The Days of Infamy Series #4: The Unrepentant, Unashamed War Criminals

Hello everyone

Here is what got my attention these past several days. It is a LOT I must admit, but it is just the very tip of the iceberg of all there is to report about. Yet all this terribly disheartening information can hardly be ignored as you'll see.

Persevering in the face of mounting challenges worldwide... Not to mention the material in the Meditation Focus I'm also preparing and will send out later tonight.

"As democracy is perfected, the office of president represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron."

"The Bush Jr. administration's foreign policy constitutes ongoing criminal activity under well-recognized principles of both international law and US domestic law, in particular the Nuremberg Charter, the Nuremberg Judgment, and the Nuremberg Principles. "Americans, even so-called Progressives it seems, appear to be fixated in an eternal adolescence that wants to repair adversity as quickly as possible without living it, or God forbid, learning from it. One facet of maturity is the awareness that the challenges of human existence are rarely simplistic, usually fraught with complexity, and typically last much longer than we ever dreamed we could endure them. As a result, we inwardly (or outwardly) roll our eyes at the adolescents in our lives who insist on taking the path of least resistance as quickly as possible. Yet, like adolescents, we refuse to face the reality that clean, fair, democratic elections no longer exist in our country, if they ever did. Like puerile MTV viewers, we demand that the right politician, the right book, the right motivational speaker, the right spiritual teacher, the right journalist tell us what to do and make it "all better" so that we can avoid suffering. We lament that the uninformed populace around us doesn't want to hear any bad news, but the real truth is, neither do we. (...) The days of simply applying bandaids to America's deplorably corrupt and unjust political, economic, and social institutions are over. It appears that nothing less than total transformation is being demanded of us. My wish for every American in 2005 is that we recover from our addiction to happiness—our refusal to hear, ponder, and struggle with "bad news", and with informed, illumined minds and hearts, allow the darkness to be our teacher. That very "un-American" path may be our only hope for creating a new world."

No More Victims
Read the poignant story of young Iraqi girl Israa Abdul Amir (...) severely injured in a missile attack conducted by the US military on the morning of January 25, 1999. She had just finished a test at the Al Najed primary school and was walking home from school when the missile struck. A large piece of shrapnel severed her right arm below the shoulder and she suffered chest and abdominal wounds. A metal fragment remains lodged in her skull, a souvenir of the American Empire; doctors could not remove it for fear of killing her. Israa was nine years old. CLIP - Recommended by "Frank Dorrel">

Palestinian female prisoners in Telmond start hunger strike to protest against inhumane treatment (December 2, 2004) ABSOLUTELY APPALLING!
(...) To protest against the manner in which the prison administration deals with female Palestinian prisoners and in particular against the beating of their spokeswoman and her subsequent isolation, the remaining Palestinian female detainees began screaming and shouting. The guards responded by bringing in other troops, armed with batons, water hoses and tear gas, who began to beat the women and spray them with water and gas. As a result of the brutal attack, one prisoner, Sana Amer, suffered probable fractures to an arm and a leg, while two other Palestinian prisoners, Suad Ghazal and Asma' Hussain both sustained probable arm fractures. Many other prisoners were also injured by the guards. The prison administration did not provide medical or first aid treatment to the injured detainees. Instead, they placed a further 13 prisoners in the punishment cells. There were further reprisals awaiting those who returned to their normal cells. The administration confiscated all electrical appliances in the rooms, and the personal supplies of food and cigarettes which the women had bought with their own money from the canteena. In a deliberate effort to make the miserable living conditions even worse, guards sprayed cold water all over the prisoners' belongings, soaking their mattresses and clothes. Given that it is winter, the women were not able to dry the bedding, so were forced to sleep in cold damp beds. The prison administration cut the prisoners' electricity and water supplies, and the smell of the tear gas continues to cling to the walls of the cells. The person who has suffered the most is Nor, the 1-year old son of Manal Ghanem. He was born in prison on 10 October 2003 and has never been outside the Telmond compound. After being sprayed by water and gas, Nor developed a serious cold. He was not provided with any medication.  CLIP

(...) The use of foreign nationals as election machine technicians on Election Day has also been confirmed. Sources with details of the vote rigging stated that some foreign nationals were involved in the reprogramming of Diebold and other machines in the four key states of Florida, Ohio, Texas, and California. The technicians successfully padded votes in Ohio to ensure that state's 20 electoral votes went to the Bush column. In populous counties in Florida, Texas, and California, the vote padding ensured that Bush's nationwide popular vote margin was well in excess of 3 million votes, giving him 51 percent of the national vote over John Kerry. One unsuccessful Democratic candidate in California voiced concerns about whether the alleged vote padding in his state affected his own vote count.Vote padding for Bush's popular vote may have also been used in Maryland. (...) Sources familiar with the Votergate scandal have stated that foreign nationals from Mexico, Brazil, and Russia were used to "fix" selected machines in critical counties and precincts in Florida, Ohio, Texas, and California. Moreover, some of these individuals have been associated with organized crime activity, including computer hacking, in the United States and abroad. Those familiar with the use of Diebold machines to commit voter fraud have revealed that the hardware and software used in Diebold machines used in casinos and polling places is essentially the same, including the back door used to dial in over telephone lines to change payoff odds in gambling machines. The same mechanism was used to change votes, the sources contend. Conyers to Hold Hearings on Ohio Vote Fraud

Bush's Ohio Win Was Closer Than Thought (Dec 3)
Toledo, Ohio - President Bush's victory over John Kerry in Ohio was closer than the unofficial election night totals showed, but the change is not enough to trigger an automatic recount, according to county-by-county results provided to The Associated Press on Friday. Bush's margin of victory in the state that put him over the top in his re-election bid will be about 119,000 votes, which is smaller than the unofficial margin of 136,000, the county election board figures showed. That means Kerry drew closer by about 17,000 votes. (...) Secretary of State Kenneth Blackwell will certify the results Monday. The president's margin of victory was about 2 percent, not close enough to require an automatic recount. That happens only when the difference is 0.25 percent or less. CLIP

Faced with mounting evidence of massive voting fraud, we are asking each and every one of you to help restore the integrity of the election process in the United States. One of the biggest problems we have at the moment is that evidence of fraud is coming out regularly, but the corporate media is refusing to cover these stories.

Please go to , , , or
Select an article from these websites and then forward this article to the addresses below (you can cut and paste this list into an e-mail address line). Most of these are the addresses of top management of major newspapers across the country (in a few cases we couldn't find the email of top management and the address is one we could find). Ask the editor or manager to cover the story of election fraud in depth NOW, while something can still be done about it .

PLEASE TAKE ACTION NOW. We suggest you start every day with sending one article to these people (this takes less than 5 minutes), so that their email boxes will be full with citizens' demands that they cover these issues. Please forward this email to everyone you know and to all of your lists.

If we let dishonest people get away with election fraud, things will only get worse next time.,,,,, jo',,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Please write a letter to accompany your article. Below is a sample letter. Be polite, as rudeness doesn't help, but be passionate at the same time. Write your own letter expressing your concerns.

I am writing to you as one of the top management in a key newspaper in the United States to ask you to cover the fraud that was perpetrated in the 2004 election in the United States. Evidence of the fraud can be found on many web sites, including , , or (which has over 200 articles on this topic). If we are to remain a democracy, you must cover this fraud. Below is one of the many articles that I read and which causes me great concern. I don't understand why the media remains silent, while the public is kept in the dark about these voting irregularities. Please take the lead and let the public know the truth.

Thank your for acting on this as often as you can.

"Quantum physics is describing what I call the physics of the dreamlike nature of reality. Like a mass shared dream, we are all literally moment by moment calling forth and collaboratively "dreaming up" this very universe into materialization. And dreams, by their very nature don't exist in a "flat-land" where they are fixed in meaning, but are extremely multi-dimensional. When we contemplate the past in this very moment, it has the same ontological status of and no more reality than a dream we had last night. Just like this present moment, when we contemplate it tomorrow, will in that present moment have no more reality than a figment of our imagination. What actually did happen on November 2? Did George Bush win the election? Or did he steal it? And if he stole it, is this criminal act something we can do nothing about? If this universe is like quantum physics describes, then we are only not able to do anything about it because of our own self-imposed limitations and a failure of our imagination in this very moment. If even some of the overwhelming evidence that Bush stole the election is true, can we step into a universe in this very moment in which we have the power to do something about it? Or is the past written in stone? Quantum physics points out that this is a participatory universe in which the power to change reality is literally in our hands at every moment and that the choice is truly ours. Let us not get fooled into giving away our power by the source of our real power, namely, the reality-creating function of our own sacred imagination. "

At Least 200,000 Fled Falluja (02 December 2004)
Baghdad - More than 200,000 people who fled Falluja ahead of the U.S. offensive have yet to return and many are in desperate need of aid, with temperatures in Iraq heading towards freezing, a new U.N. emergency report says. Figures compiled by the International Organization for Migration show that 210,600 people, or more than 35,000 families, took refuge in towns and villages around Falluja in the build up to the U.S. assault, launched on November 8. Nearly all those people remain outside the city, where the population was estimated at 250,000-300,000 before the attack. U.S. forces are maintaining a cordon around Falluja as sporadic fighting continues and are preventing refugees from returning, saying they want to stagger the return so that basic facilities can be restored before people go home. Most areas of the city remain without power, water, sewage and other basic services and it is expected to take much longer than previously thought to start reconstruction as hundreds of buildings are completely destroyed. "The return to Falluja may take a matter of months rather than days, as was previously suggested by multi-national forces," the document entitled "Emergency Working Group - Falluja Crisis" and distributed by the United Nations said. The report, compiled by various aid agencies and released this week, says access to the camps for internally-displaced people is sporadic due to insecurity and military operations. (...) Since October, when families first began fleeing Falluja, temperatures in central Iraq have fallen from around 85 degrees Fahrenheit (30 degrees Celsius) to 35 Fahrenheit (2 degrees Celsius) and sometimes colder overnight. Many families fled with the clothes they were wearing and a few personal items, unprepared for the change in weather. CLIP

Why? So that we do not see them. Coffins of dead U.S. soldiers cannot be photographed returning home. Why? So that we do not see them. Is this the kind of support we want to give to our soldiers? Hiding them from the public eye? Relegating them to the streets to fend for themselves? Are we trying to hide something? Is it easier to support the mythical, invisible image of a brave soldier fighting for "glory" and "freedom" than it is to support the very real limbless, psychologically damaged or lifeless person returning from Iraq? What's Up at the CIA? Porter Goss and the New Night of the Long Knives (Nov 22)
Here is an update on what's going on at the Agency. The CIA is in a state of turmoil. Porter Goss, the new CIA director, has issued a new directive, which is very simple: Support the Bush-Cheney Regime. Or else. There will be no more trying to undermine the Regime by telling the truth on such subjects as weapons of mass destruction, missing billions from the defense budget, what it's actually going to cost for Iraq and Afghanistan, or how long we‚re actually going to be there. What he has effectively done is stopped all dissemination of truth from the Agency. And this is what it all means. There will be no more leaks to the media. He's not even allowing any more policy updates to various committees on the Hill without his personal approval, unless he reads them first. To use an old Langley expression, the TC, or Truth Content, must now be absolute zero. Even Bill Casey didn't have an absolute zero truth content dissemination policy out of the Agency. But that is what he has now done. That is the new Agency policy for public representations as well as policy statement and operations updates to the relevant committees on the Hill. And from now on they take all political marching orders from Karl Rove. He's the guy that's giving the marching orders from the White House. CLIP

