The Transition Years of Magic and Wonder

With this Major Festival Period of 2005, centred around the Wesak (Taurus) Full Moon on April/24, humanity stands on the cusp of perhaps the most extraordinary years of its long evolutionary history.
For many generations, students of scriptures and prophecy have anticipated this very year as the year commencing seven years of transition from the old age to the New Age.
Over a thousand years ago, the Mayans calculated that on 21/October/2012, there would be an astronomical alignment of our sun with the centre of the Milky Way. This will culminate in the northern winter solstice of 21/December/2012, the time the Mayans consider as the end of the old age and time of entry into a New Age. The date 21/December/2012 refers not to any particular event impacting upon the level of Earth at that time, but rather to a shift in subtle and exceedingly potent subjective energies. These energies directly affect evolution upon the physical level, but there may be a time lag or difference, depending upon humanity’s level of receptivity to the new energies. Hence the date 21/December/2012 must be considered as an approximate time of transition.
This transition period into the New Age is also mentioned on many occasions in the Christian scriptures, especially in the Gospels and the Book of Revelation. In the Book of Revelation, this moment of transition, in which “the door where evil dwells is closed” is preceded by seven years of tribulation. Though the Biblical scriptures frequently focus upon the negative suffering aspect, the greater reality is that during these seven transition years, there will be a powerful release of Cosmic Power impacting strongly upon the physical level of Earth, breaking down the old forms that have served their purpose, and infusing the forms for the New Age with Life sufficient to build the new structures.
If we take seven years to the year 2012, then the commencement of the seven years of transition must commence in the year 2005. As the Full Moons of Aries (Easter), Taurus (Wesak) and Gemini (Festival of Goodwill) represent the annual spiritual high point, then it is during this Major Festival Period of 2005, and especially at the time of Wesak 2005, that the true release of Cosmic Power will commence its most profound impact.
In the book of Revelations, this seven years of “tribulation” is broken down into two periods of 42 months each period.
The first 42 months is a period of lesser tribulations and rising global tension.
“(the Gentiles) will trample on the holy city for 42 months. And I will give power to my two witnesses and they will prophesy for 1,260 days, clothed in sackcloth.” (Rev 11: 2-3)
The second 42 months is a period in which the beast (the devil or Satan) is released upon the world, aided by a false prophet “and there was war in heaven” (Rev 12:7). This is the period of the greater tribulation. “The beast was given a mouth to utter proud words and blasphemies and to exercise his authority for forty-two months. He opened his mouth to blaspheme God, and to slander his name and his dwelling place and those who live in heaven. He was given power to make war against the saints and to conquer them.” (Rev 13:5-7)
This second period of greater tribulation is also mentioned in the book of Daniel: “From the time that the daily sacrifice is abolished and the abomination that causes desolation is set up, there will be 1,290 days. Blessed is the one who waits for and reaches the end of the 1,335 days.”
It is an intuitive step in faith to connect the Mayan and Biblical prophecies in this way. Many students of scripture have done so, and I feel also the impression of powerful and transformative energies during this Major Festival period.
Is it mere coincidence also that the conclave of Roman Catholic cardinals will be meeting to elect a new Pope right at the time of the Wesak Full Moon, the occasion inaugurating the seven years of transition? St Malachy, an Irishman born in 1094 and canonised by Pope Clement III in 1199, undertook to list in advance the proper succession of Roman pontiffs from Celestine II to “the end of the world”. St Malachy prophesied that there would be 112 Popes after Celestine II. Pope John Paul II, who has just died, is number 110. The coming Pope, number 111, will preside over the period of transition, leading to the time of the final Pope, number 112.
A number of eminent Catholic scholars, including the Jesuit priest Malachi Martin, have prophesied that Pope number 111 will be the “false prophet”, and Pope 112 will not be a legitimate Pope, but rather the Anti-Christ. Malachi Martin predicted a coming apostasy within the Roman Catholic Church, in which Satanists infiltrate the Vatican, and pedophilia and homosexual scandal within the church become rife. This view has gained much sympathy within certain sections of the church, and so it needs to be addressed, for it has the potential to divide the church and cause much damage.
