The Empire of Darkness Series #19: The Cherry on the Cake

Hello everyone

This will most likely be my last compilation for this year - unless there is something really big and urgent happening - as I think I and we all deserve a break from the onslaught of grim news and email material to read which has been aplenty in 2004.

It has been both a privilege to serve you as a conduit and pointer to let everyone know about the key issues and greatest challenges facing us, while trying to maintain as best as possible a balance through networking Light-fostering material from subscribers on this list and from many other sources.

I hope to be able to continue to serve in this capacity and can assert from the many feedbacks received that you are not only happy to stick along for the ride, but mostly very appreciative of this service.

While other such email-networking services require subscribers to pay a monthly fee to receive far less material, or repeatedly send out pleas for financial support while providing a mere fraction of the volume of information one may find in the compilations I prepare, I believe you also most certainly all appreciate that money has never been a condition to access all this information. Just for the record, as I now routinely do every year, here are some stats worth mentioning:

I've researched, compiled, archived and sent you 105 compilations representing 9,2 MEGS of material this year. Since there is an average of 2,3 K per page of material in my compilation, this represents over 5000 pages of information - now totalling over 20,000 pages of archived material on the ERN site (over 41 MEGS to date).

Now of course, the 28 Meditation Focus I also prepared and networked this year to nearly 4000 people each time, another service representing quite a bit of effort, time and energy in itself, should be included. They add up to 1,9 MEGS, so you have close to another 1,000 pages there. If these numbers don't make you a bit dizzy, they sure have that effect upon me... And there are also French versions of some Meditation Focus to include and some other French stuff, but gladly (for most of you) you don't get that.

Interestingly, I received close to 50 donations this year, many from people who pitched in a contribution several times, a support for which I'm extremely grateful since otherwise I would have had to cover the cost of maintaining this service which is close to $60/month and it also gave me a modicum of monetary compensation for the countless hours (about 8 to 10 hours per compilation/Meditation Focus - so about 1300 hours overall - or 25 hours/week) I've dedicated to keep up - as best as I possibly can - with everything coming my way.

One final revealing statistic. Consequently less than 2% of the 2800 subscribers on this list have been able or felt inspired enough by what they received to send a contribution, which has been the average since I began this over 7 years ago.

Luckily I can earn a living as a translator and I'm very grateful to have a job that allows me to stay home and enjoy enough free time to invest myself in this passion for networking and connecting with so many extraordinary people worldwide, a privilege few people today can enjoy. But I must frankly admit that these 2 jobs generally leave me with very little leisure time as it all keeps me busy most of my waking hours, a situation unlikely to change in the years ahead, well as long as my health and inner stamina enable me to continue this demanding regime. But make no mistake, I'm not complaining as I've chosen this just as did so many of you who have likewise chosen to dedicate often as much or even more time and energy to their own life mission.

It is a tradition at this time to the year to take stock of what we have accomplished and make plans and resolutions for our future achievements. What I believe is, in my view, my greatest achievement so far is to have been instrumental in inspiring so many people into shifting their own lives, often in dramatic ways, to further assist along in the global awakening process now under way. Sensing that we are collectively "forming a global spiritual community gradually empowering itself to contribute in shaping the future of this world" as someone from the Yes magazine once wrote to me about this Earth Rainbow Network, is definitely the most profound and satisfying feeling I have when I think about this past year and what is ahead. No matter how difficult the global situation and the individual circumstances we may each face turn out to be, this feeling of being in this all together, of co-creating the world we choose to live in and will leave to future generations, as called for in the Earth Proclamation many of you agreed to uphold, is the strongest motive and catalyst for me and, undoubtedly, for most if not all of you.

I wish you all a Love-filled, intensely rewarding and spiritually uplifting new year and will remain here to help connect together the enlightened dots of our awakening global sense of Oneness.