Nobel Laureate Saramago Warns of Danger After Bush Reelection (November 27, 2004)
CARACAS - U.S. politics over the next four years will be rooted in patriotism and religion, an 'explosive combination' that will require Latin Americans to 'arm themselves with strength, courage and bravery,' according to Portuguese writer José Samamago, winner of the 1998 Nobel Prize for Literature. Saramago spoke to writers and journalists this week in Caracas, and used the occasion to express his views on what a second term under U.S. President George W. Bush will mean for the region. 'Things will undoubtedly be very bad for Latin America,' the writer predicted. 'You only have to consider the ambitions and the doctrines of the empire, which regards this region as its backyard,' he said. At an earlier speaking engagement in Bogotá, Colombia, Saramago called Bush 'the biggest liar on the planet.' He added that if the U.S. president ever decides to focus on the region, Latin America should tremble with fear. 'I could say the same about Africa, but I don't want to create an international panic,' he joked. CLIP

You Want A Moral Issue? How About Drugs That Don’t Kill? (November 29, 2004)
As Democrats continue to search heaven and earth for a moral values issue they can call their own, I have just the prescription: Why not start with the immoral behavior of giant drug companies such as Merck that continue to sacrifice the health of the public on the altar of higher and higher profits?According to last week’s Senate testimony by Dr. David Graham, associate director for science and medicine in the FDA’s Office of Drug Safety, as many as 55,000 patients may have died as a result of taking Vioxx. Shocking. But not to Merck, which had spent hundreds of millions of dollars convincing Americans to take its blockbuster pain pill even though the company’s own studies showed that it greatly increased the risk of heart attacks and strokes. (...) Merck’s actions throughout the entire Vioxx affair have been utterly despicable. When the company pulled the drug off the market in September, CEO Raymond Gilmartin claimed that the scientific findings that led to the withdrawal were “unexpected.” This is like releasing a ravenous wolf into a pen full of sheep, then acting surprised that lamb chops are on the menu. Recently uncovered internal Merck documents show that, as far back as 1998 — a year before the drug was even approved by the FDA — the drug giant had evidence indicating that Vioxx was a potential killer. (...) Speaking of ads, the most loathsome aspect of the whole Vioxx affair is the way Merck used a $500 million marketing campaign to persuade over 20 million Americans to pop its noxious little pill. And company executives continued to run these ads long after they knew there was big trouble brewing. CLIP

20 Ways The World Could End
We've had a good run of it. In the 500,000 years Homo sapiens has roamed the land we've built cities, created complex languages, and sent robotic scouts to other planets. It's difficult to imagine it all coming to an end. Yet 99 percent of all species that ever lived have gone extinct, including every one of our hominid ancestors. In 1983, British cosmologist Brandon Carter framed the "Doomsday argument," a statistical way to judge when we might join them. If humans were to survive a long time and spread through the galaxy, then the total number of people who will ever live might number in the trillions. By pure odds, it's unlikely that we would be among the very first hundredth of a percent of all those people. Or turn the argument around: How likely is it that this generation will be the one unlucky one? Something like one fifth of all the people who have ever lived are alive today. The odds of being one of the people to witness doomsday are highest when there is the largest number of witnesses around— so now is not such an improbable time. Human activity is severely disrupting almost all life on the planet, which surely doesn't help matters. The current rate of extinctions is, by some estimates, 10,000 times the average in the fossil record. At present, we may worry about snail darters and red squirrels in abstract terms. But the next statistic on the list could be us. CLIP

The report omits to mention that Monsanto control over 90% of total world area sown to transgenic seeds. The FAO report, Agricultural biotechnology: meeting the needs of the poor? states that GMOs could be key to solving world hunger, and pushes for more funding. The report was denounced by 650 worldwide civil society organisations in an open letter to the Director of the FAO in Rome. The letter, signed by 800 individuals from more than 80 countries, demanded structural changes in access to land, food and political power, to be combined with support for sustainable technologies in farmer-led research. It was also rejected by five international NGOs at a Hunger, Food Aid and GMOs meeting at Maputo, Mozambique in July 2004. Via Campesina, an organisation representing the interests of peasant-farmers worldwide said that promoting a technological solution to the problem of hunger in the form of GM crops is "a slap in the face for those who defend food sovereignty." The development of industrial agriculture has already caused millions of rural people to be displaced from their lands and condemned them to lives of misery. GM crops, the latest offering in industrial agriculture, will only intensify that trend. CLIP

Bhopal 20 years on: polluted water, chronic illness and little compensation (29 November)
The failure of the Indian government and an American corporation to tackle the after-effects of one of the worst industrial accidents in history has left a legacy of continuing pollution and inadequate medical care for survivors, according to a report released today. Days before the 20th anniversary of the Bhopal disaster in India a study has shown that survivors are still desperately in need of medical treatment and have not been properly compensated. On the night of 2 December 1984, poisonous methyl isocyanate (MIC) gas leaked from the Union Carbide pesticide factory in Bhopal. Thousands were killed immediately. Thousands more were to die from the effects of that night in the months and years that followed. I have been reading such accounts on my own and find it abhorrent, all the more so because it's blacked out from corporate media. It is easily enough found in alternative media if one cares to find it, and I do think many find it and know about it. I study this, have studied this for years. Subject: Regarding your comment on Fallujah atrocities

Dear Jean,

I don't know how many others feel this way, but I am horrified by what is happening there, yet have no idea how I can help other than to try to help get the corrupt officials responsible removed from office. That is why I've been focusing so hard on the election fraud. I believe that if the true "voice of the American People" were being honored, this would not be.

I can't directly stop war planes and troops already on the move, but I can help expose the lies and deceit of those who order what they do. I've read many articles on the occurrences in Fallujah and Iraq on almost daily. I just don't know what else to do. I voted. I wrote letters and admonished, I donated, everything I was supposed to do, and still Bush is there pushing horror buttons. Worse yet, there based on lies and tricks. All I know to do is to help make his lies and tricks so common knowledge that he and the rest like him can not endure in power.

Call on the German Federal Prosecutor to Investigate Rumsfeld and Other U.S. Officials for War Crimes at Abu Ghraib

The Center for Constitutional Rights and four Iraqis who were tortured in U.S. custody have filed a complaint with the German Federal Prosecutor’s Office against high ranking United States civilian and military commanders over the abuses at Abu Ghraib prison and elsewhere in Iraq.

We are asking the German prosecutor to launch an investigation: since the U.S. government is unwilling to open an independent investigation into the responsibility of these officials for war crimes, and since the U.S. has refused to join the International Criminal Court, CCR and the Iraqi victims have brought this complaint in Germany as a court of last resort. Several of the defendants are stationed in Germany.

Defendants include Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld, former CIA Director George Tenet, Lt. General Ricardo S. Sanchez, Major-General Walter Wojdakowski, Brig.-General Janis Karpinski, Lt.-Colonel Jerry L. Phillabaum, Colonel Thomas M. Pappas, Lt.-Colonel Stephen L. Jordan, Major-General Geoffrey Miller, and Undersecretary of Defense for Intelligence Stephen Cambone.

German law allows German courts to prosecute for killing, torture, cruel and inhumane treatment, forcible transfers and sexual coercion such as occurred at Abu Ghraib. The world has seen the photographs and read the leaked “torture memos” – we are doing what is necessary when other systems of justice have failed and seeking to hold officials up the chain of command responsible for the shameful abuses that occurred.

Please join our effort! The German Prosecutor has discretion to decide whether to initiate an investigation. It is critical that he hear from you so he knows that people around the world support this effort.

Deadline: December 31, 2004

I am writing to express my support for the criminal complaint filed against U.S. Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld, et al., by the Center for Constitutional Rights, represented by Wolfgang Kaleck of Berlin, on November 30, 2004. I kindly request that you begin the investigations regarding the incidents at Abu Ghraib and others, unless the United States itself begins an independent investigation of the high-ranking officials and members of the military responsible for these war crimes. Because the U.S. is failing to fully investigate, and because the U.S. is not a member of the International Criminal Court, there is no other forum to turn to in seeking justice and accountability.

Sincerely yours,

Center For Constitutional Rights Seeks Criminal Investigation in Germany into Culpability of U.S. Officials in Abu Ghraib Torture

German Prosecutor Asked to Meet Obligations under Law Requiring Investigation into Torture and War Crimes. Doctrine of Universal Jurisdiction Permits Prosecution of Suspected War Criminals Wherever They May Be Found

In a historic effort to hold high-ranking U.S. officials accountable for brutal acts of torture including the widely publicized abuses carried out at Abu Ghraib, on Tuesday November 30, 2004, the Center for Constitutional Rights (CCR) and four Iraqi citizens filed a criminal complaint with the German Federal Prosecutor’s Office at the Karlsruhe Court, Karlsruhe, Germany. Under the doctrine of universal jurisdiction, suspected war criminals may be prosecuted irrespective of where they are located.

The four Iraqis were victims of gruesome crimes including severe beatings, sleep and food deprivation, hooding and sexual abuse. (Further details of the treatment of the complainants are attached.)

CCR President Michael Ratner, who traveled to Berlin to file the complaint, said “From Donald Rumsfeld on down, the political and military leaders in charge of Iraq policy must be investigated and held accountable. It is shameful that the United States of America, a nation that purports to set moral and legal standards for world, refuses to seriously investigate the role of those at the top of the chain of command in these horrible crimes.” “Indeed,” Ratner added “the existence of ‘torture memos’ drafted by administration officials and the authorization of techniques that violated humanitarian law by Secretary Rumsfeld, Lt. General Sanchez and others make clear that responsibility for Abu Ghraib and other violations of law reaches all the way to the top.”

The U.S. officials charged include Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld, Former CIA Director George Tenet, Undersecretary of Defense for Intelligence Dr. Stephen Cambone, Lieutenant General Ricardo Sanchez, Major General Walter Wojdakowski, Major General Geoffrey Miller, Brigadier General Janis L. Karpinski, Lieutenant Colonel Jerry L. Phillabaum, Colonel Thomas Pappas, and Lieutenant Colonel Stephen L. Jordan.

The criminal complaint was brought under the German Code of Crimes against International Law (CCIL) and seeks an investigation into war crimes allegedly carried out by high ranking United States civilian and military officials, including the incidents which occurred in Iraq.

Please join our effort! The German Prosecutor has discretion to decide whether to initiate an investigation. It is critical that he hear from you so he knows that people around the world support this effort.

CCR is represented in Germany by Wolfgang Kaleck, a Berlin-based lawyer who has been involved in similar efforts on behalf of victims of the Argentine “dirty war.”

The charges include violations of the German Code, “War Crimes against Persons,” which outlaws killing, torture, cruel and inhumane treatment, sexual coercion and forcible transfers. The Code makes criminally responsible those who carry out the above acts as well as those who induce, condone or order the acts. It also makes commanders liable, whether civilian or military, who fail to prevent their subordinates from committing such acts.

