing fruit in everyday life is concerned. It is the vital, living realization of this great transcendent truth in the life of each one that makes it a mighty moving and moulding force in his life.

It is only through this living realization of the essential unity of our life with the Father's life that true blessedness, and even true peace and happiness, can be found. The sooner, then, that we come into it, and thus live the life of the spirit, the better, for neither will they come nor can they be found in any other way, There is, moreover, no time either in this form of life, or in any other form, that we can any more readily come into it, and thereby into all that follows.

And when this fountain of Divine Life is once fully opened within us, it can never again be dried up, and we can rest assured that it will at all times uphold us in peace and bear us on safety. And however strange or unaccountable at times occurrences may appear, we can rest in a triumphant security, knowing that only good can come, for in God's life there is only good, and in God's life we are now living, and there we shall live forever.

There is a simple method which will aid us greatly in coming into the realization we have been considering. So simple is it that thousands and indeed millions have passed it by, looking, as is so generally our custom, for agencies of at least apparently greater power; we so frequently and so universally forget that the greatest things in life are the most simple.

The method is this: wherever you are, whatever doing, walking along the street or through the fields, at work of any kind, falling off to or awaking from sleep, setting about any undertaking, in doubt as to what course to pursue at any particular time, in brief, whatever it may be, carry with you this thought: It is the Father that worketh in me, my Father works and I work. This is the thought so continually used by Jesus, who came into the fullest realization of the oneness of his life with the God-life that anyone who has lived in the world thus far has come into, and it is given because it is so simple. From it each can make his own formula. Jesus' term was "the Father."

Many will likewise find themselves naturally using the same term and will find it becoming very precious to them. Others will find themselves using other terms for the same conception and thought: It is the Father that worketh in me, my Father works and I work. In other words, It is the Spirit of Infinite Life and Power that is back of all, working in and through all, the life and animating power of all -- God -- that worketh in me, and I do as I am directed and empowered by It.

In this way we open ourselves, and become consciously awake to the Infinite Life and Power that is ever waiting and ready to direct and work in our lives, if we will merely put ourselves into the attitude whereby It can work in them. In this way we open ourselves so that It can speak and manifest to and through us. This It is ever ready to do if we will but make for It the right conditions.

By carrying with us this thought, by holding ourselves in this attitude of mind consciously for awhile, by repeating it even in so many words now and then at first, we will find it in time becoming our habitual thought, and will find ourselves living in it without the conscious effort that we have to make at first, and we will in time find ourselves almost unconsciously living in it continually.

Thus God as a living presence, as a guiding, animating power, becomes an actuality in our lives. The conscious presence of God in our lives, which is the essence, indeed the sum and substance of all religion, then becomes a reality, and all wisdom and all power will be given us as we are able to appropriate and use then wisely; if for merely selfish, personal ends, they will be witheld; if for the greatest aid and service for the world, we will find them continually increasing.

With this higher realization comes more and more the simple, child-like spirit. With Jesus we realize -- Of myself I can do nothing, it is the Father within me that doeth His work. In ourselves we are and can do nothing; in God we can do all things. We never can be in the condition -- in God -- until through this higher realization God becomes a conscious, Iiving reality in our lives.

Faithfulness to this simple method will bring about a complete change in great numbers of lives. Each one for himself can test its efficacy in a very short time. It is the highway upon which many will enter that will by easy stages take them into the realization of the highest life that can be attained to. To set one's face in the right direction, and then simply to travel on, will in time bring him into the realization of the highest life that can be even conceived of -- it is the secret of all attainment.

Vision Quest

Going alone into wild nature is an ancient way of connecting with your own soul. Simply being alive and fully present in the moment opens a direct connection to all of Creation which shamans call a state of ecstatic union. If you can feel this even for a moment, it will change your life forever. In the seeming simplest ways is hidden profound wisdom. The gateway is within.

"The vision quest is a spiritual journey to wisdom that has been practiced by people for as long as history can remember. The resulting visions are recorded in cave drawings and described in the oral traditions of cultures throughout the world. Native North Americans believed that animals took vision quests when they hibernated during the long winter months. Christ's forty days in the wilderness was a vision quest. Many of the prayers, meditations, and rituals used by the world's religions originally were developed as vehicles for the vision quest. .. We and the other "moderns" on this planet are perhaps the first people in history not to practice some form of the vision quest as a regular part of our education process."

A powerful Navajo guide came to me in the dreamtime showing me the essence of vision quest. Sitting still with her body curved forward, alone amid endless dunes, the Navajo grandmother sees through the sands of time. Her tiered skirt ripples in the desert wind. Lines etched in her face reveal the sculpting forces of wind and sun. She does not doubt who she is. Confidence radiates out from eyes that penetrate my inner truth. Nowhere to hide, I am drawn into her aura of natural power. She evokes this chant in me:

With Beauty before me, I sit.
With Beauty behind me, I am in the center of life.
With Beauty below me, I am life.
With Beauty above me, I am held in the hand of Creator.

The Power of One - Humanity Decides!

Dear Friends,

Right now we are living in a strange time when there are multiple potential timelines and versions of humanity's future overlapping during a unique window of opportunity that I have called The Deciding Point.

