“When enough people start thinking kindly of the rest of humanity, at a certain point we’ll reach flashpoint—and suddenly there will be peace on Earth, for the first time in recorded history. And if a few demented warlords decide to push the button anyway, they’ll find their weapon systems suddenly aren’t working any more. That isn’t a threat, by the way—it’s a promise! I have been told by the top brass up here that if anyone does press the Armageddon button—instead of instant global destruction, there’s going to be instant revelation...”

"I love receiving all your compilations, and I am always interested in the amazing Meditation Focus compilations that you forward on. It is such a wonderful thing that we have the Internet where we can all unite in love and prayer to help Dance down the Light which is so desperately needed on this planet. I have learned so much more about the world and politics, and although it is difficult to handle at times — it is so raw and cruel what is happening — it keeps me very much in focus, moment to moment, as to the simplicity of responding with deep love and prayer. Thank you once again."

UK Consumers Against the Pervasive Use of RFDI
Our aim is to inform consumers of the advances in Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) and the potential impact these devices could have on individual privacy and liberty. We believe that RFID technology will have a huge impact on the lives of everyone in the country but that most people are unaware of the progress being made and the technology’s potential uses. Imagine a world where you could be tracked because what you are wearing, buying or carrying has a small chip inside dedicated to informing others of your movements and consumer habits. That’s what RFID can deliver and will if ordinary consumers don’t stand up and demand a curb on its uses and applications. Don’t think because you have nothing to hide you have nothing to fear. In a world of unchecked RFID we will all have something to fear and no way to hide from it. - Recommended by "Judith Iam">

Would you like a receipt with that election?
Technologists advocate a paper trail for electronic voting machines Electronic voting has its perils. Imagine this odd scenario on election day. You step inside the voting booth at the local Y and are faced with a red curtain. Behind the curtain is a man who fills out your ballot for you as you tell him whom you want for president, for city council, for mayor. But what if the man writes it down wrong, or switches your vote to a different candidate? Or what if his pen breaks, or he loses your ballot? You would never know, as you don't get to see your ballot and there's no proof of your original vote. Stanford computer science Professor David Dill says that the man behind the curtain should show you the ballot. He uses this metaphor to illustrate his grievance with completely paperless electronic voting machines, such as touch-screen machines. ''If the machine silently loses or changes the vote, the voter has no clue that that has happened,'' says Dill. He argues that electronic voting machines should print a paper copy of the ballot, which the voter can inspect and which can be used in the event of a recount.

Bush would lose in vote now: poll (Feb 19),5744,8727466%255E1702,00.html
US President George W Bush would lose to either of the two leading Democratic presidential contenders, if elections were held today, according to a public opinion poll. The CNN/USA Today/Gallup survey released today shows Massachusetts Senator John Kerry would get 55 per cent of the vote in a direct match up with the President, versus Bush's 43 per cent.

The Strange Death of the Woman Who Filed a Rape Lawsuit Against Bush (Nov 23, 2003)
(...) I can really understand media members being intimidated, even frightened, of the Bush administration. As I've detailed before, these are not Boy Scouts running the show. The Schoedinger death is just the latest in a string of strange ones surrounding the Bush family. (...) For all I know, maybe Schoedinger did kill herself. Maybe she dreamed up a lot of this stuff. But I don't know, am I "deranged" to think it's weird that in this mass-media, detailed-information age, so few people are even asking any questions about how a woman who filed a rape lawsuit against the president could be dead less than a year later?

The Despoiling of America (Feb 16)
How George W. Bush became the head of the new American Dominionist Church/State.
(...) What would a “reconstructed” America look like under the Dominionists? K.L. Gentry, a Dominionist himself, suggests the following “elements of a theonomic approach to civic order,” which I strongly suggest should be compared to the Texas GOP platform of 2002, which reveals that we are not just talking about imaginary ideas but some things are already proposed on Republican agendas. (...) The livelihood of the working people of America is at stake. The Dominionists have lost more American jobs in the last three years than since the days of Herbert Hoover. And now they want to eliminate the minimum wage laws too. America’s unions have helped to create a better life for millions of workers. The Dominionists want to break all unions apart (especially the teacher’s union). As Americans, we love our schools and are proud of our educational system. The Dominionists want to destroy all public education in America and force Americans to be educated in their religious schools. Americans love our culture and the arts. The Dominionists want to destroy that culture. The election of 2004 is not just another election. It is the battle of the century. It is the gravest political war since the Civil War, which if lost, spells the end of Independence Day and every right in the Bill of Rights that we have fought so hard to preserve. Is there an American, regardless of his or her party, who would not fight for our Democracy? It’s in jeopardy now. Our friends and cousins in Britain, France, Australia, New Zealand and scores of other nations have seen our jeopardy and have been crying out for months and days and years to wake up America! Let me see your face and look into your eyes. Let me hear you say, “There is no difference between the two parties.” May God help us and grant us discernment when we vote.

Iraq May Be Slipping Into Civil War (Feb 16)
BAGHDAD, Iraq - Sunni politicians speak angrily of U.S. bias toward their Shiite rivals. Kurds are more outspoken in demanding self rule -- if not independence. And someone -- perhaps al-Qaida, perhaps Saddam Hussein loyalists -- killed more than 100 people in recent suicide bombings. Rivalry and resentment among Iraq's ethnic and religious groups have become much more pronounced since Saddam's ouster in April. And those tensions are rising as various groups jockey for position with the approaching June 30 deadline for Iraqis to retake power. The fault lines are emerging for a possible civil war.

Iraq: Still in the dark (Feb 3)
Ten months after the occupation of Iraq in April 2003, the electricity service has still not been fully restored. The Iraqi capital, Baghdad, still suffers irregular electricity flow. Each district in the capital has to live without electricity for at least six hours a day. The situation is in stark contrast with what happened after the 1991 Gulf War which left the main Iraqi electrical power stations in ruins. It took the then Iraqi government three months to restore electricity to its pre-war level.

Bush Blames Al Qaeda (his 'All-Purpose Bogeyman') for Spectre of Civil War In Iraq
The Pentapost reports: "Insurgents in Iraq sought the help of senior leaders of the al Qaeda terrorist network for a plan to spark a 'civil war'... citing a document seized from an al Qaeda courier." How convenient! Almost as convenient as the rescue team "stumbling" on Jessica Lynch! "Their [Al Qaeda's] strategy is to provoke sectarian warfare in an effort to tear this country apart," asserts Dan Senor, a spokesman for the U.S.-led coalition occupying Iraq. Senor is a former lobbyist for the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, the most powerful pro-Israel lobby on Capitol Hill and former press secretary of Sen. Spencer Abraham, who is now Bush's Energy Secretary (as in oil and gas!). The real reason for looming civil war is Bush, who has made and broken promises to both the Kurds and Shiites, and, say some, seeks to foment continued violence to keep his "war time president" image alive.

