The Empire of Darkness Series #17: Banana Democracy Headed by Ayatollah Bush

Hello everyone

This compilation which is replete with evidence indicating that Tuesday's election was yet another neocon coup d'etat and completely rigged in favor of Bush, should vindicate all those who like me refused to believe what they said on the telievision and in the McNews.

There is no need to put any more spin to this fact than what the title of this compilation alludes to...

Draw your own conclusions..

"I'm convinced from the exit polls yesterday we've been taken for a ride. Everything I've ever read says exit polls have never been wrong and the lame excuses they're giving for why yesterday's failed just don't cut it. Exit polls are traditionally used to keep elections honest and aren't questioned because of their accuracy."

- Mark Graffis in a comment about "Elections as virtual reality"

"Dr. Blass obtained this information when he was on the staff at Bay Point School," Fisher stated. Bay Point School is a juvenile correctional facility in the Miami area. "I was told the school is a suspected training ground in computer science and programming for juvenile delinquents who manipulate electronic voting, without a true audit trail. It is believed that this activity is taking place not only there but in several schools like these nationwide. If true, then Bay Point School could be the Florida connection."

"As known all along, the Republican plan was for a complete rigging of those voting machines with no paper ballots, and this is exactly what the they have done. In states where there were paper ballots the results exactly matched the exit polls. In states where there were only paperless voting machines, Bush showed an inexplicable 5-8 point or more difference from the polls, contradicting otherwise accurate exit polls. The evidence is clear, but those who will attend to it will be few, as the implications are too much for most people to contemplate."

"It's the ultimate triumph of extremely sophisticated, media-complicit propaganda," I explained. "Only in America has a virtual reality manufactured by the same corporations profiting from the wars they sell completely displaced the reality shared by the remaining 96% of the planet." Prescott Bush, who financed Adolph Hitler's rise to power, would be proud of his great grandson. But the Nazi propaganda minister Goebbels would be awestruck and jealous of his star student. You had to hand it to Karl Rove for taking Hitler's most manipulative insight to the ultimate level of hypnotically televised mass mesmerization. Keep repeating the same lie over and over again, Rove kept telling GW, and even in the face of relentless reality — even if you persist in doing the exact opposite of what you say you are doing — the most outrageous fabrications will eventually become facts‚ swallowed by nearly every rube.”

"Hi! Before I start to read your stuff, I just wanted to let you know that both Isis and I had a dream last night - both of us saw the deception destroyed and the Light prevailed. Now you know that has to be comforting. All in a moments time. I know that we cannot be totally surrounded by Morons, so one must see that there is some deception going on about this entire matter."

- Laura and Isis received on 4 Nov 2004

"Difficult and painful as it is, we must walk on in the days ahead with an audacious faith in the future. When our days become dreary with low-hovering clouds of despair, and when our nights become darker than a thousand midnights, let us remember that there is a creative force in this universe, working to pull down the gigantic mountains of evil, a power that is able to make a way out of no way and transform dark yesterdays into bright tomorrows. Let us realize the arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice."

Blatant Exit Poll - Final Count Disparities Analysis By Faun Otter - Vote Fraud Expert (11-5-4) MOST CONVINCING THAT THERE WAS INDEED MASSIVE VOTE RIGGING!
http://rense.com/general59/blatantexitpollfinal.htm
(...) So, what do we actually see when comparing exit polls with actual results? There is skew - but ONLY in states which the Republicans had previously stated to be target states in play. The skew is in the same direction every time; that is to say in favor of Bush. The exit poll results are not scattered about the mean as the alternative theory predicts. They are all on the Kerry side of the vote counts as issued by the states except for a hand full of states which hit amazingly close to the exit poll figures. (...) Taking the figures and measuring the size and direction of the poll to supposed vote count discrepancy, we find the variance between the exit poll and the final result:
- Wisconsin: Bush plus 4%
- Pennsylvania: Bush plus 5%
- Ohio: Bush plus 4%
- Florida: Bush plus 7%
- Minnesota: Bush plus 7%
- New Hampshire: Bush plus 15%
- North Carolina: Bush plus 9%.

US Seals Off Falluja as Assault Begins (11/05/2004)
http://www.indybay.org/archives/archive_by_id.php?id=2601&category_id=48
Falluja is now shut off from the outside world; the U.S. military has blocked roads and have warned they will "arrest any man under the age of 45 found trying to leave or enter the city". A ground assualt on Falluja and Ramadi is expected within days. Resistance fighters in Ramadi have been reinforcing their positions and stockpiling food and water, but civilians in Falluja are worried that they could quickly run out of food due to the US blockade. While some Fallujans have abandoned their city expecting post-election destruction, over 100,000 residents remain. Kofi Annan has warned the US and Britain about the humanitarian disaster that could come with a military assault. The assault on Falluja appears to have been timed to come after the US election, due to a fear by Bush that high US casualties could have hurt his re-election chances. While both political parties in the US spoke in support of an attack on Falluja, the Bush election victory has worried many Iraqis since it seems to provide a popular mandate for Bush's policies in the region. One difference between the looming assault on Falluja and the assault last April will be the participation of British troops. Outrage in Ohio: Angry residents storm State House in response to massive voter suppression and corruption (November 3 - VERY COMPREHENSIVE ARTICLE!)
http://michiganimc.org/feature/display/7644/index.php
Toledo, Ohio Hundreds of angry Ohio residents marched through the streets of Columbus—Ohio’s Capital—this evening and stormed the Ohio State House, defying orders and arrest threats from Ohio State Troopers. "O-H-I-O ! suppressed democracy has got to go," they chanted. After troopers pushed and scuffled with people, nearly a hundred people took over the steps and entrance to the State’s giant white column capital building and refused repeated orders to disperse or face arrest. People prepared for arrests, ready to face jail—writing lawyers phone numbers on their arms, signing jail support lists and discussing non-cooperation and active resistance (linking arms, but not fighting back). A freshly painted banner held on the steps read "ONE VOTE DENIED = DEMOCRACY IN TROUBLE! 100’S OF 1000’S OF VOTES SURPRESSED = DEMOCRACY FAILED" articulated the crisis. An unprecedented massive grassroots voter registration and get out the vote effort and widespread opposition to Bush went up against the massive coordinated Republican effort to suppress, intimidate and possibly steal millions of votes. In addition to the voter suppression and intimidation is the fact that Bush campaign co-chair Secretary of State Kenneth Blackwell is in charge of the election and vote counting. But much deeper questions about fundamental flaws in the system hang in the air. CNN's exit poll showed Kerry beating Bush among Ohio women by 53 percent to 47 percent. Kerry also defeated Bush among Ohio's male voters 51 percent to 49 percent. Investigative reporter Greg Palast in an article today titled "Kerry Won" details how the deciding states, Ohio and New Mexico, if all votes were actually counted, would have gone to Kerry. Palast explains, "Although the exit polls show that most voters in Ohio punched cards for Kerry-Edwards, thousands of these votes were simply not recorded. The election in Ohio was not decided by the voters but by something called "spoilage." Typically in the United States, about 3 percent of the vote is voided, just thrown away, not recorded." But that is just a piece of it. The Ohio state House takeover was the culmination of an eight-hour long afternoon of protest at the state capitol by Ohio student and youth groups (The Columbus and Toledo Leagues of Pissed Off Voters, and Reach Out-Bowling Green) together with Columbus residents followed by a 300 strong 6pm march led by the Central Ohio Peace Network. The earlier speak-out featured a litany of people who experienced or witnessed voter suppression, intimidation and disenfranchisement before and during the election. Thousand of Ohio voters had been disenfranchised by partisan poll challengers, intimidation incidents, polling places opening late, lines up to four and five hours long -- often in the rain. Here are a few of their stories: (...) But even before election day, the Baltimore Chronicle reported November 1 that "Through a combination of sophisticated vote rustling—ethnic cleansing of voter rolls, absentee ballots gone AWOL, machines that "spoil" votes---John Kerry begins with a nationwide deficit that could easily exceed one million votes." Troy, Michigan Republican State Rep. John Pappageorge, a Michigan Bush campaign Co-Chair, was quoted in July 16 edition of the Detroit Free Press as saying, "If we do not suppress the Detroit vote, we're going to have a tough time in this election." Blacks comprise 83 percent of Detroit's population, and the city routinely elects Democratic candidates by substantial margins. The British Broadcasting Company has also disclosed a memo to top Republican officials in Florida identifying voters in predominantly black precincts for possible challenge. The secretaries of state, usually the chief election official at the state level, in four battleground states--Michigan, Missouri, Florida, and Ohio have all taken top campaign posts for Bush and have been accused of manipulating state election laws to restrict voter access on behalf of Republicans. Ultra-right Ohio Secretary of State, J. Kenneth Blackwell, the co-chair of the Ohio Bush campaign, together with the Ohio Republican Party are at the center of this nationwide effort to steal the election through voter suppression, intimidation and corruption. Grand Theft Election (Nov 5)
http://www.globalresearch.ca/articles/MAD411A.html
Karl Rove, the political sorcerer who is called "turd blossom" by his political master George W. Bush has his nasty fingerprints all over the 2004 Election in a scam that can best be called "Grand Theft Election."There was something very wrong in Ohio, which Bush claims he won handily. Not only had the head of computer voting machine maker Diebold and Ohio's Republican establishment of Governor Bob Taft and Secretary of State Kenneth Blackwell conspired to suppress registration and voter turnout in heavily Democratic precincts but the Ohio Secretary of State web site was only reporting results from 9 counties as of 11:30 AM on November 3, just three hours before John Kerry conceded the election to Bush. Totaling the results from the 9 counties (Fayette, Fairfield, Geauga, Jefferson, Portage, Mahoning, Trumbull, Richland, and Washington), John Kerry was clearly ahead. A 10th county, Columbiana, suspiciously showed up as "NO RESULTS. "The totals from the 8 Ohio counties reported on the Secretary of State web site were: BUSH: 267,771 KERRY: 294, 648 (...) The fact that Diebold machines were used in the Ohio rip-off should make O'Dell and Timken the subjects of criminal investigations. Of course, that will not happen in a GOP vassal state like Ohio. But why not a civil suit by those of us nationwide who voted for Kerry and had our presidency stolen from us as a result of racketeering and corrupt practices by a cabal of Republicans and fat cat corporate types? The Ultimate Felony Against a Democracy (Nov 4)
http://www.commondreams.org/views04/1104-38.htm
The hot story in the Blogosphere is that the "erroneous" exit polls that showed Kerry carrying Florida and Ohio (among other states) weren't erroneous at all - it was the numbers produced by paperless voting machines that were wrong, and Kerry actually won. As more and more analysis is done of what may (or may not) be the most massive election fraud in the history of the world, however, it's critical that we keep the largest issue at the forefront at all time: Why are We The People allowing private, for-profit corporations, answerable only to their officers and boards of directors, and loyal only to agendas and politicians that will enhance their profitability, to handle our votes? (...) Why have we let corporations into our polling places, locations so sacred to democracy that in many states even international election monitors and reporters are banned? Why are we allowing corporations to exclusively handle our vote, in a secret and totally invisible way? Particularly a private corporation founded, in one case, by a family that believes the Bible should replace the Constitution; in another case run by one of Ohio's top Republicans; and in another case partly owned by Saudi investors? Of all the violations of the commons - all of the crimes against We The People and against democracy in our great and historic republic - this is the greatest. Our vote is too important to outsource to private corporations. It's time that the USA - like most of the rest of the world - returns to paper ballots, counted by hand by civil servants (our employees) under the watchful eye of the party faithful. Even if it takes two weeks to count the vote, and we have to just go, until then, with the exit polls of the news agencies. It worked just fine for nearly 200 years in the USA, and it can work again. When the polls closed in Chicago, American Free Press was at the Cook County clerk's office to see how the secretive private company that operates the voting machines in America's third largest city actually controls the counting of the votes (...) I was surprised to see so few people attending such an important event. In France, scores of citizens watch the vote count in each polling station. (...) After calling and personally visiting ES&S headquarters in Omaha and Chicago, I can say it is the most secretive company I have ever come across. In August, I visited ES&S company headquarters on John Galt Blvd. in Omaha. Although the company says it is the largest voting machine company in the United States, they were unable to provide any information about their company or their products. The ownership of the company is a closely-guarded secret. I asked to meet with Todd Urosevich, one of the two brothers that founded the company. Bob and Todd Urosevich started ES&S as a company called Data Mark in the early 1980s. Today, Bob Urosevich heads Ohio-based Diebold Election Systems, a competitor of ES&S and the second largest U.S. manufacturer of electronic voting machines. Together, the computerized ballot scanners and touch-screen voting machines systems made by ES&S and Diebold recorded some 80 percent of all votes cast in the recent U.S. presidential election. (...) "I've observed elections across Europe, I added, "from France and Germany to Serbia and Holland. Presidential Votes Miscast on e-Voting Machines Throughout The Country (Nov 4)
http://www.infowars.net/Pages/Nov_04/041104_votes.html
Voters from at least half a dozen states reported that touch-screen voting machines had incorrectly recorded their choices, including for president. Voters discovered the problems when checking the review screen at the end of the voting process. They found, to their surprise, that the machines indicated that they voted for one candidate when they had voted for another. When voters tried to correct the problem, the machine often made the same error several times. While in most cases the situation was reportedly resolved, many voters remain uneasy about whether the proper vote was ultimately cast. Meanwhile, voting experts are concerned that other voters are experiencing the problem, but failing to notice that the machine is indicating the wrong choice on the "summary" screen. Election observers with the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) and Verified Voting Foundation (VVF) reported today that the problem, which some voting officials initially attributed to fluke "voter error," is evidently widespread and may even be relatively common with touch-screen machines. Within parts of the U.S. progressive community there is already widespread concern that electronic voting fraud may provide an explanation for the astonishing 8 million vote gain made by George W. Bush in the 2004 presidential U.S. election. Already there a variety of odd phenomena which have aroused suspicions about this possibility:For example :- In Florida Bush received a million extra votes, while Kerry received only 500,000 extra votes, in spite of a massive Democratic Get-Out-The-Vote(GOTV) and registration campaign in that state; - In Florida's Broward County, a democratic stronghold and heavily black community, unauditable voting machines recorded a 33% (70,000+) vote gain on Bush's 2000 results and a much smaller gain to Kerry – again Broward was the scene of a massive GOTV campaign; CLIP

