Hello everyone
This is my last compilation before the US elections, with lots of quite astounding, nerve-racking stuff in it.

Could the Associated Press (AP) Rig the Election? (October 31, 2004)
http://www.dissidentvoice.org/Oct04/Landes1031.htm
The Associated Press (AP) will be the sole source of raw vote totals for the major news broadcasters on Election Night. However, AP spokesmen Jack Stokes and John Jones refused to explain to this journalist how the AP will receive that information. They refused to confirm or deny that the AP will receive direct feed from voting machines and central vote tabulating computers across the country. But, circumstantial evidence suggests that is exactly what will happen. And what can be downloaded can also be uploaded. Computer experts say that signals can travel both to and from computerized voting machines through wireless technology, modems, and even simple electricity. Computer scientists have long warned that computer voting is an invitation to vote fraud and system failure. An examination of Diebold election software by several computer scientists, including Dr. Avi Rubin and his staff, proved that secret backdoors can be built into computer programs that allow votes to be easily manipulated without detection. ES&S, the nation's largest voting machine company that will reportedly count 50% of all votes, describe on their webpage how "accessible" their results are, "At ES&S, we know election administrators and the public want fast and accurate election results. That is why we have developed several election management system software solutions to make the reporting process easier, more reliable, and more accessible." Diebold, the second largest voting machine company, advertises a similar service. Both ES&S and Diebold have close ties to the Republican Party. But, can't the AP be trusted? Isn't it an objective non-partisan news organization? Some say no. The AP is batting for a Bush presidency. CLIP
Republicans Pressed To Halt Voter-Suppression Efforts (29 October 2004)
http://us.oneworld.net/article/view/96983/1/
Washington, D.C., - With political analysts agreeing that voter turnout, especially of minority and youth voters, will likely determine the outcome of next Tuesday's presidential election, civil and human rights groups are pressing the Republican National Committee (RNC) to call off plans aimed at discouraging people from casting ballots. (...) "In light of the widespread disenfranchisement of minority voters in 2000, it is more important than ever that this November's election proceed smoothly and equitably," said Henderson. Those concerns were also echoed Thursday when an independent group of international election observers sponsored by California-based Global Exchange complained that election officials in two Ohio and three Florida counties have refused requests by the delegation to observe at polling cites and tabulation centers.
Legal Battles Loom in Seven Key States (28 October 2004)
http://www.truthout.org/docs_04/103104D.shtml
Election Day is less than a week away, but Americans may not know the winner for days, if not weeks, after the polls close. Never before have states faced so many ballots that won't be counted until after Election Day. This year will see the first nationwide use of provisional ballots, for voters whose eligibility is questioned at the polls. How those ballots are counted has already been a matter of dispute. And with participation expected to be high, states are bracing for an unprecedented number of absentee, early-voting, military and overseas ballots that in some states could total more than one-third of votes. Vote for a Man, Not a Puppet (31 October 2004)
http://reese.king-online.com/Reese_20040521/index.php
Americans should realize that if they vote for President Bush's re-election, they are really voting for the architects of war - Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld, Paul Wolfowitz and the rest of that cabal of neoconservative ideologues and their corporate backers. I have sadly come to the conclusion that President Bush is merely a frontman, an empty suit, who is manipulated by the people in his administration. Bush has the most dangerously simplistic view of the world of any president in my memory. It's no wonder the president avoids press conferences like the plague. Take away his cue cards and he can barely talk. Americans should be embarrassed that an Arab king (Abdullah of Jordan) spoke more fluently and articulately in English than our own president at their joint press conference recently.

Osama bin Laden supports Bush Reelection (31 October 2004)
http://globalresearch.ca/articles/CHO410B.html
(...) While the election will no doubt proceed as planned, the Osama statement will be used to trigger an atmosphere of fear and intimidation on election day. Moreover, as suggested by Michael Kane in a recent article , several Election Day 'Terror Drills" held under FEMA and State and Municipal auspices have already been envisaged. In other words, the Osama tape will most likely trigger routine police and security operations under the existing Orange alert in NYC, Washington DC and northern New Jersey, in accordance with HSD guidelines. Elsewhere around the country, we can expect various responses an initiatives by State and municipal police authorities, who have already been briefed by the HSD. Moreover, despite Tom Ridge's October 30 statement, there is nothing which prevents the HSD from raising the alert level to Orange in selected cities across the country, in coordination with the FBI and local police authorities. In other words, the likely scenario (i.e. hidden agenda) is that the election will proceed as planned, but in an atmosphere of fear and chaos. (...) The hidden agenda underlying the Osama videotape is to instill fear and disrupt the election process, creating an atmosphere which further facilitates electoral fraud and voting irregularities. It is the chaos created by the terror threat which the Bush people are betting on. (...) The tape has all the appearances of an intelligence operation. The address is carefully scripted as an "Osama address to the American people". It contains very explicit references to the 9/11 attacks. It is full of catch phrases: striking the towers, Manhattan, etc. In fact the video came replete with an English-language translation and transcript, when it was sent to Al Jazeera. Who wrote it? In a TV interview on Larry King Live, veteran (retired) CBS anchorman, Walter Cronkite, intimated that Bush political strategist Karl Rove was behind the tape. (...) Meanwhile, the war in Iraq has been shoved to the background. It has been overshadowed by Osama. It is no longer an election issue.
Colin Powell Believes U.S. is Losing Iraq war (31 October 2004)
http://www.truthout.org/docs_04/110104V.shtml
Secretary of State Colin Powell has privately confided to friends in recent weeks that the Iraqi insurgents are winning the war, according to Newsweek. The insurgents have succeeded in infiltrating Iraqi forces "from top to bottom," a senior Iraqi official tells Newsweek in tomorrows issue of the magazine, "from decision making to the lower levels." This is a particularly troubling development for the U.S. military, as it prepares to launch an all-out assault on the insurgent strongholds of Fallujah and Ramadi, since U.S. Marines were counting on the newly trained Iraqi forces to assist in the assault. Newsweek reports that "American military trainers have been frantically trying to assemble sufficient Iraqi troops" to fight alongside them and that they are "praying that the soldiers perform better than last April, when two battalions of poorly trained Iraqi Army soldiers refused to fight." If the Fallujah offensive fails, Newsweek grimly predicts, "then the American president will find himself in a deepening quagmire on Inauguration Day."
Drought Threatening The Lives Of Some 4 Million People In Southeastern Ethiopia
http://www.planetsave.com/ViewStory.asp?ID=5406
ADDIS ABABA, Ethiopia (AP) _ Four years of successive rain failures in southeastern Ethiopia have set off a drought that is threatening the lives of four million people, the United Nations warned Thursday. The first unconfirmed reports of deaths from water shortages were beginning to emerge from Ethiopia's Somali region and local authorities have warned that ''panic'' was beginning to set in among communities who fear suffering on the scale of the 2000 drought, said a joint U.N. report on the emergency. An estimated 50,000 people died in the region in 2000, many from diseases like measles that preyed on weakened children, said aid agencies that were involved in relief efforts. ''The Somali region is declining into a crisis situation, with some districts already in a state of emergency,'' said the report compiled by a team that spent nine days in the region to assess the situation. ''There is widespread suffering.'' The Somali region, an area the size of Britain with a population of four million, is one of the driest and most inhospitable in Ethiopia.Regional authorities were not prepared to cope with an emergency and relief efforts are hampered by the fact that few aid agencies operate in the region, the U.N. said. There were widespread livestock deaths in the region and food aid was not getting to communities in need, said the eight-member team. Vital distributions were "late, inconsistent or nonexistent,'' the U.N. said. It added that families are pulling children out of school to help in the search for water, the U.N. said. Ethiopia is one of the poorest nations in the world with the average annual per capital income is $100. The country's population grows by 2 million a year, while its economy expands by just 3 percent. Agriculture accounts for nearly 40 percent of GDP, but unsustainable land policies are fueling ever-larger emergencies in the country.

No Retreat, No Surrender - By Bruce Springsteen (28 October 2004)
http://www.commondreams.org/views04/1029-29.htm
Thank you! Thank you. As a songwriter, I've written about America for thirty years. Tryin' to write about who we are, what we stand for, what we fight for. And I believe that these essential ideas of American identity are what's at stake on November 2nd. I think the human principles of economic justice -- just healing the sick, health care, feeding the hungry, housing the homeless, a living wage so folks don't have to break their backs and still not make ends meet, the protection of our environment, a sane and responsible foreign policy, civil rights and the protection and safeguarding of our precious democracy here at home -- I believe that Senator Kerry honors these ideals. He has lived our history over the past fifty years. He has an informed and adult view of America and its people. He's had the life experience, and I think he understands that we as humans are not infallible. And as Senator Edwards said during the Democratic convention, that struggle and heartbreak will always be with us. And that's why we need each other. That's why "united we stand" -- that's why "one nation indivisible" -- aren't just slogans, but they need to remain guiding principles of our public policy. And he's shown starting as a young man, that by facing America's hard truths, both the good and the bad, that that's where we find a deeper patriotism. That's where we find a more complete view of who we are. That's where we find a more authentic experience as citizens. And that's where we find the power that is embedded only in truth, to make our world a better and a safer place. Paul Wellstone, the great Minnesota senator -- he said the future is for the passionate, and those that are willing to fight and to work hard for it. Well the future is now, and it's time to let your passions loose. So let's roll up our sleeves. That's why I'm here today, to stand alongside Senator Kerry and to tell you that the country we carry in our hearts is waiting. And together we can move America towards her deepest ideals. And besides, we had a sax player in the [White] House -- we need a guitar player in the White House. Alright -- this is for John. This is for you, John. Why Bush Will Restart the Draft if Re-elected - By Senator Tom Harkin (28 October 2004)
http://www.truthout.org/docs_04/103104X.shtml
A major terrorist attack could easily serve as the pretext for setting the draft in motion - President George W. Bush may or may not have a secret plan to reinstate the draft. But this is besides the point. The deteriorating facts on the ground in Iraq, plus the Bush doctrine of acting pre-emptively and unilaterally against hostile regimes, will soon leave him no choice. If Bush is re-elected, he will have to restart the draft. CLIP

Typhoon Tokage produces record eight-story wave in Japan (Oct 23, 2004)
http://www.terradaily.com/2004/041023094626.6j5vs3sn.html
TOKYO (AFP) Typhoon Tokage produced the biggest wave ever recorded in Japan as its rampaged across the country this week, claiming nearly 80 lives, the government said Saturday. The 24-meter-high (80-foot) wave, the size of an eight-story building, was monitored off the port of Muroto on the southern island of Shikoku on Wednesday, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport said.It was the highest wave recorded in the country since the ministry started monitoring wave heights in 1970. The previous record was 20 meters in a wave monitored off Miyazaki on the southern island of Kyushu when another typhoon roared by in August. The ministry said that the average height of waves monitored in a 20-minute period as the typhoon struck on Wednesday was 13.55 meters (45 feet). The waves were recorded by an underwater monitoring point about 1.5 kilometers (one mile) offshore.Towering waves crushed a sea wall and 14 houses at Muroto, some 600 kilometers (375 miles) southwest of Tokyo, killing three people there. The National Police Agency said late Saturday that 79 people had been confirmed dead from the typhoon with 12 others missing and 299 injured.