Washington Conceals US Casualties In Iraq (Feb 6)
The Bush administration is deliberately concealing from the American people the number and condition of US military personnel who have been wounded in Iraq. The efforts by those few politicians and media figures who have pursued the issue make this clear. Estimates on the number of US soldiers, sailors and Marines medically evacuated from Iraq by the end of 2003 because of battlefield wounds, illness or other reasons range from 11,000 to 22,000, a staggering figure by any standard. Thousands of these young men and women have been physically or psychologically damaged for life, in turn affecting the lives of tens of thousands of family members and others. And the war in Iraq is less than one year old.

Nato happy to ignore explosion in Afghan opium output, says Russia (Feb 9),1284,1143881,00.html
Nato is turning a blind eye to the flourishing opium trade in Afghanistan to ensure the support of warlords in the struggle to maintain security in the country, Russia's defence minister has claimed. Sergei Ivanov said Afghanistan was now producing nine times the quantity of drugs it did under the Taliban. "It is understandable that by allowing drug peddling in Afghanistan, the [Nato] alliance ensures loyalty of warlords on the ground and of some Afghan leaders," he said.

On December 1, 2003, Howard Dean was ahead by 20 points in the polls when he appeared on Hardball with Chris Matthews and said, “We're going to break up the Giant Media Enterprises.” This pronouncement went far beyond the governor’s previous public musings about possibly re-regulating the communications industry, and amounted to a declaration of War on the Corporations that Administer the Flow of Information in the United States. It was an extraordinarily noble and dangerous thing to do: when he advocated a truly Free Press, Dr. Dean was provoking the Corrupt Media Conglomerates that Control what most Americans See and Hear and Read, and thereby control what most Americans think. The Media Giants quickly responded by Crushing his High-Flying campaign with the greatest of ease. This time, they didn’t even have to invent a scandal in order to achieve the desired result; merely by chanting the word --“Unelectable” --at maximum volume, the Mainstream Media maneuvered Democratic voters into switching their support to someone who poses NO Threat to the status quo.

N.Y. City Council Passes Anti-Patriot Act Measure

Autism linked to preservative in common childhood vaccines Alarmed U.S. researchers peg mercury-based chemical as 'smoking gun' (Feb 5)
Vaccines for routine immunization of children in Canada have been available without thimerosal since March 2001. OTTAWA -- Scientists have found what they believe could be a "smoking gun" linking vaccines to autism and attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder in children. In a study that was rushed to print online today -- two months ahead of its scheduled publication in the journal Molecular Psychiatry -- U.S. researchers have discovered an apparent link between thimerosal, a controversial mercury-based preservative once commonly used in childhood vaccines, and an increased risk of neurological disorders such as autism and ADHD. While most vaccines distributed in Canada have been thimerosal-free since the late 1990s, the preservative was used in the annual flu shot that doctors recommended this year for even healthy children. The study could account for the rising rates of autism since the early 1980s, when more thimerosal-containing shots were added to a child's vaccine schedule, says investigator Dr. Richard Deth, a professor of pharmacology at Northeastern University in Boston. A recent review of vaccine-related "adverse events" in the U.S. found a "significant correlation" between shots containing thimerosal and autism, the researchers report.

Growing Shortage of Bees Threatens Agriculture
Environmental biologist Peter Kevan, a professor from the University of Guelph in Canada, said it is a fact that, due in part to pesticide use, there is a growing global scarcity of bees and insects, and that these pollinators are required to produce most of the world's fruits, nuts, grains and vegetables. It seems logical, then, that crop production and world commodity markets would be affected by the lack of pollinators and that it would be possible to attach a dollar amount to the losses. "Nonetheless, there is little information on how the shortage is affecting the costs of food production," he said. "There must be economic implications, and we should be able to figure out what it is costing the consumer, who is benefiting from the losses and who is not."

Subject: Corroboration about the Omniversal Energy
Date: 17 Feb 2004

I’ve just read the ‘Omniversal Energy’ piece by Elora Gabriel in your latest newsletter with the greatest interest. It needs no corroboration, of course, but here is just that, from what might be considered an unexpected quarter:

In her recent book, ‘Love from Diana’, the late Princess Diana describes an audience she is granted with the Holy Mother, who appears to her in the guise of a 12-year-old girl.

What She says to Diana will, I’m sure, reassure Kiara Windrider, Elora Gabriel and your readers as much as it did me.

Love and thoughts and thanks, as ever, from London and

Michael. J

Thank you for agreeing to see me, divine Mother.

The God Child
Thank you for never losing sight of me, Diana.

You know why I’m here.

The God Child
I do.

Here we go again - yours truly rushing in as impulsively as ever:

Enough is enough! There has been too much betrayal, too much pain, too much tragedy, too much torture, too much sacrifice.

A split-second pause before She replied:

The God Child
Indeed there has, Ambassador.

On behalf of our beloved Mother, Earth, who has loved and protected us unconditionally, despite everything we have done to her; on behalf of all the living creatures we have slaughtered; and on behalf of almost a billion innocent human beings who have been sacrificed, I humbly ask you to intercede without delay.

There was a longer pause this time, before the God Child replied:

The God Child

It is being done.

I almost fainted with relief.

The God Child

The Light and Love and Power that so many have been praying for are already on their way. They have been transmitted to the Central Sun, which is now relaying them to your own Sun which, in turn, is stepping them down before relaying them to Earth. Soon, all those on Earth who wish to do so will receive as much of this Power as they can absorb. Everything will proceed from that.

I woke, and found myself under the willow tree again. Then, despite my excitement, and my impatience to share the news with everyone I know, I fell into a blissful, dreamless sleep, then woke once again - and found myself back home.

An even bigger crowd of friends and loved ones was waiting for me. And what a celebration followed!

May something very like it soon be echoing and re-echoing all round the world - the first party everyone gets to attend as an honoured guest! You all deserve it.

I love you. And so does everyone else up here.

See you soon. . .

‘Love from Diana’ is published in the UK by Magus. A US edition is now being planned.

NOTE FROM JEAN: I read this whole site and very much enjoyed connecting with Diana's energy through Michael.

Subject: Bush v. Kerry: The Power Elite’s Dream Ballot

After reading this you realize it is all the more reason to support the candidacy of Dennis Kucinich who has the ability to break the spell that the power elite have placed on the American public and bring our nation back to sanity and devoid of special interest.

Bush v. Kerry: The Power Elite’s Dream Ballot

By Michael Colby

If you hear gleeful giggling from behind the curtain shielding the political elites from the mere masses, you’re not alone. There’s a party going on and we haven’t been invited. It’s a presidential election party, where the puppeteers of our democracy are celebrating an upcoming election that they can’t lose. It’s a contest between two of their own.