I don't want rain on the parade but I am getting quite a few emails from various sources citing possible irregularities with the voting process. So, I did a little research myself on the net to see what I could find. As a political scientist I could not resist. (...) Various people sent me mail saying that it is awfully fishy that the exit polls and final results were substantially different in some places. I hope someone will follow this up and actually do a careful analysis. Does anyone know of a Website containing all the exit poll data? If we go to computerized voting without a paper trail and the machines can be set up to cheat, that is the end of our democracy. Switching 5 votes per machine is probably all it would take to throw an election and nobody would ever see it unless someone compares the computer totals and exit polls. I am still very concerned about the remark of Walden O'Dell a Republican fund raiser and CEO of Diebold, which makes voting machines saying he would deliver Ohio for President Bush. CLIP

Kerry winning Exit Polls - FRAUD LOOKS PROBABLE - SoCalDem has done a statistical analysis... On several swing states, and EVERY STATE that has EVoting but no paper trails has an unexplained advantage for Bush of around +5% when comparing exit polls to actual results. In EVERY STATE that has paper audit trails on their EVoting, the exit poll results match the actual results reported within the margin of error. So, we have MATCHING RESULTS for exit polls vs. voting with audits vs. A 5% unexplained advantage for Bush without audits. Maybe Dubayah believes God will see him through this, but it's going to take more than blind faith to pull the wool over the data and the facts. Analysis of the polling data vs actual data and voting systems supports the hypothesis that evoting may be to blame in the discrepancies. Nevada has evoting but with verified receipts. In that state the Exit Polling matches the actual results within .1% accuracy. However for other swing states Bush has unexplainable leads. CLIP

How to Hack an Election (January 31, 2004)
http://www.nytimes.com/2004/01/31/opinion/31SAT1.html
Absolute irrefutable proof, from the NY Times no less, that the new voting machines allow elections to be hacked. Concerned citizens have been warning that new electronic voting technology being rolled out nationwide can be used to steal elections. Now there is proof. When the State of Maryland hired a computer security firm to test its new machines, these paid hackers had little trouble casting multiple votes and taking over the machines' vote-recording mechanisms. The Maryland study shows convincingly that more security is needed for electronic voting, starting with voter-verified paper trails. When Maryland decided to buy 16,000 AccuVote-TS voting machines, there was considerable opposition. Critics charged that the new touch-screen machines, which do not create a paper record of votes cast, were vulnerable to vote theft. The state commissioned a staged attack on the machines, in which computer-security experts would try to foil the safeguards and interfere with an election. They were disturbingly successful. It was an "easy matter," they reported, to reprogram the access cards used by voters and vote multiple times. They were able to attach a keyboard to a voting terminal and change its vote count. And by exploiting a software flaw and using a modem, they were able to change votes from a remote location.Critics of new voting technology are often accused of being alarmist, but this state-sponsored study contains vulnerabilities that seem almost too bad to be true. Maryland's 16,000 machines all have identical locks on two sensitive mechanisms, which can be opened by any one of 32,000 keys. The security team had no trouble making duplicates of the keys at local hardware stores, although that proved unnecessary since one team member picked the lock in "approximately 10 seconds." CLIP

This pretty much sums it up, 2000 the race was a dead heat, and now after four years of the Bush nightmare we‚re supposed to believe he has even more support? I don't buy it, sure some people are in denial about how bad Bush really is, but most Americans I know realize that our country is headed for disaster, and nobody wants more of this bullshit these lying bastards are sticking us with. (...) While I don't know if Mr. Diebold CEO delivered on his promise to deliver Ohio's electoral votes to Bush via rigging two points bear repeating: 1. As Randi Rhodes pointed out, do you really believe we had a record turnout and that people stood in hours in the rain, etc. to maintain the status quo? 2. AFAIK few people are talking about the difference between the exit polling showing Kerry doing well with the final vote. I find this unconvincing in light of this noting the polling of early voters *had* been done. (...) These are reversals of the early voting pattern and eerily mirrors the particularly troubling comment from the first link - "The exit polls missed the mark very badly last night (before they were reweighted to correspond to the actual results). The national exit poll consistently showed Kerry leading by 3 points -- just the reverse of the actual vote."This is eerie unless you've read Bev Harris's Black Box Voting: Ballot Tampering in the 21st Century and know that this is something to expect if the voting machines have been rigged.Folks this isn't the first race or even the second in which this *exact* same thing happened. Isn't it odd that in the races in which the final tally was the reverse of the polls, that the beneficiary is a Republican? (...) But to the voter (of whatever political flavor) who thinks we had a fair and open election - what would it take to make you question that assumption? http://iht.com/bin/print_ipub.php?file=/articles/2004/11/02/news/observe.html
MIAMI - The global implications of the U.S. election are undeniable, but international monitors at a polling station in southern Florida said Tuesday that voting procedures being used in the extremely close contest fell short in many ways of the best global practices. The observers said they had less access to polls than in Kazakhstan, that the electronic voting had fewer fail-safes than in Venezuela, that the ballots were not so simple as in the Republic of Georgia and that no other country had such a complex national election system. "To be honest, monitoring elections in Serbia a few months ago was much simpler," said Konrad Olszewski, an election observer stationed in Miami by the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe. "They have one national election law and use the paper ballots I really prefer over any other system," Olszewski said. CLIP

