"Our children and later generations will pay the price of the lies, the violence, the cruelty, the incompetence, and the inhumanity of the Bush administration and the lackey Congress that has so cowardly abrogated its responsibility and authority under our checks-and-balances system of government. We are here to say, "We will not stand for it any more. No more lies. No more pre-emptive, illegal war, based on false information. No more God-is-on-our-side religious nonsense to justify this immoral, illegal war. No more inhumanity." Let's raise our voices, and demand, "Give us the truth! Give us the truth! Give us the truth!" (...) This is a new day. We will not be silent. We will continue to raise our voices. We will bring others with us. We will grow and grow, regardless of political party - unified in our insistence upon the truth, upon peace-making, upon more humane treatment of our brothers and sisters around the world. We will be ever cognizant of our moral responsibility to speak up in the face of wrongdoing, and to work as we can for a better, safer, more just community, nation, and world. So we won't let down. We won't be quiet. We will continue to resist the lies, the deception, the outrages of the Bush administration. We will insist that peace be pursued, and that, as a nation, we help those in need. We must break the cycle of hatred, of intolerance, of exploitation. We must pursue peace as vigorously as the Bush administration has pursued war. It's up to all of us to do our part."

"And what is love? Is it not seeing our most feared enemy as our greatest teacher? Is it not honoring those whose souls have been willing to create the horrendous caricatures of rebellion so that we could finally see ourselves lost and blind and dead while sleepwalking through our dramas? Is it not being thankful for the birth pain that precedes the joy of new creation? Is it not realizing that without darkness, light would have no meaning? Is it not the wisdom of coming to know that the gift of opposites was made so that we would have partners with which to dance…you and I? This piece has been working on me for several days now. I resisted writing it. I struggled at the start. Then it grabbed me, and pulled me in. It brought me to the place where I can’t hate anymore…not even George Bush. More than that, it transformed something deep inside that enables me to see him as the real hero he is. “I’m sorry. I love you.” However, the deed and the person are not identical. He and his cohorts will not succeed in destroying America and creating a New World Order based on greed, secrecy, terror, intimidation, violence, fear, war and a host of other “tools” used in the Great Awakening. (Those tools do not reflect the essence of what humans truly are; they reflect what we are not.) I would hope the reason they will not succeed is obvious by this point. The failure of their imagined goals will not be because we rose up and tried to eliminate the enemy, but because we expanded our consciousness enough to remember how to love again, to remember that we ARE LOVE in all of its Divine Perfection and Wisdom. We now choose, many, many, many of us, to let the ripples of LOVE encompass everyone, everywhere; and in so choosing, the world is transformed, because LOVE heals. LOVE restores balance and harmony. LOVE unifies the soul…and the SOUL. And we ARE like GOD, for we are finally seeing GOD as GOD really is: LOVE without condition. We allow that LOVE to encompass us, individually and collectively."

If we do not find ways to create a world that works for everyone, we are likely to be doomed to fascism or economic collapse. As I have indicated in my manuscript, “Our Culture on the Couch,” (, the key is to shift from a polar orientation to a unitary one."

911-Press for Truth (1 hr 24 min. movie)
Awesome new documentary. This incredibly professional film focuses on the Jersey girls and Paul Thompson, compiler of the powerful book and website "The Complete 9/11 Timeline." The Jersey girls are the four charming, yet determined young women who lost their husbands on 9/11 and became media darlings as they led the push for a truly independent 9/11 investigation, which Bush and Cheney had strongly opposed. In the film, you will discover how deeply disappointed they were with the results of the 9/11 Commission. Their engaging personal stories take you on a fascinating, moving journey to explore what may be the most important day in world history. Recommended by several people.

Hijacking Catastrophe
Hijacking Catastrophe: 9/11, Fear & the Selling of American Empire examines how a radical fringe of the Republican Party used the trauma of the 9/11 terror attacks to advance a pre-existing agenda to radically transform American foreign policy while rolling back civil liberties and social programs at home. The documentary places the Bush administration’s false justifications for war in Iraq within the larger context of a two-decade struggle by neoconservatives to dramatically increase military spending in the wake of the cold war, and to expand American power globally by means of military force. At the same time, the documentary argues that the Bush administration has sold this radical and controversial plan for aggressive American military intervention by deliberately manipulating intelligence, political imagery, and the fears of the American people after 9/11.

Newest crime: DUI of money
The tempo of Bushonian asset seizure quickens, as currency and gold are targeted for confiscation due to the latest ruling by the 8th Circuit Court. A three-judge panel of the Federal Appeals Court in the 8th Circuit has ruled that if a motorist is carrying "large" sums of money, it is automatically subject to confiscation. In the case entitled: "United States of America v. $124,700 in U.S. Currency,"a man named Emiliano Gomez Gonzolez, who the court affirmed had a 'lack of significant criminal history' and was "neither accused nor convicted of any crime" had $124,700 seized which the appeals court has ruled has no recourse to recover his money. The facts of the case are that "on May 28, 2003, a Nebraska state trooper signaled Gonzolez to pull over his rented Ford Taurus on Interstate 80, after which his car was searched and his money was taken from him. The money happened to be the lifesavings of several people, who intended to purchase a refrigerated truck for a produce business. Gonzolez was not charged with the commission of any crime, but his money was charged with being illegal. This was done despite the fact that he was not charged with having garnered or earned that money in any unlawful capacity. Driving with money and/or gold is now a crime in Bushonian Cabalist America. Eventually this case will go to the Supreme Court, and public comments by Justices Scalia et al have made it obvious that the Supreme Court will concur with the 8th Circuit Court in this matter, pursuant to PATRIOT Act powers, being used to increase the scope of Bushonian asset confiscation policies. What's important is that the court did not establish in its ruling any threshold amount of currency that could be seized, leaving that question blank or open to interpretation. Unless the Supreme Court rules otherwise, which is unlikely, the Supreme Court is to affix some monetary amount. CLIP

Deadly Harvest: The Lebanese Fields Sown With Cluster Bombs (September 18)
Lebanese villagers must risk death in fields "flooded" with more than a million Israeli cluster bombs - or leave crops to rot. The war in Lebanon has not ended. Every day, some of the million bomblets which were fired by Israeli artillery during the last three days of the conflict kill four people in southern Lebanon and wound many more. The casualty figures will rise sharply in the next month as villagers begin the harvest, picking olives from trees whose leaves and branches hide bombs that explode at the smallest movement. Lebanon's farmers are caught in a deadly dilemma: to risk the harvest, or to leave the produce on which they depend to rot in the fields. In a coma in a hospital bed in Nabatiyeh lies Hussein Ali Ahmad, a 70-year-old man from the village of Yohmor. He was pruning an orange tree outside his house last week when he dislodged a bomblet; it exploded, sending pieces of shrapnel into his brain, lungs and kidneys. "I know he can hear me because he squeezes my hand when I talk to him," said his daughter, Suwad, as she sat beside her father's bed in the hospital. At least 83 people have been killed by cluster munitions since the ceasefire, according to independent monitors. Some Israeli officers are protesting at the use of cluster bombs, each containing 644 small but lethal bomblets, against civilian targets in Lebanon. A commander in the MLRS (multiple launch rocket systems) unit told the Israeli daily Haaretz that the army had fired 1,800 cluster rockets, spraying 1.2 million bomblets over houses and fields. "In Lebanon, we covered entire villages with cluster bombs," he said. "What we did there was crazy and monstrous." What makes the cluster bombs so dangerous is that 30 per cent of the bomblets do not detonate on impact. They can lie for years - often difficult to see because of their small size, on roofs, in gardens, in trees, beside roads or in rubbish - waiting to explode when disturbed. (...) Frederic Gras, a de-mining expert formerly in the French navy, who is leading the MAG teams in Yohmor, says: "In the area north of the Litani river, you have three or four people being killed every day by cluster bombs. The Israeli army knows that 30 per cent of them do not explode at the time they are fired so they become anti-personnel mines." Why did the Israeli army do it? The number of cluster bombs fired must have been greater than 1.2 million because, in addition to those fired in rockets, many more were fired in 155mm artillery shells. One Israeli gunner said he had been told to "flood" the area at which they were firing but was given no specific targets. M. Gras, who personally defuses 160 to 180 bomblets a day, says this is the first time he seen cluster bombs used against heavily populated villages. CLIP

Israel's Use of American Cluster Bombs

Poisonous clouds of pollution spread after Israel air strike
Lebanese minister says damage was deliberate, causing 'an even bigger disaster than the war itself' By Geoffrey Lean, Environment Editor Published: 10 September 2006 More people will die as a result of pollution unleashed by Israel's bombing of the Lebanon than perished in the month-long war itself, the Lebanese government believes. Yacoub Sarraf, its Environment Minister, speaking exclusively to The Independent on Sunday, said last week that a highly poisonous cloud spread over a third of the country - an area that is home to half its people - from a fire in a bombed fuel tank that burned for 12 days. The same bombing released about four million gallons of oil into the sea, in the largest ever spill in the eastern Mediterranean. He insists that the environmental damage was "deliberately" caused. Experts say that, if this was so, it would constitute a war crime, in breach of both the Geneva Convention and the statute of the International Criminal Court. Israel retorts that any such suggestion is "very ridiculous". The damage began on 13 July, when Israeli rockets hit a fuel storage tank at the Jiyyeh power station 18 miles south of Beirut. The government managed to repair the damage and prevent an oil spill. But two days later, he continued, the rockets returned, not merely hitting the same tank again - just 25 metres from the sea - but fatally damaging its protective burm, a concrete and earth barrier designed to stop any oil spilling from the tank from reaching the Mediterranean. "It was definitely deliberate.," he said. "They did not hit the power station, just the fuel storage, and this was the tank that was closest to the sea." He expects the greatest "catastrophe" from the toxic cloud that was blown by the prevailing wind over Beirut and one-third of the country. Tests have shown, he says, that it contains high levels of poisonous lead and mercury, and highly dangerous PCBs. CLIP