For my part, I advise extreme caution when giving credence to prophecy that finds its emotional appeal through criticisms relating to issues as pedophilia and homosexuality. I present rather a contrary prophecy, on p59 of Destiny of Nations by Alice Bailey;
“The whole field of religion will be re-inspired and re-oriented from Rome because the Master Jesus will again take hold of the Christian Church in an effort to re-spiritualise it and re-organise it. From the chair of the Pope of Rome, the Master Jesus will attempt to swing that great branch of the religious beliefs of the world again into a position of spiritual power and away from its present authoritative and temporary political potency.”
I would ask the reader to ponder what are the true spiritual issues of our time, by what issues will the true Christ presence be known? Are not the greatest spiritual challenges for humanity relating to the principles of sharing and right human relations, and how do we mobilise activity of true compassion amongst the many? With respect to speech and action upon these crucial issues, let us evaluate the performance of the coming Pope.
The Birthing of the New Age
The birth of a baby can be a time of pain, but the overwhelming experience is one of joy and new life. So it is also with the birthing into a New Age. This is a time of the break down and discarding of those forms that had guided the old age, but are no longer appropriate for the new era. Such disintegration of forms is necessarily painful where there is resistance to the change, and attachment to that which has served its purpose and must now pass away. Such pain in transition is largely the result of anxiety, fear and resistance, and so can be largely avoided through right choice.
Here then is the crux of the matter. The pain and suffering we will suffer during this transition time will be the effects of our collective indecision and fear of entering into the new. And yet when the new is embraced gladly and with an open, receptive heart, the transition period can be a time of unsurpassed wonder and magic and joy. It will be a time when humanity collectively is learning the lessons of right relationships and responsibilities sufficient to inherit their destined role of custodians upon Earth of the various kingdoms of nature. It will be a time for humanity of coming into right relationship with divinity.
During the transition period, Cosmic Energy will for the first time be impacting directly and potently upon the physical etheric level of consciousness of humanity. This Cosmic Energy has gradually been releasing for a long time, slowly increasing in its potency of impact, and its effect over the past few generations has been to stimulate the principles of goodwill, unity and right relationship in the minds of awakened humanity. Thus we have witnessed over the past sixty years, the emergence of the goodwill movement and philanthropic organisations. Leading thinkers have explored and found thoughtforms for solution to the many immense problems facing humanity. Such impact has in the past made its major impact upon the mental and emotional levels of human consciousness. However in the past humanity has lacked the collective will to implement these thoughtforms for solution upon the physical level.
But now there is a significant shift. This Cosmic Energy is now impacting directly and potently upon the physical level. The time is come to transform the thoughtforms for solution into actuality upon the plane of Earth. All the causes of humanity’s many strifes are now directly irradiated with divine light. This is not an easy process, as all that which is ugly and has over the ages been festering and remained hidden, must now be lifted up to the surface to be seen clearly for what it is. Only when the ugliness, corruption, selfishness and separativeness has been brought to the surface and seen for what it is, will humanity be able to release it forever and thus make right choice and enter freely into the new.
There is an inevitability and destiny relating to the overall process of emergence into the New Age. The planetary consciousness of Earth itself is in the process of passing through a major initiation into a higher level of consciousness, and all beings upon this planet are subject to the tide of change. And yet as individuals, we each are endowed with free will, and only as we choose willingly to enter into the New Age of shared responsibilities and right relationships will we do so. Before the transition period is over, each individual soul must be confronted with an ultimate choice, between spirit and form. For those souls who choose attachment to form and selfish desires, they will not be permitted to enter into the New Age. Their future path will be along a different evolution in which their desire for experience of form will be strongly nourished, but no longer will they have the vast responsibilities of custodianship which the development of the mind permits. It is the Cosmic Energy being released at this time which is dividing humanity, separating the sheep from the goats, forcing each soul to make that ultimate choice. It is not our concern to ponder where those souls who choose experience in form will go. Our task is rather to flow with the process and assist in the unfoldment of the overall Plan.