No Surrender By Paul Krugman (No Surrender)

President Bush isn't a conservative. He's a radical - the leader of a coalition that deeply dislikes America as it is. Part of that coalition wants to tear down the legacy of Franklin Roosevelt, eviscerating Social Security and, eventually, Medicare. Another part wants to break down the barriers between church and state. And thanks to a heavy turnout by evangelical Christians, Mr. Bush has four more years to advance that radical agenda. Democrats are now, understandably, engaged in self-examination. But while it's O.K. to think things over, those who abhor the direction Mr. Bush is taking the country must maintain their intensity; they must not succumb to defeatism. CLIP

Americans flock to Canada's immigration Web site (Nov 5)
http://www.reuters.co.uk/printerFriendlyPopup.jhtml?type=topNews&storyID=616225
(...) Canada is one of the few major nations with an large-scale immigration policy. Ottawa is seeking to attract between 220,000 and 240,000 newcomers next year. "Let's face it, we have a population of a little over 32 million and we definitely need permanent residents to come to Canada," said Iadinardi. "If we could meet (the 2005) target and go above it, the more the merrier." (...) The waiting time to become a citizen is shorter for people married to Canadians, which prompted the birth of a satirical Web site called www.marryanamerican.ca. The idea of increased immigration by unhappy Americans is triggering some amusement in Canada. Commentator Thane Burnett of the Ottawa Sun newspaper wrote a tongue-in-cheek guide to would-be new citizens on Friday."As Canadians, you'll have to learn to embrace and use all the products and culture of Americans, while bad-mouthing their way of life," he said.

US Results Could Spur A Canadian Brain Gain (Nov 5)
http://rense.com/general59/USresultscouldspur.htm
In the months leading up to the American Presidential election, I had a number of progressive-minded Americans say to me "If Bush wins, I'm moving to Canada." They weren't being flippant and they certainly weren't alone. In fact, Googling the terms "Bush" + "I'm moving to Canada" generates an incredible 5,580 hits. (...) According to an article in the San Francisco Chronicle, countries such as New Zealand and Australia were also reporting a surge in immigration-related inquiries on the day after the election. (...) Still, I'm actually hoping that most of them stick around to continue the fight against Bush's policies. If everyone who disagreed with Richard Nixon and the Vietnam War had fled the country in 1972 (when Nixon won a crushing majority), they wouldn't have been around to witness his resignation and the subsequent defeat of his successor Gerald Ford. The website Common Dreams has published a list of Ten Reasons Not to Move to Canada. Among them: (...) Let's be brutally frank: there are so many reasons that Bush's agenda needs to be opposed that it would take an encyclopedia to list them all. Polls show that Canadians were overwhelmingly opposed to Bush's re-election, even among Conservative Party supporters. There is much that we can do to assist those Americans who decide to stick around and fight. We can push our own government to say no to Bush's Missile Defence Program. We can insist that Ottawa say no to any renewed request for Canadian involvement in Iraq. And, we can continue to set a strong example by maintaining a strong public health care system and pursuing progressive social policies such as legalizing same-sex marriage, keeping abortion accessible and decriminalizing marijuana possession. A NEW PROGRESSIVE ERA OR NEOCON FASCIST DICTATORSHIP? (October 30, 2004)
http://www.globalresearch.ca/articles/TAR410A.html
(...) On the other hand, if Bush retains control of the White House, we can expect a neocon fascist dictatorship or martial law emergency regime in 2005 or 2006, possibly as the result of synthetic terrorism. The neocons are in a desperate flight forward mentality which seeks to avoid the penal consequences of what they have already done with Valerie Plame, the Niger yellowcake forgeries, the Israeli mole scandal, and the Chalabi betrayal of state secrets. The neocon preference is for early war with Iran. War with Russia and China cannot be excluded somewhat further down the road. Bush 41 invaded Somalia even after being defeated at the polls, and this should remind us that the war and synthetic terrorism dangers will remain high even if Bush is defeated at the polls. (...) The stolen 2000 election was a classic neocon cold coup. The synthetic terrorism of September 11 was another coup, this time carried out by the invisible government. The grant by the Congress to Bush of war powers in 2002 was a violation of the Constitution, as Senator Byrd stressed; this was another coup which succeeded. The Iraq war of 2003, illegal on the domestic and international planes, was yet another successful coup. The planned coup of 2004 called for more synthetic terrorism, a wider war, and another Bush stolen election. Countervailing factors have so far prevented a new wave of synthetic terrorism and the opening of a wider war, say with Iran. The great issue is now whether the planned stealing of the election through Diebold and voter intimidation can be checkmated.

People cause more soil erosion than all natural processes (3 Nov 2004)
http://www.eurekalert.org/pub_releases/2004-11/uom-pcm110304.php
ANN ARBOR, Mich.---Human activity causes 10 times more erosion of continental surfaces than all natural processes combined, an analysis by a University of Michigan geologist shows.People have been the main cause of worldwide erosion since early in the first millennium, said Bruce Wilkinson, a U-M professor of geological sciences. Wilkinson will present his findings Nov. 8 at a meeting of the Geological Society of America in Denver, Colo. Many researchers have tried to assess the impact of human activity on soil loss, but most have only guessed at how erosion due to natural forces such as glaciers and rivers compares with that caused by human activity---mainly agriculture and construction, Wilkinson said. He used existing data on sedimentary rock distributions and abundances to calculate rates of natural erosion."If you ask how fast erosion takes place over geologic time---say over the last 500 million years---on average, you get about 60 feet every million years," Wilkinson said. In those parts of the United States where soil is being eroded by human agricultural activity, however, the rate averages around 1,500 feet per million years, and rates are even higher in other parts of the world. Natural processes operate over areas larger than those affected by agriculture and construction, but even taking that into account, "the bottom line is, we move about 10 times as much sediment as all natural processes put together," he said. Because soil formation proceeds at about the same rate as natural erosion, Wilkinson's results mean that humans are stripping soil from the surface of the Earth far faster than nature can replace it. "This situation is particularly critical," Wilkinson said, "because the Earth's human population is growing rapidly and because almost all potentially arable land is now under the plow." Dear Jean

I've subscribed to ERN for just a year or two but massively appreciate the work you do. I had to reply to this last compilation because I've been feeling such an incredibly strong sense of optimism and strength regardless of what has been occurring in the global sphere and regardless of the impossibility of actively taking time to tune in to the global meditation and take time and space to consciously be with the huge community consciously focusing on creating positive outcome from the current events. In some ways tears prick my eyes right now to think of my young sons apparently living through another four years of apparent global control from the same 'corners' as the last four years and before.

But my heart just wont believe it. Whatever the television is telling me, its just not what is really going on. And if nothing else, the last four years has made it more than apparent that what parades across the TV screen (and I only have to witness it because my car broke down and my parents offered me and the kids a bed for the night and a car pool run to school in the morning therefore access to their sky TV in Spain) is only a very limited version of now. My day to day life and my heart's knowing of what is real and true for me and for life around me is that this is just further darkening of shadow so that light becomes all the clearer. All is well. All is as it should be. All is love.

Thank you. Much love to you. Blessings

AN EXCELLENT COMMENT FROM A LONG-TIME ERN SUBSCRIBER

Date: 03 Nov 2004
From: James Lawler
Subject: Analysis of US election results

The election results now allow Bushism to play out to its logical and disastrous conclusion, eventually helping Americans gain a clear perspective on what it means. The unfolding disaster in Iraq will be 100% Bush's responsibility and that of the Republicans. A more radical critique can emerge from the Democratic opposition, which wouldn't have been possible under a Kerry administration committed to "winning" by throwing 40,000 more troops into the mayhem.

The election campaign started the ball rolling, with questioning of the war beginning with the more radical Democratic candidates and then becoming legitimized during the election debates--no doubt weakly by Kerry, but he made it credible to say--1) we shouldn't have gone in in the first place, and 2) we are making a mess of it now.

Add to this: 100,000 Iraqi civilians killed so far (see Scott Ritter article, "The war on Iraq has made moral cowards of us all")--for what justifiable end? Their liberty? Freedom from tyranny? Making the U.S., and the world, a safer place?

The high state of awareness brought about by this campaign, as represented by the big voter turn-out, means that the public eye will be on Bush and this war as never before.

Moral consciousness in America needs to be directed to a unifying, over-riding and compelling moral issue. By pushing divisive so-called moral issues, Bush was able to side-track the voters from the central choice of war or peace, and the high cost of war and its human tragedy both to Americans and to Iraqis. Kerry's position on winning the war undermined any passion for a better world that might have been kindled into a fire that would take attention away from the pathetic hot-button issues that Bush was pressing.

The responsibility is on all of us to raise the level of consciousness by focusing on the revolting facts, asking the right questions, and offering a new vision of the role a better United States can play to promote a better world.

All the best,

A MOST CLEAR-EYED COMMENT FROM ANOTHER LONG-TIME ERN SUBSCRIBER

Date: 3 Nov 2004
From: Peter Phillips
Subject: Democracy Fails: Corporations Win

Democracy Fails: Corporations Win

By Peter Phillips

Democracy in the United States is only a shadow in a corporate media cave of deceit, lies and incomplete information. We stand ignorant of what the powerful are doing in our name and how the corporate media ignores key issues affecting us all.