The German Code of Crimes against International Law grants German Courts what is called Universal Jurisdiction for the above-described crimes. Article 1, Part 1, Section 1 states: "This Act shall apply to all criminal offenses against international law designated under this Act, to serious criminal offences designated therein even when the offence was committed abroad and bears no relation to Germany.” This means that those who commit such crimes can be prosecuted wherever found: they, like pirates of old, are considered enemies of all humankind.

The German CCIL places a prosecuting duty on the German prosecutor for all crimes that constitute violations of the CCIL, irrespective of the location of the person, the crime, or the nationality of the persons involved. Complaints can be filed with the German prosecutor to seek an investigation of specific crimes, as was done here. While outside parties can bring complaints to the attention of a prosecutor in the U.S., there is no duty to prosecute such complaints and they do not become part of an official court procedure. In Germany, the prosecutor is under a duty to determine if an investigation and indictments are warranted; if he fails to do so, the complainants can appeal to the court.

According to CCR lawyers, in this case there are particularly compelling reasons the prosecutor should exercise his duty. Three of the defendants are present in Germany: Lt. General Sanchez and Major General Wodjakoski are stationed in Heidelberg, and Colonel Pappas is in Wiesbaden. Others, such as Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld, often travel to Germany. In addition, the military units that engaged in the illegal conduct are stationed in Germany. Although such links to Germany are unnecessary for the prosecutor to fulfill his duty, when the alleged perpetrators are actually on German soil the duty to investigate is even stronger. Their presence in Germany gives the prosecutor an important avenue to investigate these cases. Last, since the complainants are also victims, this places an additional duty on the prosecutor to investigate.

“We view Germany as a court of last resort,” said CCR Vice President Peter Weiss, “We file these cases here because there is simply no other place to go. It is clear that the U.S. government is not willing to open an investigation into these allegations against these officials.” Weiss also pointed out that Congress has failed to seriously investigate the abuses and none of the various commissions appointed by the military and the Bush administration has been willing to look unflinchingly up the chain of command to consider what criminal responsibility lies with the military and political leadership. Instead, they asserted that the abuses and torture were the exclusive responsibility of rogue lower-level military personnel.

There are no international courts or courts in Iraq that can carry out investigations and prosecutions of the U.S. role, either: the United States has refused to join the International Criminal Court, thereby foreclosing the option of pursuing a prosecution in international courts; Iraq has no authority to prosecute; and the U.S. gave immunity to all its personnel in Iraq from Iraqi prosecution. Says Weiss, “We are doing what is necessary and expected when other systems of justice have failed: we are asking the German prosecutors, who have available one of the most advanced universal jurisdiction laws in the world, to begin an investigation that is required under its law.”

Urges Rumsfeld War Crimes Probe in Germany (Nov 30, 2004)
U.S. BERLIN (Reuters) - A U.S. human rights group urged German prosecutors Tuesday to investigate accusations that Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld and senior U.S. officers are guilty of war crimes over the Iraqi prisoner abuse scandal. In an unusual legal move, the U.S. Center for Constitutional Rights (CCR) has filed a criminal complaint with Germany's Federal Prosecutors along with four Iraqis who say they were tortured and humiliated alongside other prisoners by U.S. soldiers at the notorious Abu Ghraib prison outside Baghdad. CCR is taking advantage of a 2002 German law allowing prosecutions for human rights and war crimes regardless of where the acts took place or the nationalities of the perpetrators. (...) Photographs of U.S. soldiers tormenting naked detainees shocked the world when they emerged in April, prompting claims that policies adopted for President Bush's "war on terror" created the environment for breaching human rights enshrined in U.S. and international law. A top-level U.S. inquiry blamed the military chain of command for creating conditions that allowed the abuses to take place, but only seven lower ranking military police and an intelligence soldier have been indicted so far. CCR says it wants German prosecutors to investigate thoroughly, but has no firm expectation as to the outcome. "I would also want to see this case possibly prompting the United States government to say we have to seriously investigate these crimes ourselves," Ratner told reporters. I don't know where this will lead but certainly if war crimes have been committed it should lead to significant jail sentences for people," he added. CCR vice president Peter Weiss said a 1998 Spanish attempt to extradite and prosecute former Chilean strongman Augusto Pinochet for human rights abuses during his 1973-1990 military dictatorship had prompted Chile to lift Pinochet's diplomatic immunity, curtailing his travel. German lawyer Wolfgang Kaleck said the bid to prosecute the 10 might affect their travel plans to avoid Germany, although three of the charged are based in the country. "We think of our action possibly in terms of small successes." Weiss said that Washington's failure to pursue those responsible and its justification of legal violations due to "extraordinary circumstances" had set a dangerous example. "This authorization that has come from the highest levels... gives a green light for those kinds of violations throughout the world," he said.

Red Cross Finds Torture at Guantánamo

The Regime Continues; Novus Ordo Seclorum Secundo, Patriot Act III

The great, and soon to be all powerful, Bush-Cheney regime continues. Was there really ever any doubt? Al Martin is in mourning for our country.

What were the first acts on Wednesday (Nov 3) of the Regime? To shut down some 300 "Political Content" websites, worldwide, that were exposing the truth of the true intentions of the Regime and to once again attempt to attach an amendment, this time on the back of the upcoming $70 billion special military appropriation bill to pay for ongoing Afghan & Iraqi costs, which would add the words "loyal citizens" on the end of the "pledge of allegiance."

And we can't forget that the reciting of the new pledge would be mandatory in the nation's public schools. Also fresh obstacles for citizens attempting to move gold into offshore safe deposit boxes have been erected.

Readers should be reminded that the now "dusted off the shelf" gold confiscation act of 1933 extends specific powers to the secret service to "invade" safe deposit boxes.

The next section of Patriot II, that will be passed into law, will give the secret service extralegal powers to invade "foreign jurisdiction" safe deposit boxes held by US citizens, whose "principal domiciliary" is in the United States.

Further, the word "currency", as used in the relevant sections of Patriot Act II, would imply that the Treasury Department intends to reinstitute currency restrictions, last used in 1971, as Secretary Snow has intimated.

Why Patriot III? Because the remainder of Patriot II not already passed into law, will be so by the end of this year, further, and as Utah Senator Orrin Hatch has recently stated, the regime is anxious to reintroduce the requisite legislation to have "Posse Commitatus" overturned and see the $3.8 billion appropriation to fund NICA, or the National Identity Card Act, passed.

Hatch continued that with opinion polls now showing that the majority of the nation standing against the Patriot Acts, pro-Bush faction Republicans want to draw as little attention as possible to any further legislation that would further diminish civil rights and constitutional protections.

Thus, the bills to overturn posse commitatus and to fund NICA, will be included in the Patriot III Act, which will also include the appropriations to fund the CDF (Civilian Defense Force) and to "para-militarize" the NWA (Neighborhood Watch Associations) for the purposes of domestic intelligence gathering on US citizens so that a data base for the Office of Internal Security (OIS), which could become a fully functioning federal agency, upon the passage of Patriot III, as it is now envisioned.

Eyewitness Report From Fallujah: Lords Of The Flies

By Hakim Mirzoev

Russian original text - 24.11.2004 - translated by dari890

One of our readers (of the Russian newspaper "Zavtra") happened to be in Fallujah, besieged by American troops. He escaped from the destroyed city and sent us his notes.

...Together with Americans the flies invaded the city. They are millions. The whole city seems to be under their power. The flies cover the corpses. The older is corpse, the more flies are upon it. First they cover a corpse as by some strange rash. Then they begin to swarm upon it, and then a gray moving shroud covers the corpse. Flies swarm upon some ruins as gray monstrous shadows. The stench is awful.

The flies are everywhere. In the hospital wards, operating rooms, canteen. You find them even where they cannot be. In the "humanitarian" plastic bottle with warm plastic-stinking water. The bottle is almost full, simply someone opened it for a second and made a gulp, but this black spot is already floating there...

It is a general crisis with water. There are simply no clean sources. The local residents fetch water from the river, muddy, gray and dead. You can buy anything for water now. The sewage system is broken, the water supply is broken, and electricity is absent in the city.

I am afraid to imagine what will happen in two weeks. Hepatitis will take toll of thousands. They say already that people at the outskirts are in fever with the symptoms of typhus. But one cannot verify it. They prohibited moving in the city.

Everybody knew that they would storm the city. But nobody could imagine HOW it would be happening. Honestly speaking, even I did not believe that I would once again be in hell. After the hell in Grozny I thought that nothing similar would ever happen. That the storm on Grozny was a national Russian masochism, a return to medieval times, a stupidity mixed with a crime. And Baghdad, yielded practically without a fight, made one think that this storm would not last for long. That they would shoot at the outskirts to show off, bomb out a couple of buildings and everything would be finished. The fighters would hide and the Americans would report their mission accomplished.

My friend "fighter" Abdullah suggested me to go. He stubbornly calls me "hakim". It means something like "wise man" in Arabic.

- Hakim, go away! There is big battle coming. Our people will not leave the city. We want to show these jackals how Iraqis can fight. The blood of occupants will flow like a river along the streets... I thought it was bravado.

It is a pity that I did not listen to him. On the second day they simply started to demolish the city. Close explosions rocked the floor rocked under the feet. The plaster fell off the ceiling, the windowpanes burst. You could talk only by shouting because of the continuous gunfire. But the most terrible has begun already on the first day. The wounded started to come into the hospital like a flow. One of the doctors tuned in to BBC by his pocket radio. The news announcer mumbled something about the precision weapons and high professional level of soldiers, about collateral damage reduced to minimum.

I do not know in which place they employed their precision weapons, we had an endless stream of wounded children, women, and elders. Not dozens - hundreds! On the third day the medicines started to come to the end. Especially anesthetics and antibiotics. But the stream did not exhausted. Only on the fourth day we have had a less number of wounded. But it was not because the storm calmed down. On the contrary, now the fights raged in the streets. Simply Americans captured the hospital quarter.

Americans. I have the impression that there are no other words except "fuck" and "shit". Each communication, each order is accompanied by a flow of 'fucks', 'shits' and 'bullshits'. I look at Americans with a pity. The Russian language is much more powerful with emotional expressions.

Observing Americans, I catch myself thinking that they are incredibly similar to Russian soldiers, whom I saw in Grozny in January 1994. The same infinite weariness, "burnt out" eyes. The same dull expression on the faces, when the conscience is tired to react to outer stimuli. The same repulsion from the outer world, "autism". In the whole world they have now only them and the rest is wicked and evil.... Yes, to storm the cities is a nasty business. As Stalingrad, as Grozny, as Fallujah.

But you have differences, too. The complete order in the uniform and ammunition jumps to the eye. It seems that a half of what each soldier carries could have been left at the base, but everything is put on and fixed anyway. Their discipline of wearing the uniform and ammunition is well observed.

The second is their collectivity. The Americans do not move alone at all. I even did not see them in pairs. If they appear, they arrive by the whole party. And nobody walks away from his party. Even when their detachment fights, they are all within each other’s sight.

Americans started the shoot-out with the fighters across the road of our hospital. It was strange to see how a dozen of GIs stood together along the wall and the whole rank fired along the street before them, like on the barricades in 19th century. Had one mortar shell or mine exploded behind them, they would all be gone...