Groups gather evidence of possible Israeli war crimes in Lebanon (Sep 14, 2006)
THE HAGUE (AP) -- Israel's war with Hizbollah fighters opened the door to accusations on both sides of war crimes. But can anyone be prosecuted? Israeli aircraft and artillery killed more than 850 Lebanese during the 34-day conflict, most of them civilians, and left a moonscape of ruin. Hizbollah pummelled northern Israel with thousands of rockets that killed 39 civilians among the total Israeli war dead of 159. Now human rights groups in Lebanon are collecting evidence that could be used in cases filed under a legal principle known as universal jurisdiction, which says that war crimes are so serious they can be prosecuted anywhere -- not just where they were committed. Rights groups and the UN condemned Israel's overwhelming use of force in the aftermath of a cross-border raid July 12 in which Hizbollah seized two Israeli soldiers as prisoners, saying it caused far too many civilian casualties. The UN also has harshly criticised Israel's use of cluster bombs in the last days of the conflict. The world body's humanitarian chief Jan Egeland last month called the cluster bomb attacks "completely immoral." At the request of Islamic nations, the United Nations Human Rights Council in August established a commission of experts to investigate alleged Israeli war crimes -- a move that was denounced by human rights groups and voted against by European nations, Japan and Canada because it failed to set up a similar probe into Hizbollah's deadly hail of rockets. However, the council has no power to punish countries. And despite the international investigation, prosecution by the International Criminal Court in the Hague is considered unlikely because neither Israel nor Lebanon accepts its jurisdiction. CLIP

Video: Fine print on US aid to Israel
Excerpt from video: It's the law that we must give Israel our aid money in one lump sum by January 31st. It is the only country we do this for....all other countries must keep their aid money in the US and withdraw it as needed. Sometimes the US treasury does not have the cash to give to Israel by Jan. 31st so we must borrow the money to give to them. On 3.5 billion USD we then pay 65 million in interest. Israel cannot spend 3.5 billion all at once so then buys US treasury bonds and makes 85 million in interest. Cool, eh?....yeah, if you're Israel... United Airlines, prior to last year's bankruptcy filing, asks the US govt. to float them 1.8 billion to rescue 17,000 American jobs... BushCo refuses saying they don't have it. The next month BushCo "lends'" Israel 10 billion USD (no loan quarantees...and nothing repaid of the Bush Sr. 10 billion "loan") .... reason: their economy is suffering. 17,000 Americans are jobless...... There is a US law (Cranston Amendment) that states that we cannot "loan" Israel a lesser amount than what Israel's annual debt repayment (principal and interest).

If estimates of other, unquantified, deaths - of insurgents, the Iraq military during the 2003 invasion, those not recorded individually by Western media, and those dying from wounds - are included, then the toll could reach as high as 180,000.

Military Orders Suggest Iran Attack (September 18, 2006)
Two recent orders by the American military have led some observers to conclude that the U.S. is preparing for an attack on Iran. One order was a "Prepare to Deploy" command sent to a submarine, an Aegis-class cruiser, two minesweepers and two mine hunters, telling the ships’ commanders to be ready to move by Oct. 1. The other was a request from the Chief of Naval Operations (CNO) for a fresh look at long-standing U.S. plans to blockade two Iranian oil ports on the Persian Gulf. The orders created a buzz within the military because there are few places in the world where minesweepers could be significant – chief among them, the Strait of Hormuz in the Persian Gulf, where about 40 percent of the world’s oil passes each day." Coupled with the CNO’s request for a blockade review, a deployment of minesweepers to the west coast of Iran would seem to suggest that a much discussed – but until now largely theoretical – prospect has become real: that the U.S. may be preparing for war with Iran,” according to a special report in Time magazine. August terror plot is a 'fiction' underscoring police failures (September 18, 2006) IMPORTANT CONFIRMATION!!
Lieutenant-Colonel (ret.) Nigel Wylde, a former senior British Army Intelligence Officer, has suggested that the police and government story about the "terror plot" revealed on 10th August was part of a "pattern of lies and deceit." British and American government officials have described the operation which resulting in the arrest of 24 mostly British Muslim suspects, as a resounding success. Thirteen of the suspects have been charged, and two released without charges. According to security sources, the terror suspects were planning to board up to ten civilian airliners and detonate highly volatile liquid explosives on the planes in a spectacular terrorist operation. The liquid explosives -- either TATP (Triacetone Triperoxide), DADP (diacetone diperoxide) or the less sensitive HMTD (hexamethylene triperoxide diamine) -- were reportedly to be made on board the planes by mixing sports drinks with a peroxide-based household gel and then be detonated using an MP3 player or mobile phone. But Lt. Col. Wylde, who was awarded the Queen's Gallantry Medal for his command of the Belfast Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit in 1974, described this scenario as a "fiction." Creating liquid explosives is a "highly dangerous and sophisticated task," he states, one that requires not only significant chemical expertise but also appropriate equipment. "The idea that these people could sit in the plane toilet and simply mix together these normal household fluids to create a high explosive capable of blowing up the entire aircraft is untenable," said Lt. Col. Wylde, who was trained as an ammunition technical officer responsible for terrorist bomb disposal at the Royal Army Ordnance Corps in Sandhurst. (...) Despite the implausibility of this scenario, it has been used to justify wide-ranging new security measures that threaten to permanently curtail civil liberties and to suspend sections of the United Kingdom's Human Rights Act of 1998. "Why were the public delicately informed of an alleged conspiracy which the authorities knew, or should have known, could not have worked?" asked Lt. Col. Wylde. "This is not a new problem," he added, noting that 'shoe-bomber' Richard Reid had attempted to use this type of explosive on a plane in December 2001. "If this threat is real, what has been done to develop explosive test kits capable of detecting peroxide based explosives?" asked Wylde. "These are the real issues about protecting the public that have not been publicised. Instead we are going to get demands for more internment without trial." Lt. Col. Wylde also raised questions about the criminal investigation into the 7th July terrorist attacks in London last year. He noted that police and government sources have maintained "total silence" about the detonation devices used in the bombs on the London Underground and the bus at Tavistock Square. "Whatever the nature of the primary explosive materials, even if it was home-made TATP, the detonator that must be used to trigger an explosion is an extremely dangerous device to make, requiring a high level of expertise that cannot be simply self-taught or picked-up over the internet," Wylde stated. (...) Lt. Col. Wylde's observations would seem to indicate that the terror-threat narrative is being manipulated for reasons of political expediency.

Syria Says US Behind Attack On Own Embassy (September 13, 2006
Jerusalem, Israel (AHN) - Senior Syrian government official have accused the US of being behind Tuesday's assault on its own embassy in downtown Damascus. A Baath party official, speaking on the condition of anonymity, told WorldNetDaily, "We in the government are 100 percent sure America was behind this attack, which is not the same as other attacks by Islamic groups."He explained, "Only the Americans can succeed in carrying out an attack just 200 meters from President [Bashar] Assad's residence in the most heavily guarded section of Syria." The official charged that Washington had orchestrated the attack to "prove Syria is filled with terrorists and to put us in a weak position" in order to extract political concessions. Following the attack, Bush administration officials said they hoped the incident had convinced Damascus of the dangers of Islamic terror and the need to cooperate with the West against the phenomenon. The US and several of its European allies have repeatedly demanded over the years that Damascus close down the local offices and training camps of several organizations hostile to Israel and the West. The identities of those who attacked the US embassy Tuesday have not been revealed. Three of the gunmen were killed by Syrian guards during the assault. A fourth was reportedly captured.

Colorado Lawsuit Seeks to Ban Computer Voting
Voting on computer screens is so vulnerable to massive fraud that Colorado's November election is "headed for a train wreck," says an attorney who is seeking to have the equipment barred at trial next week. An expert would need just two minutes to reprogram and distort votes on a Diebold, one of four brands of computerized voting systems attacked in the suit, says attorney Paul Hultin.

China's Wealth Woes (Sept. 4, 2006 issue)
With its dollar hoard rising at $17 billion a month and about to pass the $1 trillion mark, Beijing is finding out that it is possible to have too much money - Sometime over the next few weeks, a shipment of lawn furniture, brake pads, lamps or the like is going to make history. The manufacturer, one among tens of thousands churning out product 24/7 in China's humming coast-al cities, will fill an order bound for the United States, take payment in American dollars and add a 12th zero to Beijing's foreign reserve”pushing the tally over the $1 trillion mark. Neither buyer nor seller will realize the transaction's significance, and barring an unforeseen shock to the global trading system, China's reserve will continue to rise by roughly $17 billion a month. Beijing's growing dollar hoard represents the most dangerous imbalance in today's global economy. The United States is both importing heavily from China and borrowing heavily from the country to finance those purchases, pushing the dollar down and putting the two economic superpowers on a collision course. Washington politicians demand that Beijing raise the value of the yuan against the dollar, and Chinese officials have hinted that if pushed too hard they might shift their near-trillion-dollar reserve out of U.S. Treasury bonds, which could trigger a U.S. and global recession. The main thing preventing this confrontation is the fact that both sides have too much to lose. Former U.S. Treasury secretary Lawrence Summers once called this "the balance of financial terror." What has gone widely unremarked is that, increasingly, this balance is threatening China as much as the United States. CLIP

Al Gore | Global Warming Is the Immediate Crisis
Al Gore says, "Many scientists are now warning that we are moving closer to several 'tipping points' that could - within as little as 10 years - make it impossible for us to avoid irretrievable damage to the planet's habitability for human civilization." Gore proposes ending the payroll tax: "For the last fourteen years, I have advocated the elimination of all payroll taxes - including those for social security and unemployment compensation - and the replacement of that revenue in the form of pollution taxes - principally on CO2."