A young professional couple from San Diego stated the weekend before the election, "we don't think voting will make any difference so why bother?" Over 80 million eligible voters joined them by refusing to participate in the most recent election. While having been a voter for 35 years, I can't fault them for their logic. November 2 gave us a choice between war and more war, corporate globalization and more corporate globalization; the continuation of gifting billions of dollars to Israel, the Patriot Act and an expanded Patriot Act; a police state and a seriously growing police state, media monopoly and even bigger media monopolies; and wealth inequality or an even greater wealth divide. With the only alternative to these issues being minor candidates without a snowball's chance, for many voting seemed meaningless.

The issues where a choice was offered, abortion, Social Security, and medical care, were so under-covered by the corporate media that most voters still don't understand the differences. Voting ended up being a faith-based decision embedded on visceral reactions to individuals instead of key societal issues.

The real winners November 2 are the military industrial complex, who will continue to feed at the 500 billion-dollar military trough and the corporate media, whose coffers were filled with billions of dollars for campaign ads.

And can we be sure we actually had a fair election among those who did vote? Election Systems & Software (ES&S), Diebold, and Sequoia are the companies primarily involved in implementing the new voting stations throughout the country. All three have strong ties to the Bush Administration. The largest investors in ES&S, Sequoia, and Diebold are government defense contractors Northrup-Grumman, Lockheed-Martin, Electronic Data Systems (EDS) and Accenture. Diebold hired Scientific Applications International Corporation (SAIC) of San Diego to develop the software security in their voting machines. A majority of officials on SAIC's board are former members of either the Pentagon or the CIA including:

- Army Gen. Wayne Downing, formerly on the National Security Council
- Bobby Ray Inman; former CIA Director
- Retired Adm. William Owens, former vice chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff
- Robert Gates, another former director of the CIA.

So we have a CIA/military private firm that programmed the security in the voting machines for companies owned by some of the largest military contracts in the country. No wonder the Co-founder of the Citizens Alliance for Secure Elections, Susan Truitt said November 3: "Seven counties in Ohio have electronic voting machines and none of them have paper trails. That alone raises issues of accuracy and integrity as to how we can verify the count. A recount without a paper trail is meaningless; you just get a regurgitation of the data. Last year, Blackwell tried to get the entire state to buy new machines without a paper trail. The exit polls, virtually the only check we have against tampering with a vote without a paper trail, had shown Kerry with a lead. ... A poll worker told me this morning that there were no tapes of the results posted on some machines; on other machines the posted count was zero, which obviously shouldn't be the case."

Our level of non-participation really means democracy has failed in the US. Democracy is the people making decisions about the important issues in their lives. Freedom is the ability to act on these decisions. Without an electoral choice democracy is non-existent and freedom only means the right to choose your own brand of toothpaste. Without an active independent media informing on the powerful, we lack both freedom and democracy.

AND MY COMMENT WAS:

Now what should be our collective next steps to change the situation you describe?

Impeachment? Probably impossible since they control most levers of power now.

Then what? Boycotting all the big corrupt corporations that bought the White House? Mass civil disobedience? Most people would not follow and thus it would have little impact. Public education about all the hidden crimes and issues? Would certainly help but would not make a dent into the hard core fundamentalists who blindly follow their maximus leader.

A mobilization of some sort is in order for we cannot simply stand down and wait in four years from now in the hope the next elections - if they could ever become safe from covert manipulation - could resolve this and, besides, the planet cannot afford that long a wait for real changes. We certainly cannot count on the Democrats for a true, reliable solution as you indicated in your article.

Then creating a new political party with a collegial leadership and consensus-based approach to decision-making, a party truly representing, in a broad and balanced way, the new emerging values in society and trying to rally all progressive forces behind it in the hope to break the monopoly on power of the Republicans and Democrats could possible happen? A long term solution but possibly the only realistic one right now. Yet, if all the celebrities who supported Kerry's candidacy and all the brainpower of progressive people could be harnessed to support the emergence of this Third Way, it could quickly become a political force to be reckoned with before the next elections and be a true alternative to the terminally corrupted two-party system maintaining the United States under the domination of military-corporate interests.

At least a collective heart/brainstorming session on this and other possibilities seems in order...

The key to me is to apply the same ingenuity and can-do attitude that has made the United States the largest economic and military force on Earth towards creating the political leadership the people really deserve today. But above all, such a project would need to apply itself to avoid falling in the same traps of greed, self-interest, self-serving power trips and lack of spiritually grounded vision that befall the rest of the political landscape. I'm not talking leftist versus rightist politics here, but above the fray, truly higher consciousness based people-serving democracy, something never done on such a scale before that only the Americans now anxious enough for real change could achieve, with the assistance and committed support of all progressive forces worldwide, because this kind of American beachhead into the future of enlightened democracy on Earth would also ultimately lead the way for many others to follow, in their own unique, culturally-adjusted fashion, elsewhere around the world.

Now that I believe would be the kind of American Dream most people would ultimately want to support and vote for.

Best regards

Jean

P.S. I'm including my comment above after your letter in this same compilation in the hope it can stir some reflection and movement toward a positive rebounding from the current "low" situation.

P.S.S. After sending yesterday a copy of this correspondence above to over 60 ERN susbcribers in the hope to elicit some feedbacks, the only feedback I got was from DaVid who wanted me to consider as an option the Light Party he founded several years ago - http://www.LightParty.com -- So!... It is probably too early for most people to actually want to consider an alternative such as what I suggested above.

From: "Suzanne Ward"
Subject: Message from Matthew - November 4
Date: 4 Nov 2004

November 4, 2004

S: Matthew, hello dear. I have some questions, but you’re the one who called this meeting, so you go first.

MATTHEW:

Thank you, dear soul, and greetings to you, too. I feel it is extremely important for the people of Earth to know how you look to us. In a word, GLORIOUS! In the message two evenings past, I spoke of our joy in the amount of light being generated by the hearts of enthusiastic voters in the United States. What we are seeing now far surpasses the intensity of light you radiated that day!

Along with the bright light of enthusiasm there was a parallel streamer of anxiety about the election outcome, and now that light-dimming element is gone. Yes, there is widespread disappointment among the population that didn’t want to see the Bush administration continue in office, but far stronger is their determination to more actively than ever before work toward the changes that are essential for the health of your planet. Their energy is not in the negativity of bemoaning loss, but in their positive resolve to bring about those changes for worldwide benefit. Further, the jubilation of the population that desires the Bush administration to continue its course is adding light just as surely. They genuinely feel that he means what he says about ending global terrorism and they feel at peace knowing that he retained his office. So, however divided the country’s people may be on the political issues and the election outcome, a greater brilliance of light is now being generated.

Along with this, I want to tell you the two crucial reasons that the outcome is far, far more advantageous than is logical for you to think. I say “logical to think” because so few are aware of what has been going on behind the scenes. Eventually the truth about the deception of the president and his cabinet throughout their years in control will come forth. When it does, the impact will be infinitely greater on a "sitting" administration than a former one. This is necessary so that Bush’s adherents will be shocked into reconsidering everything that has transpired under his leadership. They will realize that deliberately creating fear has been his intent and his power over them—they will be shaken out of their blindness and forced to start thinking more deeply than formerly.

The second reason is of equal importance. If Kerry had emerged the victor, his adherents—indeed, much of the world!—would have held great hope that his policies would lead to peace, to environmental protection, to greater economic stability, to kinder, more just treatment of those who, under the former presidency, were disenfranchised in many areas of basic needs and constitutional rights. That hope would not have been realized. None of the campaign promises would have come to fruition, and the dawning of that truth eventually would have led to despair and, added to the revelations about the former administration, the fact of total betrayal would have sent that nation to its knees. The divine plan, which you do know at soul level, is to have the progression of disclosures and new leaders with wisdom and spiritual integrity unfold in a more orderly fashion to avoid chaos and minimize governing disruption.

So you see, for the good of Earth, the election outcome HAD to be what it was. Only now can I divulge that high light beings both off and on planet played a major role in swaying the battle of the two Illuminati factions in the final days before the “victor” was declared.

CLIP - To read the entire unabridged message, please go at http://www.earthrainbownetwork.com/Archives2004/MatthewNov4-04

S: OK, sweetheart—I understand! My last question is regarding what you said in your last message about “the times of turmoil that will precede the Golden Era”—what exactly did you mean by that?

MATTHEW: Energy once set in motion must run its course, it cannot be abruptly cut off. I’ve said that recently, too. The momentum of the actions initiated by your government during the past four years will be fueled by the uninterrupted thoughts and feelings that got those actions underway. Yes, there will be—and have been— intervention by your space family when those actions would defy Earth’s free will choice for no more terrorism on the scale of 9/11, and they also will prevent the success of any attempts at nuclear detonations in space, which Creator decreed will not be allowed. But other than the non-allowance of those kinds of events, very harsh times will continue as the energy plays out its momentum.

And Mother, it doesn’t matter who occupies the Oval Office—this same situation would exist because both Illuminati factions have the same intention, to control your world. Their strategies differ, but the agenda is the same, and that agenda is to conquer other countries through fomenting civil wars, economic enslavement or outright invasion.

Lessening the duration and intensity of those objectives is in your hands, and this is the joyousness we feel as we see the people of Earth uniting more strongly than ever before to end wars and tyranny, to preserve and restore natural resources, and to help all who are suffering! This is why you chose this lifetime, why you chose spiritual enlightenment, courage and vision! And it’s why we urge you to stay the light course in the turmoil ahead that is playing out the last vestiges of the darkness.

Mother, I wish to end this with the same words of the collective voice:
Our beloved Earth family, we are with you!