They search in the hospital. They check the documents of everybody. The Iraqi translators bustle. The nastiest sort of people. They combine all the worst things.
Obliging, ingratiating to their American "masters" as only Arabs can do, they are shamelessly impudent and pompous with their own people. They make their business on translation all the time. If the American demands the house to be ready for inspection, then the translator will certainly add that the house will be searched, and he, translator, needs a bribe so that the Americans would not go to the women's part of the house. Although according to the order, the women's part should only be visited by Iraqi police. This said, the Americans do not follow the order closely...

A dark-skinned hawk-nosed GI, pure Peruvian by his look, noticed me among the "wax-skinned" Iraqis and menacingly moved to me. The edge of his helmet was at the level of my chin, and I could not see his eyes. This was dangerous.

"Who are you?" asked he. My English is far from perfection, but his is even further.

... Generally, it is very notable how many various "colored-skin" soldiers are among the Americans. Suddenly I remembered my service near Baikal Lake in Siberia and my company of hundred people, which included only thirty Russians, five people from Caucasus like me, and all the others from Central Asia. Among the "colored-skin" GIs "Latinos" are largest group, then Africans and semi-Africans. The officers are mostly whites but there are also blacks... But I cannot understand at all, why the US Army soldiers speak broken English!!

I explain to him that I am a doctor, the humanitarian mission representative. I show my plastic "badge". He suspiciously examines the document. The barrel of his rifle hits my hip at his every movement. My Turkish passport confuses him completely. The soldier takes me by the sleeve and pulls somewhere. I understand that it is useless to argue and follow him. In the corridor I am handed over to the sergeant. The sergeant is white. I repeat everything that I said before. Another man studies my ID with the same suspicion. Then he demands that I take off my surgical coat and the T-shirt. Well, I passed it many times in Chechnya and Serbia. I take off my clothes. The sergeant and the soldiers closely examine my shoulders, looking for the bruises from the rifle's butt. Finally I am allowed to dress myself.

When I button my coat, the sergeant, with a barking commander's voice, suddenly asks me whether I treated the fighters. I almost laugh at that. I have a weird feeling - as though I watch the film about the Second World War with me as an actor, and the large German in his helmet (the American helmets look pretty much German) asks me, "Where are the Partisanen?" I shrug my shoulders. I tell him that they bring everyone to us. But without weapons. Who is the fighter, who is civilian - we cannot tell. The sergeant loses his interest in me after it. I cannot help but ask him how strongly the fighters resist? The sergeant’s face turns stone. Then the whole flood of 'fucks', 'bullshits' towards the fighters. Out of this flood I pick up that the marines would already capture the city and wipe the fighters long time ago, but the commanders look back at politicians and spare bombs and shells. And it is hard for soldiers because of that. But the victory is near...

I recall two days of bombing and think that if it is "spare the shells", then what is not to spare them?

When I return to the staff room, the search is at the full speed. The soldiers inspect the wards, by first cautiously peeking inside, and then bursting into the room by the whole party. Clanking of weapons, tramping, orders. The main attention towards the young males. For some reason they look for those who are with bullet wounds. But we have here only in very serious condition, mostly unconscious. A whole crowd of relatives beside every bed. A continuous cry over the whole hospital.

Yesterday Dr. Ahmed brought half a liter of iodine from somewhere in the bottle of Chivas Regal. He put is to the refrigerator, defrosted long ago. One of GIs opens the refrigerator, sees the bottle. Looking around his shoulder, he takes it out quickly. Apparently noticing that it is open, he turns away the cap and smells the liquid. After that he winced and, with already familiar 'fuck', throws it to the wall. The iodine splashes the treatment room by red shower. It smells by the sea and alcohol. GI goes away without a word. We do no speak, too. This iodine was the last one.

Finally they go away. They take three wounded Iraqis with them. They are suspected fighters.

In the next two days, the searching procedure is repeated twice. Every time they carry away somebody.

In the evening we receive the wounded teenager. He has two bullet wounds in his chest. By him is a woman - his mother and an old man. They shout, explaining something. I hear familiar "min faldik!" - please! - "Aunni!" - help!.. The teenager is taken to the operating room. He has no chances - we are practically without the medicines. And even if the operation will be successful, there will be nothing to carry out [post operational treatment]. Abdul Karim gloomily opens the pack of cigarettes. He just finished listening to the long confused explanations by the old man.

-- After interrogations, the Americans give the usual detainees to our traitors ... — he calls the new Iraqi army by this word — and those shoot them. This boy was executed together with three other men. Bastards...

The rumors about the shootings without trial become true. Many wounded tell that somebody was executed or finished off before their eyes. After all I saw these days I begin to believe it. The American army evidently has broken loose...

The surgeon comes out after an hour. The teenager has died. The crying mother is led away by the old Iraqi. He is her brother. The surgeon sits down on the sofa and closes his eyes.

-- Aneh teben! — I am so tired! ...

During the five days, while the count was yet conducted, more than three thousand wounded passed through our hospital. These were the people who lived nearby. The people who could be delivered to us. Nobody knows how many people in the city are dead. Nobody will ever know...

Tomorrow the mission's car will pick me up. How the driver could break into the city, only God knows. Maybe the insignia on the hood and the doors worked out.

And here I am going through the city and cannot say a word in shock. I cannot recognize the city. Only ten days ago it was an Iraqi town with its regular for centuries Arabic life. Boiling bazaars, noisy streets. And here I am going through the empty dead city, between the ugly "pyramids" of destroyed buildings, broken streets, whole quarters wiped from the face of earth. The city is killed and dismembered by some monstrous maniac. Beelzebub - the lord of the flies. Under the flag of stars and stripes, where the stars look so alike to thick flesh flies.

I go and ask the skies again, like five years ago in bombed out Kosovo, will anybody ever answer for this barbarism? But the skies do not respond. Only a few US battle helicopters pass nearby my road towards the ruins of the city. The killings continue.

You asked for my evidence, Mr Ambassador. Here it is! (December 4, 2004) by Naomi Klein,,1366278,00.html
In Iraq, the US does eliminate those who dare to count the dead - The Guardian David T Johnson, Acting ambassador, US Embassy, London Dear Mr Johnson, On November 26, your press counsellor sent a letter to the Guardian taking strong exception to a sentence in my column of the same day. The sentence read: "In Iraq, US forces and their Iraqi surrogates are no longer bothering to conceal attacks on civilian targets and are openly eliminating anyone -- doctors, clerics, journalists -- who dares to count the bodies." Of particular concern was the word "eliminating". The letter suggested that my charge was "baseless" and asked the Guardian either to withdraw it, or provide "evidence of this extremely grave accusation". It is quite rare for US embassy officials to openly involve themselves in the free press of a foreign country, so I took the letter extremely seriously. But while I agree that the accusation is grave, I have no intention of withdrawing it. Here, instead, is the evidence you requested. (...) "We don't do body counts," said General Tommy Franks of US Central Command. The question is: what happens to the people who insist on counting the bodies -- the doctors who must pronounce their patients dead, the journalists who document these losses, the clerics who denounce them? In Iraq, evidence is mounting that these voices are being systematically silenced through a variety of means, from mass arrests, to raids on hospitals, media bans, and overt and unexplained physical attacks. Mr Ambassador, I believe that your government and its Iraqi surrogates are waging two wars in Iraq. One war is against the Iraqi people, and it has claimed an estimated 100,000 lives. The other is a war on witnesses.

Fallujah's 9/11: U.S. Used Weapons of Mass Destruction

November 9th, 2004 was Fallujah's 9/11 Tuesday. It marked the peak of three days of indiscriminate bombing of Fallujah by US forces.

Iraqi Defense Minister Hazem Al-Shaalan promised that the day would be decisive. It wasn't. It was inhumane beyond belief, almost beyond comprehension.

The bomb blitz featured weapons of mass destruction: banned napalm-type munitions, chemical poison gas and super-bombs of up to 2,000-pounds. The ground assault was indiscriminate. The target was a city where at least 60,000 civilians outnumbered rebel fighters by over thirty to one.

The attack on Fallujah was the worst single terrorism atrocity since 2,752 people died in New York on Tuesday, 9/11/2001. Around two hundred were killed in the 3/11 Madrid train bombings and a similar number in the Bali blast. But, the Iraqi Red Crescent fear that up to 6,000 may have been killed so far, in the terror which is being visited on Fallujah.

If the emerging reports prove true, the US military commanders and their political superiors, who ordered the atrocities must be tried for war crimes.
The evidence of those crimes is accumulating, as accounts by aid workers' from inside Fallujah manage to bypass reporting restrictions.

At least three independent reports indicate that the US forces used chemical poison gas in Fallujah. Within days of the start of the assault was reporting:

"The US occupation troops are gassing resistance fighters and confronting them with internationally-banned chemical weapons," resistance sources told Al-Quds Press Wednesday, November 10. The fatal weapons led to the deaths of tens of innocent civilians, whose bodies litter sidewalks and streets, they added.

"The US troops have sprayed chemical and nerve gases on resistance fighters, turning them hysteric in a heartbreaking scene," an Iraqi doctor, who requested anonymity, told Al-Quds Press.

"Some Fallujah residents have been further burnt beyond treatment by poisonous gases," added resistance fighters, who took part in Golan battles, northwest of Fallujah.
US Troops Reportedly Gassing Fallujah, Islam Online

Respected, independent journalist Dahr Jamail (IPS) files reports for The Nation, BBC, Democracy Now!, and other stations. On November 26, 2004 he reported:

The US military has used poison gas and other non-conventional weapons against civilians in Fallujah, eyewitnesses report.

"Poisonous gases have been used in Fallujah," 35-year-old trader from Fallujah Abu Hammad told IPS. "They used everything -- tanks, artillery, infantry, poison gas. Fallujah has been bombed to the ground." Hammad is from the Julan district of Fallujah where some of the heaviest fighting occurred.

Activist journalist Ewa Jasiewicz recently had 'disruption' charges laid against her for protesting at an Iraq privatization conference last April. She had just returned from 9 months solidarity work with refugees and women‚s groups in Iraq. On Saturday November 27th, 2004 she reported:

Residents of the Hay Julan area who were able to flee Fallujah described an apple smelling chemical with which they were exposed to before the main onslaught into Fallujah. There was a break of about half a day between the presence of the gas/chemical and when the main assault started.

The chemical created open wounds on the skin which were very hard to treat. After a while all exposed areas on the skin were cracked and bleeding. People came out of Fallujah with these injuries. They described smoke, a sweet smell and when they were exposed to the smoke, they coughed up blood and had cracked bleeding skin.

Most of these families were hiding. When they smelled the gas they thought this was a gas attack and fled their homes and made their way through small backroads unoccupied by Occupation Forces. This happened at the beginning of the attack on Fallujah - around 2 weeks ago.

An immediate investigation by a suitable international body under the auspices of the United Nations should seek testimony from military and civilian witnesses. Forensic examination of the victims and the scene is likely to produce concrete evidence, if not delayed.

The US military is refusing permission for relatives to return to Fallujah to collect the dead. There are valid military reasons, as with around half of the city in US control and active engagement with rebels ongoing, the area is still a battle zone.

But, a worry is that an army and political leadership guilty of war crimes is even now destroying such evidence as would establish their guilt.

Abdul Razaq Ismail who escaped from Fallujah two weeks back said... "The Americans were dropping [dead] bodies into the Euphrates near Fallujah."

A US command prepared to use chemical weapons is unlikely to balk at the use of the banned incendiary weapon of napalm. Indeed, in August last year, the US admitted dropping napalm bombs during the three-week invasion of Iraq, despite earlier denials by the Pentagon.