Warming Expert: Only Decade Left to Act in Time (14 September 2006)
"We have a very brief window of opportunity," NASA scientist says. Sacramento, California - A leading US climate researcher says the world has a 10-year window of opportunity to take decisive action on global warming and avert catastrophe. NASA scientist James Hansen, widely considered the doyen of American climate researchers, said governments must adopt an alternative scenario to keep carbon dioxide emission growth in check and limit the increase in global temperatures to 1 degree Celsius (1.8 degrees Fahrenheit). "I think we have a very brief window of opportunity to deal with climate change ... no longer than a decade, at the most," Hansen said Wednesday at the Climate Change Research Conference in California's state capital. If the world continues with a "business as usual" scenario, Hansen said temperatures will rise by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius (3.6 to 7.2 degrees F) and "we will be producing a different planet." On that warmer planet, ice sheets would melt quickly, causing a rise in sea levels that would put most of Manhattan under water. The world would see more prolonged droughts and heat waves, powerful hurricanes in new areas and the likely extinction of 50 percent of species. CLIP

Scientist Who Refused to Be Silenced
Jim Hansen has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to the science of global warming, issuing warning after warning about the consequences for the planet if we do nothing to stop the creation of greenhouse gases. For the past 30 years he has run up against a wall of resistance from politicians and policy-makers who simply don't want to believe what they hear from him.

Polar bears drown, islands appear in Arctic thaw (September 15, 2006)
OSLO (Reuters) - Polar bears are drowning and receding Arctic glaciers have uncovered previously unknown islands in a drastic 2006 summer thaw widely blamed on global warming. Signs of wrenching changes are apparent around the Arctic region due to unusual warmth -- the summer minimum for ice is usually reached between mid-September and early October before the Arctic freeze extends its grip."We know about three new islands this year that have been uncovered because the glaciers have retreated," said Rune Bergstrom, environmental adviser to the governor of Svalbard, a Norwegian archipelago about 1,000 km (600 miles) from the North Pole. The largest is about 300 by 100 meters, he told Reuters. On a trip this summer "We saw a couple of polar bears in the sea east of Svalbard -- one of them looked to be dead and the other one looked to be exhausted," said Julian Dowdeswell, head of the Scott Polar Research Institute in England. He said that the bears had apparently been stranded at sea by melting ice. The bears generally live around the fringes of the ice where they find it easiest to hunt seals. (...) One international study in 2004 projected that summer ice could disappear completely by 2100, undermining the livelihoods of indigenous peoples and driving creatures such as polar bears toward extinction. Smith said the shrinking ice should be a wake-up call for governments to cut emissions of greenhouse gases, mainly from power plants, factories and cars that most scientists say are causing global warming. US Has Been Stockpiling Banned Pesticide
The United States has stockpiled millions of pounds of methyl bromide, a pesticide that depletes the ozone layer, according to newly public documents - information that could create a stir during international negotiations next month, when the Bush administration seeks permission to produce more.

Poisons at Large
While the US lags behind the rest of the world in its failure to ratify two key international treaties regulating the production of persistent organic pollutants and export of toxic waste, global poison traffickers break existing laws - and people die.

Review of "America: Freedom to Fascism"

By Mike Rivero,

I finally received a DVD of the full length movie, and watched it last night.

The short review is that if Fahrenheit 9-11 won the "Palm D-Or", then "AMERICA: FREEDOM TO FASCISM" deserves the whole tree! This is the film that F/9-11 aspired to but failed to be.

Far from the extremist screed that its attackers portray it to be, "America" starts out as a genuinely objective search to find out the reality behind the claims of the Tax Honesty movement. In scene after scene, Aaron Russo tries to get the answer to one simple question; what is the law that requires American workers to pay income tax on their wages and salaries. At every turn, he is rebuffed by IRS officials, with one notable exception. Aaron did secure an interview with former IRS Commissioner Sheldon Cohen who makes the amazing statement that US Supreme Court rulings are irrelevant when it comes to interpretation and enforcement of the IRS code, and moreover chides Aaron for refusing to "believe" that he owes taxes. By this time, Aaron and the audience are convinced that the Tax Honesty people are onto something!

Numerous examples are given of cases against non-filers collapsing in court when the prosecutions are unable to produce the law they supposedly are in violation of. These are juxtaposed against successful prosecutions in which the judges clearly browbeat the juries into accepting at face value what the prosecutors claim. In one frightening case, a Federal Judge rules from the bench that the government is not under any legal obligation to show any laws it claims are being broken during a trial.

Russo then moves into the police state tactics used by the IRS in enforcement actions, detailing how accusation alone (in this case, false) can trigger the complete ruin of the victims' homes and businesses.

Having laid the foundation that the income tax on wages may be as big a hoax as Iraq's 'nookular' bombs, Russo takes his film into the reality of life in America, where far from the freedom we are told we enjoy, one must get the government's permission to do just about anything these days, while the government watches our every move. With the planned national ID card, things are likely to get worse.

This is a film that will probably give nightmares to those who have not been following the nation's devolution here on the internet for the last several years. The film is a convincer, and Russo has carefully laid out the path for his audience, who will be reluctant to see what Russo sees, to follow.

This is a movie you MUST see. This is a movie the government MUST keep you from seeing. Call your local theaters and ask when it will be showing. When enough people call, the film will be booked, because after all, in America, money rules all. - M. R.

CBS News Says: "The scariest g*dd*mn film you'll see this year"
"FOUR STARS" (Highest Rating). The scariest g*dd*mn film you'll see this year. It will leave you staggering out of the theatre, slack-jawed and trembling. Makes 'Fahrenheit 9/11' look like 'Bambi.' After watching this movie, your comfy, secure notions about America -- and about what it means to be an American -- will be forever shattered. Producer/director Aaron Russo and the folks at Cinema Libre Studio deserve to be heralded as heroes of a post-modern New American Revolution. This is shocking stuff. You'll be angry, you'll be disgusted, but you may actually break out in a cold sweat and feel a sickness deep in your gut; I would advise movie theatre managers to hand out vomit bags. You may end up needing one."

Aaron Russo's 'America: Freedom to Fascism' Opens To Sold Out Theaters

Film Grossed approximately $90,000 This Past Week In Test Markets

LOS ANGELES - It was a rush to the box office last week as Aaron Russo's hot documentary "America: Freedom to Fascism" opened in test markets in New York, Chicago, Austin, Tampa and Kansas City. The estimated box office last week was approximately $90,000.

Russo used the test markets to evaluate audience response before spreading it across the country. The film was met with standing ovations and excellent exit polls. Russo feels that the prints could be technically improved, so he has made a decision to pull the film from theaters as of last night (Thursday). He will be upgrading the quality of the prints and releasing the film this September in time for the political season. The film will be released in many theaters across the country.

In Austin, TX the Friday evening show sold out by mid-morning. Chicago's Landmark Century Centre sold out their Saturday evening show so quickly, they had to move it to a larger room.

"I am gratified by the consistent standing ovations that the film is getting throughout America. The exit ratings have been incredibly high," said Russo. "The people of America are eager to learn the truth about how our government functions. It is time for the American people to understand that the Supreme Court has consistently ruled that the 16th Amendment did not give the government the authority to impose a direct unapportioned tax on the labor of the people. The IRS Code does not trump Supreme Court decisions. The Supreme Court has defined income, and it is neither wages nor labor."

The film, which has strong appeal to niche markets, has received phenomenal support from the grassroots and online community.

The money and the years have been spent, the movie has been made, test audiences are raving about it, distribution has been arranged, but I still need your help.

The movie must be marketed and advertised. It must be promoted and supported by TV, newspaper, and radio advertising to get it out to the largest audience possible, to every nook and cranny in America.

The Film

Determined to find the law that requires American citizens to pay income tax, producer Aaron Russo ("The Rose," "Trading Places") set out on a journey to find the evidence. This film which is neither left, nor right-wing is a startling examination of government. It exposes the systematic erosion of civil liberties in America since 1913 when the Federal Reserve system was fraudulently created. Through interviews with U.S. Congressmen, a former IRS Commissioner, former IRS and FBI agents and tax attorneys and authors, Russo connects the dots between money creation, federal income tax, and the national identity card which becomes law in May 2008. This ID card will use Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) chips which are essentially homing devices used to track people. This film shows in great detail and undeniable facts that America is moving headlong into a fascist police state. Wake up!

Ending the Dollar's Tyranny - By Mike Whitney
The dominance of the greenback has created a global empire which is controlled by a small group of corporatists and autocrats who depend on bullying and brute force to maintain their supremacy. The only way to restore the republic is to topple the empire, dislodge the dollar from its lofty perch, and even the playing field with the other currencies. (...) America is now engaged in a transition that has never before been attempted. It has hollowed out its manufacturing sector (more than 3 million manufacturing jobs have been lost since Bush took office) looted its treasury, and plunged the country into irreversible debt. Its major corporations and banks have disconnected from the mainland and operate as sovereign islands protected by the US military and international trade law. They have no allegiance to America and are unaccountable to anyone except their own shareholders. Dollar-hegemony is critical to their ongoing success as it keeps the basic unit of exchange; paper money, in the control of fellow-elites at Federal Reserve. Absent that power, American plutocrats would be unable to perpetuate the system of trading debt (US dollars) for resources and manufactured goods. If Bush succeeds in his global resource war, then countries will be forced to use the dollar regardless of how much debt it has accumulated. CLIP

Subject: MoveOn Message: Oppose Bush pardon for illegal activities: Call 2 Senators

Dear MoveOn member,

This week, Sens. Murray and Cantwell will vote on whether to pardon President Bush for breaking the law by illegally wiretapping innocent Americans. It is critical that Sens. Murray and Cantwell hear from you today. Can you call Sens. Murray and Cantwell and tell them that you oppose pardoning President Bush for breaking the law?

Senator Patty Murray Phone: 202-224-2621 Senator Maria Cantwell Phone: 202-224-3441

Icalled Congress

This week, the Senate is planning to quietly hold a vote that would pardon President Bush for breaking the law by illegally wiretapping innocent Americans without warrants. According to Senator Leahy, the bill would "...immunize officials who have violated federal law by authorizing such illegal activities."1 It is critical that your Senators hear from you today.