Voting without auditing. (Are we insane?)

SEATTLE, WASHINGTON Nov 3 2004 -- Did the voting machines trump exit polls? There’s a way to find out.

Black Box Voting (.ORG) is conducting the largest Freedom of Information action in history. At 8:30 p.m. Election Night, Black Box Voting blanketed the U.S. with the first in a series of public records requests, to obtain internal computer logs and other documents from 3,000 individual counties and townships. Networks called the election before anyone bothered to perform even the most rudimentary audit.

America: We have permission to say No to unaudited voting. It is our right.

Among the first requests sent to counties (with all kinds of voting systems -- optical scan, touch-screen, and punch card) is a formal records request for internal audit logs, polling place results slips, modem transmission logs, and computer trouble slips.

An earlier FOIA is more sensitive, and has not been disclosed here. We will notify you as soon as we can go public with it.

Such a request filed in King County, Washington on Sept. 15, following the primary election six weeks ago, uncovered an internal audit log containing a three-hour deletion on election night; “trouble slips” revealing suspicious modem activity; and profound problems with security, including accidental disclosure of critically sensitive remote access information to poll workers, office personnel, and even, in a shocking blunder, to Black Box Voting activists.

Black Box Voting is a nonpartisan, nonprofit consumer protection group for elections. You may view the first volley of public records requests here: Freedom of Information requests here

Responses from public officials will be posted in the forum, is organized by state and county, so that any news organization or citizens group has access to the information. Black Box Voting will assist in analysis, by providing expertise in evaluating the records. Watch for the records online; Black Box Voting will be posting the results as they come in. And by the way, these are not free. The more donations we get, the more FOIAs we are empowered to do. Time's a'wasting.

We look forward to seeing you participate in this process. Join us in evaluating the previously undisclosed inside information about how our voting system works.

Play a part in reclaiming transparency. It’s the only way.

It's not over until the fat lady's vote is counted!!

Dennis Kucinich was re-elected to the House with 60 % of the vote. Barbara Lee was re-elected with 80 %. I just heard Obama was elected Senator by 75% of the population of Illinois defeating Al Keyes the RW nut. If that's not a message for Progressive Democrats what is? This election was not a Conservative message one.

Now... we have to fight to get all our votes counted unlike 2000 and 2002. The ACLU has filed suit demanding all the votes, especially those in "battle ground states" be counted.

Record number of Absentee ballots were cast because of the mis-trust of computer voting machines. People stood in line for hours voting "early" and by Absentee ballot. People took time off from work to go to "battle states" to fight for democracy. There was a record turn out to defeat Bush. More than 60% turned out this time. The reported number is wrong.

I voted by Absentee ballot for two reasons. One, I didn't trust the Optical Scanners to record my vote. All you get back is a number of which voter you were...like "319". This is a paper trail? Two, I helped Melissa Bean defeat Phil Crane on election day. How cool was that?

The ACLU has filed a suit to get them ALL counted especially in those tight states. Join them and call Senators to demand all votes be counted especially thousands of Absentee ones. We have people who can count. We can do this. It is too important not to. We should not allow the media to intimidate us either.

FOX has violated their promise during the 2000 Senate hearings to wait for all votes to be counted. They violated their FCC license. It was election fraud by the media. Again.

For now... let's just finish the vote count. I don't care if FOX and Kerry decided it's over. It's not with me. The Electoral College Certification should demand the ballots all be counted and fraud investigated (some Democratic Senators get up and demand it this time).

Democracy is at stake and we need your help. Call and demand our Democratic Senators finish the election process...not betray us like in 2000.

Signed: A "fat lady" who wants her vote counted.

Make no mistake about it, Bush didn't "win". The votes were hacked and stolen, except this time in plain sight.

America was founded on genocide, and must pay a karmic price for that. We are about to.

However, the answers lie in and with Spirit, not man. What the world will see in the next 2 years will be astounding. Never lose faith.

These are the days we've awaited and prayed for. They will be bumpy, but the outcome will be magnificent.

My newest book ready Tuesday "Reinventing the Wheel, The Universal Wheel: Tool of Global Unity" gives all the answers any sincere, spiritual person on Earth could need for solutions to all of life's misery, and living an exciting, fulfilling spiritual life, separate of this reality.

Much love,

Meria

P.S. I'll be happy to gift you a copy when ready, perhaps you can put it on your site or newsletter? It's my life's work. Believe me, the wheels are turning, and they are wheels of change.

The Rapture Index and the U.S. election

Embassy, November 3rd, 2004

By Bill Moyers

How do we explain the possibility that a close election ... could turn on several million good and decent citizens who believe in the Rapture Index? That's what I said – the Rapture Index. Google it and you will understand why the best-selling books in America today are the twelve volumes of the Left Behind series which have earned multi-millions of dollars for their co-authors who earlier this year completed a triumphant tour of the Bible Belt whose buckle holds in place George W. Bush's armour of the Lord. These true believers subscribe to a fantastical theology concocted in the l9th century by a couple of immigrant preachers who took disparate passages from the Bible and wove them into a narrative millions of people believe to be literally true.

According to this narrative, Jesus will return to earth only when certain conditions are met: when Israel has been established as a state; when Israel then occupies the rest of its "biblical lands;" when the third temple has been rebuilt on the site now occupied by the Dome of the Rock and Al-Aqsa mosques; and, then, when legions of the Antichrist attack Israel. This will trigger a final showdown in the valley of Armageddon during which all the Jews who have not converted will be burned. Then the Messiah returns to earth. The Rapture occurs once the big battle begins. "True believers" will be lifted out of their clothes and transported to heaven where, seated next to the right hand of God, they will watch their political and religious opponents suffer plagues of boils, sores, locusts and frogs during the several years of tribulation which follow.

I'm not making this up. We've reported on these people for our weekly broadcast on PBS, following some of them from Texas to the West Bank. They are sincere, serious, and polite as they tell you that they feel called to help bring the Rapture on as fulfillment of biblical prophecy. That's why they have declared solidarity with Israel and the Jewish settlements and backed up their support with money and volunteers. It's why they have staged confrontations at the old temple site in Jerusalem. It's why the invasion of Iraq for them was a warm-up act, predicted in the 9th chapter of the Book of Revelations where four angels "which are bound in the great river Euphrates" will be released "to slay the third part of men." As the British writer George Monbiot has pointed out, for these people the Middle East is not a foreign policy issue, it's a biblical scenario, a matter of personal belief. A war with Islam in the Middle East is not something to be feared but welcomed; if there's a conflagration there, they come out winners on the far side of tribulation, inside the pearly gates, in celestial splendor, supping on ambrosia to the accompaniment of harps plucked by angels.

One estimate puts these people at about l5 per cent of the electorate. Most are likely to vote Republican; they are part of the core of George W. Bush's base support. He knows who they are and what they want. When the President asked Ariel Sharon to pull his tanks out of Jenin in 2002, over one hundred thousand angry Christian fundamentalists barraged the White House with emails and Mr. Bush never mentioned the matter again.

Not coincidentally, the administration recently put itself solidly behind Ariel Sharon's expansions of settlements on the West Bank. In George Monbiot's analysis, the President stands to lose fewer votes by encouraging Israeli expansion into the West Bank than he stands to lose by restraining it. "He would be mad to listen to these people, but he would also be mad not to." No wonder Karl Rove walks around the West Wing whistling "Onward Christian Soldiers." He knows how many votes he is likely to get from these pious folk who believe that the Rapture Index now stands at 144 --- just one point below the critical threshold at which point the prophecy is fulfilled, the whole thing blows, the sky is filled with floating naked bodies, and the true believers wind up at the right hand of God. With no regret for those left behind. (See George Monbiot. The Guardian, April 20, 2004.)

I know, I know: You think I am bonkers... But this is just the point: Journalists who try to tell these stories, connect these dots, and examine these links are demeaned, disparaged, and dismissed. This is the very kind of story that illustrates the challenge journalists face in a world driven by ideologies that are stoutly maintained despite being contradicted by what is generally accepted as reality.

Defeat, Dissent And The Bush Machine

By Chris Floyd - The Moscow Times

11-3-4 Well, that's it. The great American electoral agony is over at last. Now George W. Bush -- the duly elected, finally legitimate president of the United States -- can get back to doing what he does best: killing people for corporate profit and personal aggrandizement.

Yes, it's a hard blow for the world. Yes, it's a deep shame for American democracy, poisoned by lies, fear, greed and hysteria. Yes, it means that tens of thousands of innocent people will now be killed -- by more war, more neglect, more ignorance, more repression, more brutality, more hatred, more fanaticism. Yes, it means that the planet will be gashed with more wounds, smeared with more filth, left to wither and die. Yes, it's a giant step backward for the human spirit, back to the muck of arbitrary rule by vicious elites and their ham-fisted goons, their well-wadded courtiers, their yapping sycophants. Yes, it means that somewhere out there, in the blood-dimmed haze of a dark age falling, Lucifer and bin Laden are lighting cigars and raising a glass to toast the victory of their good friend George.

These are the facts, and they can't be altered. But how to respond to this catastrophe? Shall we weep, moan, rend our garments, cover ourselves with sackcloth and ashes? Shall we sit upon the ground and tell sad stories of the death of republics? Shall we cower in the shadows and sing glamorous dirges for the Lost Cause, for vanished glories and broken dreams?

Or shall we come out fighting, unbowed, heads high, laughing fools to scorn, rejecting at every turn the moral authority of murderers and thieves to rule our lives, determine our reality, act in our name? Let's dispense with lamentation -- give not a single moment to that emotional indulgence -- and get right back to work, more determined than ever to bear down harder, dig deeper and excavate the radioactive nuggets of truth still glowing beneath the slag-heap of ruin that Bush and his terrorist partners have made of the world.