As The Earth Heats Up, Hurricanes May Strengthen, Experts Say At A News Conference. (...) Matthias Weber, chief property underwriter for the American branch of Swiss Re, the world's second-largest insurer, says claims for storm damage in the United States and Japan are part of $150 billion for weather-related losses the insurance industry must cover worldwide this year -- up from an average of $4 billion in the 1980s. "It is impossible to say that any single event -- even four hurricanes in a single season -- is associated with climate change, but we take the trend of global warming very seriously," he said.

It Is The Wolves In The White House Who Are Preying Upon Democracy, And Gorging On Its Carcass
October 25, 2004
Here's the crucial difference between the GOP theft of the election in 2000 and their efforts to steal the 2004 White House campaign.
In 2000, they were outside the government trying to steal their way in, with Florida as ground zero in the mugging of democracy.
In 2004, they ARE the government: controlling the legislative, executive and judicial branches.
They have appointed enough federal judges, combined with past right wing appointees in the Reagan and Bush I administrations, so that any election initiative that they support or oppose will by upheld or struck down by an ideologically driven right wing judge somewhere along the appellate route. Their moles are in place and ready to do what they were appointed to the bench for: to protect the Bush regime and the interests of the Republican Party and its fundamentalist supporters over the rights of Americans to choose their government.
It is like trying to win a football game when all the referees work FOR the opposing team.
If you are voting in a state with a Republican Secretary of State and a Republican Governor -- such as Florida and Ohio -- you are voting in an environment where the Bush Cartel is using its surrogates to try and suppress every Democratic vote that it can.
Already, through a variety of schemes, including working to ensure that provisional votes are not counted, felon purges, the organized dumping of Democratic registration forms, improper registration of Democrats (to ensure that their right to vote will be denied when challenged by a "rent-a-thug" poll watcher), to mysterious phone calls to Democratic voters telling them to vote in the wrong precinct, to the collection of absentee ballot requests for Dems that never show up at the election office, to the illegal registration of students and naturalized citizens as Republicans -- and including many, many more GOP dirty tricks -- the Republican Party has nationalized their Democratic voter suppression activity, using the multiple strategies that they tried out in Florida -- and many, many more new ones. Most of them are actions that are punishable as felonies.
But nothing will be as disgraceful an assault on democracy as the hiring of 2,500 "rent a Republican thugs" -- at $100 a day -- to intentionally intimidate minority and other Democratic voters from exercising their democratic and constitutional right by creating chaos and a menacing environment through challenging voters in Democratic (primarily minority) districts in Ohio. Such an onslaught of challenges on election day has the intent of tying up polling booths through lengthy challenges (a process that was successful in dooming the ill-fated voter recount in Florida in 2000 even before the Supreme Court stepped in), thus forcing voters to abandon unfathomable waits as each voter is challenged, requiring a lengthy review process of each individual's right to vote. Secondly, the very presence of hostile GOP thugs -- and the boastful public promotion of this strategy by the Republican Party of Ohio (at the behest of Karl Rove, you can be sure) -- is meant to keep fearful minority views from coming to the voting booths in Ohio at all. This is Jim Crow redux.
Such an effort, among a multitude of voter suppression tactics adopted by the male Katherine Harris of Ohio, Secretary of State Ken Blackwell, a right wing Bush puppet (he's even foamingly at the mouth anti-gay a la Rick "bestiality" Santorum), can impact tens of thousands of votes to the detriment of John Kerry in what as shaping up as the pivotal state of the election. Current projections indicate that Bush cannot win the election without winning Ohio, where he is currently behind in the polls.
That is why Blackwell -- like Katherine Harris, a Bush state campaign co-chair -- has gone to such lengths as requiring that voter registration forms would only be accepted on paper with a certain weight (which he only announced shortly before the registration deadline), until he was forced to stop implementing the requirement.
The refusal to honor provisional ballots in Ohio cast in a different precinct, first struck down and then upheld by a federal appeals court, could result in the loss of tens of thousands of Kerry votes. Although the justice department had no standing in the case, John "Bush owns my butt" Ashcroft filed an amicus brief on a similar provisional voting case in Michigan, even though the federal government was not a party to the suit. He was signaling to Republican office holders throughout the U.S. that the Bush Cartel was going to do everything possible to squash hundreds of thousands of provisional votes, and that they should assist in anyway they could. That was his message in the Michigan case. So you can see that this is an organized effort of disenfranchisement, involving every level of the Bush Cartel and their hired "consultants."
With all the right wing judges now sitting on the federal bench, not to mention the 5-4 "Bush at any price, democracy be damned" majority on the Supreme Court, it is only a matter of time before any appeal that favors democracy and voting rights is struck down in favor of Bush by some judicial ideologue who takes orders from the Federalist Society and the Bush Administration.
It should not be forgotten that William Rehnquist, the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court and one of the felonious five of 2000, got his start in right wing Republican politics by serving as a "poll watcher" in Arizona and aggressively challenging the rights of minorities to vote as a means of disenfranchisement. (This was something that Rehnquist committed perjury about in his confirmation hearings, by the way. But the Democrats, when the truth emerged, were forgiving, as always, and didn't put up a stink about our Chief Justice being found out to have lied under oath.)
So even before most of the country votes on November 2, it is likely that John Kerry will have been denied thousands upon thousands of votes, well in excess of one or two hundred thousand possibly, due to a national GOP strategy of voter suppression, intimidation and dirty tricks, using multiple strategies.
If this is the kind of democracy that Bush is having our soldiers die for, it is only further proof that he is a fraud. In his mind, a democracy is the exercise of voting by white Christians who want to turn America into a theocracy. The votes of minorities and Democrats are to be discounted as much as possible because they do not represent votes of "saved Christians" who are attempting to impose their faith and morality upon a nation they consider "fallen from God."
The denial of voting rights as a national strategy is not just a return to the days of Jim Crow, it is an indication that the Bush Cartel has a different perspective on democracy than what is guaranteed under our Constitution. It is the right to vote based on one's faith and party affiliation. It is the structuring of a state apparatus aimed at stifling democracy as we know it and replacing it more with something that is a cross between Franco's fascism and Stalin's Soviet style of rule.
In a story in the Boston Globe, it was revealed that White House Chief of Staff of Andrew Card recently told a gathering of Maine Bush supporters that the man in the White House regards Americans as 10-year-olds who need a strong father figure to lead them in this time of peril. That is the model upon which a fascist leader rules, not the model of Constitutional democracy upon which our nation is founded.
The pre-election voter suppression currently being carried out by Rove and company is an attempt to further erode our democracy, as the Bush Cartel has begun the dismantling of the democratic process ever since it first hijacked the election in 2000.
The Bush Family knows that Jeb Bush will carry Florida for Bush no matter what. He has already succeeded in using multiple tactics to suppress Democratic voters, particularly minorities, including minority voter intimidation in Orlando using state police and the second round of a felon's purge that was allegedly halted, but not really stopped by the individual Republican-run counties. As Tom DeLay has done in the House of Representatives several times in the past four years, Jeb will use a variety of means to make sure that his candidate (in the House it was Bush-backed bills) "wins" even if by one vote. If push comes to shove, there are always the Diebold electronic voting machines. Jeb has allowed Diebold to keep its software counting system "proprietary," meaning that the votes in Florida and wherever electronic voting machines are used (there are two other pro-Republican companies supplying such machines) for the counting of our votes has been "privatized." Republican-affiliated companies are counting the votes of America, and we don't have the right to know how they are counting them.
And don't forget that it was the CEO of Diebold, which is ironically located in the Buckeye State, who pledged that he would do everything possible to carry Ohio for Bush.
We take him at his word.
We trust the Kerry campaign, which has said that it is prepared to take on all legal challenges, has listened closely to that pledge. It is a pledge of allegiance to the Bush Cartel, not to America.
The institutional integrity of our democracy is at stake in this election.
Having once gotten away with the theft of the voting process, the Bush Cartel has had four years to plan its second national robbery, now operating from inside the government itself. They don't just have Jeb to do the dirty work for them; they have the entire national government, including the Department of (In) Justice.
Iraqis should take note that when Bush talks about freedom and democracy, he is using code words for a rigged election.
That is what democracy means to the Bush's: winning at all costs, the voters be damned.
What they have done in the pre-election period is to literally make Democratic votes vanish before they can even be cast. That is what they did with the infamous felon's list in Florida in 2000. Now, their system of disenfranchisement is much more multi-pronged and elaborate.
And now, like a cancer upon our Constitution, they have spread the disease throughout the nation.
If Kerry wins, Karl Rove plans to cry fraud at the polls, and then shop around for a judge who agrees with him that the Democrats stole the election.
If you think that is brazen hypocrisy, just remember Rove doesn't give a damn.
He knows that Nino Scalia will be camped out at the Supreme Court willing to rescue Bush from defeat, using whatever illogical partisan argument is necessary to get the dirty deed accomplished.
After all, the Bush Cartel, their corporate cronies, and the theocratic right own our government, don't they?
If they didn't, they might ironically argue, then how did they come to power? They weren't elected in 2000; that's for sure.
They run elections by a different set of rules. The voting is just an inconvenience to them. Their challenge is to come up with foolproof ways to rig the election.
Let's just hope that their plans have a fatal flaw, such as the will of the people triumphing over the treachery of the Bush thugs.
It's the only thing that can bring an end to an administration that has betrayed the American Revolution, our Constitution, and the right of one-person, one vote.
On September 11th, 2001, more than 3,000 people were horrifically murdered by terrorists as the "leaders" of this nation ignored warnings of an impending strike. It was an assault upon the United States.
But it is the wolves in the White House who are preying upon democracy, and gorging on its carcass.