Playing Politics With Intelligence Reform by Senator Robert C. Byrd (Dec 8)
Remarks made on the US Senate Floor on the conference report on the National Intelligence Reform Act - When the elected representatives of the people allow themselves to be coerced into a process that encourages the abdication of our responsibility to understand and thoroughly review legislation, the people are robbed of their voice in their government. Senators take an oath to defend the Constitution, and common sense suggests that that means reading and studying the legislation before the Congress. We are duty bound to explore the opinions on all sides of an issue, and to work toward a process that does not exclude opponents or silence the opposition. (...) "This is the most far reaching reorganization of our intelligence agencies since 1947. These changes will remain for decades, and they will impact the security of our nation on countless levels. Such matters ought to be held to a higher standard of consideration by the Congress than is the case here." "This conference agreement is very different from the legislation that was passed by the House of Representatives and the Senate two months ago. For example, a number of provisions related to the Patriot Act and law enforcement powers have been inserted into this bill, which again, have never been considered on the Senate floor." "I say again, let us not believe that we understand what has been included in this conference report. It is, in effect, a new bill......" CLIP

Rumsfeld Gave Torture 'Marching Orders' in Memo

War Crimes Argument Against Rumsfeld, Others, Being Heard In German Court
JAMES RIDGEWAY, VILLAGE VOICE - While the right-wingers argue among themselves over the future of Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld -whether, for example, to be upset because he signs death notices to military families by machine - a German court is in the early stages of hearing a case brought by German and American public interest groups accusing Rumsfeld of being a war criminal because of his handling of the Abu Ghraib prison.

Torture Reconsidered: Shock, Awe and the Human Body (22 December 2004)
PARIS - A historian in the future, or a moralist, is likely to deem the Bush administration's enthusiasm for torture the most striking aspect of its war against terrorism. This started early. Proposals to authorize torture were circulating even before there was anyone to torture. Days after the Sept. 11 attacks, the administration made it known that the United States was no longer bound by international treaties, or by American law and established U.S. military standards, concerning torture and the treatment of prisoners. By the end of 2001, the Justice Department had drafted memos on how to protect military and intelligence officers from eventual prosecution under existing U.S. law for their treatment of Afghan and other prisoners. Abu Ghraib private contractor supplied prisoners with rotten food (December 17, 2004)
Rotten food crawling with bugs, traces of rats and dirt. Rancid meats and spoiled food resulting in diarrhea and food poisoning. This is what detainees at the Abu Ghraib prison near Baghdad were regularly given to eat by a private contractor in late 2003 and early 2004, causing anger to swell to a furious boil between the U.S. military guards and the prisoners. Foul as the food was, there never was enough. The private contractor, run by an American civilian who was subsequently killed, routinely fell short by hundreds of meals for Abu Ghraib's surging prison population. When the food did arrive, there were often late and frequently contaminated. So went another sad chapter in the story of the Abu Ghraib prison, where U.S. military personnel and private contractors would make headlines and ignite international outrage over allegations of torture psychological abuse in May of this year. At Guantanamo, a Prison within a Prison (17 December 2004)
C.I.A. has run a secret facility for some Al Qaeda detainees, officials say. Within the heavily guarded perimeters of the Defense Department's much-discussed Guantanamo Bay prison in Cuba, the CIA has maintained a detention facility for valuable al Qaeda captives that has never been mentioned in public, according to military officials and several current and former intelligence officers. The buildings used by the CIA are shrouded by high fences covered with thick green mesh plastic and ringed with floodlights, officials said. They sit within the larger Camp Echo complex, which was erected to house the Defense Department's high-value detainees and those awaiting military trials on terrorism charges. The facility has housed detainees from Pakistan, West Africa, Yemen and other countries under the strictest secrecy, the sources said. "People are constantly leaving and coming," said one U.S. official who visited the base in recent months. It is unclear whether the facility is still in operation today. The CIA and the Defense Department declined to comment. Most international terrorism suspects in U.S. custody are held not by the CIA but by the Defense Department at the Guantanamo Bay prison. They are guaranteed access to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and, as a result of a U.S. Supreme Court ruling this year, have the right to challenge their imprisonment in federal courts. CIA detainees, by contrast, are held under separate rules and far greater secrecy. Under a presidential directive and authorities approved by administration lawyers, the CIA is allowed to capture and hold certain classes of suspects without accounting for them in any public way and without revealing the rules for their treatment. The roster of CIA prisoners is not public, but current and former U.S. intelligence officials say the agency holds the most valuable al Qaeda leaders and many mid-level members with knowledge of the group's logistics, financing and regional operations. The CIA facility at the Guantanamo Bay prison was constructed over the past year as the agency confronted one of its toughest emerging problems: where to hold terrorists for interrogations that could last for years. Bush's Second Front: The Domestic War (16-27 December 2004)
The first edition of George W. Bush's administration was all about a destructive and disastrous foreign policy for which the American people will be paying for a long time. Now comes the second edition, the focus now is on domestic policy, and the plan is to apply the tried and true methods of fear mongering and deception used to sell the Iraq war in order to stampede the American people into going along with a neoconservative domestic agenda against their own best interests. The war this time will be waged on American soil, and the regime to be crushed is what little is left of the liberal legacy, especially social security and the progressive tax, in the United States. In a front-page story last Friday, The Washington Post quotes White House officials as saying that the administration intends to push aggressively for the partial privatization of social security, the expansion of tax cuts for the rich, and limits on the amount of money that injured individuals can recover through lawsuits. (...) The campaign of lies and distortions to create the impression that social security is in imminent danger of collapse started early and at the very top with the president's radio address this Saturday, in which Bush raised the specter of the bankruptcy of social security. What is bankrupt is the administration's credibility; social security has been a fantastically successful program that has assured a dignified old age for tens of millions of Americans who otherwise might have ended up destitute. And a plethora of experts agrees that the problems that social security will face in the next few decades because of the aging of the population can be solved easily, for instance by collecting more social security taxes from higher income groups. But, significantly, President Bush has already rejected that solution. That's because Bush's objective is not saving social security, a program the very creation of which the Republicans fought and that is abhorred by "free market" ideologues because its success and popularity belies their central anti-government dogma. 2001 Memo Reveals Push for Broader Presidential Powers (18 December 2004)
Justice Department lawyer may have been laying the groundwork for the Iraq invasion long before it was discussed publicly by the White House. Just two weeks after the September 11 attacks, a secret memo to White House counsel Alberto Gonzales' office concluded that President Bush had the power to deploy military force "preemptively" against any terrorist groups or countries that supported them - regardless of whether they had any connection to the attacks on the World Trade Towers or the Pentagon. The memo, written by Justice Department lawyer John Yoo, argues that there are effectively "no limits" on the president's authority to wage war - a sweeping assertion of executive power that some constitutional scholars say goes considerably beyond any that had previously been articulated by the department. We Americans talk of 'Peace on earth,' but our actions speak louder than words (12-14-03)
Now we are in the season of Christmas. Celebrations are being held, carols are being sung and prayers are being prayed (not to mention consumers going amok and Atkins dieters falling off the wagon). And in this season many of us honor the birth of Jesus of Nazareth. I have heard those who proclaim that this is a nation founded on Christian principles. I have heard President Bush assert that Jesus is his favorite philosopher. But when we look at where our government, in our names, puts its attention and a massive portion of its resources-implementing a strategy of preemptively striking our theoretical foes, maintaining a formidable fighting force to assert our military pre-eminence around the world and engaging in an endless war against terrorism-can we really claim to uphold the tenets of the Prince of Peace? Some have said that you can determine your priorities by looking at your checkbook ledger. So let's look at a few of the stubs in our nation's 2002 checkbook courtesy of the Office of Management and Budget.. Military spending: $319 billion. Education: $77 billion. Transportation: $55 billion. Environment: $27 billion. HIV/AIDS: $14.7 billion. Peace Corps: $277 million. It's projected that total military spending from 2000 through the end of 2008 will amount to $3.2 trillion. A trillion here, a trillion there. Pretty soon we're talking about real money, even by government standards. CLIP Recommended by Suzanne Phillips>