George Bush versus John Kerry is a dream ballot for those whom C. Wright Mills called the “power elite,” that tight little club of economic, political and military leaders who truly rule the nation. The power elite doesn’t care about political party affiliations. That’s child’s play. In their view, fools line up to vote while the real players decide who’s on the ballot. And for some reason we still refer to the whole charade as democracy. The joke’s on you.

Bush v. Kerry is simply nirvana for the bluebloods. As they say in the business world: it’s a win-win situation. From their perspective, whomever places his hand upon the Bible (yes, the Bible) on January 20, 2005 doesn’t matter because with a Bush/Kerry contest they’re already assured there will be no meaningful change in America for the next four years. None. Zero. Zippo.

Before the delusional Democrats out there start peppering me with hostile emails about the absolute necessity of getting “anybody but Bush” in the White House, just stop yourselves long enough to consider these facts: Kerry supported Bush’s war on Iraq; Kerry supported Bush’s tax cuts; Kerry hasn’t proposed one major social or environmental initiative in over 20 years in the U.S. Senate; Kerry hasn’t put forward any meaningful policy initiatives in his campaign for the presidency regarding jobs or healthcare. Kerry’s campaign seems to be all about proving that he qualifies as “anybody but Bush.” And all that takes is a pulse.

Bush and Kerry are also, of course, both proud military men. Bush took the easy way out of the Vietnam War by joining the National Guard – whether he showed up or not is another matter. Kerry, as he’s so fond of telling us, served his country by running gunboats up and down the rivers of Vietnam. Brace yourselves, folks, because the Bush/Kerry contest will be filled with assertions and accusations about who loves the military more.

Kerry is really confusing on the issue of the military, too. Before pro-military audiences, Kerry trots out his military medals (three Purple Hearts!) and talks tough about his “duty and service” to the nation. But then he’ll stand before the Dean Democrats and talk about how he led the anti-war movement when he got home. Well, John, what’s it going to be: duty and service or conscientious objections?

It’s this kind of double talk that has littered the political career of John Kerry. He’s always hanging around talking out of both sides of his mouth until it’s safe to actually pick a side – and then only if he’s forced to. Kerry doesn’t need Botox injections; he needs a spinal transplant.

Then consider Kerry’s oft-quoted attacks on “special interests.” Apparently, his special interests are holier than Bush’s special interests. The truth, of course, is that they share many of the same special interests, all to the detriment of we, the non-special people.

While it pains me to invoke the words of David Brooks, a conservative columnist at The New York Times, he did sufficiently lampoon Kerry’s rhetoric on special interests in a recently published column entitled “Kerry’s Special Friends.” After detailing many of Kerry’s special favors to the high and mighty, Brooks concludes as follows:

“You just ask David Paul, one of the big figures in the savings and loan scandal, if Kerry didn't make him feel special. You just ask the high-tech executive Bob Majumder how special Kerry made him feel, at least until Majumder was charged with 40 counts of conspiracy, witness tampering, fraud, tax evasion and illegal campaign contributions. You just ask the law firms, the brokerage houses, the oil companies, the H.M.O.'s and the drug companies, which have donated tens of thousands of dollars to Kerry.

“Oh, he sometimes pretends that he doesn't care about our special interests. He puts on that callous populist facade. But deep down he cares. Maybe he cares too much. When he's out on the stump saying otherwise, he's just being a big old phony.”

Of the many similarities between the patricians Bush and Kerry, there’s nothing more disturbing than their membership in the super-secret and super-elite Skull & Bones club at Yale University. The fact that both men are members of this club and neither is willing to spill the beans on any of its internal secrets and favors should speak volumes about the apparent “choice” this nation is being offered on the November ballot

“America is about to choose between two presidential candidates,” writes Sam Smith, editor of the indispensable Progressive Review (, “who belonged to an organization whose values were infantile, elitist, misogynist, anti-democratic and secret and whose purposes include the mutual support and protection of its members as they make their into the upper ranks of American society and throughout their adult lives. Far from apologizing for this, the two candidates refuse to give open and honest answers about their participation. Further, at least one of the candidates, Kerry, has retained a close enough relationship to the organization to have sought news members from among his young acquaintances.”

If Bush v. Kerry is truly the choice being offered to the nation in November, we don’t even have to wait for the voting to begin in order to declare the winner. This nation’s power elites are not only poised for yet another victory, but they’re thrilled by the prospects of four more years of calm, non-threatening waters from which they float their political boats.

Relatives challenge White House to provide answers to 23 questions 9/11

Family Steering Committee demands Bush testify under oath

By Nicholas Levis>

Feb. 17, 2004 - New York City

"Mr. Bush, who approved the flight of the bin Laden family out of the United States, when all commercial flights were grounded?"

That is one of 23 explosive questions that George W. Bush and his subordinates will have to face in public testimony, under oath and pain of perjury - that is, if the relatives of people killed in the terror attacks of Sept. 11, 2001 get their way.

"Why has no one in any level of our government been held accountable for the countless failures leading up to and on 9/11?"

For more than a year, the Family Steering Committee - a group of thirteen "9/11 relatives" representing several other 9/11 family groups - has monitored the government's commission on Sept. 11, which is headed by former New Jersey governor Thomas Kean. FSC member Mindy Kleinberg was among the first to testify when the Kean Commission held its first proceedings. She alerted the panel to a number of disturbing and unanswered questions and contradictions in the government's explanation of what happened on Sept. 11.

(For a transcript of Kleinberg's comments, see

Almost none of the issues raised by Kleinberg were ever again brought up in the Kean Commission's public hearings.

The Family Steering Committee issued their challenge to Bush on Monday, following reports last week that the Kean Commission had asked George W. Bush and Bill Clinton to testify. The White House says Bush is considering an appearance before the Kean Commission, but only in secret session. And if he does appear, it is unlikely Bush will face questions like those on the Family Steering Committee's list: "Please explain why you remained at the Sarasota, Florida, Elementary School for a press conference after you had finished listening to the children read, when as a terrorist target, your presence potentially jeopardized the lives of the children?"

(Mr. Bush, his staff and his Secret Service entourage were indeed in that school, as carried on live television, until 9:32 a.m. on Sept. 11, 45 minutes after the first plane hit the World Trade Center, and 27 minutes after the moment when Bush was informed of the second plane crash and told "America is under attack," at 9:05 a.m., an anomaly that the White House has never explained.)

In recent weeks, the family members have released a series of harshly-worded statements, blasting the Bush administration for stonewalling the investigation - and also condemning the Kean Commission for refusing to examine key evidence. These statements have been published at the FSC's website at

In its public hearings the Kean Commission has indeed displayed reluctance to pursue controversial lines of inquiry. It is hard to imagine its members would ever ask if the U.S. government tried to cut a deal with Osama Bin Laden in advance of the attacks, as reported in the European press already in 2001. But the families want the answer: "Did you or any agent of the United States government carry out any negotiations or talks with UBL, an agent of UBL, or al-Qaeda?" ("UBL" is government speak for Osama Bin Laden.)