Anchoring the Divine Plan Upon Earth
For there is Purpose guiding evolution, and a divine Plan for the unfoldment of the process of emergence of the New Age. The Plan is in the custody of the spiritual Guides for our planet, and we can attune to that Plan when our consciousness is aligned with our soul. That Plan on the level of the soul is perfect, and the need now is to bring that soul consciousness down into the threefold level of the personality immersed within the mental, emotional and physical levels of experience in the world of form.
Every human soul is a cell within the larger body of the Christ, and as we align with our inner soul consciousness, and by the means of our own inner consciousness impress the inner purpose as it is sensed by the soul into the world of form, we help then each in our own small way to implement the divine Plan upon Earth. For it is humanity itself which must anchor the Kingdom of Heaven upon Earth. We must offer ourselves to the overshadowing spiritual essence, to become the hands and feet for the outer emergence of the Plan.
The task of discipleship is to learn to act on the level of soul and thus serve humanity according to our own intuitively recognised understanding of the need in the world. At this time, there is a vast group endeavour to bring down upon Earth a reflection of that divine Plan as it is intuitively sensed through our inner consciousness. Every soul has its own note to sound, and we each must meditate on attuning to that note and then expressing it outwardly in the world of form. And as we do so, a soul will attract around itself its co-workers and co-disciples with whom it will serve in the outer world.
On the inner levels of consciousness, that Plan is complete and perfect, and each of us has a part to play in bringing the overall Plan into outer manifestation. And only as every soul plays its part, will the Plan be completely born into the outer world of human endeavour.
Faith in the perfection of the Plan on inner levels, should help to eliminate the sense of futility that can overtake a disciple when overwhelmed by the vastness of the tasks to be done. It is only as we enter into our soul consciousness, attuning as a cell within the greater body of Christ, that we can release all anxiety, and we are working on the level where we can be impressed and guided by the overshadowing spiritual energies. As we attune subjectively, we receive healing, the training we require and whatever is needed to move forward in our outer activity of world service.
How vital it is therefore to think in terms of unity and synthesis, for on the level of soul there is no separation. All is one, and our consciousness becomes one with the overshadowing Christ consciousness of which we each are a part. As we thus express our soul note upon Earth, we are collectively bringing the body of Christ into manifestation in the outer world. Each of us has a special role to fill and for each need in the outer world, there will be a disciple being trained to respond to that need. It is only when each one of us plays our part, that the New Age will manifest fully in all its perfection and glory.
As we meditate and attune as one with our fellow disciples around the Earth, let us ponder the needs of humanity, and in our heart, discern the pathways for outer action to respond each in our own small way to that need.
This inner group meditation of synthesis has no central outer organisation guiding it. There will be many groups emerging at this time to help students and disciples align subjectively, each in their own way for the pathways of inner approach and outer service are innumerable.
The Crisis Before Humanity
The many problems today facing humanity are of humanity’s own making. As we have created these problems through our selfish and separative choices of the past, it is only we collectively who can restore the balance.
The twentieth century has seen unsurpassed development of the human mind. We now use our minds to penetrate the realms of science and there is not a door that is closed to our inquiry.
Yet the development of the mind has not been paralleled with an equal development of wisdom and a living ethics. Collectively, we have ignored and abused our responsibility as custodians of our beloved planet. We have developed an economic system based upon usury, competition and greed. We have developed weapons of mass destruction, while our world leaders talk of terrorism, adversity and conflict. We have raped nature and the ecosystems of the world are now rapidly collapsing.
In response to the urgent need, we have over the past few generations developed thoughtforms and models for solution. The Charter for the United Nations provides an inspiring model which if lifted up in a spirit of universal goodwill, can lead to peace and prosperity and cooperation for all humanity. We have developed visionary charters and projects, the Declaration and Covenants on Human Rights, Agenda 21, The Earth Summit agenda, plans to restore the eco-balance for humanity and to establish a global sustainable economy.