U.S. and Russian Nuclear Missiles are Still on Hair-Trigger Alert (17 December 2004)
Moscow - Just after midnight, in a secret bunker outside Moscow, the warning sirens began to blare. A simple, ominous message flashed on the bunker's main control panel: Missile Attack! It was no drill. A Soviet satellite had detected five U.S. nuclear missiles inbound. The control computer ordered a counterstrike, but the bunker commander, a nerdy lieutenant colonel named Stanislav Petrov, acting on a hunch, overrode the computer and told his Kremlin superiors it was a false alarm. The Soviet brass quickly stood down their missiles, saving 100 million Americans from nuclear incineration. This brush with Armageddon happened more than two decades ago, but nuclear missiles are still on hair-trigger alert in Russia and the United States. Today, they may be even more vulnerable to an accidental or renegade launch than they were in Petrov's day. "The security of both nations should not be dependent on the heroic act or good judgment of a single individual," said Sam Nunn, the former senator from Georgia. Long active in anti-proliferation efforts such as the Nuclear Threat Initiative, Nunn is leading a campaign to persuade U.S. and Russian leaders to take their thousands of strategic nuclear warheads off hair-trigger alert, a status that remains in effect more than a decade after the Cold War ended. "The chances of a premeditated, deliberate nuclear attack have fallen dramatically," Nunn said in an interview with Knight Ridder. "But the chances of an accidental, mistaken or unauthorized nuclear attack might actually be increasing." CLIP