Nor has the Kean Commission shown any inclination to follow the trail of the Cheney "energy policy meetings" in early 2001 and the Bush administration's oil-pipeline negotiations with the Taliban up to July 2001 - a touchy subject that might come up if the government ever had to answer this question: "During that same period, did you or any agent of the United States government carry out any negotiations or talks with any foreign government, its agents, or officials regarding UBL?"

And it is simply inconceivable that the Kean Commission would ever wonder out loud if anyone other than Al-Qaeda benefitted from the attacks. But the families are not afraid of the obvious: "Which individuals, governments, agencies, institutions, or groups may have benefited from the attacks of 9/11?"

Although the Kean Commission accepted a deal strictly limiting its access to the White House documents detailing advance warnings of a possible terror attack, Governor Kean last week felt confident enough to claim there was "no smoking gun" to indicate Bush had specific advance knowledge of the attacks - at least not in the "parts of the documents" Kean had been allowed to see.

The families don't buy that on faith or partial evidence. They want to know the real answer: "As Commander-in-Chief, from May 1, 2001 until September 11, 2001, did you receive any information from any intelligence agency official or agent that UBL was planning to attack this nation on its own soil using airplanes as weapons, targeting New York City landmarks during the week of September 11, 2001 or on the actual day of September 11, 2001?"

Meticulously researched, the FSC's questions to Bush reflect many of the same concerns that have caused millions of people worldwide to doubt everything about the official story of Sept. 11, 2001, and to call for a truly independent investigation with subpeona power, testimony under oath, and no self-imposed restrictions as to "allowable" lines of inquiry.

It is hard to dismiss these concerns as "conspiracy theory" when the U.S. government itself used the most outrageous conspiracy theory of all - the lie that Saddam backed the attacks - as one of its pretexts to invade Iraq. In that matter as well, the families want to see the government held accountable: "Do you continue to maintain that Saddam Hussein was linked to al-Qaeda?" they ask. "What proof do you have of any connection between al-Qaeda and the Hussein regime?"

These questions indicate that the families have come to understand that, as great as their grief and tragedy was, the stakes in the 9/11 disclosure issue are far greater, and involve more than justice for the victims and well-deserved closure for the families. 9/11 was used as a lever to shift the world. All Americans - and, given the global impact, the people of the whole world - need to learn the answers that the families now demand.

The Family Steering Committee Statement and Questions Regarding the 9/11 Commission Interview with President Bush

February 16, 2004

The Family Steering Committee believes that President Bush should provide sworn public testimony to the full ten-member panel of the National Commission on Terrorist Attacks Upon the United States.

Collectively, the Commissioners are responsible for fulfilling the Congressional mandate. Therefore, each Commissioner must have full access to the testimony of all individuals and the critical information that will enable informed decisions and recommendations. Before an audience of the American people, the Commission must ask President Bush in sworn testimony, the following questions:

1. As Commander-in-Chief on the morning of 9/11, why didn't you return immediately to Washington, D.C. or the National Military Command Center once you became aware that America was under attack? At specifically what time did you become aware that America was under attack? Who informed you of this fact?

2. On the morning of 9/11, who was in charge of our country while you were away from the National Military Command Center? Were you informed or consulted about all decisions made in your absence?

3. What defensive action did you personally order to protect our nation during the crisis on September 11th? What time were these orders given, and to whom? What orders were carried out? What was the result of such orders? Were any such orders not carried out?

4. In your opinion, why was our nation so utterly unprepared for an attack on our own soil?

5. U.S. Navy Captain Deborah Loewer, the Director of the White House Situation Room, informed you of the first airliner hitting Tower One of the World Trade Center before you entered the Emma E. Booker Elementary School in Sarasota, Florida. Please explain the reason why you decided to continue with the scheduled classroom visit, fifteen minutes after learning the first hijacked airliner had hit the World Trade Center.

6. Is it normal procedure for the Director of the White House Situation Room to travel with you? If so, please cite any prior examples of when this occurred. If not normal procedure, please explain the circumstances that led to the Director of the White House Situation Room being asked to accompany you to Florida during the week of September 11th.

7. What plan of action caused you to remain seated after Andrew Card informed you that a second airliner had hit the second tower of the World Trade Center and America was clearly under attack? Approximately how long did you remain in the classroom after Card's message?

8. At what time were you made aware that other planes were hijacked in addition to Flight 11 and Flight 175? Who notified you? What was your course of action as Commander-in-Chief of the United States?

9. Beginning with the transition period between the Clinton administration and your own, and ending on 9/11/01, specifically what information (either verbal or written) about terrorists, possible attacks and targets, did you receive from any source?

This would include briefings or communications from:

* Out-going Clinton officials
* CIA, FBI, NSA, DoD and other intelligence agencies
* Foreign intelligence, governments, dignitaries or envoys
* National Security Advisor Condoleezza Rice
* Richard Clarke, former counterterrorism czar

10. Specifically, what did you learn from the August 6, 2001, PDB about the terrorist threat that was facing our nation? Did you request any follow-up action to take place? Did you request any further report be developed and/or prepared?

11. As Commander-in-Chief, from May 1, 2001 until September 11, 2001, did you receive any information from any intelligence agency official or agent that UBL was planning to attack this nation on its own soil using airplanes as weapons, targeting New York City landmarks during the week of September 11, 2001 or on the actual day of September 11, 2001?

12. What defensive measures did you take in response to pre-9/11 warnings from eleven nations about a terrorist attack, many of which cited an attack in the continental United States? Did you prepare any directives in response to these actions? If so, with what results?

13. As Commander-in-Chief from May 1, 2001 until September 11, 2001, did you or any agent of the United States government carry out any negotiations or talks with UBL, an agent of UBL, or al-Qaeda? During that same period, did you or any agent of the United States government carry out any negotiations or talks with any foreign government, its agents, or officials regarding UBL? If so, what resulted?

14. Your schedule for September 11, 2001 was in the public domain since September 7, 2001. The Emma E. Booker School is only five miles from the Bradenton Airport, so you, and therefore the children in the classroom, might have been a target for the terrorists on 9/11. What was the intention of the Secret Service in allowing you to remain in the Emma E. Booker Elementary School, even though they were aware America was under attack?

15. Please explain why you remained at the Sarasota, Florida, Elementary School for a press conference after you had finished listening to the children read, when as a terrorist target, your presence potentially jeopardized the lives of the children?

16. What was the purpose of the several stops of Air Force One on September 11th? Was Air Force One at any time during the day of September 11th a target of the terrorists? Was Air Force One's code ever breached on September 11th?

17. Was there a reason for Air Force One lifting off without a military escort, even after ample time had elapsed to allow military jets to arrive?