Let's fight, let's reject, let's resist -- without violence, the weapon of the stupid, the hormonal secretion of evolutionary backsliders in thrall to the chemical soup in their heads, dull primitives dressing up their ape-lust for power with scraps of religion, philosophy and cant. Let's fight these pathetic, malfunctioning wretches who lay their hands on our world and rape it like beasts in mindless rut. Fight them with the truths we find, exposing their crimes and deadly hypocrisies to the people they've suckered, perverted and betrayed.

This is not an insurmountable task, no matter how impervious the Bush Machine -- that monstrous conglomeration of judicial bagmen, Congressional rubber-stamps, hard-right media moguls, dopehead radio ranters, sex-crazed theocrats, neo-conservatives, neo-Confederates, war profiteers, think-tank bleaters, Wall Street sharks, oilmen, Moonies, gun nuts and woman-haters -- might appear at the moment. Let's look at the facts. Despite four years of the most relentless barrage of propaganda, deceit, misinformation and fearmongering ever hurled against a free society, more than 54 million people voted to reject Bush and all his works: his Hitlerite policy of aggressive war; his gulag system of torture and lawless detention; his savage assault on civil rights, the environment, working people and the poor; his systematic destruction of social programs; his transfer of sovereignty from individuals and communities to the iron grip of his corporate donors; his trashing of hard-won international agreements on nuclear weapons, conventional arms, war crimes, global warming, the rights of women and the protection of children; his unleashing of rabid religious zealots into the bowels of government to set policies on science, health, education, welfare, while sucking up billions in public money to fund their sectarian causes.

Such mass dissent -- even in "wartime," in the face of the Machine -- is surely cause for hope. Moreover, recent academic studies show that a large majority of Bush supporters actually disagree with him on everything from the Kyoto treaty to missile defense to international law to workers' rights -- but somehow believe that he shares their views. Most Bush-backers also still believe that Saddam Hussein and al Qaeda colluded in the September 11 attacks and that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction -- yet this same majority says that the conquest of Iraq would be illegitimate if there were no WMD and no 9/11 connection. Thus more than half of the Bush voters on Tuesday oppose his actual policies, including the criminal war in Iraq -- they just don't know it yet, because they're mired in carefully-cultivated delusion.

Of course, many Bush voters are willfully deluded, glad to be suckered and betrayed. They love the ludicrous puppet-show of his supposed greatness, his all-seeing wisdom, his mandate from God. They get teary-eyed at the thought of his honesty and goodness -- while he kills 100,000 innocent people in Iraq, as a new medical study shows, with a brutally stupid military aggression based on lies and fantasies, fomenting more terrorism with each new barbarity and gorging his cronies on blood money. This hard core will never respond to the truth.

But if we can enlighten even the smallest percentage of Bush's razor-thin majority, then support for his murderous folly and waste will quickly erode. One by one, the puppet-strings will snap, and America's headlong plunge into tyranny, bigotry and endless imperial war can perhaps -- perhaps -- be halted, even reversed.

It's worth the fight. Let's take it on. In the words of the old spiritual, let us be in no ways tired. The road back to sanity and justice starts now.

Election 2004: "Sour Grapes" or Voter Fraud

November 3, 2004

by Mike Whitney

If you believe that George Bush won last nights election "fair and square" then forget about reading this article. If you know however that tens of thousands of people who lined up for up to four hours at a time in Ohio and Florida to have their vote counted, were not standing there to endorse the aggression and suicidal policies of the current administration then read on. The unprecedented high turnout coupled with new registrations (that were overwhelmingly in favor of John Kerry) suggest that there was foul play at the voting booths. As a result, consumer investigator and activist Bev Harris (founder of Black Box Voting) "is conducting the largest Freedom of Information action in history. On election night, Black Box Voting blanketed the US with the first in a series of public records requests, to obtain internal computer logs and other documents from 3,000 individual counties and townships."

If the Bush people are so confident in their victory let them "put up or shut up."

The fact of the matter is (as every reasonable person who hasn't been hoodwinked by the pageantry of election night fraud realizes) that the election was stolen again in full view of the American public. The Republican owned voting machines prevailed over exit poll projections and the will of the American people.

If that's not the case, then let's investigate the computer logs. According to Lynn Landis' article "Could the AP rig the Election": "The Associated Press (AP) will be the sole source of raw vote totals for the major news broadcasters on Election Night.. They refused to confirm or deny that the AP will receive direct feed from voting machines and central vote tabulating computers across the country. But, circumstantial evidence suggests that is exactly what will happen.

And what can be downloaded can also be uploaded. Computer experts say that signals can travel both to and from computerized voting machines through wireless technology, modems, and even simple electricity." Landis just confirms what is already known about "sketchy" electronic voting and how it invites vote tampering. Her connection between election machinery, vote totals and the AP, however, has not previously been made. She goes on to explain that, "AP spokespeople would not give out information on who sits on their board, however AP leadership appears quite conservative."

Landis continues: "Burl Osborne, chairman of the AP board of directors, is also publisher emeritus of the conservative The Dallas Morning News, a newspaper that endorsed George W. Bush in the last election. Kathleen Carroll, senior vice president and executive editor of AP, was a reporter at The Dallas Morning News before joining AP. Carroll is also on the Associated Press Managing Editors (APME)'s 7-member executive committee. The APME "works in partnership with AP to improve the wire service's performance," according to their website. APME vice president, Deanna Sands, is managing editor of the ultra conservative Omaha World Herald newspaper, whose parent company owns the largest voting machine company in the nation, Election Systems and Software (ES&S)."

It's a cozy relationship considering that ES&S voting machines count 50% of all the votes in the country. The second largest company, Diebold, is also tied to the Republican Party and promised (in a comment by Wally Diebold that got widespread attention on the internet) to "deliver the vote" in Ohio to President Bush.

Both Wally and ES&S apparently succeeded admirably in their task of undermining the election.

Many readers are probably wondering what happened to the "Help America Vote Act" that was passed by Congress to avoid the problems of Florida 2000? As Landis reports in an earlier article: "What Congress really did was to throw $2.65 billion at the states, so that they could lavish it on a handful of private companies that are controlled by ultra-conservative Republicans, foreigners and felons." (Diebold, ES&S and Sequoia were among the big winners)

None of the facts related to the presidential election add up. Voter registration went up from 105 million to 120 million. In Ohio alone it went up a whopping 17%. Whenever registration has surged like this in the past, it has always favored the challenger and precipitated a change in government.

Not so, this time, and Republican pollsters are eager to convince us that the reason for this is a renewed interest among the American public for "moral values". Is that it or are the results simply an indication of massive (but well calculated) voter fraud?

The exit polling was equally skewed, showing a clear victory for Kerry. Exit polling has traditionally been a reliable way of determining the outcome of elections. Not so in Bush-world, where vote totals are invariably higher for Bush in the contentious areas that ultimately decide the election. Give strategist Karl Rove his due; he knew what had to be done and did it. The rest, of course, has been papered over by the pollsters, pimps and pundits in American press corps.

Do we need to remind ourselves that representative government can only be established by the power of the vote? It is the electoral process that confers legitimacy on government. Without a popular mandate state power can only be vindicated through force of arms.

Last night American democracy was skillfully subverted and replaced with a mutant form of corporatism that operates independent of the will of the people. It's impossible to know what the long term affects of this will be, but it is a development that should greatly concern us all.

Show opens with "Black Box Voting" by The Compassionate Conservatives http://oregonwaterfalls.com/

Mark Crispin Miller, author of "The Bush Dyslexicon" and "Cruel and Unusual, Bush/Cheney's New World Order" joins me for a great discussion on the new stolen election.

Mark also has done a great show now available on DVD "A Patriot Act" available at http://www.patriotnation.us

I highly recommend it. What is Christian Reconstructionism? The Civil War in America, the South vs. the North; Religious fascism interwoven in OUR government offices; the immediate conceding by Kerry, another stolen election; what will it take for America to wake up?; Why did the "left" leave?; This govt is pauperizing most Americans in favor of the rich; To Christo-fascists wealth is a sign you're chosen by God (leave everything you own behind to follow me - Jesus); Mark contends this administration is pathological and radicals. Take a look at the election of 1800 for a comparison; "the price of freedom is eternal vigilance" - Jefferson; Gay marriage not new to history; scariest part is the Christian fascists in our military like Boykin. Fabulous interview with a fabulous patriot. Send photos to mark.miller@nyu.edu as requested on show. Direct action is the answer, never forget that. Life is a participatory sport.

Subject: Diebold voting machine fraud

It all adds up, and we knew it all months ago or should have.

1. Any experienced programmer could use a common flat file database to accept entries into columns and rows, like a paper ballot, add up those rows, and record the totals for each column, and print out hardcopy for each voter and for election officials.

2. This simple database could be open source for anyone to examine for its accuracy and reliability, and lack of back doors for funny stuff. And the feds could require it to be uniform and mandatory for all states, and allow anyone to examine the code.

3. But the touch screen corporations all had to create secret, proprietary code that's protected by law so no one could ever see whether it would alter individual votes internally or alter totals recorded, or see if it was programmed to test accurate for election officials beforehand and only alter the numbers on Election Day.

4. Those touch screen machines won't print hardcopy records of votes, even where states require recounts in certain situations and need hardcopy ballot records.

5. The three major touch screen machine corporations are all owned by diehard Republicans.

6. The Republican controlled Congress and White House legislated the new voting law that subsidized states to purchase these Republican owned touch screen machines.

Do we get the picture now?