Official: Iran missiles pose threat to U.S. interests in Iraq (December 20, 2004)
A senior U.S. official said Iran and Syria have developed ballistic missiles that can destroy U.S. targets in Iraq as well as in nations aligned with Washington."Iran and Syria can currently reach the territory of U.S. friends and allies with their ballistic missiles," Assistant Secretary of State for Arms Control Stephen Rademaker said."Ballistic missiles from Iran can already reach some parts of Europe, and, of course, Iranian and Syrian ballistic missiles threaten our coalition forces deployed in the Middle East," he said. The United States has also been examining the deployment of ground-based interceptor launchers and forward-based radars in states adjacent to the Middle East, according to a report by Middle East Newsline.Rademaker told a missile defense conference by the Washington-based American Foreign Policy Council that both countries have received significant assistance from North Korea, which has sought to sell complete missile systems to the Middle East.Iran is developing space launch vehicles as a building block for an intercontinental ballistic missile which could be completed within a few years, he said on Dec. 17. "These systems could be ready for flight-testing in the middle to latter-part of the decade," Rademaker said.Rademaker said North Korea was achieving self-sufficiency in developing and producing ballistic missiles and sought to sell such missiles to the Middle East. He said the missile threat to U.S. interests in the Middle East could grow significantly if Pyongyang sells what he termed longer-range ballistic missiles. CLIP

India-Pakistan 'Flashpoint' Has Not Faded Away (Dec 21)
(...) The flashpoint will not fade away so long as nuclear-capable missiles of India and Pakistan remain deployed against each other. It will not, so long as missiles of the two countries stay on hair-trigger alert. It will not, so long as nuclear warheads are not separated from delivery systems. South Asia stays a flashpoint when Pakistan's President General Pervez Musharraf sneers that "only a madman" can expect his country's nuclear weapons program to be weakened under him. The danger remains dire, when India's Prime Minister talks, in characteristically soft tones but unexpectedly undemocratic terms, of the need for "continuity and consensus" in the country's nuclear policy. The flashpoint cannot fade away while his government thus affirms its commitment to the policy of nuclear militarism that his far-right predecessors imposed on India. CLIP

We are being presented with an opportunity over the next couple of weeks to impact whether or not our country will be increasing or decreasing the amount of plutonium bomb-making activities taking place in California. The DOE (Department of Energy) is going to be releasing the final "Site Wide Environmental Impact Statement" for Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in early 2005. This document will contain the final decision about whether this laboratory will increasing or decreasing its plutonium bomb-making activities. THIS IS A VERY, VERY, VERY IMPORTANT TIME TO BE SENDING COMMENTS TO THE DOE. Major expansions of nuclear weapons programs are being considered, including a proposal to more than double the plutonium limit at the site to 3,300 pounds. However, at the same time, the DOE is also actually considering whether to remove all current plutonium from the site for security purposes ! This is due, in large part, to a recent report by the Government Accountability Office which raised some very serious concerns about the security of the plutonium that is currently being stored at the site.HOPEFULLY, THE ISSUES RAISED IN THIS REPORT WILL BE PAID ATTENTION TO BY THE DOE & KEPT IN MIND AS THEY MAKE THEIR DECISION.Please express yourself to them!As the caretakers of our country's energy issues, the DOE (Dept. Of Energy) really needs to be encouraged to make a wise decision. HERE IS AN EASY WAY TO SEND COMMENTS:
(This is an easily-editable form letter that can sent to the DOE directly from the site) Producing more bomb-making materials in Livermore obviously presents various risks such as: 1- making the lab a terrorist target; 2- leaving the surrounding areas vulnerable to environmental releases from accidents or routine operations; 3- increasing serious ongoing health risks to the surrounding population; 4- inspiring other countries to follow suit and increase their stockpiles of nuclear materials. The DOE needs to be reminded of these things, as well ... However i am putting my main energies into actually ENCOURAGING them to stop the production of plutonium ... How truly momentous it is that they are actually considering doing this !!!!! Written and sent on Dec 17 by Eileen Greene>