Reports of the attack on Fallujah indicate that weapons indistinguishable from napalm in their effect were used again. Dahr Jamail reports again:

"They used these weird bombs that put up smoke like a mushroom cloud," Abu Sabah, another Fallujah refugee from the Julan area told IPS. "Then small pieces fall from the air with long tails of smoke behind them."

He said pieces of these bombs exploded into large fires that burnt the skin even when water was thrown on the burns. Phosphorous weapons as well as napalm are known to cause such effects.

"People suffered so much from these," he said.

Other mainstream media reports confirm this account and elaborate on the mindset of local US commanders:

"Usually we keep the gloves on,"said the head of the US 1st Infantry Division's Task Force 2-2 tactical operations command center. "For this operation, we took the gloves off."

'Some artillery guns fired white phosphorous rounds that create a screen of fire that cannot be extinguished with water. Insurgents reported being attacked with a substance that melted their skin.' Washington Post, 10 Nov., p. A01

'White phosphorus shells lit up the sky as armour... sent flaming material on to suspect insurgent haunts.' Telegraph, 9 Nov., p. 1

That mindset also governed the military tactics used in support of ground forces advancing into Fallujah after the first intensive wave of bombing:

"'The American military has been using novel and devastating methods to clear Fallujahs' streets.' Including the rocket-fired 350-foot-long string of plastic explosives known as Miclic, which can clear a lane through a minefield 8 meters wide and 100 meters long. 'The Miclic.... is highly effective but also indiscriminate, and not normally considered suitable for an urban environment.'
Times, 10 Nov., p. 9

'White phosphorus shells lit up the sky as armour... sent flaming material on to suspect insurgent haunts.' Telegraph, 9 Nov., p. 1

The rules of engagement for the US troops were such that civilian deaths were inevitable:

The night before the assault began, the order came down that troops could shoot any male on the street between the ages of 15 and 50 if they were viewed as a security threat, regardless of whether they had a weapon. When marines asked a gunnery sergeant for clarification, he told his men if they saw any military-aged males on the street "Drop 'em."

Falluja troops told to shoot on sight, Al-Jazeerah

In the end, not just males of fighting age, but women, children and the aged were all grist to the mill of US forces encouraged to effectively regard all persons in Fallujah as enemy combatants:

'Anyone still in the city will be regarded as a potential insurgent.'
Observer, 7 Nov., p. 18

Kassem Mohammed Ahmed who escaped from Fallujah a little over a week ago told IPS he witnessed many atrocities committed by US soldiers in the city. "I watched them roll over wounded people in the street with tanks," he said. "This happened so many times."

Abu Hammad said he saw people attempt to swim across the Euphrates to escape the siege. "The Americans shot them with rifles from the shore," he said. "Even if some of them were holding a white flag or white clothes over their heads to show they are not fighters, they were all shot.."

Hammad said he had seen elderly women carrying white flags shot by US soldiers. "Even the wounded people were killed. The Americans made announcements for people to come to one mosque if they wanted to leave Fallujah, and even the people who went there carrying white flags were killed."

Another Fallujah resident Khalil (40) told IPS he saw civilians shot as they held up makeshift white flags. "They shot women and old men in the streets," he said. "Then they shot anyone who tried to get their bodies..."

However, the street fighting tactics ordered for US GI's played the lesser role in the toll of fatalities. The tactical and bombing decisions by military commanders were the key to the majority of the deaths.

But these reports of callous regard for civilians indicate that the recent furor over the slaying of an injured Fallujah rebel, was a "limited hangout"diversion seized on by a propagandist media keen to avoid more much more grisly tales of an army turned barbarians.

The unmistakable impression from all these reports is that the massacre in Fallujah was no mere technical breach of international law governing combat. These are not "isolated incidents". They are incidents which betray a coherent policy.

There has been a clear military/political policy to comprehensively and calculatedly flout the protections mandated for civilians caught in conflict. It was an attack designed to strike terror more than to win ground. It was, in short terrorism.

The weapons used were illegal and immoral. Their deployment was indiscriminate. The tactics were indiscriminate.

The relevant US commanders should be immediately detained and interrogated so we can determine on whose orders they acted, that others may also face justice.

We could, of course dispense with the Geneva Convention to guide their treatment. Just as US forces did. We could use torture as a means of getting vital information. Just as US forces did.

After all, we are up against dangerous terrorists who target civilians, and our objective is to help safeguard further loss of life.

But, despite the allure of such actions, we should adhere to the rules of civilized behavior. We should not descend to the level of murderous, criminal thugs.

Either way, the military and any superiors implicated in these war crimes --no matter how high up the chain of command-- could get the death penalty.

After all, that's the way they do things in Texas.

But again, we must resist the urge to take human life needlessly, else we plunge into the moral mire in which these terrorists have already sunk.

The date on which unknown terrorist commanders allegedly orchestrated the attacks on New York and Washington, September 11th -- is written in the US as 9/11.

"Allegedly"--because the U.S. Government never produced the dossier of evidence they claimed at the time would prove their case. And no substantial criminal convictions as yet support that claim.

The date on which as yet unidentified terrorist U.S. commanders attacked Fallujah on November 9th --is written outside the U.S., also as 9/11.

Many believe that same people were behind both of these now infamous atrocities. They maintain the 9/11 attacks were an "inside job".

One argument of those unconvinced by such "conspiracy theories," is that no US political/military cabal would be capable of such callous inhumanity. That argument no longer holds. Fallujah's 9/11 ends such illusions.

But that's a terrorism story for another day.

Breaking News from Fallujah

Aid reaches Falluja's citizens (Nov 27, 2004)
The US prevented aid entering the city for weeksAid is finally flowing into Falluja, following the heavy US-led offensive that began nearly three weeks ago to wrest the city from rebel control. The Iraqi Red Crescent told the BBC it was delivering aid on a daily basis. But a spokesman says it is feared more than 6,000 people could have died in the assault and thousands of families are in critical need of assistance. Meanwhile, Iraqi and US politicians have insisted elections will go ahead in January despite a plea for a delay. A spokesman for Iraq's interim Prime Minister Iyad Allawi's said the government was determined to hold the elections on 30 January despite calls by some political parties for a six-month delay because of deteriorating security. US ambassador to Iraq John Negroponte also said the poll must go ahead on time. CLIP

A War Crime in Real Time: Obliterating Fallujah

by Francis A. Boyle, International Law Professor, University of Illinois

November 18, 2004

The Bush Jr. administration's foreign policy constitutes ongoing criminal activity under well-recognized principles of both international law and US domestic law, in particular the Nuremberg Charter, the Nuremberg Judgment, and the Nuremberg Principles.

The obliteration of Fallujah continues apace. Article 6(b) of the 1945 Nuremberg Charter defines a Nuremberg War Crime in relevant part as the "...wanton destruction of cities, towns or villages..." According to this definitive definition, the Bush Jr. administration's destruction of Fallujah constitutes the sort of war crime for which Nazis were tried and executed. There is nothing surprising about that.

Since the Bush Jr. administration's installation in power by the United States Supreme Court in January of 2001, the peoples of the world have witnessed a government in the United States of America that has demonstrated little if any respect for fundamental considerations of international law, international organizations, and human rights, let alone appreciation of the requirements for maintaining international peace and security. What the world has watched instead is a comprehensive and malicious assault upon the integrity of the international legal order by a group of men and women who are thoroughly Machiavellian in their perception of international relations and in their conduct of both foreign policy and domestic affairs.

This is not simply a question of giving or withholding the benefit of the doubt when it comes to complicated matters of foreign affairs and defense policies to a US government charged with the security of both its own citizens and those of its allies in Europe, the Western Hemisphere, and the Pacific. Rather, the Bush Jr. administration's foreign policy constitutes ongoing criminal activity under well-recognized principles of both international law and US domestic law, in particular the Nuremberg Charter, the Nuremberg Judgment, and the Nuremberg Principles. So their obliteration of Fallujah was to be expected.

If it is not restrained by all nonviolent means possible, the Bush Jr. administration could very well precipitate a Third World War.

One generation ago the peoples of the world asked themselves: Where were the "good" Germans? Well, there were some good Germans. The Lutheran theologian and pastor Dietrich Bonhoeffer was the foremost exemplar of someone who led a life of principled opposition to the Nazi-terror state even unto death.

Today the peoples of the world are likewise asking themselves: Where are the "good" Americans? Well, there are some good Americans. Like three Catholic nuns in Denver, they are getting arrested and going to jail for protesting against United States weapons of mass destruction (WMD) whose power for human extermination far exceeds even the wildest fantasies of Hitler and the Nazis. Or else for protesting against illegal US military interventions around the world. Just recently the Nuclear Resister estimated that since the Fall of 2002, there have been more than 9,500 anti-war related arrests in the United States alone. Many more will be coming.

In international legal terms, the Bush Jr. administration itself should now be viewed as constituting an ongoing criminal conspiracy under international criminal law in violation of the Nuremberg Charter, the Nuremberg Judgment, and the Nuremberg Principles, due to its formulation and undertaking of aggressive war policies that are legally akin to those perpetrated by the Nazi regime. As a consequence, American citizens possess the basic right under international law and the United States domestic law, including the US Constitution, to engage in acts of non-violent civil resistance in order to prevent, impede, thwart, or terminate ongoing criminal activities perpetrated by US government officials in their conduct of foreign affairs policies and military operations purported to relate to defense and counter-terrorism.

It is time once again to exercise People Power here in the United States of America: "When in the Course of human Events...We hold these Truths to be self-evident....we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes, and sacred Honor."

This same right of civil resistance extends pari passu to all citizens of the world community of states. Everyone around the world has both the right and the duty under international law to resist ongoing criminal activities perpetrated by the Bush Jr. administration and its nefarious foreign accomplices such as Blair, Berlusconi, Howard, Koizumi, Kwasniewski, etc. by all non-violent means possible. If it is not so restrained, the Bush Jr. administration could very well precipitate a Third World War.

The time for preventive action is now. Civil resistance is the way to go. People power can overcome power politics. Popular movements have succeeded in toppling tyrannical, dictatorial and authoritarian regimes throughout former Communist countries in Eastern Europe, as well as in Asia, and most recently in Latin America. It is time once again to exercise People Power here in the United States of America: "When in the Course of human Events...We hold these Truths to be self-evident....we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes, and sacred Honor."

Despite the best efforts by the Bush Jr. Leaguers to the contrary, we American Citizens still have our First Amendment Rights: Freedom of Speech, Freedom of Association, Freedom of Assembly, Freedom to Petition our Government for the Redress of these massive Grievances, Civil Resistance, etc. We are going to have to start vigorously exercising all of our First Amendment Rights right now. We must use them or else, as the saying goes, we will lose them. We must act not only for the good of the Peoples of Southwest Asia, but for our future, that of our children, that of our nation as a democratic society committed to the Rule of Law and the U. Constitution. The Nazis had their "homeland" too.

Depleted uranium: Dirty bombs, dirty missiles, dirty bullets

A death sentence here and abroad

by Leuren Moret

At an April press conference, a group of New York Army National Guard vets raised their hands when asked if they have health problems. The soldiers, all from the 442nd Military Police Company, are complaining of headaches and fatigue after what they think is exposure to depleted uranium during their recent tour in Iraq.