18. What prompted your refusal to release the information regarding foreign sponsorship of the terrorists, as illustrated in the inaccessible 28 redacted pages in the Joint Intelligence Committee Inquiry Report? What actions have you personally taken since 9/11 to thwart foreign sponsorship of terrorism?

19. Who approved the flight of the bin Laden family out of the United States when all commercial flights were grounded, when there was time for only minimal questioning by the FBI, and especially, when two of those same individuals had links to WAMY, a charity suspected of funding terrorism? Why were bin Laden family members granted that special privilege - a privilege not available to American families whose loved ones were killed on 9/11?

20. Please explain why no one in any level of our government has yet been held accountable for the countless failures leading up to and on 9/11?

21. Please comment on the fact that UBL's profile on the FBI's Ten Most Wanted Fugitives poster does not include the 9/11 attacks. To your knowledge, when was the last time any agent of our government had contact with UBL? If prior to 9/11, specifically what was the date of that contact and what was the context of said meeting.

22. Do you continue to maintain that Saddam Hussein was linked to al Qaeda? What proof do you have of any connection between al-Qaeda and the Hussein regime?

23. Which individuals, governments, agencies, institutions, or groups may have benefited from the attacks of 9/11? Please state specifically how you think they have benefited.

White House Seals Financial Records of Iraq Probe Appointees

Ex-Judge On Iraq Inquiry 'Involved In Cover-Up' (February 10),3604,1144553,00.html
Laurence Silberman, a retired judge nominated by the Bush administration as the co-chairman of the commission investigating pre-war intelligence on Iraq, was involved in a major cover-up during the Reagan era, his critics alleged yesterday. Mr Silberman sat on the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court of Review, which approved the expanded surveillance powers for the justice department under the controversial Patriot Act.

Reverend Doomsday: Tim LaHaye and Bush
It might seem unlikely that the commander in chief would take his marching orders directly from on high -- unless you understand the views of the Rev. Timothy LaHaye, one of the most influential leaders of the Christian right, and a man who played a quiet but pivotal role in putting Bush in the White House. If you know LaHaye at all, it's for his series of best-selling apocalyptic novels [the 'Left Behind' series]... In 1981, he helped found the little-known but vastly powerful Council for National Policy, a secretive group of wealthy donors that has funneled billions of dollars to right-wing Christian activists... LaHaye's free-fall began in the mid-1980s... What set it into motion was his connection with the weird would-be messiah Rev. Sun Myung Moon, whose Unification Church cult of 'Moonies' was viewed by most Christians as laughably heretical... [There were] reports that he'd received substantial funding from the wealthy Moon" as did Falwell and the Bush parents in the '90's.

Pundit O'Reilly Now Skeptical About Bush

Chalmers Johnson: the Sorrows of Bush's Endgame

If you listen to the Bush Ministry of Disinformation, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Bill O'Reilly -- and millions of Americans do, every day -- you get the impression people opposed to Bush's plan for endless war are Marxist nutbars and shrill hate-America malcontents.

Sure, some of them are Marxists. But most of them are normal people. In fact, some of them are even former CIA consultants.

Like Chalmers Johnson.

Johnson thought antiwar demonstrators during the Vietnam were naive. He voted for Ronald Reagan. In retrospect, Johnson told John Wilkens of the San Diego Union-Tribune, he was "a spear carrier for the empire."

"If you have a little money, I'd prepare your escape route," Johnson says. "You might want to go up to Vancouver and buy yourself a condo."

I thought about this last year. In fact, I was looking at Vancouver. But I don't have the money for a condo and, besides, I think America is worth sticking around and fighting for. But the way things are going it may be a lost battle.

Chalmers makes it sound bleak.

"I fear that we will lose our country," Johnson writes in his latest book, The Sorrows of Empire: Militarism, Secrecy, and the End of the Republic.

Bush and the Pentagon are bankrupting the nation, dismantling the Constitution, and leading us down the path to endless war. America is afflicted with the same "economic sclerosis of the former USSR," Chalmers explains in a ZNet interview. But at least Mikhail Gorbachev tried to reform the Soviet Union before it imploded. No such luck with Bush and the neocons. "The United States is not even trying to reform, but it is certain that vested interests here would be as great or greater an obstacle. It is nowhere written that the United States, in its guise as an empire dominating the world, must go on forever. The blowback from the second half of the twentieth century has only just begun."

It's not a good sign when former Generals begin casually speculating on the demise of the Constitution and the imposition of martial law, as Tommy Franks did a while ago.

"I fear that [after 9/11] we are going to get even more militarism," Johnson told Jeff Shaw of In These Times magazine. "That is, more and more functions -- including domestic police functions -- will be transferred from civilian institutions to the military, and the military will have ever greater authority in our society. We know how that will end. We're talking here about imperial overstretch, and the weaknesses of the imperial structure that will ultimately lead to a collapse... If this attack is an attack on our foreign policy, as I believe it is, we should be looking much harder at what our foreign policy is. If the United States is now going to go out and bomb some innocent people in Afghanistan who have already gone through two decades of living hell -- most of it sponsored by our government and that of the other erstwhile superpower, the former Soviet Union. Then you must say, we deserve what we're going to get."

Since there is no way to fight against the enormous military power and technology of the United States, adversaries will increasingly resort to asymmetric warfare, what Bush and the neocons call terrorism. Realizing they have no choice, Iran and North Korea are attempting to build nukes. It may be the only way they can prevent the United States from invading. Or it may give the US an excuse to bomb those countries in "preemptive" fashion, as the neocons like to call it.

Sooner or later somebody will light the Big Candle -- and that will be the end of life as we know it.

"The only hope for the planet is the isolation and neutralization of the United States by the international community," Chalmers explains. "Policies to do so are underway in every democratic country on earth in quiet, unobtrusive ways. If the United States is not checkmated and nuclear war ensues, civilization as we know it will disappear and the United States will go into the history books along with the Huns and the Nazis as a scourge of human life itself."

Johnson explained the "sorrows" mentioned in his latest book in an interview with Steve Dalforno of Z magazine last November.

"I think four sorrows inevitably accompany our current path. First is endless war... As it stands right now, since 9/11, Articles 4 and 6 of the Bill of Rights are dead letters. They are over... Second, imperial overstretch... The third thing is a tremendous rise in lying and deceit... The difficulty to believe anything that the government says any longer because they are now systematically lying to us on almost every issue. The fourth is bankruptcy. Attempting to dominate the world militarily is a very expensive proposition... The United States, for the last 15 years, has had trade deficits running at 5 percent every year. We are on the edge. If the rest of the world decides not to cooperate with us or just the rich people of East Asia decide the Euro is a better currency to put their money in than the dollar, we become a junkyard almost at once. The stock exchange would collapse and we would have a howling recession. All four of those things are likely to prevail... [The United States suffers from an] inability to reform. I think it is quite easy to imagine the defeat of George Bush as president. I do not find it easy at all that any successor to George Bush would make any difference... That leads me to the conclusion that we are probably going to reap what we have sown. That is blowback."