Subject: Vote your Conscience !!
Date: 30 Oct 2004
My "apolitical" commentary on the elections:
As my republican friend said the other day, "I'm going to vote for John Kerry, because I want a democrat in the Whitehouse when all the "sh_t" hits the fan."
And my democrat friend said, "I'm going to vote for George Bush, because he'll make things so bad in this country, people will finally wake up and do something about it".
Out of all the people I have talked to recently, the only one clearly voting her conscience is my Mom. She's going to vote for Ralph Nader. I asked her why. She said, "Because I really believe he stands for the right values in our nation today."
"Values"?
Mom, come on. Nobody votes for "values" anymore. Don't you know this guy has a snowball's chance in a microwave of ever getting elected?
Hasn't she noticed that news commentators don't argue issues anymore? All they talk about is "strategy", "tactics", "ploys" and "maneuvering". Issues are no longer the point. Think about it-since no one in office has the slightest intent of meaning what they say beyond the votes it gets them, how CAN you discuss issues? Issues have been reduced to nothing more than public relations slogans, not something you fight for on the floor of Congress.
No, Mom, you need to vote for someone you think can "win".
I don't support Ralph Nader, but she is doing so, and for good reason. I hesitated to tell her that she might want to lie to her friends, because if Kerry looses, her name will be mud for the next four years. I voted for Nader last time, and I still have friends who think I'd look great in a doghouse.
Have you noticed how lately, tacked onto every news item, there is the obligatory paragraph at the end discussing how that particular news story will affect the election? In fact, we seem to have a lot of news showing up for no other reason than to AFFECT the election.
Take, for example, Osama's latest Oscar winning performance. Since we already know Bin Laden was named Tim Osman when he hung out in Texas with the Bushes and other globalists and that he is the chief coordinator for the CIA created/funded/controlled army (called the Al Qaeda), should be we surprised that he would show up on a video just before the election? This merely proves the point that he is part of the new world order political machine, nothing more. Hollywood actors, eat your hearts out!
American sports and the Olympics are there to remind us about survival of the fittest and that where there are winners, there must be losers. Like "Real TV", it trains us to think in terms of "the end justifies the means". We no longer vote on principle. How can we? We don't know what they are. When was the last time you heard the phrase, "Vote your conscience"?
How about the principle of "no man, women and child left behind"? Are we going to get that message anywhere in the NFL or from the World Wrestling Federation?
We have all been reduced to "bottom liners" (yes, I know, it sounds a lot like "bottom feeders"). We have all become "shareholders" in the corporation of our wants, needs and desires. We have all learned that it doesn't matter if you vote for a man who lies about everything in his past, who dedicates himself to a fraternity that worships the devil, and to whom stacking his own deck with insider deals while pretending to lead a nation is standard operating procedure.
We are loosing this Country, not because Ralph Nader crippled the vote for Al Gore, but because in the fracas, we have all forgotten what matters and what doesn't. We have all forgotten how to stand up for principle and make sure the "means" are every bit as sacred as the end.
In essence, again, the Luciferians have performed another masterful slight of hand. While we are thinking we will beat them at their game by voting for someone who can "win" (even if he is immoral, despicable, and self serving), they are not threatened in the least by our "clever maneuvering", our new found savvy of "strategic voting", or by our "practical realism". They control both sides of this gambit. Like any good TV wrestling match, it's a "fixed" game. Both players belong to the same actor's guild that employs Osama.
No, that never was the real game.
The real game was to get us to sell our souls somewhere along the way and become just like them, a people who no longer live by creed, principle or values, but who will do anything to get what we want, anything at all...
...even if it "means" going to war with the world.

Nader's Former Advisors & Former Running Mate Winona LaDuke Urge Support for Kerry!!!
In Swing States-- Start Swinging!
Some of us love Ralph Nader. Some hate him. Some voted for him in the last presidential election. Some of us did not. But now let's join together on Tuesday to vote Bush out of office. That means voting for Kerry.
I've recently joined Noam Chomsky, Phil Donahue, Barbara Ehrenreich, Jim Hightower, Bonnie Raitt, Tim Robbins, Susan Sarandon, Howard Zinn and dozens of other former Nader supporters in urging everyone to vote for Kerry in swing states. (Below, see the members of the "Nader 2000 Citizens' Committee" who are urging swing state support for Kerry.)
Click here to read former Nader running mate Winona LaDuke's eloquent explanation of why she is voting for Kerry this year: http://www.americanvoice2004.org/askdave/01askdave.html
If you know people who may vote for Ralph Nader, please forward this e-mail to them.
Yours for Booting Bush,
Ben Cohen President, TrueMajorityACTION
Co-Founder, Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream+
P.S. If you want to join efforts to convince former Nader voters NOT to vote for Ralph Nader this year, visit http://www.repentantnadervoter.com
We, the undersigned, were selected by Ralph Nader to be members of his 113-person national "Nader 2000 Citizens Committee." This year, we urge support for Kerry/Edwards in all swing states, even while we strongly disagree with Kerry's policies on Iraq and other issues. For people seeking progressive social change in the United States, removing George W. Bush from office should be the top priority in the 2004 presidential election. Progressive votes for John Kerry in swing states may prove decisive in attaining this vital goal.

Now that we're all completely fried and bitter and media punch-drunk, it's time to act - So here we are, staring down a rather historic moment amidst the sputtering ideological orgy that is the American experiment and if you're paying any sort of attention at all you're doubtlessly drunk on election hype and saturated with Bush/Kerry platitudes and you wish a white-hot death upon every screeching TV pundit who is right now analyzing yet another insidious national poll that seems to reveal everything and nothing at the exact same time. (...) We are almost there. We are so very on the cusp. This is where it all comes down to your intuition and your intelligence and a sheer force of will, your ability to overcome the media-induced nausea and deeply inbred American political ennui and hoist yourself out of this election stupor and go to your polling place and punch the little card or push the little button, and then pray you don't live in a state where the GOP has rigged the touch screens or shredded all the Democratic voter registrations as you think, wow, world's foremost democracy and yet why does it feel like I'm voting in, like, Yugoslavia? Why does it feel that this election is so incredibly messy and loaded and rife with snakes and spit and hissing corruption? Weird. Sad. Telling. CLIP

Bush Win Would Mean Dark Times
World Would Perceive Support For Preemptive War
October 30
by Helen Thomas
The presidential election on Tuesday is one of the most crucial in American history.
There are many reasons -- in foreign policy and on the domestic front -- why President George W. Bush should not be reelected.
Among them is the dominance of the radical right in his advisory councils, who are taking the United States down the wrong road at the start of the 21st century.
The road could lead to more mindless wars abroad and a widening gap between the rich and the poor in this country.
There will be only one way to read the election results if Bush wins: The world will see his victory as an affirmation by the American people of his disastrous preemptive war policy, which led the United States to invade Iraq without provocation.
The U.S. attack on Iraq is a clear violation of international law and has made us helpless to condemn others for similar acts.
If he wins reelection, Bush may see his victory as a signal to follow the neo-conservative dream of a political transformation of the Middle East through military force.
The president also would likely continue his new-style isolationism by giving short shrift to post-World War II treaties, such as those banning biological and chemical weapons. There is nothing to indicate Bush is willing to stop the gross violations of the Geneva Conventions on the humane treatment of prisoners of war.
Dark reports of the shameful treatment and secret transfers of detainees still emanate from Iraq and the U.S. brig at the Guantanamo Bay base in Cuba.
Despite his vehement denials, Bush may be compelled to call for another military draft if he persists in making war.
He is scraping by now with his all-volunteer military, along with reservists and National Guard members, keeping them on duty longer than planned with a so-called a back-door draft. If he wins a second term, he wouldn't have to worry about running again and would have a free hand to undo his read-my-lips campaign promises.
On the homefront, the rich will be sitting pretty again with big tax cuts while the budget deficit and national debt zoom sky high.
Bush donors from the military-industrial complex are being well rewarded, especially Halliburton, formerly headed by Vice President Dick Cheney, which already has reaped no-bid contracts to the tune of billions of dollars.
Organized labor will still be behind the eight ball under a new Bush administration. Workers will be pressured to accept "comp time" in place of overtime pay, and the lowered safety standards imposed by Bush's Labor Department will lead to more industrial accidents.
Don't expect Bush to lift a finger to stem the tide of outsourcing of the nation's biggest companies to China, India and other points East, where they can find cheaper labor.
The president is expected to keep trying to weaken public education with voucher programs to aid private schools, many of them religious. He is certain to follow through on his pet project to privatize part of the Social Security system with voluntary private investment accounts, driving a big hole in the program's trust fund. We should all hope that Congress won't go along with such a dangerous idea.
Social Security was the 1936 Depression-era program to support the elderly, the disabled and deprived dependent children.
Senior citizens, meantime, are staying away in droves from Bush's highly touted prescription drug program, which the administration publicly underpriced by $1 billion. Furthermore, the resident's compassionate conservative legislation banned importation of cheaper drugs from Canada. That is not expected to change in a new Bush term.
Bush also wants to cater to corporate interests by capping damages in medical malpractice suits at $250,000.
If reelected, Bush -- who has injected religion into public affairs more than any president has in modern times -- is expected to continue his messianic mission in the White House. He will blur even more the separation of church and state.
For women and minorities who support abortion rights and affirmative action, there is the scary prospect that the candidate who wins Tuesday may be able to appoint three, perhaps even four Supreme Court justices.
Bush undoubtedly will see his reelection as a mandate to push the country further to the right. And if he elected, he will be answerable to no one.