President Bush broke the law and the courts are starting to agree. The Cheney-Specter bill would let the administration off the hook for breaking the law by justifying the program. Worse, it makes it legal to wiretap Americans, in secret, without warrants or any oversight whenever the administration wants to.2

The White House is putting a lot of pressure on Congress to pass this bill. Democrats and some Republicans are holding strong against it, but they need to hear from you. Can you call Your Senstors and tell them that you oppose pardoning President Bush for breaking the law?

Washington state is Senator Patty Murray Phone: 202-224-2621 Senator Maria Cantwell Phone: 202-224-3441 ... I hope you will take the time to find your senators numbers and protect the constitution.

Then, please report your call by clicking here:

Many legal experts agree that the president's program to wiretap Americans who have nothing to do with terrorism violates the law. President Bush already has the authority to wiretap suspected terrorists—and we support that. In fact, his administration can tap anyone it likes as long as it gets an OK from a court a few days later.

Congress should be trying to hold him accountable—that's their job. Instead, some Republicans are trying to let President Bush off the hook completely. In fact, the legislation would give the President even more unchecked power.

Here are some quick facts about the Cheney-Specter Bill:

It allows President Bush—and every president after him—to wiretap Americans indefinitely, in secret, without a warrant and without any oversight.3

It effectively pardons the president for any illegal behavior by forcing Congress to concede that he has the inherent authority to conduct the program4—something federal courts, numerous legal experts and many leading Republicans disagree with.5
It completely guts FISA (Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act) which has protected the privacy of Americans against illegal wiretaps for close to 30 years.6
It prevents any legal challenges from taking place in the public court system. Instead, it moves all cases to a secret court, where only Bush administration officials can argue it.7
It would immunize any officials who broke the law in this program from being held accountable in the future.8

Since the program was exposed in December of last year, we've learned that President Bush personally blocked a Justice Department investigation of the program, Vice President Cheney also personally intervened to stop telecom companies from testifying to Congress about it, and a federal court recently ruled the program unconstitutional.9 In an effort to protect himself from further consequences, the president is pressuring Congress to let him off the hook.

Can you call Sens. Murray and Cantwell today?

US War Prisons Legal Vacuum for 14,000

By Patrick Quinn

The Associated Press

16 September 2006

In the few short years since the first shackled Afghan shuffled off to Guantanamo, the U.S. military has created a global network of overseas prisons, its islands of high security keeping 14,000 detainees beyond the reach of established law.

Disclosures of torture and long-term arbitrary detentions have won rebuke from leading voices including the U.N. secretary-general and the U.S. Supreme Court. But the bitterest words come from inside the system, the size of several major U.S. penitentiaries.

"It was hard to believe I'd get out," Baghdad shopkeeper Amjad Qassim al-Aliyawi told The Associated Press after his release - without charge - last month. "I lived with the Americans for one year and eight months as if I was living in hell."

Captured on battlefields, pulled from beds at midnight, grabbed off streets as suspected insurgents, tens of thousands now have passed through U.S. detention, the vast majority in Iraq.

Many say they were caught up in U.S. military sweeps, often interrogated around the clock, then released months or years later without apology, compensation or any word on why they were taken. Seventy to 90 percent of the Iraq detentions in 2003 were "mistakes," U.S. officers once told the international Red Cross.

Defenders of the system, which has only grown since soldiers' photos of abuse at Abu Ghraib shocked the world, say it's an unfortunate necessity in the battles to pacify Iraq and Afghanistan, and to keep suspected terrorists out of action.

Every U.S. detainee in Iraq "is detained because he poses a security threat to the government of Iraq, the people of Iraq or coalition forces," said U.S. Army Lt. Col. Keir-Kevin Curry, a spokesman for U.S.-led military detainee operations in Iraq.

But dozens of ex-detainees, government ministers, lawmakers, human rights activists, lawyers and scholars in Iraq, Afghanistan and the United States said the detention system often is unjust and hurts the war on terror by inflaming anti-Americanism in Iraq and elsewhere.

Building for the Long Term

Reports of extreme physical and mental abuse, symbolized by the notorious Abu Ghraib prison photos of 2004, have abated as the Pentagon has rejected torture-like treatment of the inmates. Most recently, on Sept. 6, the Pentagon issued a new interrogation manual banning forced nakedness, hooding, stress positions and other abusive techniques.

The same day, President Bush said the CIA's secret outposts in the prison network had been emptied, and 14 terror suspects from them sent to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, to face trial in military tribunals. The U.S. Supreme Court has struck down the tribunal system, however, and the White House and Congress are now wrestling over the legal structure of such trials.

Living conditions for detainees may be improving as well. The U.S. military cites the toilets of Bagram, Afghanistan: In a cavernous old building at that air base, hundreds of detainees in their communal cages now have indoor plumbing and privacy screens, instead of exposed chamber pots.

Whatever the progress, small or significant, grim realities persist.

Human rights groups count dozens of detainee deaths for which no one has been punished or that were never explained. The secret prisons - unknown in number and location - remain available for future detainees. The new manual banning torture doesn't cover CIA interrogators. And thousands of people still languish in a limbo, deprived of one of common law's oldest rights, habeas corpus, the right to know why you are imprisoned.

"If you, God forbid, are an innocent Afghan who gets sold down the river by some warlord rival, you can end up at Bagram and you have absolutely no way of clearing your name," said John Sifton of Human Rights Watch in New York. "You can't have a lawyer present evidence, or do anything organized to get yourself out of there."

The U.S. government has contended it can hold detainees until the "war on terror" ends - as it determines.

"I don't think we've gotten to the question of how long," said retired admiral John D. Hutson, former top lawyer for the U.S. Navy. "When we get up to 'forever,' I think it will be tested" in court, he said.

The Navy is planning long-term at Guantanamo. This fall it expects to open a new, $30-million maximum-security wing at its prison complex there, a concrete-and-steel structure replacing more temporary camps.

In Iraq, Army jailers are a step ahead. Last month they opened a $60-million, state-of-the-art detention center at Camp Cropper, near Baghdad's airport. The Army oversees about 13,000 prisoners in Iraq at Cropper, Camp Bucca in the southern desert, and Fort Suse in the Kurdish north.

Neither prisoners of war nor criminal defendants, they are just "security detainees" held "for imperative reasons of security," spokesman Curry said, using language from an annex to a U.N. Security Council resolution authorizing the U.S. presence here.

Questions of Law, Sovereignty

President Bush laid out the U.S. position in a speech Sept. 6.

"These are enemy combatants who are waging war on our nation," he said. "We have a right under the laws of war, and we have an obligation to the American people, to detain these enemies and stop them from rejoining the battle."

But others say there's no need to hold these thousands outside of the rules for prisoners of war established by the Geneva Conventions.

U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan declared last March that the extent of arbitrary detention here is "not consistent with provisions of international law governing internment on imperative reasons of security."

Meanwhile, officials of Nouri al-Maliki's 4-month-old Iraqi government say the U.S. detention system violates Iraq's national rights.

"As long as sovereignty has transferred to Iraqi hands, the Americans have no right to detain any Iraqi person," said Fadhil al-Sharaa, an aide to the prime minister. "The detention should be conducted only with the permission of the Iraqi judiciary."

At the Justice Ministry, Deputy Minister Busho Ibrahim told AP it has been "a daily request" that the detainees be brought under Iraqi authority.

There's no guarantee the Americans' 13,000 detainees would fare better under control of the Iraqi government, which U.N. officials say holds 15,000 prisoners.

But little has changed because of these requests. When the Americans formally turned over Abu Ghraib prison to Iraqi control on Sept. 2, it was empty but its 3,000 prisoners remained in U.S. custody, shifted to Camp Cropper.

Life in Custody

The cases of U.S.-detained Iraqis are reviewed by a committee of U.S. military and Iraqi government officials. The panel recommends criminal charges against some, release for others. As of Sept. 9, the Central Criminal Court of Iraq had put 1,445 on trial, convicting 1,252. In the last week of August, for example, 38 were sentenced on charges ranging from illegal weapons possession to murder, for the shooting of a U.S. Marine.

Almost 18,700 have been released since June 2004, the U.S. command says, not including many more who were held and then freed by local military units and never shipped to major prisons.

Some who were released, no longer considered a threat, later joined or rejoined the insurgency.

The review process is too slow, say U.N. officials. Until they are released, often families don't know where their men are - the prisoners are usually men - or even whether they're in American hands.

Ex-detainee Mouayad Yasin Hassan, 31, seized in April 2004 as a suspected Sunni Muslim insurgent, said he wasn't allowed to obtain a lawyer or contact his family during 13 months at Abu Ghraib and Bucca, where he was interrogated incessantly. When he asked why he was in prison, he said, the answer was, "We keep you for security reasons."

Another released prisoner, Waleed Abdul Karim, 26, recounted how his guards would wield their absolute authority.

"Tell us about the ones who attack Americans in your neighborhood," he quoted an interrogator as saying, "or I will keep you in prison for another 50 years."

As with others, Karim's confinement may simply have strengthened support for the anti-U.S. resistance. "I will hate Americans for the rest of my life," he said.

As bleak and hidden as the Iraq lockups are, the Afghan situation is even less known. Accounts of abuse and deaths emerged in 2002-2004, but if Abu Ghraib-like photos from Bagram exist, none have leaked out. The U.S. military is believed holding about 500 detainees - most Afghans, but also apparently Arabs, Pakistanis and Central Asians.

The United States plans to cede control of its Afghan detainees by early next year, five years after invading Afghanistan to eliminate al-Qaida's base and bring down the Taliban government. Meanwhile, the prisoners of Bagram exist in a legal vacuum like that elsewhere in the U.S. detention network.

"There's been a silence about Bagram, and much less political discussion about it," said Richard Bennett, chief U.N. human rights officer in Afghanistan.