That is scary.

John Kerry or Howard Dean or whatever vanilla flavor of Republican Lite the Democrats throw out there will not make a lick of difference. Don't waste your time voting for them.

Boycott the elections. Go in the street on March 20th. Make a stink. Bang pots like the poor outside the Miraflores presidential palace in Caracas, Venezuela, when the CIA attempted to overthrow Hugo Chavez. Let them know you're pissed.

Or buy a condo in Canada.

And hope the wind is blowing in the right direction on the day Bush launches the nukes.

High Noon with Dubyu Fudd

by P.M. Carpenter

For most viewers, watching George W. Bush on "Meet the Press" was an hour-long descent into bewilderment and depression, a slack-jawed mental numbness brought on by wondering how such an inarticulate human being could occupy the world's most powerful office. And this time, no one could blame the bad reviews on nasty partisanship. Virtually everyone with a public voice confessed unease and regret over the president's soon-infamous performance.

On the morning after, amidst the tele-active fallout of letting George be George, the usual conservative suspects were unusually candid. Ronald Reagan's former mouthpiece and now full-time mouth at large, Peggy Noonan, described Mr. Bush as "unsure" of himself, "repetitive," "disconnected" and "often bumbling." The New York Times' token neocon David Brooks felt compelled to answer Tim Russert on behalf of the dazed, stammering president, and normally unabashed Joe Scarborough, MSNBC's right-wing attack dog, was visibly embarrassed by W's wind-up shtick. One prominent Republican strategist joined the critical chorus by calling the televised ordeal a "big, big stumble" for the White House.

Another strategist did come to the president's defense -- in a rather curious way. W did what he had to do, that is, "defend himself," said GOPer Dan Schnur, but "there's no question he's much more comfortable in front of a large, supportive audience." The necessity for that sort of poor-dear, protective-mothering comment about a reputedly rugged "war president" is all too sad.

To whip out the cliché that once again Bush had a deer-in-the-headlights demeanor would be an insult to the noble acuity of deer. His tour de force was that tour de funky. Coherence and consistency were conversational orphans. He struggled through some answers as though the questions posed were new territory for him. More commonly, though, he merely and unsuccessfully struggled to recite empty, pre-scripted sound bites.

The simple and striking upshot was that the man in charge clearly was not in control -- not of specific facts, the general situation, or his own words. It is worrisome indeed that after three years in office a commander in chief can still demonstrate such little respect for his responsibilities. He can't be bothered with things like preparation.

Yet one of the interview's segments dwarfed even that concern. A Russert question went to the crucial matter that in the absence of an imminent Iraqi threat, was the war still justified? After some incomprehensible meandering -- for example, "This is unaccounted for stockpiles that you thought [Saddam] had because I don't think America can stand by and hope for the best from a madman" -- the president reduced his answer to this: "I believe it is essential that when we see a threat, we deal with those threats before they become imminent. It's too late if they become imminent."

Just like that, Mr. Bush superseded his own neocon-junta's revolutionary foreign policy of preemptive war with the vastly more revolutionary policy of preventive war. Take heed, world. America no longer needs to confirm any actual threat to justify bunker-busting, bombings, regime changes, incursions, invasions -- whatever it likes -- and all of it launched unapologetically with crappy intelligence.

In short, dear global community, our president may be incapable of delivering sound bites without retakes, but -- and you'll just have to take our word for this -- he can be downright uncanny at reading your mind, your intentions, your soul. In dealing with "threats before they become imminent," Mr. Bush's re-revised foreign policy, casually announced on a Sunday talk show, is to shoot first and dismiss questions later.

On the other hand, perhaps what Bush said on MTP is not a new, new policy at all. Perhaps he misspoke. Perhaps he was confused. Or perhaps he knows not the difference between preemptive and preventive war. Problem is, given his overall level of inarticulateness, how could we -- or the world -- know?

Bush's defenders have always argued the president's inability to express himself with facility in no way inhibits his leadership. It would seem that argument is wrong, and on some rather profound policy questions.

Swami's State of the Universe for 2004

"Wake Up, America!" Wake Up Laughing, and Wake Up Loving

Greetings, and happy new year! And even though It's a brand new year, you know what? It's still now. A later now, but still now. Last year I predicted the book "The Power of Now" would be the next big thing -- and it was. And with more and more people learning to be in the now, I will make an even more radical prediction: Living in the now will be the wave of the future, until time itself becomes a thing of the past.

How's the Universe? Just Fine,Thanks

This is the State of the Universe Address, and knowing how busy most of us have been, you probably haven't stopped to ask, "I wonder how the Universe is doing." Well, since you didn't ask, I will tell you. Just fine, thank you. Ever-changing, same as always. Purring in perfection. The Universe continues expanding, and I don't care what the economists are saying, an expanding Universe means more jobs for everyone. Overall activity is up, and when the Universe puts on its overalls, you know it's gonna be a busy year.

Meanwhile back on earth, the cosmos are drawing us forth. Even George Bush. He recently announced plans to have a man on Mars by 2025, and he has a head start. Thanks to the so-called Patriot Act, he can have someone on Uranus by the end of the week.

As if we didn't have enough Mars energy these days. You never hear them talking about putting a woman on Venus, do you?

Going to Mars. That is the George Bush answer to global warming and environmental destruction. Well, we're just about done with this planet. Time to mosey on to greener -- I mean redder -- pastures. The E.T.s are very concerned. Right after the Mars probe landed, the headline in the Intergalactic Gazette was: "There Goes the Neighborhood."

The Angels Have Landed ...and Not a Moment Too Soon

Fortunately, there has been an infusion of angelic energy on Earth over the past year. Have you felt it? And those angels have upgraded their entire system. Now it's every time a cell phone rings, an angel gets his wings. The activity is everywhere. Even the Fox network is coming out with an angel show this year. But you know Fox, they're a little edgy. The new show is going to be called "Inappropriately Touched By An Angel."

And we will need all of the angelic energy we can get, because I have to tell you, the forces of endarkenment made great strides last year, leaving their footprints on the backs of far too many. Sadly, 2003 was the year that the Irony Curtain descended over America -- the invisible wall of impropaganda they put up to separate the people from the truth. And when Michael Moore broke through the soundless barrier at the Academy Awards Show, it was a moment of truth in a year that was short on truthful moments. His courage to speak the truth at a time when lie-ability appeared to be an asset makes him the leading candidate for this year's NoBull Prize.

Body Politic Anemic Due to Irony Deficiency

Yes, the body politic has been inundated with so much toxic BS, our skeptic system has overflowed and we've ended up swallowing toxic ironies whole. This is called "irony deficiency." Seeing a doctor won't help, but seeing a paradox will.