Citizen Grand Jury Indicts Feds Over Sept. 11 Attacks
Patriots, Researchers Meet in LA to Plan Strategy Against Elite
By Christopher Bollyn
LOS ANGELES, CaliforniaA citizens grand jury has voted to indict high officials in the U.S. government for complicity in the events of 9-11 after considering evidence presented by five researchers. The 6-hour event, "Solving the 9-11 Crime A Citizens Grand Jury," was organized by Lynn Pentz of 911truthla.us and held at the Bob Hope Patriotic Hall in Los Angeles during the evening of Saturday, Oct. 23.
After discussion of the legal and historical basis for the grand jury, it was decided to enlarge the original grand jury to 23 in order to comply with California law.
The grand jury heard five researchers present evidence. They were Webster Tarpley, Barbara Honegger, Don Paul, Jim Hoffman and this writer. Some of the evidence that I presented to the citizens grand jury had never been seen before.
Nay sayers notwithstanding, after hearing the evidence the jury voted to indict President Bush and other high officials of a number of charges of complicity in the 9-11 attacks and other offenses related to actions taken by the administration in their "war on terror."
The 911truthla.us organization has not yet issued a press release regarding the votes taken by the citizens grand jury.
Having been asked to discuss the evidence from the Pentagon, I worked with Eric Hufschmid, author of Painful Questions, to create a five-minute video presentation with photographs from the Pentagon and World Trade Center.
MYSTERIES AT THE PENTAGON
Photos were shown from the Pentagon of the extensive decontamination procedures that were carried out on workers at the site. The full body suits respirators, and scrub downs seen at the Pentagon indicate that the Department of Defense, which supervised the work at the Pentagon, was aware of the danger of an unusual contaminant at the site, such as depleted uranium.
I also presented official FEMA photographs from the Pentagon showing the unexplained presence of pieces of a small jet engine, roughly three feet in diameter. These photographs were first published in American Free Press last year. No one has ever claimed that they are part of a Boeing 757, the kind of aircraft that supposedly hit the Pentagon.
While some readers claimed that the small turbine wheel seen in the photo could have come from the auxiliary power unit (APU) in a 757, an engineer with the Arizona-based manufacturer of the APU, told AFP that the piece was "no part of an APU."
The fact that the turbine was found next to insulation and parts of the housing that match its diameter indicates that it came from a small jet engine of similar size.
This proves that a jet engine with an opening diameter of between 3 and 4 feet was found at the Pentagon crash site. The opening diameter of a 757s jet engine is about 9 feet.
When AFP first published photos of these unexplained pieces, more than one year ago, the question was raised whether they could be from an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), such as the Global Hawk:
For those who say a smaller plane or unmanned drone, such as a Global Hawk, was involved in the Pentagon attack, identifying the piece in the photo could prove what kind of aircraft hit the building.
The Global Hawk is a single-engine drone that uses a Rolls Royce Allison engine, hand-built in Indianapolis, Ind. The AE3007H engine has a diameter of 43.5 inches.
Because the Global Hawk is a surveillance drone, the engine is contained in a heavily insulated housing, which makes it extremely quiet. This corresponds with eyewitness reports. American Free Press asked eyewitness Steve Riskus, who said he was within 100 feet of the aircraft, what he heard He said he did not "recall hearing anything." If a 757 or jet fighter flew at high speed 100 feet from an eyewitness, the sound would be deafening.
The fact that no evidence of a Boeing 757 at the Pentagon crash site has been aired publicly, and the discovery of parts from a much smaller engine, suggest that what struck the Pentagon may not have been a 757.
DU MISSILES AT THE WTC?
With no evidence of a Boeing 757 hitting the Pentagon available to the public, some 9-11 researchers claim that a DU tipped missile, probably carried by a weaponized UAV, like the Global Hawk, struck the Pentagon. Because DU is extremely dense, a wide variety of missiles in the U.S. arsenal are tipped with DU rods to penetrate the armored steel of military vehicles and buildings. Uranium is a "spontaneous pyrophoric material," meaning it bursts into flames when it reaches its target and generates such intense heat that it explodes. This is the bright flash that is caused when a DU missile hits its target.
A white flash some people claim can be seen in videos of the two planes striking the twin towers in New York is the kind of event that occurs when a missile with a DU penetrator strikes.
Working with Hufschmid, AFP has found several photos that show a mysterious burning object passing through the initial explosion in the South Tower. This object, which displays all the characteristics of a burning DU penetrator, can be seen on page 39 of Painful Questions.
The photo of the fireball that followed the crash of the plane into the South Tower shows two objects out ahead of the inferno. One appears as a black dot leaving a trail of white smoke, the second appears to be a dark rod burning with a white flame followed by a trail of black smoke. The second object displays the characteristics of a burning DU penetrator. AFP sent enlarged photos of the object to Marion Fulk, a retired chemical physicist from the Lawrence Livermore National Lab, and asked him if this object could be DU.
"Yes, it is possible," Fulk said. Asked about the dark smoke trailing behind the nearly pure white flame, Fulk said, "It could be uranium oxide." "Lets assume it is uranium," Fulk added. "Its burning near the surface, and its pretty hot." The object is small but with great mass and has huge momentum behind it, Fulk said. "Its way out ahead of the explosion, and nothing stopped it."
If the object was a DU penetrator, that would explain its intense heat, radiation expert Leuren Moret told AFP. The DU would have already been burning before it hit the tower. As it passed through the building some of the penetrators kinetic energy would have been converted to heat energy. The difference between the orange colors of the flames coming from the explosion in the tower and the white flame of the small dense object are indicative of "a huge temperature difference," Moret said.
The gap between the burning object and its dark smoke trail is because the vapor coming off of the burning object is very hot and has to cool in order to condense and form the visible dark colored uranium oxides, Moret said.

Night of the RepubliNazis: Idiots for Bush say "Boo" Idiots for Bush: the "Ugly American" Monster Mob
B.Z.B. 10-31-04
Metamagic Media Network
The unravelling of the Bush regime, with its increasing desperation and ugliness, is a frightening purple Kool-Aid version of "Invasion of the Body Snatchers." With neighbors like these, who needs Halloween costumes? It reminds me of that old George Carlin bit about thinking how clueless the average American is-- then realize that half of them are even more ignorant than that.
The Bush agenda is counting on the ignorance and ugliness rampant amongst the under-educated and stubbornly prejudiced rural "Limbaughlands." We've been dragged back to the days when they thought it funny to wear shirts saying "Nuke 'em all & let God sort it out." Now they no longer think it funny-- they're deadly serious.
Try talking sense to anyone around you who still supports Bush, and face the "ugly American" syndrome solidified with patriotic fervor mixed with fear. Most of these well-intentioned, misinformed citizens cannot tell you anything at all about U.S. foreign policy, the Bush family or the CIA, but they know that war is the answer. Be cautious when a group of these "dittoheads" gather into a mob-- they tend to be aggressive, hateful and intolerant.
The most scary monsters in the Bush brigades are those who know they are part of a fascist movement, know the consequences of their supporting the Bush oil wars, know they are ravaging the economy for short-term profit and militaristic tyranny. These are the RepubliNazis, the ones who show up in your neighborhood and begin bullying, threatening, frightening anyone who dares to criticize the Bush regime.
A suggestion for this most historic of Halloweens-- don't dress up as ghosts, witches or aliens this year, dress up in Ku Klux Klan and Nazi regalia and campaign for Bush in prominent places. You will be at the same time representing the shocking truth of our bloody Roman heritage, and unmasking the real monsters among us.

World Food Day 2004: The Political Economy of Hunger
by Sean Cain
October 26, 2004
Last week the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations celebrated World Food Day, an annual event started in 1979. This years theme was Biodiversity for Food Security and focused on the massive loss of genetic diversity of agricultural crops over the last century. Of all the serious failures of global capitalism, starvation and malnutrition are among the most devastating, the most shameful, and compared to other seemingly important issues covered by the corporate media, the most ignored.
The numbers are staggering. According to the United Nations, starvation and malnutrition (or hunger, officially defined as a chronic absence of proteins and caloric energies that lead to declining health and in extreme cases, death) takes the lives of approximately 24,000 people every day, or almost nine million a year. Children consist of 75% of these deaths. 840 million people, or approximately 14% of the worlds population, are currently malnourished. Two billion people, almost a third of our world, suffer from anemia, a red blood cell disorder caused by a lack of iron, vitamin B12 and folic acid. The World Bank states that of the four billion people who live in developing countries, 1.3 billion have no drinking water.
Speaking to the inequality that exists today, for the first time in earths history, there are as many underweight people as there are overweight 1.1 billion according to the World Health Organization (WHO). Since the founding of the FAO in 1945, it is estimated that 400 million people have died from hunger and poor sanitation, more than three times the number of people killed in wars fought during the entire 20th century. Yet the basic nutrition and health needs of the worlds poorest people would cost only $13 billion a year, or roughly 10% of what the American government has spent on the war in Iraq.
These numbers mirror some of the great famines of the 20th century, including the estimated 13 million who died in the Soviet Union from 1929 to 1933, the 30 million who perished during Maos Great Leap Forward in China over a four year period from 1958 to 1962, and most recently, the 2.5 million who died in North Korea during the late 1990s. Yet whereas the barbarity of the Stalinist system is condemned for these tragedies and rightly so the free market system seems to be let off the hook by todays economists for its own crimes against humanity. We are supposed to believe that hunger and malnutrition are not caused by the unemployment or poverty created by global capitalism, but largely by overpopulation, a lack of food production, war or bad weather. These myths perpetuate the false idea that hunger or malnutrition cannot be stopped, and that they are simply a natural occurrence in todays world. At the most extreme, the thoughtless and racist idea that feeding them now will only result in more children and even greater malnutrition in the future has also been used by the Right to excuse global hunger.
It may surprise some to learn that war and famine together account for only 10% of hunger deaths, or that many industrial countries suffer from the same kinds of flash flooding and extreme heat waves that poor countries face. The only difference is that wealthy countries can afford such technologies as refrigeration, advanced watering methods and highly developed transportation systems (not to mention government subsidies and protective trade barriers) which significantly enhance the ability to protect food stuffs from the elements and deliver it to communities in a timely fashion. The huge scarcities created by global capitalism does not allow most poor countries to afford such tools. Ironically, the FAO maintains that our world produces enough food to provide every person with at least 2,720 kilocalories (kcal) every day more than enough for everyone to enjoy a healthy lifestyle.
The other causes of world hunger are more obvious. The global debt trap is certainly one of them. The World Bank has admitted that the developing world now spends $13 on debt repayment for every $1 it receives in grants. Tens of billions of dollars that could be used for investments in water systems, infrastructure to rural communities, education and health care are instead being used to pay off debts to western banks. At the same time, pro-corporate trade policies have the peculiar effect of opening markets for them to sell products to developing countries (that helps put small farmers there out of business), yet at the same time also allows them to export other foods to the industrialized world from poor countries where malnutrition already exists, an activity that many economists do not seem to have much trouble with. Capitalism 1 : Humanity 0.
Over the last ten years, little progress has been made, with worldwide malnourishment decreasing by only 2.5 million people each year, which even the FAO admits is a drastic slowdown in comparison with previous trends. It is nowhere close to matching the 2015 targets originally laid out at the 1996 World Food Summit. When it comes to food security, global capitalism can be called nothing but a spectacular failure. Like Stalinism, fascism or any other form of tyranny that has bloodied the pages of human history, it should be condemned as a monstrous crime. The most right-wing of free market economists no longer even pretend to believe that the market can properly provide the basics of life to everyone on earth.
If hunger and malnutrition are ever to be brought to an end, than a massive redistribution of wealth and power must be transferred to the worlds poor, including the cancellation of debts to western banks and the breaking up of large, mono-cultured, corporate-based factory farms into smaller plots controlled and owned by family farmers and rural communities (which, according to recent evidence, relies on fewer inputs and actually produces higher yields). Improving equal rights, education and access to fairly-paid work and to land for women would also improve food security. Large-scale investments would also have to be made to rural areas, improving health care, housing and transportation systems for farmers. Global dominance of agriculture by big business must give way to social and economic democracy and agricultural diversity at the local level.
What is most hopeful about these ideas becoming a reality is the massive uprising of farmers groups and peasant-based organizations throughout the world. As reported by independent media - and ignored by the corporate press - tens of thousands of farmers from Indonesia to Mexico to Brazil have taken up struggle to seize agricultural lands and use them cooperatively for the benefit of local communities and the poor. In other countries like India, in the face of corporate interests that want to patent life and other agricultural products, farmers united and fought to retain ownership of seeds which have been used by rural communities there for thousands of years. This is only the beginning. From these developments, people in the industrialized world are becoming increasingly aware of the issue and are taking action. If only governments would do the same.