Freed detainees tell how in cages of 16 inmates they are forbidden to speak to each other. They wear the same orange jumpsuits and shaven heads as the terrorist suspects at Guantanamo, but lack even the scant legal rights granted inmates at that Cuba base. In some cases, they have been held without charge for three to four years, rights workers say.

Guantanamo received its first prisoners from Afghanistan - chained, wearing blacked-out goggles - in January 2002. A total of 770 detainees were sent there. Its population today of Afghans, Arabs and others, stands at 455.

Described as the most dangerous of America's "war on terror" prisoners, only 10 of the Guantanamo inmates have been charged with crimes. Charges are expected against 14 other al-Qaida suspects flown in to Guantanamo from secret prisons on Sept. 4.

Plans for their trials are on hold, however, because of a Supreme Court ruling in June against the Bush administration's plan for military tribunals.

The court held the tribunals were not authorized by the U.S. Congress and violated the Geneva Conventions by abrogating prisoners' rights. In a sometimes contentious debate, the White House and Congress are trying to agree on a new, acceptable trial plan.

Since the court decision, and after four years of confusing claims that terrorist suspects were so-called "unlawful combatants" unprotected by international law, the Bush administration has taken steps recognizing that the Geneva Conventions' legal and human rights do extend to imprisoned al-Qaida militants. At the same time, however, the new White House proposal on tribunals retains such controversial features as denying defendants access to some evidence against them.

In his Sept. 6 speech, Bush acknowledged for the first time the existence of the CIA's secret prisons, believed established at military bases or safehouses in such places as Egypt, Indonesia and eastern Europe. That network, uncovered by journalists, had been condemned by U.N. authorities and investigated by the Council of Europe.

The clandestine jails are now empty, Bush announced, but will remain a future option for CIA detentions and interrogation.

Louise Arbour, U.N. human rights chief, is urging Bush to abolish the CIA prisons altogether, as ripe for "abusive conduct." The CIA's techniques for extracting information from prisoners still remain secret, she noted.

Meanwhile, the U.S. government's willingness to resort to "extraordinary rendition," transferring suspects to other nations where they might be tortured, appears unchanged.

Prosecutions and Memories

The exposure of sadistic abuse, torture and death at Abu Ghraib two years ago touched off a flood of courts-martial of mostly lower-ranking U.S. soldiers. Overall, about 800 investigations of alleged detainee mistreatment in Iraq and Afghanistan have led to action against more than 250 service personnel, including 89 convicted at courts-martial, U.S. diplomats told the United Nations in May.

Critics protest that penalties have been too soft and too little has been done, particularly in tracing inhumane interrogation methods from the far-flung islands of the overseas prison system back to policies set by high-ranking officials.

In only 14 of 34 cases has anyone been punished for the confirmed or suspected killings of detainees, the New York-based Human Rights First reports. The stiffest sentence in a torture-related death has been five months in jail. The group reported last February that in almost half of 98 detainee deaths, the cause was either never announced or reported as undetermined.

Looking back, the United States overreacted in its treatment of detainees after Sept. 11, said Anne-Marie Slaughter, a noted American scholar of international law.

It was understandable, the Princeton University dean said, but now "we have to restore a balance between security and rights that is consistent with who we are and consistent with our security needs."

Otherwise, she said, "history will look back and say that we took a dangerous and deeply wrong turn."

Back here in Baghdad, at the Alawi bus station, a gritty, noisy hub far from the meeting rooms of Washington and Geneva, women gather with fading hopes whenever a new prisoner release is announced.

As she watched one recent day for a bus from distant Camp Bucca, one mother wept and told her story.

"The Americans arrested my son, my brother and his friend," said Zahraa Alyat, 42. "The Americans arrested them October 16, 2005. They left together and I don't know anything about them."

The bus pulled up. A few dozen men stepped off, some blindfolded, some bound, none with any luggage, none with familiar faces.

As the distraught women straggled away once more, one ex-prisoner, 18-year-old Bilal Kadhim Muhssin, spotted U.S. troops nearby.

"Americans," he muttered in fear. "Oh, my God, don't say that name," and he bolted for a city bus, and freedom.

Report Criticizes U.S. in Torture Case Panel: Canadian falsely accused (I9/19/2006)
TORONTO (AP) — A government commission said Monday that Canadian police informed U.S. authorities an Ottawa man was an Islamic extremist suspected of links to al-Qaeda — inaccurate information that likely led the Americans to deport him to Syria where he was imprisoned and tortured. The commission of inquiry into the case of Syrian-born Maher Arar exonerated him of all suspicion of terrorist activity and urged the federal government to offer financial compensation. Arar claims he was a victim of extraordinary rendition — or the U.S. transfer of foreign terror suspects to third countries without court approval. "I am able to say categorically that there is no evidence to indicate that Mr. Arar has committed any offense or that his activities constitute a threat to the security of Canada," Commissioner Dennis O'Connor said in a three-volume report on the findings of the inquiry, only part of which was made public.Arar, a software engineer, was traveling on a Canadian passport when he was detained at New York's Kennedy Airport on Sept. 26, 2002, during a stopover on his way home to Canada from vacation in Tunisia.Arar said U.S. authorities sent him to Syria for interrogation as a suspected al-Qaeda member, an allegation he denied. He spent nearly a year in prison in Syria. After his release in 2003, Arar made detailed allegations about extensive interrogation, beatings and whippings with electrical cable in Syrian prison cells.Justice O'Connor also criticized the U.S. and recommended that Ottawa file formal protests with both Washington and the Syrian government over Arar's treatment. The U.S. is already under intense criticism from human rights groups over the practice of rendition of suspects to countries where they could be tortured. Paul Krugman asks, "Why is Mr. Bush so determined to engage in torture?" While George Packer writes, "he reassured the world that the United States doesn't torture prisoners in these 'black sites,' while essentially reserving the right to continue to do so. Washington is a moral swamp. When the chief executive can stand at the presidential podium and make an unabashed appeal for torture, then the American dream is dead.

James Carroll writes: "The White House argument is straightforward: terrorists are such a mortal threat that established due process must be suspended. In particular, the classified secrets of anti terrorist operations must be so closely held that the most basic pillar of jurisprudence - the accused's right to know and respond to evidence - must be discarded. The legislation was drafted by Franz Kafka."

The President Goes to Capitol Hill to Lobby for Torture

Olbermann: Bush's 'rush' to redefine Geneva Conventions may be mostly about 'covering his own backside'

David Edwards - September 18, 2006

Keith Olbermann's Friday broadcast on MSNBC featured a long look at the President's contentious Rose Garden press conference on Friday, dubbing it the "Roast Garden," and then pondered whether Bush's urgency to redefine the Geneva Convention had more to do with "covering his own backside" than anything else.

At a Friday press conference, an animated President Bush tells reporters that the U.S. program to interrogate terrorist suspects will not continue unless Congress creates new legal definitions for Common Article 3 or the Geneva Conventions -- a move that has alarmed some GOP senators and former Secretary of State Colin Powell.

Bush also devoted his Saturday radio address to the issue.

In video of the Friday presser, a visibly angry President raises his voice as responds to reporters' questions.

NBC White House Correspondent David Gregory asks the President how he would react if American officers were interrogated based on another country's own re-interpreted version of the Geneva Conventions. Without answering the question, Bush says, "We can debate this issue all we want but the practical matter is if our professionals do not have clear standards in the law, the program will not go forward."

Further pressed by Gregory for an answer, Bush raises his voice and says, "You can ask this question all you want but the bottom line is -- and the American people have got to understand this -- that this program won't go forward... if there are vague standards applied like those in Common Article 3 of the Geneva Conventions. It's just not going to go forward. Now, perhaps some in Congress don't think the program is important. That's fine."

Afterward, Georgetown University Constitutional Law Professor Jonathan Turley joined Keith Olbermann for a discussion on why the president was in such a hurry to get the legislation passed "his way."

Turley agreed with Olbermann that Bush's primary motive might be in "covering his own backside."

Turley noted that the 14 high level detainees recently transferred to Guantanamo Bay are due to be interviewed by the Red Cross, and that "most people believe that they will reveal that they were subject to water boarding - held under water until you think that you are going to drown - that is undeniably torture under the international standard."

"I think that the Administration senses that there is a lot of trouble coming down the mountain," said Turley.

Global Protests Call for UN Intervention in Darfur

By Paul Majendie - Reuters

18 September 2006

London - Demonstrators around the world staged a day of action Sunday to highlight the war in Darfur, a region of western Sudan where hundreds of thousands of people have been killed and more than 2 million have been driven from their homes.

In New York, a crowd in Central Park estimated by organizers at about 20,000 demanded that the Bush administration pressure the Sudanese government to stop the killings and displacements in Darfur and to allow a U.N. peacekeeping force to enter the country.

"The world must act and it must do so now because time is not on our side," former secretary of state Madeleine Albright said.

In London, Christian, Muslim and Jewish leaders delivered a plea and said prayers outside the residence of Prime Minister Tony Blair, and demonstrators rallied outside the Sudanese Embassy.

A string of protests and events to coincide with a "Day for Darfur" were held in several other European and U.S. cities, in Canada, Cambodia and around east Africa.

In Rwanda, where hundreds of thousands of people perished in a frenzy of ethnic killings, survivors of the genocide called for action.

"In 1994, the world left Rwandans to their fate and a million people were murdered. Today, the world must stop genocide in Darfur," said Freddy Umutanguha. "We survivors stand with the victims in Darfur. We know what it is like to lose our mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, sons and daughters. We know what it is like to lose everything and see all who are dearest to us destroyed."

Governments abroad and humanitarian groups are pressing Sudanese President Omar Hassan al-Bashir to accept a U.N. resolution to deploy more than 20,000 U.N. peacekeepers in Darfur.

U.N. Secretary General Kofi Annan warned last week of "yet more death and suffering, perhaps on a catastrophic scale" if the government in Khartoum does not allow international peacekeepers into the region.