"Military men are just dumb stupid animals to be used as pawns in foreign policy." - Henry Kissinger, quoted in "Kiss the Boys Goodbye: How the United States Betrayed Its Own POW's in Vietnam"

Vietnam was a chemical war for oil, permanently contaminating large regions and countries downriver with Agent Orange, and environmentally the most devastating war in world history. But since 1991, the U.S. has staged four nuclear wars using depleted uranium weaponry, which, like Agent Orange, meets the U.S. government definition of Weapons of Mass Destruction. Vast regions in the Middle East and Central Asia have been permanently contaminated with radiation.

And what about our soldiers? Terry Jemison of the Department of Veterans Affairs reported this week to the American Free Press that "Gulf-era veterans" now on medical disability since 1991 number 518,739, with only 7,035 reported wounded in Iraq in that same 14-year period.

This week the American Free Press dropped a "dirty bomb" on the Pentagon by reporting that eight out of 20 men who served in one unit in the 2003 U.S. military offensive in Iraq now have malignancies. That means that 40 percent of the soldiers in that unit have developed malignancies in just 16 months.

Since these soldiers were exposed to vaccines and depleted uranium (DU) only, this is strong evidence for researchers and scientists working on this issue, that DU is the definitive cause of Gulf War Syndrome. Vaccines are not known to cause cancer. One of the first published researchers on Gulf War Syndrome, who also served in 1991 in Iraq, Dr. Andras Korényi-Both, is in agreement with Barbara Goodno from the Department of Defense's Deployment Health Support Directorate, that in this war soldiers were not exposed to chemicals, pesticides, bioagents or other suspect causes this time to confuse the issue.

This powerful new evidence is blowing holes in the cover-up perpetrated by the Pentagon and three presidential administrations ever since DU was first used in 1991 in the Persian Gulf War. Fourteen years after the introduction of DU on the battlefield in 1991, the long-term effects have revealed that DU is a death sentence and very nasty stuff.

Scientists studying the biological effects of uranium in the 1960s reported that it targets the DNA. Marion Fulk, a nuclear physical chemist retired from the Livermore Nuclear Weapons Lab and formerly involved with the Manhattan Project, interprets the new and rapid malignancies in soldiers from the 2003 war as "spectacular — and a matter of concern."

This evidence shows that of the three effects which DU has on biological systems - radiation, chemical and particulate - the particulate effect from nano-size particles is the most dominant one immediately after exposure and targets the Master Code in the DNA. This is bad news, but it explains why DU causes a myriad of diseases which are difficult to define.

In simple words, DU "trashes the body." When asked if the main purpose for using it was for destroying things and killing people, Fulk was more specific: "I would say that it is the perfect weapon for killing lots of people."

Soldiers developing malignancies so quickly since 2003 can be expected to develop multiple cancers from independent causes. This phenomenon has been reported by doctors in hospitals treating civilians following NATO bombing with DU in Yugoslavia in 1998-1999 and the U.S. military invasion of Iraq using DU for the first time in 1991. Medical experts report that this phenomenon of multiple malignancies from unrelated causes has been unknown until now and is a new syndrome associated with internal DU exposure.

Just 467 U.S. personnel were wounded in the three-week Persian Gulf War in 1990-1991. Out of 580,400 soldiers who served in Gulf War I, 11,000 are dead, and by 2000 there were 325,000 on permanent medical disability. This astounding number of disabled vets means that a decade later, 56 percent of those soldiers who served now have medical problems.

The number of disabled vets reported up to 2000 has been increasing by 43,000 every year. Brad Flohr of the Department of Veterans Affairs told American Free Press that he believes there are more disabled vets now than even after World War II.

They brought it home

Not only were soldiers exposed to DU on and off the battlefields, but they brought it home. DU in the semen of soldiers internally contaminated their wives, partners and girlfriends. Tragically, some women in their 20s and 30s who were sexual partners of exposed soldiers developed endometriosis and were forced to have hysterectomies because of health problems.

In a group of 251 soldiers from a study group in Mississippi who had all had normal babies before the Gulf War, 67 percent of their post-war babies were born with severe birth defects. They were born with missing legs, arms, organs or eyes or had immune system and blood diseases. In some veterans‚ families now, the only normal or healthy members of the family are the children born before the war.

The Department of Veterans Affairs has stated that they do not keep records of birth defects occurring in families of veterans.

How did they hide it?

Before a new weapons system can be used, it must be fully tested. The blueprint for depleted uranium weapons is a 1943 declassified document from the Manhattan Project.

Harvard President and physicist James B. Conant, who developed poison gas in World War I, was brought into the Manhattan Project by the father of presidential candidate John Kerry. Kerry's father served at a high level in the Manhattan Project and was a CIA agent.

Conant was chair of the S-1 Poison Gas Committee, which recommended developing poison gas weapons from the radioactive trash of the atomic bomb project in World War II. At that time, it was known that radioactive materials dispersed in bombs from the air, from land vehicles or on the battlefield produced very fine radioactive dust which would penetrate all protective clothing, any gas mask or filter or the skin. By contaminating the lungs and blood, it could kill or cause illness very quickly.

They also recommended it as a permanent terrain contaminant, which could be used to destroy populations by contaminating water supplies and agricultural land with the radioactive dust.

The first DU weapons system was developed for the Navy in 1968, and DU weapons were given to and used by Israel in 1973 under U.S. supervision in the Yom Kippur war against the Arabs.

The Phalanx weapons system, using DU, was tested on the USS Bigelow out of Hunters Point Naval Shipyard in 1977, and DU weapons have been sold by the U.S. to 29 countries.

Military research report summaries detail the testing of DU from 1974-1999 at military testing grounds, bombing and gunnery ranges and at civilian labs under contract. Today 42 states are contaminated with DU from manufacture, testing and deployment.

Women living around these facilities have reported increases in endometriosis, birth defects in babies, leukemia in children and cancers and other diseases in adults. Thousands of tons of DU weapons tested for decades by the Navy on four bombing and gunnery ranges around Fallon, Nevada, is no doubt the cause of the fastest growing leukemia cluster in the U.S. over the past decade. The military denies that DU is the cause.

The medical profession has been active in the cover-up - just as they were in hiding the effects from the American public - of low level radiation from atmospheric testing and nuclear power plants. A medical doctor in Northern California reported being trained by the Pentagon with other doctors, months before the 2003 war started, to diagnose and treat soldiers returning from the 2003 war for mental problems only.

Medical professionals in hospitals and facilities treating returning soldiers were threatened with $10,000 fines if they talked about the soldiers or their medical problems. They were also threatened with jail.

Reporters have also been prevented access to more than 14,000 medically evacuated soldiers flown nightly since the 2003 war in C-150s from Germany who are brought to Walter Reed Hospital near Washington, D.C.

Dr. Robert Gould, former president of the Bay Area chapter of Physicians for Social Responsibility (PSR), has contacted three medical doctors since February 2004, after I had been invited to speak about DU. Dr. Katharine Thomasson, president of the Oregon chapter of the PSR, informed me that Dr. Gould had contacted her and tried to convince her to cancel her invitation for me to speak about DU at Portland State University on April 12. Although I was able to do a presentation, Dr. Thomasson told me I could only talk about DU in Oregon "and nothing overseas — nothing political."

Dr. Gould also contacted and discouraged Dr. Ross Wilcox in Toronto, Canada, from inviting me to speak to Physicians for Global Survival (PGS), the Canadian equivalent of PSR, several months later. When that didn‚t work, he contacted Dr. Allan Connoly, the Canadian national president of PGS, who was able to cancel my invitation and nearly succeeded in preventing Dr. Wilcox, his own member, from showing photos and presenting details on civilians suffering from DU exposure and cancer provided to him by doctors in southern Iraq.

Dr. Janette Sherman, a former and long-standing member of PSR, reported that she finally quit some time after being invited to lunch by a new PSR executive administrator. After the woman had pumped Dr. Sherman for information all through lunch about her position on key issues, the woman informed Dr. Sherman that her last job had been with the CIA.

How was the truth about DU hidden from military personnel serving in successive DU wars? Before his tragic death, Sen. Paul Wellstone informed Joyce Riley, R.N., B.S.N., executive director of the American Gulf War Veterans Association, that 95 percent of Gulf War veterans had been recycled out of the military by 1995. Any of those continuing in military service were isolated from each other, preventing critical information being transferred to new troops. The "next DU war" had already been planned, and those planning it wanted "no skunk at the garden party."

The US has a dirty (DU) little (CIA) secret

A new book just published at the American Free Press by Michael Collins Piper, "The High Priests of War: The Secret History of How America's Neo-Conservative Trotskyites Came to Power and Orchestrated the War Against Iraq as the First Step in Their Drive for Global Empire," details the early plans for a war against the Arab world by Henry Kissinger and the neo-cons in the late 1960s and early 1970s. That just happens to coincide with getting the DU "show on the road" and the oil crisis in the Middle East, which caused concern not only to President Nixon. The British had been plotting and scheming for control of the oil in Iraq for decades since first using poison gas on the Iraqis and Kurds in 1912.

The book details the creation of the neo-cons by their "godfather" and Trotsky lover Irving Kristol, who pushed for a "war against terrorism" long before 9/11 and was lavishly funded for years by the CIA. His son, William Kristol, is one of the most influential men in the United States.

Both are public relations men for the Israeli lobby's neo-conservative network, with strong ties to Rupert Murdoch. Kissinger also has ties to this network and the Carlyle Group, who, one could say, have facilitated these omnicidal wars beginning from the time former President Bush took office. It would be easy to say that we are recycling World Wars I and II, with the same faces.

When I asked Vietnam Special Ops Green Beret Capt. John McCarthy, who could have devised this omnicidal plan to use DU to destroy the genetic code and genetic future of large populations of Arabs and Moslems in the Middle East and Central Asia - just coincidentally the areas where most of the world's oil deposits are located - he replied: "It has all the handprints of Henry Kissinger."

In Zbignew Brzezinski's book "The Grand Chessboard: American Primacy and Its Geostrategic Imperatives," the map of the Eurasian chessboard includes four regions strategic to U.S. foreign policy. The "South" region corresponds precisely to the regions now contaminated permanently with radiation from U.S. bombs, missiles and bullets made with thousands of tons of DU.

A Japanese professor, Dr. K. Yagasaki, has calculated that 800 tons of DU is the atomicity equivalent of 83,000 Nagasaki bombs. The U.S. has used more DU since 1991 than the atomicity equivalent of 400,000 Nagasaki bombs. Four nuclear wars indeed, and 10 times the amount of radiation released into the atmosphere from atmospheric testing!

No wonder our soldiers, their families and the people of the Middle East, Yugoslavia and Central Asia are sick. But as Henry Kissinger said after Vietnam when our soldiers came home ill from Agent Orange, "Military men are just dumb stupid animals to be used for foreign policy."

Unfortunately, more and more of those soldiers are men and women with brown skin. And unfortunately, the DU radioactive dust will be carried around the world and deposited in our environments just as the "smog of war" from the 1991 Gulf War was found in deposits in South America, the Himalayas and Hawaii.

In June 2003, the World Health Organization announced in a press release that global cancer rates will increase 50 percent by 2020. What else do they know that they aren't telling us? I know that depleted uranium is a death sentence — for all of us. We will all die in silent ways.