Six-State Tour of Star Wars & Secret Technologies Bases
My first objective was the town of Tonopah, Nevada, a gateway to Black Budget aerospace/SDI projects. If you draw a line between Lancaster, CA, Arco, ID, Denver, and Alamogordo, NM, most Black Budget aerospace/SDI projects are built, tested and based within this quadrangle.
Although Tonopah is a tiny town with mining as its ostensible economy, it houses an Air Force Air Defense Command headquarters. This is a paradox, since Nellis Air Force Base (the nearest official USAF facility) is 180 miles south. Unless, of course, there is a secret USAF presence at the north end of the Nevada Test Range requiring aerospace defense. Which there is. Also spotted was the "Shuttle to Sandia". Very interesting, since Sandia National Labs is two states away in Albuquerque. Unless, of course, there is a secret Sandia presence nearby. Which there is.
From Tonopah I drove east 15 miles on U.S. 6 to the turnoff to the Tonopah Test Range. The entrance sign misleadingly gives the impression that they test small rockets there. But after driving 12 miles south on the entrance road I came to a huge sprawling base operated not by the Department of Defense but rather by Sandia National Laboratories for the Department of Energy (DOE). "Sandia National Laboratories (SNL) is AT&T", according to SNL public information officer Joanne Pigg.
Yes, AT&T is the corporation behind the application of physics research to Star Wars weapons. When AT&T reaches out to touch someone, it may be with one of their electromagnetic pulse weapons.
By the front gate are 30 huge two-story buildings where Test Range workers are headquartered. Through binoculars (7X35 power) I could see downrange five miles where an equally large additional buildings complex was located. To the south and east extend hundreds of square miles for operational testing of DOE weapons, such as electromagnetic pulse, particle beam, tactical fusion and laser. Strategic nuclear weapons are tested 100 miles farther south at another DOE facility, the Nevada Test Site, while U.S.-made saucers are test-flown 100 miles southeast, over the Groom and Papoose Lakes bases.
The guards at the Tonopah Test Range were not dressed in military or police uniform, but rather wore desert camouflage jumpsuits with a cryptic shoulder patch reading "ASI-SWAT". A military convoy was let through the gate and headed downrange. When I approached the main gate on foot, the two guards were surly and aggressively poised. They carried strange weapons which I have never seen before, although I am familiar with the appearance of U.S. and international military, police and elite-unit weapons, as found in, for example, Soldier of Fortune magazine. Their weapons looked like a fat, black, cylindrical oversized rifle stock (about 5" diameter), about a yard long, but no barrel or muzzle at the end.
About 80 miles east of Tonopah Test Range on State HWY 375 is the hamlet of Rachel, NV. Mostly a mobile home complex housing workers employed at Area 51, Rachel's central spot is the Little A'Le'Inn bar and restaurant. Proprietors Joe and Pat Travis are quite informative about Area 51 and host the Air Force personnel who come there to drink after work. The walls of the Little A'Le'Inn are a veritable museum of USAF unit insignia, UFO photographs, drawings and souvenirs, as well as autographed photos of UFO researchers and investigative journalists, such as George Knapp of Las Vegas radio-television. Joe told me of a UFO having come down once at night after closing and illuminated the entire interior of their restaurant.
I then proceeded 25 miles southeast to the Groom Lake dirt road turnoff, marked by the infamous black mailbox. Using USGS topographic maps (Pahranagat Range) I carefully drove west on the dirt roads towards the Groom Lake base. While still five miles away from the military reservation boundary, I encountered two men in camouflage jumpsuits armed with rifles, sitting in an unmarked Ford Bronco with a lightbar on the roof, parked off the roadbed facing me. Just as I drove past them, my left rear tire collapsed and I rolled to a stop. The tire had a sidewall penetration, although the tread was good. Nothing on the clear dirt road could have caused a sidewall blowout. I concluded that the tire had been shot by one of these men. After a minute the camouflaged duo did a U-turn, drove up next to my vehicle as I was changing the tire, and sarcastically asked, "Anything wrong?".
I was next questioned as to whether I had a badge, and whether I was "headed up ahead". When I said I had no badge, they said "It's no use going up ahead". I learned that there is a guarded closed gate at the military reservation boundary.
Since it was late afternoon I retreated until dark, then returned and parked prudently about a quarter-mile east of the Bronco and got out my binoculars to observe the ridgeline of the Groom Range above Areas 51 and S-4 from 9:00-10:30 p.m., April 9. After a half-hour I spotted an intense burning-bright orange-gold round light rise up vertically from behind the Groom Mountains. Ithovered several minutes, drifted slowly south about 1000 feet, then slowly descended vertically behind the mountains.
This object had the same color and shape, and was viewed from the same direction, as the object photographed by researcher Gary Schulz, who enlarged and computer-enhanced his photo to reveal a flying disc with a cupola on top, surrounded by an ionization haze of light. Schulz' photographs of what he identifies as a HPAC (Human Powered Alien Craft) hang on the wall of the Little A'Le'Inn, and appear in Cosmic Top Secret.
Soon a second brilliantly shining round object rose vertically and hovered about 500 feet above the ridgeline. This object was strobing and emitting a blue-white intense light apparently from the skin of the craft. It then began a series of incredible, impossibly blindingly-fast pendulum, zig-zag and back-and-forth maneuvers at fraction-of-a-second intervals, covering perhaps 900 feet at a "jump". The object executed 180-degree turns and appeared almost to be in two places at once. After this dazzling aerobatics performance it settled down to hovering awhile, then resumed the gyrations again. Both episodes of gyrations lasted over a minute each. Finally the object hovered motionless, then began flying downrange south at a constant altitude and direction at about 80 mph. I tracked it through my binoculars for about 30 miles before it became indistinguishable from the starfield.
About a half-hour after it disappeared, a third brilliant round object, glowing with the same burning-bright orange-gold color, rose above the Groom Range, hovered, drifted slowly, then began strobing. Then it began gliding downrange at a constant altitude and speed of 80 mph, but with somewhat irregularly spaced erratic jumps forward. Also odd was that the appearance of the craft alternated between strobes; on one phase it was a bright sharply-defined orb of orange-gold light, on the alternate phase it was a smudgy golden smear of light. It repeated this phase-shifting all the way downrange.
These craft were navigated in a conservative and slow fashion, and did not display the confident maneuvering and extremely rapid departure style so often reported for extraterrestrial UFO's. Thus I concluded these are the U.S.-manufactured discs at a primitive stage of technology and/or pilot mastery. On the other hand, the extreme hyperfast aerobatics-in-place of the one craft indicates that inertial forces, and therefore gravity, have been overcome by these craft.
My next destination was Archuletta Mesa just north of Dulce, NM. Reported in Blum's Out There and Good's The UFO Report as an underground base, Archuletta Mesa straddles the New Mexico-Colorado border. I drove around the mesa and discovered a mysterious "ranch" on the north side near the base of the mesa. The "Redding R Ranch" is supposedly a beefalo raising outfit. However, in the front yard of the ranch between the road and the two ranch buildings were four odd, 25-foot high guardtowers on stilts, defining the four corners of the inner property. No movement or personnel were detected. The ranch ranges for two miles along the road, with four fancy expensive wrought-iron gates and arches with "Redding R Ranch" spelled in wrought iron, spaced at intervals along the fenceline. However, three of these gates lead to nowhere, either bordering a cliff over a creek or bordering a dense forest with no road behind the gate.
A self-confessed Intelligence operative I interviewed in 1992, Dr. John Alexander, working as a member of the Board of Directors of PSITECH, (a commercial intelligence company using psychics with remote viewing powers), expressed great interest in seeing my photographs of the "Ranch" and "had heard of it" in his intelligence work. I shared with him that a remote viewer in Sacramento, CA I consult with, Nancy Matz, had spotted several levels of excavated chambers in the mesa, but that there had been a great disturbance inside the mountain which caused some of the chambers to cave in on others. Dr. Alexander replied to this that "we set off a nuclear explosion inside the mountain" , but then added the disinformation that "it was to search for oil".
Next I headed back into New Mexico to reconnoiter Los Alamos National Laboratories (LANL), where theoretical research having weapons applications is conducted for the Department of Energy (DOE) by the University of California. (The University also operates Lawrence Livermore Laboratories in California for the same purposes, specializing in laser and nuclear fusion research.) A huge sprawling complex covering much of Los Alamos County, Los Alamos Labs stretches for 5 miles by 13 miles, and, according to John Alexander, has extensive underground facilities in addition to the surface installations.
LANL retains a heavy, but not exclusive, emphasis on nuclear research. It helps to explain why this country is not making more progress in safely disposing of nuclear waste that there is one small building at LANL dedicated to Nuclear Waste Management Research, while there are hundreds dedicated to making more waste. DOE "No Trespassing" signs, with dire penalties, are everywhere at LANL, as are radiation warning signs. Certain curious anomalies were noted at LANL. Building T10 houses the Center for Human Genome Studies, and(!) the HIV (AIDS) Database: a pair of rather strange enterprises for a military weapons-oriented research complex to be involved in, rather than the National Institutes of Health. One cannot help being reminded of the rumors that AIDS is a biological weapon gone amok.
Even more curious is another building which houses LANL's Theoretical Biology and Biophysics studies. Perhaps less curious if the rumor is true that the extraterrestrial corpses from the crashed UFO near Corona, NM were brought to Los Alamos for study. Los Alamos' Theoretical Biology department may be linked to NASA Ames Research Center's exobiology studies, which include having constructed lifelike figures of alternative evolutionary models of what intelligent life may look like on other planets.
Besides nukes and exotic biology LANL also researches military applications of intense magnetic fields at its National High Magnetic Field Laboratory, (a prerequisite to gravity/antigravity research). And the military connection at LANL is not subtle. The Air Force has its ATAC Technical Support Facility there, staffed and guarded 7 days a week.
Another anomaly at Los Alamos is its central nuclear reactor. This is the only reactor I have ever seen with personnel quarters (extremely secure) located right next to the reactor, in violation of the principle of keeping optimal separation between persons and radiation.
The theoretical weapons physics of Los Alamos and Lawrence Livermore Laboratories is translated into actual working models of high tech weapons at Sandia National Laboratories, Albuquerque. So I headed for Albuquerque, arguably a center of the Black Budget/SDI effort. Located on the southeast edge of town is Kirtland Air Force Base. Kirtland provides cover for and houses: the Southwest Regional Office of the Department of Energy (DOE), Sandia National Laboratories (SNL), the Defense Nuclear Agency, the Interservice Nuclear Weapons School, and DOE's National Atomic Museum. To say that DOE and SNL keep a low profile is an understatement. They do not even list themselves in the Albuquerque phone book, although other federal agencies have long listings of even minor departments.
I entered the Kirtland Air Force Base complex through its main gate after getting a free pass offered any civilian who wants to visit the National Atomic Museum or SNL's Solar Research Power Tower inside. If one happens not to be able to help passing various DOE, USAF, SNL or DNA facilities and weapons test sites on the way in or out, oh, well, opportunity knocks.
Over the roof of the Department of Energy Regional Headquarters fly three flags, the U.S., the DOE, and the AT&T! Yes, the AT&T horizontal-stripes globe logo flies alongside, because AT&T is Sandia National Laboratories, which is where a large part of DOE effort in the Southwest takes place. Although the government likes to tout its nuclear safety record, the DOE is not even capable of keeping its own regional administrative headquarters building free of contamination, as photographic evidence shows.
Contaminated or not, the DOE is secured like a fortress, with checkpoint guardposts and a personnel entry cubicle one must enter, lock the door, punch in a code, then exit another door, all before walking to the front door of the headquarters building.
Since I could not enter even the main lobby area of DOE or SNL headquarters, I travelled a quarter-mile farther to the National Atomic Museum (NAM). The nuclear physicists and military at Los Alamos and Sandia Labs are so proud of their history of nuclear "achievements" that they proudly display information I had presumed was classified (and may still be, elsewhere). For example, The U.S. now has hydrogen bombs downsized as small as a RV propane tank, and which could easily fit in an Army duffel bag.
Even more amazing, in view of Lawrence Livermore Laboratories' continuing disinformation campaign that "we're still working on containing nuclear fusion", was NAM's revelation that the U.S. since 1987 been producing controlled nuclear fusion, and that it is self-sustaining(!) and contained by a hyperstrong magnetic field. They use lasers to implode fissile material and produce fusion. This is an inexhaustible and rather compact energy source, and may be the powerplant for the gravity-defying craft I saw at Area 51.
Another NAM revelation with Star Wars weapons implications (and applications) is that SNL has achieved advanced particle acceleration energy capabilities that can deliver a 100,000,000,000,000 (100 trillion) volt burst of ions using a lithium diode one inch thick.
Across the street (appropriately) from the National Atomic Museum is the Interservice Nuclear Weapons School, where all branches of the armed services can learn how to use nuclear weapons. Nuclear weapons must no longer be understood to mean only hydrogen bombs, but also Star Wars weaponry which uses nuclear fusion as its power source.
Which leads us next to the immense sprawling complex of Sandia National Laboratories. SNL and its test ranges extend south and east of DOE headquarters for over a hundred square miles, and take up most of what is labelled "Kirtland Air Force Base". SNL has project buildings every half-mile in every direction out to the horizon. Activities identified by sign include mostly weapons-application research in nuclear, nuclear transport, magnetic, solar (yes, solar weapons!), electromagnetic-pulse, laser and particle beam energy.
At the Solar Power Tower laboratory SNL boasts of a heliostat (solar collector-concentrator device) which can burn through 1"-thick hard metal plating in 26 seconds.
But the piece-de-resistance of Star Wars weapons research applications I found was "Project ARIES, the Advanced Research Electromagnetic Pulse (EMP) Simulator Site", where a two-blocks long device was built for the Defense Nuclear Agency by Edgerton. Germhausen & Greer (EG&G).
EG&G is a shadowy corporation involved (along with Wackenhut Corporation) in security for Areas 51 and S-4. Black Budget weapons operations like Project ARIES, and in maintaining various nuclear facilities for the U.S. government. The EMP weapon consists of a 1 1/2-block long barrel horizontally supported on a wooden (nonconductive) trestle 25 feet high, connected to a two-story tower building, connected in turn to an immense electrical apparatus with huge arms and massive connecting cables looking like a gigantic Van de Graaf generator. The long-rumored electromagnetic pulse weapon spotted at last!
Using fusion power and engineered to 100 trillion volt bursts, it could arguably overpower even the exotic technology of an extraterrestrial UFO. It is clearly overkill to defeat a mere incoming CIS (formerly, USSR) ballistic missile, for which nuclear-tipped sprint intercept missiles suffice.
While driving around trying to find my way back from the solar weapons lab, I encountered the famous Manzano Mountain Weapons Storage facility, an entire mountain tunneled into for storage of various high security items, such as nuclear weapons and, according to Timothy Good, retrieved UFO's (Above Top Secret). Manzano is surrounded by three separate high razor-wire-tipped fences with bare-earth zones between, presumably with motion sensors embedded. Armed personnel in jeeps constantly patrol the area. The security at Manzano is in high contrast to the rather porous-to-nonexistent security elsewhere at Sandia.
At the northern end of Manzano is the notorious Coyote Canyon Test Site, where extremely classified Air Force, DNA, DOE and SNL research takes place. At the entrance was a sign designating the Defender Challenge project. This is the area where a UFO was spotted by USAF personnel hovering low in 1979 (Above Top Secret, T. Good). Peering partway into Coyote Canyon by binoculars, I could see a strange metallic ball 20 feet high resting on the ground sheltered by a flat tin roof above, supported by four poles surrounding the huge sphere. Its purpose is unknown. Whatever the research at Coyote Canyon is, it has made the water in the area unfit to drink or even wash your hands in. Because of the off-limits signs I did not enter Coyote Canyon or other high-security canyons around, so I cannot fully report on all that is going on at these Sandia sites.
Leaving Sandia, I headed south towards Alamogordo, to the National Solar Observatory (NSO) at Sunspot, NM. Located at top of Sacramento Peak 9200' above Alamogordo, NSO is another low-profile facility. Its staffing include Air Force science officers, who monitor the effects of the Sun's electromagnetic radiation fields on geophysical and geomagnetic disturbances, on the operation of spacecraft and of satellite orbit stability, as well as on spaceflight operations.
Under the entrance sign of the Observatory is placed an additional small sign which reads "Umbra", the National Security Agency's highest security classification (The Puzzle Palace, J. Bamford).
A thousand feet east of the NSO is the Army Sacramento Peak Frequency Surveillance Station, the entrance to which has several signs forbidding entrance, with severe penalties. This station monitors electromagnetic (EM) communications and telemetry on and over White Sands Missile Range, Holloman Air Force Base, and NASA's secret Johnson Space City complex. My remote viewer consultant noted underground facilities at the Surveillance Station and EM force field generation, which may explain why there was no cricket or forest sounds near this ELMINT (electromagnetic intelligence) facility, probably actually operated by the National Security Agency.
Holloman Air Force Base, White Sands Missile Range and NASA's Johnson Space City were highly secure and off-limits, and I was not able to reconnoiter them. My next destination lay in western New Mexico.
I explored the National Radio Astronomy Observatory (NROA), whose Very Large Array consists of 27 huge "receiving" dishes 82 feet wide, on support towers which move around on railroad tracks. Each is as tall as a twelve-story building. Capable of different configurations, the dishes I saw were arrayed in an inverted-T configuration, each arm of which stretched for one mile, with thelongest arm pointed due north.
The stated purpose of this facility is to collect "weak radio waves from celestial sources". This is presented to the outsider as meaning exclusively mapping the heavens by locating stars and energized gasfields in space which emit EM radiation in the radio frequency. However, as with other sites on this tour, NROA is not your average boring observatory. Parked adjacent to the headquarters was an Army truck with NROA insignia on the door, and two ambulances with NROA insignia also. (The handful of astronomers working here must have a terrible occupational accident record!)
Sixty miles north of Los Angeles, in the Tehachapi Mountains east of Edwards Air Force Base, lies the Tejon Ranch, sprawling for approximately 600 square miles. There the Northrop Aircraft Corporation has its secret saucer manufacturing works, according to researcher William Hamilton III in his book, Cosmic Top Secret. Bill was right. I saw the same intensely burning-bright orange-gold craft test-flown there as I had seen above Areas 51/S-4. Following Bill's directions I proceeded seven miles west from Lancaster on HWY 138 to Road 190, then three miles north to the Kern County line. Staked out with binoculars between 3:00 and 5:00 a.m. on April 15, I observed four ultrabright orange-gold orbs rise and traverse a brief 1 1/2 mile test loop.
At intervals of about a half-hour, each orb took off and plied its course. The first three took off from what appeared to be the southwest hangar area of the Northrop complex. The fourth one took off from the northeast staging area. On the ground each craft was not glowing at first, but appeared in the full moonlight like a parked airliner frame with backlit "porthole windows". Estimated width of craft is 50 feet. Then as each began to rise, it began glowing intensely all over its frame, as though the frame itself (or an ionizing field around the frame) were emitting light.
Its intensity increased proportionately to the power demand of rising from the ground vertically to approximately 200 feet above the plant. At this altitude and at maximum brightness the craft hovered, then slowly began to glide at about 15 mph in a southwest direction for 1 1/2 miles, stopped, then swung around revealing its round bottom side briefly which emitted even more intense light. Then each craft traversed back at steady altitude to the staging area, hovered, then descended vertically slowly to the ground. Upon landing each then stopped emitting bright light except for the dim backlit "portholes". The fourth craft took its loop in a northeasterly direction. These loops appeared to be very brief and cautious test runs to be sure the craft actually flew, before shipping them off to Area S-4 for full field-test proving, and use to join a growing fleet of U.S. saucers.
Now I had completed my six-state tour and seen the Star Wars and U.S. saucer facilities. What does it all mean?
I believe that UFO's, Star Wars weapons and U.S. saucers are interrelated, like a three-legged stool. As investigator Leonard Stringfield states in Timothy Good's The UFO Report: "Star Wars, ostensibly conceived as a defensive system against Russian missile attacks, may have had from its beginning a 'defensive' UFO connection." Clearly, given the dramatic increase in Strategic Defense Initiative Office funding, (a 33% increase in each of the last three years (Missing the Target:SDI in the 1990's, Union of Concerned Scientists), while there has been a dramatic drop in the Soviet missile threat since 1989 as the USSR fell apart, the Union of Concerned Scientists concluded that "there is no rationale for an SDI system as large as that proposed either by Congress...or the Bush administration".
This anomaly further points to a different agenda for SDI than stopping CIS missiles or Third World terrorists. That agenda, I believe, is weapons "countermeasures" capability against extraterrestrials and their UFO's. SDI "countermeasures" include nuclear, laser, electromagnetic pulse and particle beam weapons.
Documentary evidence of such agenda appears to have been inadvertently provided by NASA when the astronauts of the Shuttle Discovery transmitted to Earth video camera footage of UFO's traversing just above Earth atmosphere. One UFO suddenly makes a 90-degree turn to the right and accelerates off into deeper space, just a second before a burst of shaped-pulse high energy streaks up from Earth towards the spot where the UFO would have been if it had not radically changed course. Other UFO's are shown being shot at by visibly energized EM weapon bursts. This videotape was shown on NBC's Hard Copy program, and narrated by UFO Magazine Contributing Editor Don Ecker. A Star Wars weapon shooting at a UFO above Earth's atmosphere? It looked that way to Don Ecker, and from my research it looks that way to me.
The assembling of a fleet of U.S. saucers in Nevada appears to be a related effort to develop capacity to do combat with extraterrestrial UFO's on technologically similar terms. Compelling evidence also exists that the assembling of high tech weapons under the appropriately-named Star Wars program is precisely to make war on extraterrestrials.
What is the motive for the Shadow Government's war on extraterrestrials? Richard Hoagland, former editor of Star & Sky magazine and consultant to NASA's Goddard Spaceflight Center, explains. "There is a great deal of naivete about the forces in our society that do not want this knowledge, even in the form of a very useful technology, to get out." He notes that there are "interlocking institutions whose job it is to keep themselves in business. And they do not take lightly to this ET technology. After all, how do people stay in power? Because they define the universe as limited, rare and scarce and then put a price tag on it. Then some people are put in charge of doling out the scarce precious thing; other people buy it at whatever the market will bear. And you have a really neat system for controlling people."
Is the Shadow Government's aggressive and paranoid SDI response the one we want made in our name to visits by intelligent life from other planets? Is that a good use for $80 billion of our tax dollars? (SDI Budget, 1993-2005, Union of Concerned Scientists, op. cit.).
As Edmund Burke once stated, "All that is necessary for evil to prevail is for enough good men to do nothing."
Something we can do to expose and oppose this evil is demanding of our elected representatives that the Black Budget be opened to full Congressional and public scrutiny and debate. This also should include the Intelligence budgets, particularly NSA, NRO, CIA and DIA. Finally, we need to demand that Congress pass legislation outlawing and invalidating the pernicious practice of secret Executive Orders by the President, with no accountability to the American people, such as Truman's classified Executive Order of 09/24/47 setting up MJ-12 and hiding extraterrestrial contact from the American people.
The ball is in our court.