Currently there 'appears' to be three potentials that are having an effect on the mass consciousness. One of these is the future of complete planetary ascension, where the human race will make the evolutionary leap as one into an upward spiral of conscious evolution. This future is guiding us from beyond time and space. The other two potentials represent the kind of fear-based disempowering visions that a lot of people are talking about.

It is time for greater clarity about our personal power to choose the potential that is in the highest good for all. I am going to explain why there is nothing to fear, and why these fear potentials are just an illusion. Please take this in and hold this with me for the sake of all those who are still confused about where the story is going.

Part of the purpose of The Deciding Point is that it gives humans the opportunity to choose the divine plan and take responsibility for our collective energy. These three timelines are actually resonance fields that have appeared inside humanity's collective DNA. For those who have not yet made a choice, or who don't know of their power to choose, the future might appear fearful, or it might appear that there is going to be a reality split where some make the leap and others don't. For those of us who have already chosen the Power of One and the coming revelation of humanity's oneness, there is only one future, and the other potentials are just fear based illusions helping people learn how to take responsibility for their focus.

How do I know this? Why am I not afraid? Several months ago there was not two but three such fear scenarios, affecting part of humanity's consciousness, but because of the incredible work of the forces of peace, love and light, the fear matrix that was creating one of these splits was dismantled. I actually watched that whole fear version of the future dissolve, which further weakened the control structures still feeding the fear that is creating the illusion of the other two. These alternative timelines only exist because of the presence of control structures that are attempting to hijack the future, and the power we give to them through our fears.

Allow me to share an example of how The Deciding Point works as an evolutionary tool. I was sitting with a group of people when I overheard a conversation between a woman and a man about the future. This man was talking all about the plan of the elite to reduce the human population, and the coming of martial law. He was spouting one disempowering fear vision after another, making it sound like our future was hopeless, and I could see that the fear was draining the energy of the woman. In that moment he represented the resonance field of the fear vision of the future, and I realized that I was in the position of representing the resonance field of the aligned world of oneness and planetary ascension.

I began to interject a few comments about the solutions to the world's problems that were awakening within us, and in that moment the woman broke her attachment to the man's energy and claimed back her power. Her whole aura brightened up as we began to talk about the new ideas, and she clearly felt more resonance with the future of oneness. In that moment the man sunk back in his chair and began to contemplate more deeply where he was focusing his attention. The woman had just experienced The Deciding Point, and the choice was clear. She entered the aligned world of oneness and cleared the fear from her DNA.

Only a few weeks ago, a meeting took place with the Ascended Masters on the inner plane in which a decision was made to begin transferring a greater level of manifestation power back into human consciousness. This level of creative power has not been on the planet since the times of the ancient mystery school of Egypt, and Atlantis. This came about because enough people chose to forgive the way such power was abused in the past, and to trust each other with the power. This new level of manifestation power can only be in our chakras when we are aligned with the Power of One, because it is collective power. We have to agree to share the power by holding a focus on empowering others unconditionally. Because of this shift, lightworkers are beginning to claim a level of divine power and manifestation energy that is shifting the balance of power in the world, causing the downfall of the organizations of greed and misplaced power that have tested us to make this evolutionary leap.

It is important to realize that even those who plot in greedy ways will use conspiracy theories and disempowering rumors to their advantage. I hear a lot about secret concentration camps being built, and martial law. Consider this. Just because I dig a grave for you, doesn't mean you have to choose to die, but if I wanted to steal your power and distract you from more empowering choices I might tell you that I am digging your grave so you will fear this potential enough to create it with your thoughts. I don't care how many secret bases are built, there are not enough people involved with any of these distorted plans to make them work. It is we who will challenge everyone to choose the world of oneness if they want to stay in the game. We are aligning now with the power of one, and we will remake the world with our oneness.

Beware of the illusion of an ominous and elusive force of control that feels disempowering. This is an illusion! There are a lot of people who are very emotional right now about fear based secretive things that are not being reported in the mainstream media, but what we also don't see in the main stream media is that the forces of peace, love and light have already achieved victory!!! What is coming is oneness, peace and abundance, and no one can stop it. It is natural for people to fear the change. The old system is coming to an end, but there is no reason to energize a fear vision by spreading rumors about secret concentration camps.

Start spreading the news that the revelation of humanity's oneness is awakening now. Tell people not to be distracted by fear potentials, because the Power of One is here now, and we are ending the fear with the love of one humanity. The Earth is going to be healed from the pollution of the past. The balance of nature is going to be restored. The end of debt is coming. The end of war is near. The angels are about to open a doorway that will allow a greater level of divine intervention than ever before! Its true, we are in for a wild ride, but there is nothing to fear.

Mass flight may spread cholera, measles in Congo

GOMA, Congo – Thousands of people fleeing a new rebel offensive could spread cholera and measles through eastern Congo in a rising threat to the devastated region, relief agencies warned Friday.

Doctors Without Borders said four children suffering from measles have died in the village of Birundule, which the group reached Thursday with a mobile clinic.