Conspiracy Too Monstrous To Conceive

By Henry Makow Ph.D.

June 08, 2003

"The individual is handicapped by coming face-to-face with a conspiracy so monstrous he cannot believe it exists."

- J. Edgar Hoover

The world is in the malignant grip of a satanic cult.

People recoil at the suggestion but proof stares us in the face every day.

George W. Bush, President of the "Free World" is a member of "Skull and Bones" a chapter of the Illuminati order. His father, grandfather and uncle are also members.

In his autobiography, "A Charge to Keep" Bush writes, "My senior year I joined Skull and Bones, a secret society so secret I can't say anything more." In Aug. 2000 he said his "heritage is part of who I am." (

Isn't this a conflict of interest?

Hello! Can a man hold any public office, let alone the most important, and belong to a "secret society"? If this society were benign, would it have to be secret?

What a secret society it is! The Illuminati is the hidden hand behind all modern cataclysms, including the French and Russian Revolutions, Communism, the Depression and Nazism. To affect the course of history only takes money. The people behind the Illuminati have plenty.

It's time we faced reality. Murphy's Law applies to humanity. "If it can go wrong, it will."

It has. The world is ruled by a satanic cult.

The Illuminati originates in the Jewish Kabala, Babylonian mystery cults, the Templars, Freemasons and assorted interests dedicated to Satan worship and absolute power. On May 1 1776, Adam Weishaupt, a professor at the University of Inglestadt in Germany, founded "The Order of the Illuminati." Many people believe Weishaupt was sponsored by Prince William of Hesse Casel and his banker Meyer Amschel Rothschild, the wealthiest man in the world.

The Illuminati's goal was to destroy Western Civilization and to erect a new world order ruled by them. Its method was to dissolve all social ties (employer, nation, religion, race, family) by exploiting social discontent and promising a golden age of "human brotherhood." This is now called "globalization."

Attracted by the promise of power and change, people served without realizing who or what they were supporting. Weishaupt urged his followers to "practise the art of counterfeit." New recruits were told the Illuminati expressed the original spirit of Christianity. Weishaupt marvelled that even churchmen could be gulled. "Oh! Men, of what cannot you be persuaded?" (Nesta Webster, World Revolution, 1921, p. 27)

The Illuminati had a hand in every so-called "progressive" movement of the past 200 years. Women, said Weishaupt, were to be enlisted with "hints of emancipation." They "can all be led toward change by vanity, curiosity, sensuality and inclination." (Webster, 29)

William Huntington, an American who had studied in Germany, founded the "Skull and Bones" (Chapter 322 of the Bavarian Illuminati) at Yale University in 1832. The members wore a death's head on their chests and were sworn to secrecy on pain of death. "The Order" became the preserve of the leading New England families, many wealthy from the Opium trade. These include the Whitneys, Tafts, Buckleys, Lowells, Sloans, Coffins, and Harrimans. The Bush family was dependent on these interests.

For over 150 years, "Bonesmen" have run the world from positions in banking, intelligence, media, law and government. Members included Presidential handler Averell Harriman, anti war leader William Sloan Coffin, Time-Life magnate Henry Luce, Truman war secretary Henry Stimson (responsible for dropping the atomic bomb), pseudo conservative William F. Buckley and many more.

In the 1960's British-born Dr. Anthony Sutton was a Fellow at Stanford's Hoover Institute when he discovered that, in spite of the Cold War, the US was supplying the USSR with its technology, including weapons used against American soldiers in Vietnam. Sutton dug deeper and discovered that Wall Street had sponsored both the Bolshevik Revolution and the rise of Nazi Germany. The resulting books which are on line ( cost Dr. Sutton his academic career.

In 1983, Dr. Sutton received a list of Skull and Bones members and immediately recognized the names of many men who controlled American policy. He published a book entitled "America's Secret Establishment: An Introduction to the Order of Skull and Bones" (1986). He updated and republished this book ( just before his death last June at age 77. Here are some of his conclusions.

* "The Order" is " a purely American phenomenon with German origin." Dr. Sutton compares it to the Round Table, Cecil Rhodes' secret society at Oxford also known as "The Group." The American and British entities consist of 20-30 dynastic families each. Jewish banking interests connect them.

"The links between 'The Order' and Britain go through Lazard Freres and the private merchant banks... 'The Group' links to the Jewish equivalent through the Rothschilds in Britain... 'The Order' in the US links to the Guggenheim, Schiff and Warburg families." (23)

As Dr. Sutton notes, the "Order" had definite anti Semitic tendencies but by the 1960's, many Jewish names started to appear among the 15 annual inductees. See list of Skull and Bones members at .

* Dr. Sutton believes the "left" versus "right" split is fraudulent and used to control the debate and condition citizens to think along certain lines. Left-wing magazines like the "The Nation" and "The New Republic" and right-wing magazines like "The National Review were "artificially set up." The former were financed by Whitney money while the latter by Buckley. Both are "The Order."

Dr. Sutton states: "Sooner or later people will wake up. First we have to dump the trap of right and left. This is a Hegelian trap to divide and control. The battle is not between right and left; it is between us and them." (

Similarly, in the international field left and right political structures are artificially constructed and collapsed in the drive for one-world synthesis, i.e. authoritarian socialism controlled by monopoly capital.

College textbooks present war and revolution as accidental results of conflicting forces. This is nonsense, says Dr. Sutton. They are created and financed by Wall Street to create a new world order. But you won't read this in history books.

"Our Western history is every bit as distorted, censored and largely useless as that of Hitler's Germany or the Soviet Union or Communist China..." (122)

* Dr. Sutton believes The Order has many weaknesses resulting from an inbred gene pool, a shallow power base and a limited worldview. In any future conflict between the authoritarian state and the individual, he believes opposition will take "a million forms."

" No one is going to create the anti-The Order movement. That would be foolish and unnecessary. It could be infiltrated, bought off, or diverted all too easily. Why play by the rules set by the enemy?

The movement that will topple The Order will be extremely simple and most effective. It will be ten thousand or a million Americans who come to the conclusion that they don't want the State to be boss, that they prefer to live under the protection of the Constitution. They will make their own independent decision to thwart The Order and it will take ten thousand or a million forms." (55)

Bizarre as it sounds, our world is the product of a multi generational satanic conspiracy.
(Believe me I would give everything I own to be wrong.)

When we compare this disturbing conclusion with the comforting picture purveyed by Illuminati controlled-mass media and education, we experience "cognitive dissonance," or psychological stress. This is usually resolved by evading reality, dismissing it as "conspiracy theory."

One reader, stirring in his sleep, wrote: "You sir are T-TOTALLY the biggest story teller I have ever heard. If I ever get really bored I will read some of your concockions."

In fact, conspiracy is very plausible. People who control a grossly disproportionate share of the world's wealth will take measures to consolidate their position. They will destabilize the public by inciting a series of wars and other mind-boggling hoaxes (communism, lesbian feminism, multiculturalism). They will subvert faith in a loving God and promote violence and depravity (Satan) instead.

The government-inspired 9-11 atrocity ( proves a satanic cult controls the US. Bush and his accomplices are criminals, traitors and impostors. But don't look to the Democrats for salvation. Leading contender Sen. John Kerry is also Skull and Bones (Class of 1966.)

The "War on Terror" is obviously designed to forestall domestic opposition and condition people to further subjugation and new world order. What can we do?

Antony Sutton had it right when he said opposition should be individual in character. It should "take ten thousand or a million forms."

Newsflash, everybody: we are in the midst of a major Constitutional Crisis! Don't count on the media to let you know about it, however...

This is SERIOUS!

Most of us have been aware of some, or most of this information, but I don't think the full implication of that knowledge has ever sunk in totally. It's a tremendous amount to try and grasp, and will take a few days to digest, at the very least. I suspect that most of us underestimated the power of these folks, seeing them as being so radical that no one in their right mind would be taken in by their rhetoric. But as you will see, that was a misconception on our part. They have seized control of our legislative and executive bodies, and are now working hard to destroy the judicial, thus destroying the system of checks and balances that were built into our Constitution over 200 years ago. We are on the verge of losing it all!

I have spent the better part of three days working my way through an extensive amount of information provided by Karen Yurica on her website on this topic, with an eye toward finding some excerpts to post for introducing a topic which in my mind absolutely MUST be read by every concerned American - but since Chris has done such a handy job of it, I think I will just forward his article along with links to the reports on the Yurica website (one of them, called "The Despoiling of America" is VERY large and doesn't lend itself well to being posted in an email, it must be read at the website). The looming theocracy: "The Constitution Restoration Act of 2004"

Anyone know the status of this Dominionist piece of legislation?
Here's the theocratic gist ( of it:

AMENDMENT TO TITLE 28- Chapter 81 of title 28, United States Code, is amended by adding at the end the following:

`Sec. 1260. Matters not reviewable
`Notwithstanding any other provision of this chapter, the Supreme Court shall not have jurisdiction to review, by appeal, writ of certiorari, or otherwise, any matter to the extent that relief is sought against an element of Federal, State, or local government, or against an officer of Federal, State, or local government (whether or not acting in official personal capacity), by reason of that element's or officer's acknowledgement of God as the sovereign source of law, liberty, or government.'

Katherine Yurica wrote ( last February that, "Because the judiciary is “an element” of the federal, state and local governments, this wording, if it becomes law, may allow any judge to institute biblical punishments without being subject to review by the Supreme Court or the federal court system."

And Chris Floyd (

The "Constitution Restoration Act of 2004" is no joke; it was introduced last month by some of the Bush Regime's most powerful Congressional sycophants. If enacted, it will effectively transform the American republic into a theocracy, where the arbitrary dictates of a "higher power" -- as interpreted by a judge, policeman, bureaucrat or president -- can override the rule of law.

The Act -- drafted by a minion of television evangelist Pat Robertson -- is the fruit of decades of work by a group of extremists known broadly as "Dominionists." Their openly expressed aim is to establish "biblical rule" over every aspect of society -- placing "the state, the school, the arts and sciences, law, economics, and every other sphere under Christ the King." Or as Attorney General John Ashcroft -- the nation's chief law enforcement officer -- has often proclaimed: "America has no king but Jesus!"

One of the chief moneybags behind the rise of Dominionism was tycoon Harold Ahmanson, Rushdoony's protege and fellow CNP member. In addition to establishing theocracy in America, Ahmanson has another abiding interest: computerized voting machines. As reported here last year, Ahmanson, a fervent Bush backer, was instrumental in establishing two of the Republican-controlled companies now rushing to install their highly hackable machines -- with untraceable, unrecountable electronic ballots -- across the country in time for the November election.

Put this juggernaut at the service of democracy-hating extremists with no legal restraints o-n their enforcement of "God's sovereign authority" -- plus a proven track record of subverting the law to gain political power -- and what would you have? A mullah state? A military theocracy?

That is scary.
Petrifying in fact.
While I do not understand all the implications of this, does this essentially remove from the courts any act by any federal entity if they make decisions based on their religion?
So in other words, they can deny someone benefits or any other federal service based solely on the fact that this person is not a Christian?

I went and looked it up.
Apparently it is currently in "Subcommittee Hearings". This bill scares me. Thanks for posting about this here. I am going to write to my representatives ASAP about this one.