Israel's green light
The US appeases Sharon, the rest of the world looks on, and even more Palestinian civilians are murdered. Khaled Amayreh reports from Gaza
As Palestinians were reeling from the 18-day Israeli rampage in northern Gaza which saw over 100 people killed, mostly innocent civilians, Israeli tanks stormed Khan Younis in southern Gaza. The invading forces attacked on the two defenceless refugee camps.
Once again, the vast bulk of the dead and the injured were innocent civilians, including an eight-year-old boy, gunned down by an Israeli army sniper as he stood on the rooftop of his home. There were also two policemen among the victims who were reportedly taking their Ramadan fast-breaking meal when shot.
In total, 17 Palestinians were killed and nearly 80 others were wounded including a dozen who lost limbs as a result of being hit by missiles fired from Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV).
In addition to the wanton killing and maiming, the 30-hour foray witnessed the brutal destruction of many homes and a mosque. Huge swathes of farms and citrus groves were also decimated, a characteristic Israeli trademark aimed at tormenting Palestinians and destroying their livelihood.
Adding insult to injury, two Israeli army bulldozers even unearthed several graves at Khan Younis' Shuhadaa Cemetery, a symbolic act of savagery and callousness.
Khan Younis governor, Husni Zurub, described the latest Israeli campaign as "characteristic of Israeli criminality against our people. Real armies attack armies, but in our case, the mighty Israeli army is ganging up on refugee camps and murdering women and children... It is not a heroic act to use state-of- the-art machines of death against impoverished civilians who even have a hard time securing food for their kids."
Zurub attributed the increasingly excessive Israeli killing of Palestinians in the Gaza strip to the "stunning absence" of world reactions.
"The world is silent while Sharon is slaughtering our children. Sharon interprets this disgraceful silence as a green light to keep up the killing... This is what he is doing... Tomorrow or after tomorrow, his criminal army will carry out another carnage.
Zurub's indignation was echoed by Palestinian Authority Prime Minister Ahmed Qorei who accused the world community of "virtual complicity in these hideous daily atrocities against our civilians."
"They [Israel] are destroying Gaza before leaving it ... The entire world should realise that its denunciations have become futile ... If Israel is a state above the law, the world should spell this out. If not, it should deter Israel and stop it from carrying out further massacres."
The stepped-up killings in Gaza are being viewed here as a gimmick used by the Sharon- Mofaz government to placate extreme right- wing opponents of the disengagement plan which is sharply polarising the Israeli society as never before. Some rabbis have called Sharon a Nazi collaborator while others have tacitly called for assassinating him.
Another significant reason for the near daily atrocities is to "dry out" any feeling of joy among Palestinians over the planned Israeli withdrawal. By drenching Gaza in blood Palestinians would spend months if not years in mourning rather than celebrating.
This also explains recently revealed plans by the Israeli government to destroy all the homes and infrastructure in the Gaza settlements in order to make sure that the Palestinians do not benefit from the 1,500 red-tiled flats where an estimated 6,000 Jewish settlers are currently living.
Some international bodies had hoped that the vacated homes would be used to house at least some of the thousands of Palestinian families whose homes have been destroyed by the Israeli occupation army.
Since the beginning of October 2004 as many as 800 Palestinians in Gaza have been made homeless. According to a report published this week by the United Nations Relief and Work Agency, the Israeli army flattened or partially destroyed 192 homes during their recent onslaught in northern Gaza.
The report highlighted that "Demolition rates have reached alarming levels in 2004," adding that as many as 1,360 Palestinians per month, or 45 persons each day, have been made homeless as a result of the Israeli army demolition operations.
Indeed, while operation "Days of Repentance" was taking place in northern Gaza, 482 people were made homeless in Rafah as the Israeli occupation army continued to hack away at Palestinian neighbourhoods along the Egyptian border.
Meanwhile, the Israeli army has reportedly begun targeting the families and children of suspected Palestinian resistance fighters.
In recent weeks Israeli Apache helicopter gunships and UAVs fired missiles into the family homes of two resistance activists, killing and maiming a number of innocent civilians.
In one incident the brother of an Islamic Jihad activist was killed when their family home was attacked with hellfire missiles. Nine other family members, including six women and children, were badly injured in the attack.
According to Gaza journalist Salih Naami, who writes for the London-based pan-Arabic newspaper Asharq Al-Awsat, the Israeli army is increasingly adopting the "Russian style" in its war on virtually defenceless Palestinians -- a reference to the scorched earth tactics reportedly used by Russian forces in Chechnya.
"I think Sharon feels he has obtained a green light from the United States administration to murder Palestinian civilians in a more brazen and less subtle manner," Naami told Al-Ahram Weekly.
"With the Arab world in a state of complete paralysis, the US in the fray of a contentious election where Bush and Kerry are vying to appease Israel, and with the EU content with issuing polite calls for restraint, Sharon feels he is above the world and above international law and that he can do anything he wants with the Palestinians."