Bush Looking at Freezing Domestic Spending

Guarding the Guardians of Peace (Dec 17)
(...) Recently, the United Nations has found its backbone and challenged U.S. policy. In September, U.N. Secretary General Kofi Annan, somewhat belatedly, called the war on Iraq "illegal." And he sent Bush a letter counseling against the recent attack on Fallujah. This prompted some Republican members of the House of Representatives to call for Annan's resignation. The ostensible reason: corruption in the administration of Iraq's Oil for Food Programme from 1996 to 2003. "It's payback time for the U.N.," a Bush administration official told the Los Angeles Times, on condition of anonymity. "The bills are coming due for the U.N.'s noncooperation on Iraq, and the oil-for-food scandal is red meat for the U.N.'s critics." But the oil-for-food excuse was a red herring. The Oil for Food Programme was created by a vote of the Security Council. Through it, Iraq sold about $65 billion worth of oil to buy food and medicine for the Iraqi people, to soften the harsh impact of the sanctions imposed to keep Saddam Hussein from rearming after the 1991 Gulf War. The programme was micromanaged by the Council, particularly the United States. The U.S. scrutinized every purchase, holding up contracts for months, or even years. However, when overland oil was illegally smuggled to Jordan and Turkey, two favored U.S. allies, the United States quietly closed its eyes, according to the report of Charles Duelfer, the top U.S. investigator in Iraq. ChevronTexaco and ExxonMobil have been subpoenaed by the Securities and Exchange Commission to determine whether they paid kickbacks or bribes to unlawfully profit from Iraq's oil under the programme. Moreover, earlier this week, an audit board set up by the Security Council to monitor oil sales in Iraq during the U.S.-led occupation found widespread mismanagement, faulty metering of how much oil was being pumped, and noncompetitive bidding procedures that awarded more than $10 billion in contracts to Halliburton's subsidiary, Kellogg Brown & Root. When Republicans began gunning for Annan's neck, former South African president Nelson Mandela and Archbishop Desmond Tutu called the campaign against Annan "reprehensible and unjust," saying it reflected American arrogance. They wrote, in an open letter: "Those who call for his resignation betray the objectivity his position as secretary general demands and regard the United Nations as a mouthpiece to extol and exonerate the policies of the United States of America, right or wrong." Oil for Food: What's the Real Scandal? (Dec 17)

A Flood of Troubled Soldiers Is in the Offing, Experts Predict (Dec 16)
WASHINGTON - The nation's hard-pressed health care system for veterans is facing a potential deluge of tens of thousands of soldiers returning from Iraq with serious mental health problems brought on by the stress and carnage of war, veterans' advocates and military doctors say. An Army study shows that about one in six soldiers in Iraq report symptoms of major depression, serious anxiety or post-traumatic stress disorder, a proportion that some experts believe could eventually climb to one in three, the rate ultimately found in Vietnam veterans. Because about one million American troops have served so far in the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan, according to Pentagon figures, some experts predict that the number eventually requiring mental health treatment could exceed 100,000. (...) What was planned as a short and decisive intervention in Iraq has become a grueling counterinsurgency that has put American troops into sustained close-quarters combat on a scale not seen since the Vietnam War. Psychiatrists say the kind of fighting seen in the recent retaking of Falluja - spooky urban settings with unlimited hiding places; the impossibility of telling Iraqi friend from Iraqi foe; the knowledge that every stretch of road may conceal an explosive device - is tailored to produce the adrenaline-gone-haywire reactions that leave lasting emotional scars. And in no recent conflict have so many soldiers faced such uncertainty about how long they will be deployed. Veterans say the repeated extensions of duty in Iraq are emotionally battering, even for the most stoical of warriors. CLIP