The mandate for 7,000 poorly equipped African Union peacekeeping troops expires on Sept. 30 and Sudan has said they would only be allowed to extend the mission if they remained under A.U. control.

In a counter-protest in Khartoum Sunday to the global "Day for Darfur" events, dozens of Sudanese marched to U.N. offices to oppose new peacekeepers.

A statement by the Sudan Council of Voluntary Agencies said a U.N. force would "only add to the complexity of an already volatile situation" and that funds would be better spent on development, confidence-building measures and peace-building.

As Peace Mission Nears End, War in Sudan Intensifies

By Craig Timberg

The Washington Post

18 September 2006

Withdrawal of African Union troops deepens fears of worsening violence.

El Fasher, Sudan - As the African Union prepares to abandon its troubled peace mission to Darfur, the region is descending ever more steeply into war.

Fresh Sudanese government troops with machine guns slung over their shoulders patrol the streets of El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur state. Helicopter gunships based here rumble off into the countryside almost every day, loaded with rockets. And Darfur's fractured and frustrated rebel forces increasingly are fighting back against government forces.

The intensity of the combat in Darfur, the western Sudanese region the size of Texas, has forced a new flood of civilians to flee their burned and bombed-out villages for sprawling camps on the outskirts of this and other cities. The estimated 2 million people already in such camps are settling in for the long haul, losing hope that they will ever return home.

Hawab Abdallah Osman, 50, said her village about 45 miles northwest of here is now empty. Asked when she planned to return, she said, "Never."

"There is bombing there," she said. "I don't think peace will come."

Hundreds of thousands of people have already died in three years of war, which began when rebels attacked government installations in Darfur. The government responded by sending in army troops and arming a militia, called the Janjaweed, that has attacked rebels and civilians.

The African Union, which launched an ambitious but poorly funded peace monitoring mission in 2004, is scheduled to leave Sept. 30, when its mandate expires.

A proposed United Nations force of about 20,000 - over three times the size of the African Union's - has been blocked by President Omar Hassan al-Bashir, who says it is part of an effort by Western nations to "re-colonize" Sudan.

"We don't want the United Nations back to Sudan no matter the conditions," he said Saturday in Havana, where he was attending an international summit of developing countries.

A cease-fire agreement for Darfur was reached in May but has collapsed in the four months since it was signed in the Nigerian capital of Abuja. The government has repeatedly violated terms prohibiting military flights over Darfur and new troop deployments.

The government also has failed to restrain the Janjaweed, which continues to rape, kill and pillage. Increasingly, the militiamen are doing so while wearing crisp green uniforms, distributed by the government.

Civilians here say militiamen gallop their horses and camels into the camps for displaced people, sometimes within site of African Union troop positions. Rarely have the troops responded with force. In some cases, Darfur civilians, still smarting from deaths of friends and family members, have demonstrated angrily in front of African Union encampments.

"This African Union, if there is fighting, they are running away," said Halima Idriss, 55, gesturing furiously as her orange head scarf flapped in the hot wind of a camp outside of El Fasher.

The African Union's Peace and Security Council plans to review its decision to depart at a meeting in New York on Monday. But with its current mandate and resources, African Union officers express despair about their ability to keep peace when both the government and rebel forces are determined to return to war. Field commanders from the only rebel group that signed May's peace deal say they, too, are likely to resume fighting soon unless the United Nations sends its peacekeepers to Darfur.

Speaking on condition of anonymity, the African Union officers muttered angrily about their failure to enforce calm while expressing greater fears. They used the words "genocide" and "Rwanda" to describe what they expect will follow their departure.

Outside analysts also say that the African Union, while ineffective at peacekeeping, is serving as vital eyes and ears for the outside world at a time when the Sudanese government is making it more difficult for aid groups and journalists to operate here. With the African Union gone, they say, the last buffer will be lost against a bloodier assault in Darfur.

"All predictions are that without witnesses, the slaughter will begin," said Eric Reeves, a Smith College professor who has closely monitored the Darfur conflict, speaking from Northampton, Mass. "As long as the A.U. stays in, they are powerless but they are witnesses."

The African Union pullout would come shortly before the end of the rainy season, when flooded dirt roads typically dry out, allowing full-scale military maneuvering to resume after many weeks of limited mobility for both sides.

John Prendergast, an Africa analyst for the International Crisis Group, said the United States and the United Nations have allowed the Sudanese government to outmaneuver them diplomatically. He acknowledged that the United Nations would have trouble deploying troops over the objections of the government but said tougher actions would persuade officials to allow the peacekeepers.

"If we start acting, they will change their behavior," said Prendergast, speaking from New York, where he was preparing for a Darfur rally in Central Park. "It's very sad that the U.S. has not mustered the political will to head down that path."

Little news of the political maneuvering reached displaced civilians in Darfur. They passed the day much as they have for months, in some cases for years. They took long, dangerous walks into the Janjaweed-controlled countryside to gather firewood. They rode their donkeys in search of grass for the animals to eat. They sought shade from the blistering sun under makeshift shelters made with reeds and plastic tarps distributed by international aid groups.

And they waited for a peace few expect to come.

Idriss, the Darfur woman who said she had lost faith in the African Union, expressed tentative hope that U.N. peacekeepers might do better. If they don't come, she said, she knows what will happen.

"We will lose all the people of Darfur," Idriss said. "The killing is always going on."

Subject: Desmond Tutu On The Arms Trade

By Desmond Tutu

The Independent - September 13, 2006

For many years, I've been involved in the peace business, doing what I can to help people overcome their differences. In doing so, I've also learnt a lot about the business of war: the arms trade. In my opinion it is the modern slave trade. It is an industry out of control: every day more than 1,000 people are killed by conventional weapons. The vast majority of those people are innocent men, women and children.

There have been international treaties to control the spread of nuclear, chemical and biological weapons for decades. Yet, despite the mounting death toll, there is still no treaty governing sales of all conventional weapons from handguns to attack helicopters. As a result, weapons fall into the wrong hands all too easily, fuelling human rights abuses, prolonging wars and digging countries deeper into poverty.

This is allowed to continue because of the complicity of governments, especially rich countries' governments, which turn a blind eye to the appalling human suffering associated with the proliferation of weapons.

Every year, small arms alone kill more people than the atomic bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki put together. Many more people are injured, terrorised or driven from their homes by armed violence. Even as you read this, one of these human tragedies is unfolding somewhere on the planet.

Take the Democratic Republic of Congo, where armed violence recently flared up again, and millions have died during almost a decade of conflict. Despite a UN arms embargo against armed groups in the country, weapons have continued to flood in from all over the world.

Arms found during weapons collections include those made in Germany, France, Israel, USA and Russia. The only common denominator is that nearly all these weapons were manufactured outside Africa. Five rich countries manufacture the vast majority of the world's weapons. In 2005, Russia, the United States, France, Germany and the UK accounted for an estimated 82 per cent of the global arms market. And it's big business: the amount rich countries spend on fighting HIV/Aids every year represents just 18 days' global spending on arms.

But while the profits flow back to the developed world, the effects of the arms trade are predominantly felt in developing countries. More than two-thirds of the value of all arms are sold to Africa, Asia, the Middle East and Latin America.

In addition to the deaths, injuries and rapes perpetrated with these weapons, the cost of conflict goes deeper still, destroying health and education systems.

For example, in northern Uganda, which has been devastated by 20 years of armed conflict, it has been estimated that 250,000 children do not attend school. The war in northern Uganda, which may be finally coming to an end, has been fuelled by supplies of foreign-made weapons. And, as with so many wars, the heaviest toll has been on the region's children. Children under five are always the most vulnerable to disease, and in a war zone adequate medical care is often not available.

The world could eradicate poverty in a few generations were only a fraction of the expenditure on the war business to be spent on peace. An average of $22bn is spent on arms by countries in Asia, the Middle East, Latin America and Africa every year, according to estimates for the US Congress. This sum would have enabled those countries to put every child in school and to reduce child mortality by two-thirds by 2015, fulfilling two of the Millennium Development Goals.

This year, the world has the chance to finally say no to the continuing scandal of the unregulated weapons trade. In October, governments will vote on a resolution at the UN General Assembly to start working towards an Arms Trade Treaty. That Treaty would be based on a simple principle: no weapons for violations of international law. In other words, a ban on selling weapons if there is a clear risk they will be used to abuse human rights or fuel conflict. The UN resolution has been put forward by the governments of Australia, Argentina, Costa Rica, Finland, Japan, Kenya, and the UK. These governments believe the idea of an Arms Trade Treaty is one whose time has come.

I agree. We must end impunity for governments who authorise the supply of weapons when they know there's a great danger those weapons will be used for gross human rights abuses. Great strides are being made towards ending impunity for war criminals. It cannot be acceptable that their arms suppliers continue to escape punishment. No longer should the peace business be undermined by the arms business. I call on all governments to put the control of the international arms trade at the top of their agenda.

Dear Community Activists,

In their new book Impeach the President: The Case Against Bush and Cheney, Dennis Loo and Project Censored’s Peter Phillips write, “Governments do not fall of their own weight; they must be driven out.”

The call for impeachment is gaining momentum, with many important voices sounding the call to hold the administration responsible for their mounting crimes.

Impeach the President: The Case Against Bush and Cheney

By Dennis Loo and Peter Philips

"In these desperate times, when lies and half-truths are official policy, when our young people and innocent Iraqi civilians pay with their lives for these lies, this book is a clear presentation of the crimes of Bush and Cheney. The chapters in this strong, thoughtful collection not only powerfully detail these crimes, they point a way forward for us all. I urge every thinking American to read this book."

—Cindy Sheehan, anti-war activist and author of Dear President Bush

"An airtight case for impeaching Bush and Cheney for war crimes and domestic malfeasance. It's high time for legal regime change!"

—Marjorie Cohn, President-elect, National Lawyers Guild

"An eye-opening, multi-layered indictment of the lawless rule of the Bush White House reactionaries. A well-edited, well-substantiated, an dwell-argued offering of hard-hitting truths that can serve as a manual for political action."