Only Arafat Can, by Uri Avnery (Oct. 28, 2004)
http://archives.zinester.com/93796/29266.html
Suddenly, the tone has changed. Millions of words have been written in the past few years about Yasser Arafat, not one percent of which was positive. A totally evil man, the ultimate villain, a despicable murderer, corrupt, and other epitaphs. He must be driven out (meaning: he must be killed) as quickly as possible! If only the Americans would allow us...And now, suddenly, when the possibility of his passing away has become concrete, they change their tune. Former Foreign Minister Shlomo Ben Ami, who had been spreading the poisonous "We Have No Partner" doctrine, has suddenly become lyrical: "Arafat is the soul of the Palestinian People". Others, less poetical, started thinking seriously of a world without Arafat - and grew frightened. For a good reason. Yossi Beilin of the Meretz/Yahad Party talks of the rise of "pragmatic Palestinians". Foreign Minister Silvan Shalom dreams of "A new leadership that will fight terrorism". How easy to dream, when you don't know the Palestinian reality. The simple truth is that Yasser Arafat is the only person with the enormous moral authority needed, not only in order to sign a peace agreement but also - and especially - to lead his people to accept that peace, a peace which will inevitably involve a painful giving up of things which Palestinians hold sacred. It is an illusion to think that a "pragmatic" leadership, which does not enjoy the support of its people and which no longer has an Arafat to give it his moral backing could make this kind of concessions. Equally absurd is the assumption that such a leadership could conduct a head-on struggle with the Tanzim or Hamas militias. The true interest of Israel is that Arafat will completely recover. As long as he is alive - whether imprisoned in the Ramallah compound or free in far-away Paris - it will be he who defines the line. And even if he dies, his program will remain the guiding star: an independent Palestinian state in the whole of the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, with East Jerusalem as its capital; the re-institution of the pre-1967 border (possible with minor exchanges of territory); and the evacuation of all Israeli settlements in the Palestinian territories. It is futile to expect a Palestinian leader to sign an agreement giving less than that, even more futile to expect Palestinians to regard such signature as binding.

THIS FLIES IN THE FACE OF SO-CALLED "CONVENTIONAL WISDOM" BUT THERE SEEMS TO BE SOME MERITS TO THIS THEORY WHICH SAYS THAT OIL MIGHT NOT BE A "FOSSIL FUEL" AT ALL BUT WOULD HAVE WELLED UP FROM DEEP WITHIN THE EARTH'S CRUST.

Supplies of oil may be inexhaustible
By Bruce Bartlett
On April 16, Newsday, the Long Island newspaper, published a startling report that old oil fields in the Gulf of Mexico were somehow being refilled. That is, new oil was being discovered in fields where it previously had not existed. Scientists, led by Mahlon Kennicutt of Texas A&M University, speculate that the new oil is surging upward from deposits well below those currently in production. "Very light oil and gas were being injected from below, even as the producing was going on," he said. Although it is not yet known whether this is a worldwide phenomenon or commercially important, the new discovery suggests that there may be far more oil and gas within the Earth's core than previously thought.
Kennicutt is not the first to suggest that vast hydrocarbon deposits may lie well below those currently known. In 1995, the New York Times reported that geochemist Jean Whelan of the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution in Massachusetts had also found evidence that oil was moving upward into reservoirs from somewhere far deeper.
With growing improvements in technology that are making possible oil drilling at greater and greater depths, it may soon be economically feasible to explore and produce oil from these deep deposits. The existence of oil much farther below the surface than it was previously thought to exist raises new questions about the origins of oil and natural gas. It has commonly been thought that they are the decayed remains of long dead plants and animals. However, as hydrocarbons are found at extreme depths, this explanation becomes increasingly implausible. Astronomer Thomas Gold of Cornell University has long been dissatisfied with the dead dinosaur theory of oil's origins. He argues that oil and gas are in fact the remains of methane left over from the Earth's origin. Methane, he points out, is one of the most common minerals in the universe. When the stars and planets were formed eons ago, it was one of the central building blocks from which matter formed.
If Gold's theory is true, then it makes sense that we would continue to find hydrocarbons everywhere within the Earth's core, and not just at the surface, where plants and animals exist. Thus the new research is at least consistent with Gold's theory, even if it remains to be proven.
The new scientific evidence that energy supplies may be vastly greater than previously imagined is only the latest blow to the doomsayers. Such people have been around for 200 years, preaching that mankind has reached the limit to growth because we have found all the oil there is to be found. For at least a century, for example, the U. S. Geological Survey has consistently reported that America had only about 10 years worth of oil left.
In defence of the Geological Survey, it was referring only to proven reserves. These are fields that have been explored, and where estimates have been made regarding their size and production potential. But of course, exploration is a continuing process, so new reserves are discovered all the time. Economist Julian Simon long made the point that the size of proven reserves cannot be divorced from the price of oil. At current price levels, only about 40 percent of oil can be extracted from existing fields; the remaining 60 percent, which is known to exist, cannot be produced economically and is therefore not included in proven reserve estimates. However, higher prices and advanced technology can easily make it profitable to expand production in existing fields.
Higher prices also encourage exploration into areas that geologists strongly suspect to have oil, but where drilling costs are too high at present. Only a small portion of the Earth's surface has ever been explored for oil, and there is no reason to believe that there are not many large deposits yet to be discovered.
If oil were really becoming more scarce, we would expect to see prices rising over time. In fact, the real price of oil, adjusted for inflation, has been remarkably stable at around $15 per barrel. Temporary price spikes by OPEC (the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries) have not proved sustainable because they brought forth new supplies, encouraged substitution of oil with coal or gas, and stimulated conservation by consumers and businesses.
In short, even if the new scientific evidence about oil is wrong, one can still say the world will never run out of it. Higher prices will always bring new supplies to market. As Bjorn Lomberg points out in his new book, The Sceptical Environmentalist (Cambridge University Press), $40 per barrel oil will immediately increase world reserves from a 40 years supply to 250 years because vast known oil shale deposits will become economically viable.
Of all the things we have to worry about in this day and age, running out of oil should not be one of them.