And yet humanity has failed to implement these visionary projects. The political, ecological and economic systems of the world are breaking down at an extraordinary rate, and humanity collectively is standing on the precipice. Humanity lacks the will to implement those wonderful agendas, projects and visions that our minds have set before us.
Nature itself is beginning to rebel against what we are doing. Extreme weather conditions and natural disasters are occurring at an ever escalating rate. We only need to look at what we are doing to our blessed planet to know that in our arrogance, greed and pride we have failed utterly and our minds are incapable by themselves of finding a solution. Moreover, it seems apparent that it is the turbulence in the mental and emotional state of humanity’s own consciousness which is the causative factor in the extreme weather conditions, for the weather is only reflecting our own inner state of consciousness. Through our collective anxiety and fear, we are simply accentuating the already extreme problems we face.
Manifesting Our Dreams
And yet if people everywhere begin to reflect upon three central issues, the pathway towards peace and manifestation of our dreams will become apparent. These three issues are;

about the world of meaning, of the subjective world and the nature of the soul,

about the existence of our spiritual Guides and Masters,
-----
and that there is a Plan of God guiding the course of humanity.
If the masses of people could think clearly about these simple things, then all the world problems could be resolved, and the solution requires simply an abundance of goodwill and common sense. There is no need to be dependent upon channeled messages or pronunciations from spiritual leaders. The understanding of what to do is already written in our own hearts, and we need simply to be still, reflect upon these matters and recognise that which deep within we already know.
I make no claims of special knowledge or of special teachings from Masters or Guides. That which I share is a simple expression of what is basic common sense, and it can surely be similarly recognised as truth by any who seek to understand. Though I suggest that the final seven years of transition may now be upon us, I can make no strict pronouncement on this matter. And yet for any who have eyes to see and have an open heart, they will recognise that the suffering of humanity is already at totally unacceptable proportions. A delay of even a year or two in implementing a plan of action will simply increase the suffering, and may lead to disaster. It is therefore imperative that the acute urgency of the situation be recognised.
The solution I propose for manifesting our dreams and anchoring the Kingdom of Heaven on Earth has three activities. Ponder upon these, and you will recognise that they simply express that which is basic common sense.
Three Activities for Precipitating the New Age
It is humanity itself which must precipitate the New Age and anchor it upon the level of Earth. We must offer ourselves to become the hands and feet for the manifestation of divine Purpose and of the Plan.
Therefore there is need for vision to guide humanity towards right action. From the vision we need to develop an agenda for creative activity for world service. That vision arises from subjective attunement to the Plan, and has been expressed in a multitude of presentations by the world thinkers. That vision is a collective thoughtform belonging to all humanity, and no single group may claim its ownership.
Likewise agendas for action must be developed by each service group in its own way and with its own emphases for service, reflecting the note for the particular group. In a general sense however, such service activities may be broadly placed into three groups;
1) Group Meditation in Synthesis
In order to serve with intelligence and directed purpose, we need first to develop an intuitive understanding of the divine Plan guiding the course of humanity. This requires regular meditation to awaken the heart centre, and to consciously become aware of one’s true self on the level of soul. During this meditation, the soul links with all other meditating groups and servers around the world. During the meditation, there is attunement to spiritual values, of light, love, and goodwill. The soul becomes receptive to those spiritual and healing energies that uplift humanity. One enters into a meditation of synthesis, identifying with the overshadowing Spirit, with all co-workers and disciples, and with the needs of humanity and with the nature kingdoms of Earth. On this level, the level of true perception, all is ONE. There is no separation. Because all derives from the good, the true and the beautiful, one learns to attune to those positive healing thoughtforms that belong collectively to the soul of humanity, and which in turn inspire the individual in right service. At this level also, one links with the Christ at the centre of the Hierarchy of Masters, and invokes awakening of the Christ consciousness within oneself, for on this level all is one. And as the Christ has said, “The things I do ye shall also do and greater things shall ye do.” Only as one releases unconditionally attachments of the lower personality and surrenders to the overshadowing Christ consciousness, only then will you receive the wisdom, understanding and power to serve in the outer world in a manner which creatively contributes to the great work of planetary transformation.