Kerry Won - by Greg Palast

November 04, 2004

Bush won Ohio by 136,483 votes. Typically in the United States, about 3 percent of votes cast are voided—known as “spoilage” in election jargon—because the ballots cast are inconclusive. Palast’s investigation suggests that if Ohio’s discarded ballots were counted, Kerry would have won the state. Today,  the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports (http://www.cleveland.com/election/plaindealer/index.ssf?/base/news/109956457262001.xml) there are a total of 247,672 votes not counted in Ohio, if you add the 92,672 discarded votes plus the 155,000 provisional ballots.

Greg Palast, contributing editor to Harper's magazine, investigated the manipulation of the vote for BBC Television's Newsnight. The documentary, "Bush Family Fortunes," based on his New York Times bestseller, The Best Democracy Money Can Buy, has been released this month on DVD (http://www.gregpalast.com/bff-dvd.htm).

Kerry won. Here's the facts.

I know you don't want to hear it. You can't face one more hung chad. But I don't have a choice. As a journalist examining that messy sausage called American democracy, it's my job to tell you who got the most votes in the deciding states. Tuesday, in Ohio and New Mexico, it was John Kerry.

Most voters in Ohio thought they were voting for Kerry. CNN's exit poll showed Kerry beating Bush among Ohio women by 53 percent to 47 percent. Kerry also defeated Bush among Ohio's male voters 51 percent to 49 percent. Unless a third gender voted in Ohio, Kerry took the state.

So what's going on here? Answer: the exit polls are accurate. Pollsters ask, "Who did you vote for?" Unfortunately, they don't ask the crucial, question, "Was your vote counted?" The voters don't know.

Here's why. Although the exit polls show that most voters in Ohio punched cards for Kerry-Edwards, thousands of these votes were simply not recorded. This was predictable and it was predicted. [ See "An Election Spoiled Rotten," November 1 at http://www.tompaine.com/articles/an_election_spoiled_rotten.php ]

Once again, at the heart of the Ohio uncounted vote game are, I'm sorry to report, hanging chads and pregnant chads, plus some other ballot tricks old and new.

The election in Ohio was not decided by the voters but by something called "spoilage." Typically in the United States, about 3 percent of the vote is voided, just thrown away, not recorded. When the bobble-head boobs on the tube tell you Ohio or any state was won by 51 percent to 49 percent, don't you believe it ... it has never happened in the United States, because the total never reaches a neat 100 percent. The television totals simply subtract out the spoiled vote.

And not all vote spoil equally. Most of those votes, say every official report, come from African American and minority precincts. (To learn more, go at http://www.civilrightsproject.harvard.edu/research/electoral_reform/residual_ballot.php)

We saw this in Florida in 2000. Exit polls showed Gore with a plurality of at least 50,000, but it didn't match the official count. That's because the official, Secretary of State Katherine Harris, excluded 179,855 spoiled votes. In Florida, as in Ohio, most of these votes lost were cast on punch cards where the hole wasn't punched through completely—leaving a 'hanging chad,'—or was punched extra times. Whose cards were discarded? Expert statisticians investigating spoilage for the government calculated that 54 percent of the ballots thrown in the dumpster were cast by black folks. (To read the report from the U.S. Civil Rights Commission, go at http://www.usccr.gov/pubs/vote2004/elect04.pdf)

And here's the key: Florida is terribly typical. The majority of ballots thrown out (there will be nearly 2 million tossed out from Tuesday's election) will have been cast by African American and other minority citizens.

So here we go again. Or, here we don't go again. Because unlike last time, Democrats aren't even asking Ohio to count these cards with the not-quite-punched holes (called "undervotes" in the voting biz).

Ohio is one of the last states in America to still use the vote-spoiling punch-card machines. And the Secretary of State of Ohio, J. Kenneth Blackwell, wrote before the election, “the possibility of a close election with punch cards as the state’s primary voting device invites a Florida-like calamity.” (http://www.civilrightsproject.harvard.edu/research/electoral_reform/residual_ballot.php)

But this week, Blackwell, a rabidly partisan Republican, has warmed up to the result of sticking with machines that have a habit of eating Democratic votes. When asked if he feared being this year's Katherine Harris, Blackwell noted that Ms. Fix-it's efforts landed her a seat in Congress.

Exactly how many votes were lost to spoilage this time? Blackwell's office, notably, won't say, though the law requires it be reported. Hmm. But we know that last time, the total of Ohio votes discarded reached a democracy-damaging 1.96 percent. The machines produced their typical loss—that's 110,000 votes—overwhelmingly Democratic.

The Impact Of Challenges

First and foremost, Kerry was had by chads. But the Democrat wasn't punched out by punch cards alone. There were also the 'challenges.' That's a polite word for the Republican Party of Ohio's use of an old Ku Klux Klan technique: the attempt to block thousands of voters of color at the polls. In Ohio, Wisconsin and Florida, the GOP laid plans for poll workers to ambush citizens under arcane laws—almost never used—allowing party-designated poll watchers to finger individual voters and demand they be denied a ballot. The Ohio courts were horrified and federal law prohibits targeting of voters where race is a factor in the challenge. But our Supreme Court was prepared to let Republicans stand in the voting booth door.

In the end, the challenges were not overwhelming, but they were there. Many apparently resulted in voters getting these funky "provisional" ballots—a kind of voting placebo—which may or may not be counted. Blackwell estimates there were 175,000; Democrats say 250,000. Pick your number. But as challenges were aimed at minorities, no one doubts these are, again, overwhelmingly Democratic. Count them up, add in the spoiled punch cards (easy to tally with the human eye in a recount), and the totals begin to match the exit polls; and, golly, you've got yourself a new president. Remember, Bush won by 136,483 votes in Ohio.

Enchanted State's Enchanted Vote

Now, on to New Mexico, where a Kerry plurality—if all votes are counted—is more obvious still. Before the election, in TomPaine.com, I wrote, "John Kerry is down by several thousand votes in New Mexico, though not one ballot has yet been counted."

How did that happen? It's the spoilage, stupid; and the provisional ballots.

CNN said George Bush took New Mexico by 11,620 votes. Again, the network total added up to that miraculous, and non-existent, '100 percent' of ballots cast.

New Mexico reported in the last race a spoilage rate of 2.68 percent, votes lost almost entirely in Hispanic, Native American and poor precincts—Democratic turf. From Tuesday's vote, assuming the same ballot-loss rate, we can expect to see 18,000 ballots in the spoilage bin.

Spoilage has a very Democratic look in New Mexico. Hispanic voters in the Enchanted State, who voted more than two to one for Kerry, are five times as likely to have their vote spoil as a white voter. Counting these uncounted votes would easily overtake the Bush 'plurality.'

Already, the election-bending effects of spoilage are popping up in the election stats, exactly where we'd expect them: in heavily Hispanic areas controlled by Republican elections officials. Chaves County, in the "Little Texas" area of New Mexico, has a 44 percent Hispanic population, plus African Americans and Native Americans, yet George Bush "won" there 68 percent to 31 percent.

I spoke with Chaves' Republican county clerk before the election, and he told me that this huge spoilage rate among Hispanics simply indicated that such people simply can't make up their minds on the choice of candidate for president. Oddly, these brown people drive across the desert to register their indecision in a voting booth.

Now, let's add in the effect on the New Mexico tally of provisional ballots.

"They were handing them out like candy," Albuquerque journalist Renee Blake reported of provisional ballots. About 20,000 were given out. Who got them?

Santiago Juarez who ran the "Faithful Citizenship" program for the Catholic Archdiocese in New Mexico, told me that "his" voters, poor Hispanics, whom he identified as solid Kerry supporters, were handed the iffy provisional ballots. Hispanics were given provisional ballots, rather than the countable kind "almost religiously," he said, at polling stations when there was the least question about a voter's identification. Some voters, Santiago said, were simply turned away.

Your Kerry Victory Party

So we can call Ohio and New Mexico for John Kerry—if we count all the votes.

But that won't happen. Despite the Democratic Party's pledge, the leadership this time gave in to racial disenfranchisement once again. Why? No doubt, the Democrats know darn well that counting all the spoiled and provisional ballots will require the cooperation of Ohio's Secretary of State, Blackwell. He will ultimately decide which spoiled and provisional ballots get tallied. Blackwell, hankering to step into Kate Harris' political pumps, is unlikely to permit anything close to a full count. Also, Democratic leadership knows darn well the media would punish the party for demanding a full count.

What now? Kerry won, so hold your victory party. But make sure the shades are down: it may be become illegal to demand a full vote count under PATRIOT Act III.

I used to write a column for the Guardian papers in London. Several friends have asked me if I will again leave the country. In light of the failure—a second time—to count all the votes, that won't be necessary. My country has left me.

Mark Crispin Miller: "First of all, this election was definitely rigged"

Mark Crispin Miller is a media critic, professor of communications at New York University, and author, most recently, of "Cruel and Unusual: Bush/Cheney's New World Order."

First of all, this election was definitely rigged. I have no doubt about it. It's a statistical impossibility that Bush got 8 million more votes than he got last time. In 2000, he got 15 million votes from right-wing Christians, and there are approximately 19 million of them in the country. They were eager to get the other 4 million. That was pretty much Karl Rove's strategy to get Bush elected.

But given Bush's low popularity ratings and the enormous number of new voters -- who skewed Democratic -- there is no way in the world that Bush got 8 million more votes this time. I think it had a lot to do with the electronic voting machines. Those machines are completely untrustworthy, and that's why the Republicans use them. Then there's the fact that the immediate claim of Ohio was not contested by the news media -- when Andrew Card came out and claimed the state, not only were the votes in Ohio not counted, they weren't even all cast. I would have to hear a much stronger argument for the authenticity, or I should say the veracity, of this popular vote for Bush before I'm willing to believe it. If someone can prove to me that it happened, that Bush somehow pulled 8 million magic votes out of a hat, OK, I'll accept it. I'm an independent, not a Democrat, and I'm not living in denial.