Like this one: The best way to preserve our liberties is to take them away. And maybe if we call it the Patriot Act, no one will notice that it is the most unpatriotic and unconstitutional legislation ever passed. Looking on the positive side, though, it has made our lives simpler. The Bill of Rights has now been boiled down to just one: You have the right to remain silent.

If a Speech Freely Falls in the Forest, and There is No One There to Hear it -- is it Still Free Speech?

True, this is a dangerous world, and while Mr. Cheney can hide himself in some undisclosed location, Mr. Bush has to make an appearance from time to time, and must be protected at all costs ... from free speech. So to make sure that criticism of his policies doesn't become massive enough to reach critical mass, protesters are now cordoned behind barbed wire in what are called ... and I am not making this up ... free speech zones. So Americans are still free to speak freely -- as long as no one can hear them.

Now I bet many Americans haven't even heard of these free speech zones, and that is not surprising. It was one of those stories that went uncovered while the media was busy assaulting us with weapons of mass distraction. Like what just happened at the Super Bowl. CBS -- which apparently wants us to see only the B.S. they want us to see -- refused to run a MoveOn ad critical of George Bush. Meanwhile, their affiliate MTV (or, as it has come to be known, Empty Vee) happily distracted us with the Janet Jackson /Justin Timberlake fiasco. This is all too typical of mass media nowadays -- an overwillingness to expose a little boob, and an underwillingness to expose a big one.

You can bet the Super Bowl will be entirely different in 2005. Rev. Jerry Falwell was very upset at what he called "trashy titillation and toilet humor" and vowed to clean it up. He has proposed that next year's half-time entertainment be provided by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, and the event be renamed the Tidy Bowl.

Strike While the Irony's Hot!

So the body politic must strengthen itself by doing free press presses and pumping ironies. You know the old saying, "Strike while the irony is hot!"

Like this one: The best way to make peace is by making war. I think Dick Cheney said it best: "We will keep fighting our war for peace, even if it takes forever!"

The War in Iraq is less than a year old, and it has cost us over $90 billion. That is $246,575,342 a day! Do the math. And if you find the math difficult to fathom, how about the aftermath? Who will foot the bill for this misadventure? I will tell you. That bill will be placed squarely at our children's feet. Years and years of bleeding off our precious livelihood to pay for weapons of deadlihood. No wonder the hood is so deadly!

Now of course there are those in the administration who say you gotta fight fire with fire, right? Well, I've been talking with some firemen lately, and you know what? They say, "No, you fight fire with WATER ... " We should be dampening support for those terrorists, and instead we seem to be firing them up. So here we are, caught between Iraq and a harder place, and unable to pull out because we wouldn't want to lose face. Now I don't know whose face is being saved over there, but for sure ass is being lost -- ours and theirs. War may or may not be face-saving, but it is always ass-losing. So we the people must decide whether saving their face is worth losing our ass.

And this thing about preemptive war being a new policy -- not true. There's nothing new about it. It is old, very old. Listen, Mr. Bush, I know you sometimes get words mixed up, but Jesus did NOT say, "Doo doo unto others BEFORE they can doo doo unto you."

So if we need any more proof that the Irony Curtain has indeed descended, consider this: We have a Patriot Act that is unpatriotic, a President supported by the Christian Right perpetrating Unchristian wrongs, and a plan for peace that fans the flames of war. Can you say, "DUH?"

Wake Up, America! So I say it's time to "Wake up, America!" Wake up to our serious foolishness. Wake up to the power of love that is our real choice in this world. And wake up to the infinite possibilities available to us when we stop doing what has never worked and try something different. Wake up America .. wake up laughing, and wake up loving!

Because I tell you what. Our choice is between love and fear. And I have good news. Love is a more powerful force. How do I know? Because otherwise we'd be singing ... All You Need is Fear - Fear Is a Many-Splendored Thing, and - She Fears You, Yeah Yeah Yeah.

And if we really want to save the world -- or at least spend it more wisely -- we must begin right now living the love, and losing the fear. Why now? Because it is too late to do it sooner!

Seriousness is Threatening Our Right to Laugh

The world is in such serious condition, the Earth's protective laugh force has been compromised. That's right. Scientists have discovered a hole in the Bozone Layer -- our planetary clown chakra -- because not enough levity is rising.

The good news is, we have founded the Right to Laugh Party ... one big party, everyone is invited .. to help us all wake up laughing, and leave laughter in our wake. Why laughter? Well most Americans agree there's definitely something funny going on, so why not use comedy to laugh those clowns out of power -- which in and of itself will raise the laugh-expectancy on the planet.

Because our right to laugh is being compromised by laugh-threatening seriousness. Everywhere I go, I see people not laughing. People are saying to me, "I don't understand it. I coulda sworn we voted for West Wing. How'd we end up with the Sopranos?"

A Gold Collar Crime Wave

Forget white collar crime. We have to face the fact that we're dealing with gold collar crime, and America is in denial. Consider this. Bill Clinton, remember him? He took an out turn with an intern, and his little peccadillo was blown all out of proportion. Meanwhile, George Bush was snuggled in bed with that Lay from Enron who has screwed millions -- and everyone seems to have forgotten.

Gold collar criminals are criminals who are big enough to actually help write the laws, and they are adept at the ancient Chinese art of using their energy or "ch’i" to take unfair advantage ... Ch’i Ting, it is called. And it's not just the Banana Republicans who are turning America into a banana republic. Parties in both parties are partying on our dime, and it's time to give them all the message: Their party is over.

The Trillion Dollar Question

Listen. A trillion dollars disappeared from the Defense Department accounts last year. Poof, like that. Totally unaccounted for. Did you see that on Unsolved Mysteries? Maybe it was on and I missed it. The Trillion Dollar Question. Now, there's a reality TV show I would watch. Another story covered up because the media failed to cover it. If we want the body politic to recover, we must uncover the under-covered stories that have been covered over. For indeed the best antidote for private excess is public access.

If Thomas Jefferson were alive today, do you know what he'd be saying? First thing he'd say is, "Boy I feel OLD!" But then he would say that we are sovereign citizens, not subjects, and the government is our servant, not the other way around. And we are not being served very well by our servants. They are serving themselves first, their cronies second, and we the people are picking up the tab. Thomas Jefferson, radical that he was, would be saying, "Forget those airline passengers. Let's strip search the government!"

Time for a New Precedent

The good news is we don't need a revolution in this country. We've already had one, thank you. What we need now is an American Evolution where we the people evolve into the enlightened citizens our Founding Fathers designed this government for. We must choose a new precedent, because if we keep doing what we've done we will only get what we've gotten. Choose a new precedent ... and a new President will follow. So we at the Right to Laugh Party put forth this precedent: Government of the people, by the people, for the people where the government does OUR bidding, not the bidding of the highest bidder.