It is impossible to make sense of the political ambitions of the religious right without understanding the information revealed in the articles below. It is NOT just about Christians voting their values. Most Christians, if given the complete information and time to reflect, would reject this agenda.
Mainstream and even some Fundamentalist Christians have been deceived and are being used to promote this agenda. Even true Fundamentalist Christians would not support this program if they understood it, because it is contrary to the teachings of Jesus Christ. The rise to political power of the Evangelical right is not just an unfortunate coincidence or even a spontaneous popular movement. It is a well planned, well executed power-grab with a very disturbing agenda.

Dominion Theology is deadly serious

Thanks for keeping this issue in focus.
It is of utmost importance for those who claim any religious affinity to be very clear about this movement. It has had nearly 30 years to develop strategy for action, influence and destruction.

R.J.Rushdoony says it best: "The church today has fallen prey to the heresy of democracy." from The Institutes of Biblical Law (Nutley, NJ, Craig Press, 1973, p. 747).
Take some time to discover who the Dominionists are and who they support - already elected and appointed leaders! The following sites bear repeating:

Christian Conservatives Say They Gave Bush 'Moral Mandate'; Call Him to Acton Their Behalf
- Among some conservative Christians, there is a belief that President Bushreceived a "moral mandate" to win the recent presidential election - andthey are calling on him act on their agenda now. "I believe Our Lordelected our president and I believe he put him in office and it is myprayer that he will sustain him in office," said one woman at the CoralRidge Presbyterian Church in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Another was asked if she believed that God intervened in the election."Absolutely," she said. "Values" voters delivered for the president, andthe president must now deliver for them - especially in the courts, saidGary Cass, head of a grassroots political organization affiliated with Coral Ridge, called the Center for Reclaiming America. "It's about the next 40 years and how the courts are going to affect the world in which mychildren and grandchildren are going to be raised in," he said. Cass wants a U.S. Supreme Court that will outlaw abortion and gay marriage."Do you want to take your children to a National League baseball game forinstance and have homosexuals showing affection to one another? I don'twant my kids to see that," he said. By one measure, conservative Christians comprised 12 percent of theelectorate this year - the same as four years ago. But they seethemselves as a crucial piece of the president's political base. Theybelieve that if their agenda is not implemented quickly - if theirconcerns are not addressed in a timely fashion - God will be angry.

'Smart Dust' May Soon Be Watching You...

November 21, 2004

It's a project first dreamed up by the military to get information from the battlefield.

They call it "Smart Dust" and it may soon make it possible to keep track of anything, anywhere, including you.

At Crossbow Technology in Santa Clara, Calif, the next big thing is actually quite small.

They are the world's smallest wireless sensors. And at about the size of a wristwatch, they contain a battery powered microphone, an accelerometer, as well as temperature and humidity sensors, according to Sam Godwin, Vice President of Crossbow.

Scatter them 250 feet apart and they will form their own wireless network similar to a spider's web.

Smart Dust was first designed for the military, enabling troops to crop dust enemy lines with of millions of networked wireless sensors too small to see and too numerous to destroy.

They can be used to track enemy troops or where a gunshot is coming from.

Through a contract with the Pentagon, researchers invented Smart Dust at the University of California in the late 1990s.

"I coined the name Smart Dust to describe where all this was headed," said Kris Pister, chief technology officer for Dust Networks.

Pister said an initial prototype as small as a grain of rice was able to sense, think, talk and listen.

Smart Dust has enormous potential to improve lives. It can offer a high-tech inexpensive way to monitor a pipeline in Auburn, securing the perimeters at the Purdy jail, monitoring the nuclear power plant in Hanford or sensing vibration on Tacoma Narrows bridge, even monitor children at day care centers.

But privacy experts warn Smart Dust has a potential dark side. Imagine living in a city coated with wireless sensors. In the futuristic movie "Minority Report," even billboards seemed to know the identity of people passing by.

Something like Smart Dust is already on the way even closer to home. Radio frequency ID chips, RFID, may soon be in driver's licenses and passports, even consumer items like clothes.

"And these chips can be read without your knowledge. And by reading them people can get a unique number which means you can be tracked using them," said Kevin Bankston, with the Electronic Frontier Foundation.

And guess what? RFID can be read by Smart Dust. "That is a concern," says Godwin.

Not just the government, but businesses could trade information about where you are, what you are wearing, what you eat and where you shop.

"This is like when you are walking around, someone is following you everywhere you go and writing it down and storing it and probably selling it to someone," Bankston says.

But some argue most of it is already possible because of credit card records, cell phone logs, security cards.

"If you think it is going to enable people to invade privacy in ways they haven't been able to do before, that is not true," says Pister.

A Smart Dust coated world may still be a few years away.

But it's possible for an invention that could save us from pipeline accidents and keep our children safe, to also put Big Brother on every building, door and window ledge.

Canadian protesters target Bush

From correspondents in Ottawa, Canada

December 1, 2004

HOLDING up signs calling US President George W. Bush a "war criminal" and "liar", a few thousand demonstrators rallied in the Canadian capital today to protest his visit, the US-led war in Iraq and a host of other issues.

Organisers said about 5000 people, many of whom rode buses overnight from across Ontario and Quebec, held a rally at Ottawa's City Hall before a planned march on Canada's Parliament buildings. Police put the figure at between 2500 to 3000.

Making his first official visit to Canada, Mr Bush arrived today for talks with Prime Minister Paul Martin.

Mr Bush was welcomed by many placards and signs along his motorcade route, including a truck parked nearby that was emblazoned with the phrase "Bush is a war criminal". Another placard branded him an "assassin".

Much of the anger seemed focused on Mr Bush's decision to invade Iraq. Canada decided against sending troops to Iraq - a decision supported by more than 80 per cent of Canadians.

"Canada is not against America. We're totally against Bush," explained Fredric White, a 40-year-old who works for an entertainment company, who stood by the Parliament building as the president's motorcade arrived.

"He's arrogant and ignorant. We totally disdain his policies on the war and his treatment of the UN," Mr White said. "The administration has an imperialist attitude where he thinks he can take over countries by bombing them."

One group, the Toronto Coalition to Stop the War, planned to roll out a so-called "unwelcome mat" for Mr Bush - a giant carpet-turned-protest-sign.

Protesters also voiced disapproval over trade issues and US efforts to get Canada involved in the continental missile defence shield.

Christy Ferguson, a 27-year-old activist with Greenpeace, held a large banner saying "Stop Star Wars".

"We think Canada shouldn't even be talking to the US about missile defence because it's driving nuclear proliferation around the world," she said.

Mr Martin has promised an open debate in the House of Commons on whether Canada should take part in the defence program. Polls show a majority of Canadians are against joining the system, calling it destabilising and a misguided effort to put weapons in space.

An Ipsos-Reid/CTV poll released overnight shows 58 per cent of Canadians think Mr Bush's re-election was a "bad thing", while 26 per cent believed it was good. The poll surveyed 1000 Canadians and had an margin of error of 3.1 percentage points.

Joe Cressy, an organiser for the anti-Bush rally and a student at Carlton University in Ottawa, called the protests a "direct communication link to Bush" - but also "a message to our prime minister that he should not support Bush's policies".

Gathered at the City Hall rally, Lawrence Wueft, a 60-year-old sculptor from the eastern province of New Brunswick held up a banner made from a bed sheet that read: "Bush, go home. Keep your bloody hands off Canada".

"Bush, you're involved in an illegal war. Don't involve Canada in that illegal war," he said.

Pentagon experts have made a discovery: Muslims do not hate America's freedoms, but its policies

Sidney Blumenthal

December 2, 2004

The Guardian

Who wrote this - a pop sociologist, obscure blogger or anti-war playwright? "Muslims see Americans as strangely narcissistic - namely, that the war is all about us. As the Muslims see it, everything about the war is - for Americans - really no more than an extension of American domestic politics and its great game. This perception is ... heightened by election-year atmospherics, but none the less sustains their impression that when Americans talk to Muslims, they are talking to themselves."

Actually, this is the conclusion of the report of the defence science board taskforce on strategic communication - the product of a Pentagon advisory panel - delivered in September. Its 102 pages were not made public in the presidential campaign, but, barely noticed by the US press, silently slipped on to a Pentagon website on Thanksgiving eve.

The taskforce of military, diplomatic, academic and business experts, assigned to develop strategy for communications in the "global war on terrorism", had unfettered access, denied to journalists, to the inner workings of the national security apparatus. There was no intent to contribute to public debate, much less political controversy; the report was for internal consumption only.

They discovered more than a government sector "in crisis", though it found that: "Missing are strong leadership, strategic direction, adequate coordination, sufficient resources, and a culture of measurement and evaluation." As it journeyed into the recesses of the Bush foreign policy, the taskforce documented the failure of fundamental premises. "America's negative image in world opinion and diminished ability to persuade are consequences of factors other than the failure to implement communications strategies," the report declares. What emerges is an indictment of an expanding and unmitigated disaster based on stubborn ignorance of the world and failed concepts that bear little relation to empirical reality, except insofar as they confirm and incite gathering hatred among Muslims.

The Bush administration, according to the defence science board, has misconceived a war on terrorism in the image of the cold war. However, the struggle is not the west versus Islam; while we blindly call this a "war on terrorism", Muslims "in contrast see a history-shaking movement of Islamic restoration" against "apostate" Arab regimes allied with the US and "western modernity - an agenda hidden within the official rubric of a 'war on terrorism'".

In this conflict, "wholly unlike the cold war", the Bush administration's impulse has been to "imitate the routines and bureaucratic ... mindset that so characterised that era". So the US projects Iraqis and other Arabs as people to be liberated, like those "oppressed by Soviet rule". And the US accepts authoritarian Arab regimes as allies against the "radical fighters". All this is nothing less than a gigantic "strategic mistake".

"There is no yearning-to-be-liberated-by-the-US groundswell among Muslim societies - except to be liberated perhaps from what they see as apostate tyrannies that the US so determinedly promotes and defends." Rhetoric about freedom is received as "no more than self-serving hypocrisy", highlighted daily by the US occupation in Iraq. "Muslims do not 'hate our freedom', but rather they hate our policies." The "dramatic narrative ... of the war on terrorism", Bush's grand storyline connecting all the dots from the World Trade Centre to Baghdad, has "borne out the entire radical Islamist bill of particulars". As a result, jihadists have been able to transform them selves from marginal figures in the Muslim world into defenders against invasion, with a following of millions.

"Thus the critical problem in American public diplomacy directed toward the Muslim world is not one of 'dissemination of information', or even one of crafting and delivering the 'right' message. Rather, it is a fundamental problem of credibility. Simply, there is none - the United States is without a working channel of communication to the world of Muslims ... Inevitably, therefore, whatever Americans do and say only serves the party that has both the message and the 'loud and clear' channel: the enemy."

Almost three months ago, the board delivered its report to the White House. But, a source told me, it has received no word back. The report has been ignored by those to whom its recommendations are directed.

For the Bush administration, expert analysis is extraneous, as it is making clear to national security professionals in its partisan scapegoating of the CIA. Experts can only be expert in telling the White House what it wants to hear. Expertise is valued not for the evidence it offers for correction, but for propaganda and validation. But no one, not in the White House, Congress or the dwindling coalition of the willing, can claim the catastrophe has not been foretold by the best and most objective minds commissioned by the Pentagon - perhaps for the last time.