And that's not even talking about Florida, which is about as Democratic a state as Guatemala used to be. The news media is obliged to make the Republicans account for all these votes, and account for the way they were counted. Simply to embrace this result as definitive is irrational. But there is every reason to question it ... I find it beyond belief that the press in this formerly democratic country would not have made the integrity of the electoral system a front page, top-of-the-line story for the last three years. I worked and worked and worked to get that story into the media, and no one touched it until your guy did.

I actually got invited to a Kerry fundraiser so I could talk to him about it. I raised the issue directly with him and with Teresa. Teresa was really indignant and really concerned, but Kerry just looked down at me -- he's about 9 feet tall -- and I could tell it just didn't register. It set off all his conspiracy-theory alarms and he just wasn't listening.

NEW YORK, Nov. 3 /BSNewswire/ -- Diebold, ChoicePoint and Sproul - in a new partnership between government and business involving unprecedented interagency cooperation between the RNC/PNAC, the Patent Office, the Justice Department and the Department of Homeland Security - and funded in part by venture capital from Microsoft's capital-markets division - have announced plans to form a joint venture to leverage core software patents and other intellectual property for the purpose of maintaining America's strategic edge at providing "the best democracy money can buy."

Diebold's flagship product - their distributed "black box" implementation of what assembly-language programmers used to refer to as the "INCR" operator, better known to the rest of us as "plus one" or "addition" - will to be the first of several strategic arithmetic operators to be included in the joint venture's portfolio of vital information-technology (IT) trade secrets, which will soon include implementions of other core mathematical functions, such as subtotal, percent, and greater-than-or-equal-to.

Meanwhile, ChoicePoint's proprietary software-based disenfranchisement algorithms, whose Florida 2000 rollout transparently scrubbed tens of thousands of undesirable second-class citizens from the voter rolls, are expected to provide the perfect "synergy" with more prosaic, paper-oriented Jim Crow technologies such as Sproul's circular-file-based voter-deregistration methodologies, and the RNAC's innovative use of mail fraud and racketeering successfully deployed against the 2004 voter-registration drives in Ohio and other states.

Gone is the primitive, labor-intensive "addition" operator many Americans recall struggling with in elementary school and the messy, error-prone process of counting dangling "chads" in antiquated punch-card vote-tabulation systems: With Diebold's state-of-the-art paperless touchscreen technology - complemented on the back-end by their modem-based wide-area-network protocols for addition, subtotaling, and numerical comparison - all audiences ranging from local county poll workers to vendor personnel to Secretaries of State can quickly get up to speed and enjoy an unprecedented level of ease and quality control for delivering precisely targeted electoral results.

Unlike Diebold's bank ATMs, which many users have criticized for being "stodgy" or "lacking upside" due to their overly rigid reliance on pre-Enron accounting standards such as double-entry bookkeeping and paper trails, Diebold's voting systems division has wisely gone with a more "virtual, interactive, open-systems" computing philosophy featuring dynamically reconfigurable memory cards, freely published polling-station telephone numbers, short, easy-to-remember passwords and standard dialup modems sending unencrypted data over common carriers for greater transparency and efficiency. Avoiding the "heavy iron," high overhead and inherent inflexibility of outmoded client-server systems favored by the global financial networks and airline-reservation systems, Diebold has decided to go with agile, "off-the-shelf" desktop components such as Windows and Access which can be easily customized by anyone willing to master Microsoft's popular VBA programming language - increasing interactivity and reducing the learning curve for key players in all phases of the electoral process, as well as enhancing flexibility with exciting new features such as anonymous remote access and unlogged updates.

"People might be quite surprised if they knew how big a chunk of our revenue stream is due to our exclusive proprietary implementation of the 'plus' operator, which has been an essential component of our strategy to deliver Florida and now Ohio as promised to our partners in government in the last two Presidential elections," Diebold's president stated at a recent press conference. "Diebold's cutting-edge implementation of the '+' operator is the result of years of painstaking research and development by the kind of highly-paid Harvard MBAs who have been keeping America's GDP strong with innovative product rollouts such as New Coke and Windows XP Service Pack 2. Diebold's AoIP - Addition over Internet Protocol technology - has been proven to demonstrate the kind of 99.999% reliability required by America's Fortune 500 and White House CEOs for the most demanding desktop applications. America's national security and technological prowess are predicated on a robust defense of our vital intellectual property rights. We can't allow key state secrets - such as our formulas for computing sums and percentages - to fall into the wrong hands," he added.

To enhance the user acceptance of Diebold's addition algorithms among the so-called "reality-based" community, new legislation dubbed the "Dipper Chip" bill is being drafted in Congress which will now formally require all "systems of mass summation" such as opinion surveys and exit polls to include a "back door" allowing RNC/PNAC officials sneak-and-peek-and-delete access for the purpose of "dipping in" to continuously monitor and update poll results so as to guarantee backward compatibility between Diebold-computed vote tallies, "news" reported in the media, and individually perceived "reality."

Arafat may have been poisoned

Dr. Christian Estripeau of Percy Hospital in Paris said today that Yasser Arafat, who is being treated at the hospital, is showing symptoms of arsenic poisoning. Dr. Estripeau added that more tests are needed to make a definite diagnosis.

Arsenic poisoning is usually determined by a hair analysis. If arsenic is found in the hair follicles it will stay there for years. If it is in the hair follicles it is usually in the body as well. Arsenic is also deposited in the fingernails and skin.

Symptoms of arsenic poisoning begin with headaches, confusion and drowsiness. As the poisoning develops, convulsions and changes in fingernail pigmentation may occur. When the poisoning becomes acute, symptoms may include diarrhea, vomiting, blood in the urine, cramping muscles, hair loss, stomach pain, and more convulsions. The organs of the body that are usually affected by arsenic poisoning are the lungs, skin, kidneys, and liver. The final result of arsenic poisoning is coma and then death.

An Arafat principal advisor in Paris said today that the Palestinian leader is now in "critical condition" and slipping into coma, a final outcome of arsenic poisoning right before death. Arsenic poisoning can be reversed if diagnosed properly and treated diligently.

Other French doctors carrying out tests on the 75-year-old leader since he was airlifted to the military hospital in Paris last Friday say they still do not know what is wrong with him, despite ruling out leukaemia. Arafat's immune system appeared quite weak as his health, which had at first stabilised after he arrived at the hospital, suddenly deteriorated on Wednesday, they said.

Yasser Arafat has for 40 years been the symbol of the Palestinian struggle against the Zionist occupation of Palestine. The extraordinary courageous leader was admitted to the Percy military hospital in the Paris suburb of Clamart on Friday after being dramatically evacuated from the West Bank where he was being held a virtual prisoner by the sinister Ariel Sharon, head of the vile Zionist Likud Party of Israel.

Yasser Arafat has for many years been the target for assassination by Sharon. Many Middle East observers and analysts believe that Arafat was poisoned by Sharon operatives while the Palestinian leader was held prisoner in Ramallah.

ACTION SOON AGAINST THE MURDEROUS TORTURE SCHOOL OF AMERICA

Forwarded by "Meria Heller"

Subject: March against war, violence and the continued training of assassins at Fort Benning

A time of hope, a moment of growth and an opportunity to vote with your feet

November 3, 2004

Dear Friends,

Here at SOA Watch, in spite of grim election news, we continue to ride high on several historic victories. As you know, SOA Watch won an important ruling in the 11th circuit court that found the metal detectors that Columbus City officials used to illegally search demonstrators during the annual November Vigil over the last two years to be unconstitutional. The 11th circuit ruling reaffirms the First and Fourth Amendments and has the potential to be used to overturn aspects of the Patriot Act.

And again, in the past days we found that we have another victory to celebrate. Last year at Fort Benning, as we gathered to protest the SOA/WHINSEC, military police blared music at us in an attempt to disrupt our nonviolent, permitted gathering. Because of the pressure that you put on the base challenging their use of noise to try and silence dissent and the threat of lawsuits against the base by the SOA Watch Legal Collective, Fort Benning was forced to agree that they would not interfere with our gathering at their main entrance in any way this November.

In the face of this presidential election, we at SOA Watch believe the time is ripe to not only continue to build our growing movement to challenge the SOA/ WHINSEC, but also for us to broaden our movement to confront growing US militarism in Latin America. The SOA is not an aberration of US foreign policy but rather a clear illustration of that policy. Our movement continues to grow to challenge this school and all US foreign policy that attacks the poor and those who are working for human rights.

This is an important moment. Some people were turned away at the ballots yesterday, but we will not be turned away from our struggle for justice! Join us at the gates of Fort Benning this November 19th through the 21st to confront the SOA/ WHINSEC and US militarism in Latin America. Your vote counts and your presence counts as we build a movement to create the world we know is possible, the world that we know is coming.

In Cucuta, Colombia this November tens of thousands of people will march against war and violence in a town where there were two thousand political assassinations over the past year. This year in solidarity, we hope you will join us at the gates of Fort Benning to march against war, violence and the continued training of assassins at Fort Benning.

Please join us this November 19th through the 21st to rally against war and terror and to promote the world where all can live in human dignity. Visit http://www.SOAW.org or call 202-234-3440 for more information about this year's gathering.

See you in Columbus,

Jacqueline Baker, Roy Bourgeois, Eric LeCompte, Sarah Mertz, Christy Pardew, Josh Raisler Cohn and Kristine Werthwein