—Michael Parenti, author of The Culture Struggle and Superpatriotism

“A looming, new totalitarianism—that is the warning here. Citizens who feel uneasy owe it to themselves to read this important book and think about how to exercise their responsibilities. Citizenship, truth be told, isn't easy, nor free.”

—George Kenney, former State Department Official

"They can say that Homeland Security and FEMA are on the job, but New Orleans proves them wrong. They can claim they’re winning the war on terror and the war in Iraq, but everyday the facts belie their claims. They can assure us that they’re protecting our civil liberties and doing everything by the book, but nearly every week brings fresh revelations of their lawbreaking."

- From the Conclusion

In the face of the extraordinary and unprecedented threat the White House and its allies present to civil liberties, civil rights, the Constitution, international law, and the future of the planet, this persuasive collection makes the case that a drastically different political dynamic must be created right now.

Impeach the President is a comprehensive analysis of a criminal administration. It unearths the stories behind voter fraud in 2000 and 2004, the overt lies used to justify pre-emptive war on Iraq, the extensive, ongoing commission of war crimes and torture, the tragic failures in the lead-up to and aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, and lesser-known but equally alarming offences of propaganda and disinformation, illegal spying, environmental destruction, and the violation of the separation of church and state. Loo and Phillips chillingly reveal the full threat behind the radical right-wing force that has taken over the most powerful office in the world.

The collection includes a striking introduction by Howard Zinn and contributions from Dennis Loo, Peter Phillips, Judith Volkart, Dahr Jamail, Jeremy Brecher, Jill Cutler, Brendan Smith, Larry Everest, Greg Palast, Nancy Snow, Barbara J. September 11, 2006

S: Good morning, Mash dear! I’m not surprised that you chose today to give me a message to send out.

MATTHEW: Mother, dear soul to me, yes, and what a glorious warm, sunny morning it is! Your first thought as you looked out at the tall fir trees and saw rabbits hopping about was “All’s right with the world.” Then you remembered that today marks two anniversaries—the joyous day of my birth 44 years ago and the shattering events commonly referred to as “9/11.”

Five years ago this day your world was in shock and people of all nations were united in mourning that seemingly senseless, unconscionable act of terrorism. Now voices are rising ever higher, asking for the truth to become known. It will, and when it does, many will experience another shock when all the reasons are revealed. But today there are ceremonies honoring the souls whose lifetimes abruptly ended five years ago and finger-pointing to the “phantom enemy” that caused the tragedy. The hypocrisy in the speeches of those who truly were responsible may enrage you who recognize their complicity, yet there is much more fear in those people than the apparent arrogance. It is true that their greed and power-lusting let them plan and execute those diabolical events, but there is more to this than is understood in your world. Mother, please copy the part of the book with my explanation and the most important words of all, the poignant plea from the spokesperson for the people who died in the burning, collapsing towers. That message, which echoes the sentiments of all of us in this lighted station in spirit, is the most essential for you to hold foremost in your hearts and minds.

[“A Spiritual Response to Terrorism” in Revelations for a New Era].

My thoughts as I stared at the television newscasts that morning of September 11, 2001, were not about the lives lost, but about the people who loved those souls. Having endured the pain of Matthew's sudden death, my heart was with the families and friends of those who had just left Earth so abruptly and horribly. During the subsequent few days, memories of my own long-ago anguish evoked such powerful empathy for all of the people in shock and grief that I didn't even want to ask Matthew what had happened. His answer couldn't have changed anything.

Then, I received an email from someone who knew about my telepathic connection with Matthew. A man representing the group who died in New York City had wakened her, coming to her as sometimes her patients did as they transitioned between Earth and Heaven. He said they want to be known as martyrs for peace, not war; that the terror was from within our country, not outside; and they were requesting a "collective voice" through Matthew.

September 16, 2001

S: Matthew, I’ve just heard from Kalama Hawkrider that a representative of the group who made transition in New York spoke with her and said they would like to have a voice through you. I don’t know if you are aware of this message she received, but if you do have anything you’d like Jean Hudon and Russ Michael to send out, I’m sure they would do that.

MATTHEW: Yes, Mother, I have a message to pass on, and there is something I wish to say from this vantage point. Please, all souls who are receiving “divine” guidance for maintaining love, compassion and peace, do not let up for a moment these heartfelt emotions. This energy will be the saving grace for you and your planet, and in a moment, your beloved family and friends who have so recently come here will speak of this in their words.

All the souls who made transition so abruptly are being tended most lovingly here. Many already are feeling familiarity with this realm and are remembering that they knew this was to happen and they agreed at soul level to participate. But even if that can be believed, it is small comfort to those whom they left in such a shocking and horrifying ending, with no goodbyes for the thousands and thousands of people who love these souls.

Beyond assuring you that peacefulness, tenderness and understanding is enveloping every person who departed Earth then, I want to assure you that despite what appears to be, Yes! the light IS prevailing over the darkness! That is precisely why this evil incarnate has been perpetrated upon your planet. The desperation of the darkness has triggered this seemingly inexplicable agony and inspired the calling for war as “justice for those who died.” But the war actually is to generate even greater and greater negativity on top of that created by global grief in an attempt to dilute and then extinguish the light. These forces want you to be in fear, in hatred, they want you to demand justice through more killing and destruction. These dark forces know that the cycle of violence will increase their pernicious hold in these times of critical choosing between the light and the darkness. And choose you must. And choose the LIGHT, you must!

We weep here. We see the larger picture, indeed, but still we weep. Who could not do that in these days of agonizing sorrow and despair? But know that you must hold fast to feeling love and compassion to an extent that is not understood by most. This is not a nation against another nation. It is not even a small faction of humankind seen as diabolical against other humankind. It is not human elements at all at the root of what happened. It is a power that most of you don’t know exists that caused this madness with such dark intentions that Earth herself is weeping that these powers have descended in their fiery destructiveness.

This will be revealed in time. In the days now, before you can see clearly what is behind the madness, please hold only healing love in your hearts for all humankind and beyond, to all life. Let the God-self in each of you rise into the light instead of letting your conscious self join with the darkness in retaliation, revenge, hatred, more coldhearted killing. Think of the thousands of lives that left Earth in those fiery moments: Let those lives stand for something besides what the dark controllers want—more killing of innocents. Those lives were not taken in innocence, but let them speak out for the innocents! As a collective voice, they are saying:

“Let no more lives be taken. This is the time to keep love above all, for compassion, for bringing healing to the bereaved and injured, for bringing healing to Earth. Please know that the hearts that are hardened into wanting to kill others as their tribute to us -- they need light above all. We petition you from the whole of this realm of Heaven to speak of love, of opening eyes to seeing clearly what is happening on Earth, and rising above the tragedy that has been perpetrated by a darkness you cannot even imagine, where your entire world is expendable. We see this from here. We need you to help the myriad light workers by uplifting your hearts and allowing light to come in, by comforting those in fresh sorrow. You must hear our plea. We are working in the light to assist you, and we are forever bonded with you in love.”

Yes, Mother, I do know that you find it difficult to believe that I was chosen to pass on the message for these souls. I am not alone in this. Nor am I only passing on their collective voice, I also am speaking for the Council of Nirvana and all other souls in this realm. Others are speaking out in other realms, other high stations in the light, and we all are beseeching you to choose PEACE and LOVE.

September 22, 2001

S: Hi, dear. Am I right in thinking that you want to add something to the collective voice message about the September 11 events? We left off abruptly the other day after I received that—I wanted to get it on its way quickly—and you know how busy I’ve been since then with our guest.

MATTHEW: Yes, I do know that, Mother, and I thank you for getting their message out. I know you are uneasy about what has been transpiring and are speculating whether your caring feelings, but lack of deep anxiety, is reasonable or you’re hiding your head in the sand. Your abhorrence at the merciless maneuvers and your sorrow for the grieving families are natural reactions, but fear not only is the opposite of the emotions that will help heal the personal and national wounds, it also would be fuel for an outcome you don’t want.

The events as they have been unfolded for the public view are not the ideas of those men the media are proclaiming as “terrorists”—well, government officials are proclaiming that and the media are echoing it. There are hidden causes and goals, hidden strategies yet to be revealed, and the perpetrators are not those who were so quickly accused.

We understand why many souls there believed without questioning whether reports were complete and accurate or even sounded believable. We understand that acceptance instead of analysis was due to the enormity of the planes deliberately hitting their intended targets and the thousands of innocent lives being in transition almost simultaneously from Earth lifetimes. The emotions of accepting those kinds of actualities are too overwhelming to permit the mental or emotional margin for wide questioning of the obvious weaknesses in the official findings.

S: I have read quite a few reports that blast the official conclusions, so some people definitely are not accepting all of this as it’s being publicly presented. Can you tell me without any wavering at all that the towers would NOT have collapsed if there hadn’t been explosives set off?

MATTHEW: Without an iota of wavering, Mother!

S: WHY???

MATTHEW: The destruction had to be in such unthinkable measure that its horror could be filmed—and there’s a questionable area, why television cameras were present even in early moments—and aired relentlessly in these days ever since. There had to be such shocking loss of life that it overshadowed speculating about the improbability of the towers collapsing due to the stated reasons, or think too closely about how the half-full planes were taken over and flown unmolested into their targets in supposedly safeguarded air space. Has any irrefutable evidence been presented to prove the official conclusions? No, because there isn’t any. Quite the contrary!

The immediate declaration of “This is war!” rather swiftly swerved into the spirit of “patriotism,” and that has caught on fire. This will do just as well to serve the real perpetrators’ interests because it, too, precludes a public outcry for proof of the official conclusions. Those they need to accuse as the monstrous evildoers have to be natural suspects, ones who have been built from ground up through covert and overt means for decades. The dark minds behind this don’t deal with spontaneity. They deal with calculations and strategies developed over decades. If not Plan A, then Plan B. If not the persons originally in charge, then those two or three or four generations later who share the same dark dreams continue to manifest them. This steady march with only the names changing, never the aims, has been proceeding throughout millennia, which in the estimation of the darkness is acceptable and the timetables need not be rigid.