The agency is using sport utility vehicles carrying medical supplies, equipment and at least one doctor and one nurse to try to treat some of the tens of thousands of people trying to stay ahead of the fighting.

A rebel offensive against Rwandan Hutu militiamen drove 13,000 people into Uganda on Wednesday and Thursday.

The U.N. Children's Fund said fighting in the town of Masisi on Thursday interrupted measles vaccinations for thousands of children.

"Cases of cholera (are) likely to spread to areas where the population moves," spokesman Jaya Murthy said. "The disease is spreading from frequent movement of people."

Both diseases can be easily prevented and treated but they become killers when people, especially children, have no access to medical care, are short of food and clean water and are crowded in unsanitary refugee camps.

Some refugees have fled three or four times in years of low-level fighting in eastern Congo that intensified with a rebel offensive launched August 28. More than 250,000 people have abandoned their homes since then.

Rebel spokesman Bertrand Bisimwa blamed the Rwandan militiamen for this week's massive flight, saying they were telling people to leave the country.

"They are telling people we are criminals and want to kill them so that they will go away," Bisimwa said.

Renegade general Laurent Nkunda says his rebels are fighting to protect Congo's minority Tutsis from the Hutu militia that fled here after helping perpetrate the 1994 genocide that killed some 800,000 Tutsis and minority Hutus in Rwanda. But his critics contend he is more interested in power and Congo's mineral wealth.

Bisimwa said Friday morning that the rebel army had captured Ishasha, a key town on the Ugandan border.

"We took this area of Ishasha peacefully. There wasn't a fight," said Bisimwa.

Bisimwa said he did not have any information about how many Rwandan Hutu militia have been killed or captured.

The militia, the rebels and Congo's government soldiers all are accused of grave atrocities against civilians.

U.N. peacekeepers have been unable to protect civilians or stop the fighting. The U.N. Security Council has agreed to reinforce its mission in Congo with 3,000 more soldiers and police because the current mission of 17,000 is spread too thin.

It has not been decided whether the additional troops would come from Europe or Africa.

At the Security Council on Thursday, France argued for a stronger mandate to allow the peacekeepers to more easily use force to protect civilians.

A fragile ceasefire has put a stop to the fighting that has devastated the eastern Congolese province of North Kivu since August. But ceasefires have a poor track record in this troubled hotspot. Spasms of violence in the region's decade-long civil war have left over 5 million people dead, making eastern Congo the deadliest battleground in the world today. A quarter of a million have been displaced in this year's battles alone. To make matters worse, there are now reports emerging that tens of thousands of the displaced have begun to flee the camps set up for them by the United Nations and other aid groups, driven away by soldiers' shooting and looting sprees. "These are people who have really suffered over the last eight weeks or so, and this is just the tip of the iceberg," said Anneke Van Woudenberg, the senior Congo researcher for Human Rights Watch, who is currently working on the ground in Goma. GENEVA, Nov 28 (Reuters) – Fast-spreading cholera is "the tip of the iceberg" of what stands to be a major health crisis in Zimbabwe, United Nations agencies said on Friday.

Nearly 400 Zimbabweans have died from the disease, which has infected more than 9,400 people and spread to neighboring South Africa and Botswana.

A lack of clean drinking water and adequate toilets are the main triggers of Zimbabwe's epidemic of the preventable and treatable diarrhea disease that can be fatal, especially in children, according to the World Health Organization (WHO).

WHO spokeswoman Fadela Chaib said there are very few places where people infected with cholera in Zimbabwe can seek medical care, and the clinics that are open have far too few health workers to contain the outbreak.

"Cholera is only the tip of the iceberg in Zimbabwe. The health system is very weak in this country," she told a news briefing in Geneva.

International aid groups are building latrines, distributing medicines and hygiene kits, delivering truckloads of water, and repairing blocked sewers across Zimbabwe to mitigate the cholera emergency.

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has begun delivering food for Zimbabwean doctors, nurses and other health workers who have not been paid because of their country's economic collapse.

"Some of the staff working in the clinics have not received a salary for weeks, and they cannot keep working if we do not get them food," ICRC spokeswoman Anna Schaaf said.

The agency said on Thursday it was doubling the budget of its Zimbabwe office to nearly 13 million Swiss francs ($11 million) in 2009. "The situation in hospitals is catastrophic," ICRC President Jakob Kellenberger told Reuters.

Zimbabwe's inflation is more than 230 million percent. Its economic crisis has caused many public hospitals to close, and most towns suffer from only intermittent water supplies, broken sewers, and uncollected garbage.

The U.N. Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs says that 9,463 people in Zimbabwe have been infected by cholera in the latest outbreak, and that 389 have died.

Cholera spreads through contaminated water used in drinking and food preparation, and poor hygiene. It causes vomiting and diarrhea and can lead to death from dehydration if untreated.

The U.N. children's agency UNICEF said that to stop the current outbreak, Zimbawbwe's water pipes, sewers, and latrines need to be fixed, new boreholes need to be drilled, and water treatment chemicals need to be distributed across the country.

"Without international support, the lives of children in Zimbabwe will remain in grave danger," it said in a statement.