There are many groups which instruct and assist in right meditation. Each has its own note to sound, and none can claim central leadership, for the inspiring and guiding purpose is the collective heritage of the subjective or esoteric group of disciples and world servers.
2) Group Activity of Direct Compassionate Response to Need
The Plan for planetary redemption is already formed in its perfection upon subjective levels. Any who choose to participate in the subjective work of a group meditation of synthesis, identifying with all creation and of the needs of humanity, can discern in their own hearts a portion of that Plan, and thus receive inspiration to participate in the group work of world service. The keynote for world service has been provided in the words of the Affirmation of Goodwill;
“The only way to guarantee a future of peace and progress for the whole human race is for enough men and women of goodwill to accept responsibility for the establishing of right relations, and to work actively with the principles of unity and goodwill."
The task before humanity is then to transform the divine Plan into actuality upon the plane of Earth. This in turn involves the precipitation of the Plan along the thread of consciousness for humanity, that may be called the Rainbow Bridge. The Rainbow Bridge for the manifestation of the Kingdom of Heaven upon Earth, humanity itself must construct. The higher half of that bridge, working with a meditation of synthesis and clarifying a fragment of vision of that which needs to be done, is the task of the esoteric workers to construct.
But if left there, the thoughtforms for solution will simply circulate among the ivory towers of discussion and debate. For this vision to become anchored upon Earth, the lower half of the Rainbow Bridge needs also to be constructed. This is the field of practical service work, the realm of compassion and humanitarian workers. Its general keynote must be one of empowering the sensed vision. The overall purpose of construction of the lower half of the Rainbow Bridge building may be expressed thus;
“To facilitate the emergence of a goodwill network in which the hands of men and women of goodwill are strengthened so that they become enabled to directly provide a meaningful compassionate response to the most urgent needs of humanity.”
Such a network of compassion workers is universal in its outreach, and as with the esoteric work it has no central leadership.
It is composed of many groups and organisations, not necessarily linked together in any formal or objective way, but being inspired by the same global master Plan. The task of these groups is to transform the lofty visions for solution into actuality. This work involves deep personal sacrifice, such as when Mother Theresa called us to “love until it hurts”. It involves the will to remain focussed with clear intention and to persevere, penetrating through all obstacles that stand in the way of manifestation of the vision. These obstacles are removed, not by force, but through an approach of goodwill, harmlessness, and a sense of unity, ever lifting up the good, the true and the beautiful until LIFE energy itself touches all souls involved in the area of service, lifting the group work onto a higher level.
Invariably, the compassion work, dealing with problems connected to dense matter as it does, requires wise use and deployment of money. At the moment, there is an immense accumulation of the world finances in the affluent nations and wealthy classes, and this imbalance must be restored to harmony if ever humanity is to enter into the New Age. It is in this area of sharing that the greatest resistance will be found, for the Principle of Sharing requires detachment from selfish and personal desires.
3) Affirmation of Living Principles
The third broad group of service activity involves the fusion of the esoteric or subjective group work, together with the exoteric, practical or compassion work. It involves the uniting of exoteric and esoteric workers in one spiritual undertaking. This involves the group receptiveness to the Will of God, and the loving facilitation of the divine Plan onto the plane of Earth. It thus involves group invocation to access an aspect of will rarely used by humanity before. Then the positive spiritual energy thus reached must be lovingly and intelligently directed, so to respond to urgent need. This is group work, involving sacrifice of a profound nature, and thus the disciple learns through the crucible of his own personal experience in loving service to humanity.