OIL - A RENEWABLE and ABIOTIC FUEL?
"Oil is often called a 'fossil' fuel; the idea being that it comes from formerly living organisms. This may have been plausible back when oil wells were drilled into the fossil layers of the earth's crust; but today, great quantities of oil are found in deeper wells that are found below the level of any fossils. How could then oil have come from fossils, or decomposed former living matter, if it exists in rock formations far below layers of fossils the evidence of formerly living organisms? It must not come from living matter at all!"
Crude oil was made to be thought of as "Fossil" fuel by the Nineteenth Century oil producers to create the concept that it was of limited supply and therefore extremely valuable. This fits with the "Depletion"allowance philosophical scam and current day price fixing. During one of our C. S. I. S. "International Nights" (1978) the Common Market Energy boss, M. Montibrial of France, told us that while petroleum was being marketed then for $20. 00 per barrel or more, it cost no more than 25 cents per barrel at the wellhead. There is our petroleum problem! We were paying more than $1. 50-$1. 60 per gallon, one 42nd of a barrel, at that time.
Petroleum discussion Update for March 1997
FOSSIL-FUEL THEORY DEBUNKED: OIL, GAS DEPOSITS CALLED PRIMORDIAL
by Toledo Blade
SEATTLE - The public's most widely known piece of geological knowledge--how petroleum and natural-gas deposits formed on Earth -- is false, a noted scientist says. Surprisingly, his campaign to rewrite school textbooks and encyclopaedias is getting grudging support from some geologists, who acknowledge that petroleum's origins may be dramatically different from what people believe.
Millions of Americans learned in grade school that oil deposits originated in the age of dinosaurs, when vegetation in lush forests was buried and subjected to high heat and pressure. Those extreme conditions supposedly transformed the hydrocarbons in vegetation into the hydrocarbons of petroleum.
"That's nonsense," snapped Thomas Gold, a scientist at Cornell University. "There's not a shred of evidence from chemistry, geology, or any other science to support it. It has no place in textbooks and school classrooms. "
In appearances at the annual meeting of The American Association for the Advancement of Science in Seattle here that ended Thursday, Gold repeatedly challenged geologists to reconsider and reject the conventional theory.
Gold also presented evidence that oil and gas deposits on Earth are primordial. That means they came with the planet. They were part of the original raw material that formed the sun and planets, and deposited deep below Earth's surface when the planet formed 4. 5 billion years ago.
Some of the oil gradually oozes upward from these original deposits 100 to 200 miles below the surface and collects where oil drillers can reach it.
In one presentation, Gold described shafts that he and associates drilled in an ancient meteorite impact crater in Sweden. They drilled into a kind of rock that was not sedimentary, not associated with the sediments believed to produce oil deposits. At a depth of about 4 miles, they encountered a hydrocarbon oil similar to light petroleum that Gold believes was primordial oil. He noted a variety of evidence to support the belief. Gold estimated that this single site contained "more petroleum than all of Saudi Arabia. " With current technology, however, pumping it out would be impossible, he added. Gold contended that many other planets and planetary bodies in the solar system have similar deep deposits of hydrocarbons, which are the stuff of oil and natural gas. Gold argues that a primordial origin for petroleum is the only way to explain its chemical composition.
Petroleum originating from plant matter decayed by bacteria, similar to bacteria that decay backyard garden-compost piles, would resemble a microbial product. Instead, petroleum is chemically similar to a pure hydrocarbon that has been contaminated with microbial material. That contamination, he argues, occurred as petroleum seeped upward through rock now known to contain enormous amounts of bacterial life. In moving upward, petroleum also collected helium, explaining why oil wells are such a rich source of helium.
"This is the only possible explanation," Gold said. "The association of helium with petroleum has not been accounted for in any other way."
---
Two days after I read his statement I encountered the following statement in a newspaper I deeply respect:
"Any geologist will tell you, well, most geologists will tell you that OIL IS CREATED BY THE MAGMA OF THE EARTH. The oil wells in Pennsylvania that were pumped out dry at the turn of the century and capped are now filled with oil again. "
During one meeting we took a "Buffet Break" At the table with us were four young geologists busily talking about Petroleum. At one point one of them made reference to "Petroleum as organic matter, and a fossil fuel. " Right out of the Rockefeller bible. Kantrowitz turned to the geologist beside him and asked, "Do you really believe that petroleum is a fossil fuel?" The man said, "Certainly" and all four of them joined in. Kantrowitz listened quietly and then said, "The deepest fossil ever found has been at about 16,000 feet below sea level; yet we are getting oil from wells drilled to 30,000 and more. How could fossil fuel get down there? If it was once living matter, it had to be on the surface. If it did turn into petroleum, at or near the surface, how could it ever get to such depths? What is heavier Oil or Water?" Water: so it would go down, not oil. Oil would be on top, if it were "organic" and "lighter. "
Second posting July 9
Hello Ian,
This link has some very interesting facts on the origins of crude oil from a Russian perspective, and details major oil finds in the Ukraine where no sedimentary oil bearing strata exists. Note also that these facts were discovered in the 1950's so the world oil industry has taken us all on a merry dance of price manipulation and fixing. It is interesting to note that Esso (EXON) oil Australia has publicly stated the imminent depletion of oil reserves in Bass Strait on three separate occasions but the oil just keeps on flowing. And of course the federal government support the big lie so they can continue to collect over 14 billion dollars from fuel excise from a population that are too gullible to realise that we have a major fuel shortage imposed upon us every fifteen years in order to force up the whole sale price.
Also I am trying to locate a book by "Thomas Gold" that explains the geological science behind the abyssal abiotic origins for petroleum and demolishes the accepted theory of biological surface deposition for oil deposits.
"The overwhelming preponderance of geological evidence compels the conclusion that crude oil and natural petroleum gas have no intrinsic connection with biological matter originating near the surface of the Earth. They are primordial materials which have been erupted from great depths. "
Academician Professor Vladimir B. Porfiryev, senior petroleum exploration geologist for the U. S. S. R. , at the All-Union Conference on Petroleum and Petroleum Geology, Moscow, 1956.

More Evidence For Sustainable Oil (October 7, 2004)
http://www.rense.com/general54/moreevi.htm
After reading the article posted today on your website "Sustainable Oil", I smell a conspiracy here! An oil industry conspiracy to drive oil prices through the roof by floating the lie that oil is created from organic processes and is in limited supply. (Fossils) I did a search on google on the subject using the term "Origins of Petroleum" and found a wealth of info backing up the authors claims... see below. The Origins of Oil and Petroleum Date: Mon, 29 Jul 1996 17:54:57 PDT From: "Daniel E. Reynolds" Subject: Oil - A REWEWABLE and ABIOTIC FUEL? On June 20th, 1996 Col. Prouty stated. . . "Oil is often called a 'fossil' fuel; the idea being that it comes from formerly living organisms. This may have been plausible back when oil wells were drilled into the fossil layers of the earth's crust; but today, great quantities of oil are found in deeper wells that are found below the level of any fossils. How could then oil have come from fossils, or decomposed former living matter, if it exists in rock formations far below layers of fossils - the evidence of formerly living organisms? It must not come from living matter at all!" CLIP
Methane In Deep Earth: A Possible New Source Of Energy (13 Sept 2004)
http://www.eurekalert.org/pub_releases/2004-09/dlnl-mid091304.php
(...) Methane is the most plentiful hydrocarbon in Earth's crust and is a main component of natural gas. However, oil and gas wells are typically only drilled 5 to 10 kilometers beneath the surface. These depths correspond to pressures of a few thousand atmospheres.Using a diamond anvil cell, the scientists squeezed materials common at Earth's surface -- iron oxide (FeO), calcite (CaCO3) (the primary component of marble) and water to pressures ranging from 50,000 to 110,000 atmospheres and temperatures more than 2,500 degrees Fahrenheit -- to create conditions similar to those found deep within Earth. Methane (CH4) formed by combining the carbon in calcite with the hydrogen in water. The reaction occurred over a range of temperatures and pressures. Methane production was most favorable at 900 degrees Fahrenheit and 70,000 atmospheres of pressure. The experiments show that a non-biological source of hydrocarbons may lie in Earth's mantle and was created from reactions between water and rock -- not just from the decomposition of living organisms. £6m [11m USD] Ad Alert On Global Warming (Oct 24)
http://www.guardian.co.uk/climatechange/story/0,12374,1334748,00.html
A series of graphic warnings about the dangers of climate change and the £200 billion damage that could be caused by global warming will be launched next week as part of a multi-million-pound government campaign to urge consumers to use less energy. A hard-hitting report will provide apocalyptic descriptions of sweltering summers and massive winter floods, disappearing village greens, daffodils and fish stocks, and infestations of scorpions and pests - all as soon as 2050. It will be followed by a government-backed advertising campaign in the press and on billboards. A bid has also been made to show them on television. The campaign will urge people to use less energy and so curb emissions blamed for global warming which causes climate change. The mass campaign - with a total budget of £6m - will be seen as an admission by ministers that Britain needs to do more to avoid the dangers of climate change. The adverts will urge people to take action in their own lives - from turning down the thermostat to insulating their home to choosing a 'greener' car. The government's Energy Saving Trust (EST) estimates people waste £5bn of energy a year. The report also details an 'Alternative Future' - where everybody drives an electric or fuel-cell car made of recyclable soya oil and lives in fully insulated homes. CLIP
How George Bush Lost The Sun

Solar power could be a source of new jobs and an answer to global warming. So why has the U.S. fallen behind other nations in developing it?
Climate Hot Map
http://www.climatehotmap.org
1.
How many members of the Bush Administration does it take to screw in a light bulb?
The Answer is TEN:
1. one to deny that a light bulb needs to be changed,
2. one to attack the patriotism of anyone who says the light bulb needs to be changed,
3. one to blame Clinton for burning out the light bulb,
4. one to tell the nations of the world that they are either for changing the
light bulb or for darkness,
5. one to give a billion dollar no-bid contract to Haliburton for the new light bulb,
6. one to arrange a photograph of Bush, dressed as a janitor, standing on a step ladder under the banner "Light bulb Change Accomplished",
7. one administration insider to resign and write a book documenting in detail how Bush was literally "in the dark",
8. one to viciously smear #7,
9. one surrogate to campaign on TV and at rallies on how George Bush has had a strong light-bulb-changing policy all along,
10. and finally one to confuse Americans about the difference between screwing a light bulb and screwing the country.