Now I know we have counted on the Democrats in the past to represent the people's interests, but ever since they suffered that electile dysfunction back in 2000, those Democrats can't seem to get an election, can they? For the past ten years, the Republicans have been playing hardball. Meanwhile, the Democrats have been playing hardly-have-balls.

So that is why we must elect ourselves. It is only because of citizens like yourselves that Dr. Dean was able to alert the American public to the dangers of Mad Cowboy Disease (where the body politic is put into a state of cattlepsy) ... and citizens like you who will continue to awaken the body politic no matter who the candidates are. Yes, we need to wake up laughing, and wake up loving, so we can once and for all heal the body politic and cure electile dysfunction.

Blisskrieg Launched, All Out Peace Declared

Last year, we launched the Blisskrieg and declared all out peace. All those who have been developing inner peace, time to let it all out. And time to bring that force of consciousness into the political realm. That is why it is my mission to turn devotees into votees, and offer up another new precedent: Religions of the world helping people practice the Golden Rule instead of saying, "We're going to heaven .. and everyone else can go to hell."

Don't be afraid to laugh at the sacred cows, because as you know behind every sacred cow, there is a little bull lurking. So let's help religions enlighten up. Let's put the FUN back in FUNdamentalism. Because you can teach an old dogma new tricks. You can even teach your dogma to heal. In fact, I just heard some really good news. Apparently, there is a new singing group comprised of a Muslim, a Christian and a Jew, and it's called Three Dogma Night. Now something like that is bound to bring joy to the world.

Speaking of music, even Elvis is joining the Blisskrieg. That's right. I was recently traveling on a higher plane, and got to sit next to the King, who was, as you know, a great spiritual teacher. Hey, I was a Presleyterian for a while, and I followed the spiritual teachings of Elvis: "Love me tender, please surrender, return to sender." This time Elvis asked me to convey his very urgent message for peace to the world, to move the blisskrieg forward so that more and more people get struck by enlightening -- because it's now or never. Here is Elvis's message:

It's now or never
Though things seem tight
Blisskrieg my darlings
Be kind tonight
Tomorrow may be too late
It's now or never
Our love won't wait.

Just when we thought we
We had nearly ascended
The White House was captured
Our karma, rear-ended
When terrorists frighten
Let our laughter enlighten
And poof goes the fear
It's time to cheer at last

It's now or never
Though things seem tight
Blisskrieg my darlings
Be kind tonight
Tomorrow may be too late
It's now or never
Our love won't wait.

Ever since Adam
Munched on Eve's little apple
We've felt so guilty
We cried in the chapel
They call us sinners
But in love we're all winners
Now love is here
The time for fear has passed

It's now or never
Though things seem tight
Blisskrieg my darlings
Be kind tonight
Tomorrow may be too late
It's now or never
Our love won't wait

Thank you very much, and hope to see y’all in Graceland ...

Get Even -- Get Odd!

So how do we bring that blisskrieg home? First of all, we must really recognize the foolishness of getting even, and get odd instead. An eye for an eye will only create blindness. Instead of doing what has never worked, why not honor the odd possibility that by doing something different, we can actually get different results? Because the main reason for toxic human conditions is toxic human conditioning. Generations of this toxicity has left a lot of residoodoo.

Through the human jestive system, we can transmute this toxic residoodoo into harmless laughter that will improve the atmosphere and restore the Bozone Layer. Laughter will help the body politic de-Tex -- oops, I mean detox -- and bring down the irony curtain as well.

Here's another oddball idea: Could it possibly be possible that there's a better way to bring about peace than through war? I say the best way to achieve loving ends is through loving means. Remember the Power of Now? Because now is the only time that really exists, the ends and the means are one and the same. So if the means are mean, you already know how it will end.

Now I know what you are thinking (yes, people ask me all the time if I am psychic, and I always answer, "I knew you were going to ask that question!"). You're probably thinking, does this head-in-the-sky Swami have any practical down-to-earth ideas for resolving the conflict in the Middle East? Well, it happens I do. And we need only look beyond our own higher states, north to our Canadian neighbors for the answer. The Canadians don't shoot each other. They have very low crime. They are the most peaceful, civilized people in the world, except for one thing ... hockey.

So that is my simple plan for peace in the Middle East: Hockey! Little Palestinian kids, little Israeli kids channeling thousands of years of frustration into hockey. The Hamas team vs. the Mosad team. They could charge admission and raise money for peace organizations. You can bet there's gonna be some high-sticking and cross-checking, but you know what? It beats the hell out of suicide bombing and homicide retaliation, and it's a sure fire way to put the entire conflict on ice.

Pray It Forward!

Now listen, even if we can't prove God exists, we know love exists ... and even if religion doesn't work, prayer still does. So pray it forward. Forget the idea that the messiah is going to come down and save the world. Did Jesus say, "Now don't do a thing till I return?" No! We have met the messiah, and he is US! Who needs a bail out from above? This is supply-side spirituality.

Pray in any religion, pray in all of them. My guru, Harry Cohen Baba, the Garment Center Saint, was Jewish, had a Hindu ashram, and prayed to Buddha and Jesus. "Any one of these could be right," he explained, "so why put all your begs in one askit?" No one should be excluded, not even atheists. In fact, it is for their benefit that I created my Ultimate Meditation Tape -- which is, of course, blank. Because if we can't pray together, we don't have a prayer.

And as we pray for peace, I see us taking one small but significant step to actually get there. Are you ready to join me? OK, the first step is all of the peace organizations have to stop squabbling and make peace with one another. Think of how inspiring it will be to everyone else! And to get the process started, let us all join together in the peace mantra. Ready?

Ah, peace on it! Peace on it! Peace on it! Peace on it all!

Armageddon ... or Disarmageddon?

The choice is ours, every day and every minute ... love or fear. Will we continue down the well worn path to armageddon ... or take the road less traveled to disarmageddon instead? Are we going to buy into original sin, or go for humanifest destiny where we actually realize our human potential? Because no matter what I see on the 6 o’clock news I believe we have the potential to be human, that mankind can treat man kindly, and that we can bring about Nonjudgment Day where all heaven will break loose!

But we must enlighten up! How many of you are willing to take a vow of levity? All those willing to take a vow of levity ... please rise! Repeat after me: "All for fun, and fun for all!" I now pronounce you duly absurdified.

I have a dream. I have a dream of disarmageddon and nonjudgment day, a day of civil discourse when the Elephant lies down with the Donkey ... and doesn't roll over on top of him. I have a dream that all sessions of the United Nations will someday begin with the Hokey Pokey. Imagine, Yasser Arafat and Ariel Sharon. They put their whole selves in, that is commitment. They pull their whole selves out, that is detachment. They turn themselves around, and that is transformation. And THAT’S what it's all about!

May you laugh, laugh, laugh till the sacred cows come home. For truly the farce is with us.