The keynote of this third field of creative activity is to radiate forth the abundance of LIFE itself. The field of radiant impact ever expands, until such a time as it embraces all humanity, and involves the creative united participation of all service groups throughout the world. The disciple ever works with a meditation of synthesis, identifying with all creation and in particular with the invocative appeal for help coming from humanity, and because of this absolute identification, responds directly to the need. Such potent work can only be effective when the disciple works purely from the level of soul, having made the supreme sacrifice of anointing oneself to the overshadowing universal Christ consciousness. The task of such a disciple is to radiate forth the energy of LIFE itself in facets of living, through silence and speech, through inner peacefulness and radiant joy, through movement and song and dance.
The disciple ever lives in the realm of the good, the true and the beautiful, affirming only that which is of divine creation and therefore is perfect. For the deepest pain and agony of our heart, is yet also our greatest treasure. Within that pain is veiled a secret more precious to us than anything of this Earth.
If the pain is in hate, our treasure is in love.
If the pain is in fear, our treasure is in joy.
If the pain is in anxiety, our treasure is in peace.
If the pain is in loneliness, then our treasure is in the realisation of our one-ness with all creation.
Let us each look at the deep sorrow of our heart and turn the coin over, and behold the mystery on the other side. Then that which had been our deepest sorrow will become most blessed by us as the cause for our joy. And in this understanding comes knowledge that in God, all is beauty, all is harmony, all is perfection. Even that which had been perceived as evil, even the immense suffering of the great tribulation itself, is now recognised as that which veils the glory of God; that which holds back the wonder of personal revelation until the disciple is ready.
Thus when the esoteric and exoteric workers unite together into the one spiritual undertaking, then gradually the radiance of LIFE energy itself, which is the energy of the vibrant joyful living soul, will radiate forth to all humanity. In time, people themselves will affirm these affirmations of LIFE principles, and will collectively begin to rejoice and give praise, even amidst the most oppressive stages of the coming tribulation.
It must be humanity itself which responds, and collectively invokes the anchoring of the Kingdom of Heaven upon Earth. Prophecy suggests that from the land of Russia the first sign of humanity’s integration into the New Age will appear. For to the children of Medjugoria, Our Lady spoke that Russia "is the place where God will be most glorified."
And from Destiny of Nations p61 by Alice Bailey, we read the following prophecy concerning Russia;
“Behind the closed borders of that mysterious and magnificent country, a great and spiritual conflict is proceeding and the rare mystical spirit and the truly religious orientation of the people is the eternal guarantee that a true and living religion and culture will finally emerge. Out of Russia . . . will emerge that new and magical religion about which I have so often told you. It will be the product of the great and imminent Approach which will take place between humanity and the Hierarchy. From these two centres of spiritual force, in which the light which ever shineth in and from the East will irradiate the West, the whole world will be flooded with the radiance of the Sun of Righteousness."
Of such events, we need not overly concern ourselves, for they will happen only when humanity is collectively awakened to a sufficient degree. Let us therefore focus upon the work of restoring the Garden of Eden to Earth, so that what has happened locally with the Findhorn Garden, will in the future manifest on a global scale. For the Principles of Manifestation that were so abundantly demonstrated at the locality of Findhorn in Scotland, must now be demonstrated on a global level, transforming all aspects of human consciousness and activity, political, economic, civil, social, artistic, educational, and religious.
In the days to come, let us link together in the universal Christ consciousness, and releasing all tensions and anxieties, together construct that bridge in consciousness for humanity through which our collective dreams are transformed into vibrant reality. And as we do so, even the mighty tribulations of our time will be especially blessed as they force us to see the urgency of the situation and to step forward to collectively claim our spiritual heritage.
For some the coming days may be filled with fear, tribulation and suffering. For others they can be filled with joy and praise as together we unite to manifest God’s wondrous glories upon the face of the Earth. The coming years can truly become a time of magic and wonders. Our inner attitude thus reflects the focus of our life choices. Do we choose to surrender all to the ways of Spirit, or do we choose to remain focussed in our attachments to the forms of our outer experience? Only as humanity collectively chooses the option of LIFE, will we fully enter into the Age of Oneness with God.