However, the call for war was the purpose from the beginning. The “terrorism” is the fuel needed to rally public support for war. Those thousands of deaths September 11 that were needed to achieve this support are inconsequential to the dark forces, whose nature does not encompass conscience, honor, compassion, love or empathy. The unconscionably brutal attacks that the darkness manipulated through their willing puppets had to be tied into something that could be presented as so pervasive and so fearsome that the whole world wants to eliminate it: global terrorism.

So, that is exactly what the dark forces had to create so that next could come the world’s FEAR of it. Not only can fear generate national and perhaps global unity in a rare instance of agreement, but it creates the negativity that is the foundation and armament of the masterminds of darkness. And that is the real prize. Light cannot coexist with negativity, and fear is one of the most powerful of negative emotions—an opposite of light in vibratory composition—so you can understand why increasing the amount of fear throughout the populace is essential to the plans of the dark forces.

But fear is only their penultimate goal. Total planetary conquest is their ultimate goal. What happened September 11 is really only another strategic move by the dark forces in their ages-old conflict with the light forces as to which force will rule the planet. It sounds like a science fiction plot, like a sorcerer’s tale of diabolical conjuring and treachery, but it is much more real than are any of those steel and concrete structures on Earth.

The peak of the dark forces is not resident upon your planet, and although it can and does manifest in human bodies that look no different from any others there, the civilization’s origin is not human. This force is more accurately considered a force field, or energy mass that has the ability to embody in whatever form it wishes. So long ago as to be lost to all memory except Creator’s, this force left the light and love IN which and OF which it was created, and ever since it has been wounded by the absence of light and love. The only way the wound of that void can be healed is by refilling it with its original ingredients.

But if this force accepted the healing love and light, it would have to forfeit its dark power, and it has not been willing to do that. And so in its tormented and demented journey throughout All Time, it sustains its power by seeking and creating fertile grounds for birthing negative emotions.

Now you can see that it is the influence of the dark forces behind the call for vengeance, revenge, retribution, the sense of “justice” that means more violence and killing. Never will that approach eliminate fear. Never will it eliminate feelings of bitterness, unfairness, deprivation, betrayal. Never will it stop infants from growing up to become martyrs. No, far from eliminating the causes of “terrorism,” those acts refuel the cycle of negativity and insure the survival of the darkness through bloodshed, hatred, terror, anxiety, tyranny, prejudice, insecurity, grief, death, imbalance, deception, corruption.

The dark forces beyond Earth have many minions on the planet willing to do their bidding there, and their weapons are everything that creates negativity. The powers opposing them are the light forces, whose arms and armor are love, compassion and truth.

S: Do you know how this is going to play out?

MATTHEW: We know that God is not going to let your planet be destroyed, Mother. It is not within our province to change the course of events now in motion, but it is within the province of those extraterrestrial civilizations who have been called into action by God to preserve Earth with their technology that can dilute or negate certain types of destruction or pollution. So there is no need to think in terms of mass annihilation by nuclear or biological weaponry. Any talk in those terms is specifically designed to instill fear in the populace, and you know why fear is of utmost importance to the dark forces.

The fact is, from our vantage point, all of the evidence of military might and tough rhetoric shows it is desperation time for the darkness. It is their own fear, recognizing that they are losing their strongholds on the planet, that is behind these brutal assaults on Earth’s people and her very spirit.

October 15, 2001

S: Good morning, Matthew. Please tell me what is happening behind the scenes of this “war on terrorism” and the anthrax scare.

MATTHEW: Good morning, Mother! You use the most appropriate word short of “fear” when you say anthrax “scare.” That is the total purpose—to scare you into believing that these isolated and staged incidences of anthrax “terrorism” in your country are the beginning of global biological terrorism. This is a tactic, a ruse, and the world’s media raving about the fright is designed to start the fear chain reaction that the masterminds of the dark forces desire.

Mother, think about this: The media start talking about the political fears that next the terrorists will wage biological warfare. And next, so quickly as to be amateurishly staged, anthrax does turn up and an innocent soul dies. Subsequently powder turns up on a floor or on a typewriter or in an envelope and through preconditioning, you instantly suspect it of being anthrax spore-laden. On rare occasion it is, but in people’s minds now, any powdery substance anywhere in any miniscule amount instantly is associated with a possible global assault.

If “death to the infidels” is the aim of the terrorists and since death as martyrs is part of their fanaticism, then mass annihilation methods probably would be just fine with them. But to the perpetrators of this fear tactic, that is not acceptable. Anthrax cannot distinguish between the non-human perpetrators disguised in human form and the human DNA strains, nor between the dark forces’ willing human workers and the light beings, so they cannot endanger themselves and their cohorts, and thus only carefully planned isolated plants can be allowed.

This is a multi-thrust effort that needs little staging other than what you have heard about. More incidents may come, but very strategically selected and only enough to keep the fear alive. FEAR is the intent of this, not mass death. Once the fear level has reached saturation, vaccines will be made available so that a plague will not befall those who are thus protected, or so it will be announced. Without antitoxins for everyone, there could be frenzy to get what small supply there is and so fear can be sustained within the majority of the people because they will not qualify for inoculations. But it is the lucky ones who will not make it to the front of the vaccination line.

Mother, it is a diabolical plan, indeed, but in truth, the intent and the results of this anthrax matter are much less harmful long-term than the virtually unquestioned regular ongoing pollution of your air, ground and water from the “chemtrails,” as you have termed this practice of seeding the atmosphere with toxins. All of these vicious acts are desperate measures to extinguish the increasing light or at least diminish the number of souls who are awakening. Fear and frenzy can throw those awakening souls right back into their cocoon of spiritual slumbering, and THAT is the plan, the purpose behind these acts, seen and unseen.

The war is another matter. That, too, is sinister, of course, but it is with the vehemently declared intent to destroy a country, a whole population if necessary, for the good of all other countries. Both the specific country and its people are expendable as it is simply the land, not even required to be habitable, that is the goal. Oil is the further goal, and the land is the pathway to it.

So you have the two opposites in this: the few expendable lives to initiate and perpetuate as long as possible the fear of potentially global biological terrorism, and an entire nation of people who are expendable because their country’s annihilation is to “eliminate terrorism” for the good of the world. The similarities are that both situations are perpetrated by forces that you have no idea publicly are in this at all, and the purpose is the same, the creation of dense negativity. Negativity is swirling from the violence, the killing, the terror of the war’s victims, the grief of their survivors, the fear of the innocents all over your world, the intensifying hatred of those who are accused and hunted.

S: How damaging have the events of the past weeks been to the light forces?

MATTHEW: I cannot say that there has been no damage at all, because the shock, grief, horror and fear that started with the collapsing of the towers has not abated very greatly in this time. However, the additional light that has been pouring in from throughout the galaxy and beyond to shore up the ever-increasing light generated and held fast by light beings of Earth is in greater abundance than before those events.

That is why it is mystifying about the dark forces. Those living among you are superior intellectually and technologically to Earth’s third density humankind, but they are devoid of spiritual comprehension. They are close to having no light in their souls except that spark of Creator’s connection, and this is by their choice as they consistently refuse to accept the light that is continually offered. They do not seem to learn that a godly nature can manifest infinite possibilities simply by being godly, or light-filled. Beings ranging from fourth to seventh density in intellectual, technological and spiritual evolvement also are inhabiting your planet in places beneath, on and above the surface. Many are members of your universal family whom you can thank for generating light and also anchoring vast shafts of light beamed from advanced civilizations off-planet.

There has been confusing talk of a critical mass that needs to be reached before Earth can “ascend.” It is not the number of souls, not a percentage of souls residing on the planet, that constitutes critical mass but rather the degree of light that can be sustained there. That mass has been reached and surpassed, and ascension, however misunderstood, is happening. Earth is in her ascension process, and all souls who have been receptive to the light and been changed from cellular structure on out, or up, are increasing in spiritual clarity by the moment and are ascending with her in spirit.

S: But the complete ascension process is physical too, right?

MATTHEW: Absolutely, and Mother, it is not a journey like any other you can consciously relate to! The physical ascension phase, which will follow the planetary riddance of negativity and the individual souls’ final choices, is not yet on the near horizon, but even in linear time, it is definitely sooner than later. The more souls who awaken soon, the more gentle will be the cleansing to achieve the release of negativity required prior to the physical ascension. The beginning of that phase will be unmistakable—it is planned that it will be preceded by your extraterrestrial friends who eventually will reveal themselves instead of remaining disguised among you as they now must for safety.

The souls who have declined to accept the light will simply not go along. Their physical bodies will die and their soul energy registration automatically will take them to other destinations compatible with their free will choices in the darkness. Also, many millions of other souls whose lives were made unbearably wretched by the few dark souls’ treatment, will leave Earth voluntarily before those days of joyous journeying begin and they will embark upon their own self-selected growth experiencing, perhaps returning for lifetimes in the restored Eden. Many more millions already have left for those reasons.

S: Matthew, can you state unequivocally that if people hold fast to love, compassion, and nonjudgmental attitudes, there is no reason to fear what is ahead?

MATTHEW: Proof far more than my stating so is your serenity and assurance even in the face of the headlines and the TV newscasts. Mother, the answers coming from your soul, which is in touch with the universal mind, the God mind, are your clearest and purest guidance. Always those are the answers to seek.

Will there be moments when you cannot see the light in its abundance, perhaps when catastrophes are ending many lives? Of course, because the “human condition” sometimes lets stress and doubt and anxiety temporarily dim the awareness of the divinity of each self. It is especially in those moments that you need to quietly look within for understanding, because on the surface only the mundane event is apparent and on the soul level, the primary cause and effect are known.

If you asked me to give you one thought so profound and inclusive, so uplifting and inspirational that nothing else would be necessary for you to remember, it is this: Know thy Godself.