The Voice of the White House
December 18, 2004: “The axe is being sharpened for Rummy. Why? Arrogant at the wrong time and place. Bush’s hatchet man, your basic arrogant bully with power. Rummy is not stupid but like the others, wears blinders. Yes, he approved torture and other nasty business but he was acting on Bush’s orders. Bush keeps him in office because Bush can rely on him and if Rummy talked, Bush would be charged with war crimes. One hand washes the other. But, Rummy is antagonizing everyone and Congress is getting testy. Also, his cavalier attitude towards his troops is not doing anyone any good. Complaints to Congressmen, especially before the mid-terms, are always effective. Sooner or later, Congress, Republicans and Democrats (with the exception of fanatics like the weird Frist and DeLay) will find it more advantageous to take care of their own careers instead of building up black points being Bush’s Reichstag. If George keeps up his idiot games, look for a procedural revolt in Congress…just enough to let the Perez know that he does not own Congress. No, Rummy will go and some of us hope he will be so pissed off that he will leak out some very bad things about Bush. Rummy is a saint compared with the loonie Congoleesa Rice but she kisses the Bush ass often and passionately and, unless she tries to unilaterally invade Russia, her pet hate, she will have to get well into the term before she makes so many gaffes that she, too, has to be tossed out….As far as Iraq is concerned, there is real trouble brewing insofar as morale is concerned. Desertions, faked mental problems, “accidental” gunshot wounds to feet, etc. are way up and rising. Falling, on the other hand, are recruitments. The peasants are screaming that very aggressive recruiters are doing everything but kidnapping their teenaged sons and we will hear more about this blatant business before much longer. The Likudists are panting for a draft but they are living in some dream world of the kind inhabited by people divorced from any kind of pragmatic reality. They want a draft to realize their dreams of an Imperial America (who will protect Mother Israel against all comers) who is intended to replace the now-defunct British and Roman Empires. These miserable creatures remind me of the dwarves in the Ring series of Wagner or the creatures in the Tolkien books. When you lift up the rock, they squirm in the light. No one elected them yet they are implementing a foreign policy that will cost many young Americans their lives and their health.”

Ending the War
There are many good reasons to oppose the occupation of Iraq, from the mounting casualties to the bankrupting of our economy to the increased anti-American feelings it has engendered. But there is one really compelling reason to call for the withdrawal of our troops: the Iraqis want us to leave.A survey of Iraqis sponsored by the U.S. Coalition Provisional Authority in May 2004 showed that most Iraqis say they would feel safer if U.S. forces left immediately. An overwhelming majority of 80 percent also said they have "no confidence" in either the U.S.civilian authorities or military forces. If we really believe in democracy, then we should listen to the desire of the majority of the Iraqi people. Our demands as a peace movement should be for the U.S.government to make a commitment to withdraw our troops by the end of 2005 at the latest; pledge that we will not maintain permanent bases in Iraq; and commit to ending the war profiteering by U.S. companies so that Iraqis have the opportunity to rebuild their owncountry. So how do we build a peace movement that can put forward these demands in an effective way? Here are some practical things we can do. CLIP

The Environment in Serious Trouble (Full speech by retiring Bill Moyer)
Excerpts of his speech in Miami Herald
Recommended by Fred Burks> who wrote: "You may have heard that Bill Moyers is retiring from three decades of TV journalism. He was most renowned for his incisive program Now on CBS. Below are moving excerpts from a speech he gave shortly after announcing his retirement. Parts of the speech were even reported in the Miami Herald, though sadly no other media gave coverage. Moyers' thought-provoking words are well worth consideration. Did you know that, as he mentions, one-third of all Americans are eagerly anticipating the apocalypse and return of Christ. The best-selling Left Behind book series is a clear example of this. Not in the least wanting to infringe on anyone's beliefs, I agree with Moyers that it is the consequences of these beliefs on our environment that are most concerning. Please help to spread the word on this most important matter."

U.S. Fails in Bid to Kill Off Kyoto Process (19 December 2004)
Governments from around the world yesterday narrowly succeeded in keeping the international bid to combat catastrophic global warming alive, in the face of determined attempts by the re-elected Bush administration to kill it off. Top negotiators described the effort - at a special UN conference in Buenos Aires - as like hanging on to a cliff face by their "fingernails", as the United States and oil-producing countries threw rock after rock to try to dislodge them. More than 36 hours after the conference was supposed to have ended - following two all-night negotiating sessions, and while workmen were physically dismantling the facilities around them - delegates finally agreed on a series of compromises that avoided complete breakdown and kept some life in the negotiations. The U.S. said that "on balance" it was "very pleased with the outcome", but its obdurate obstruction of even anodyne proposals at the two-week conference bodes ill for the future of the talks, which are designed to hammer out the next tough steps to be taken after the Kyoto Protocol runs its course in 2012. It will also sharply increase the pressure on Tony Blair, who has committed himself to making progress on combating global warming - and involving the U.S. in the effort - one of the key priorities for his leadership of the G8 group of the world's most powerful countries next year. Even before the cliff-hanger conference, Downing Street was increasingly at a loss about how it was going to fulfil the worldwide expectations raised by the Prime Minister in two high-profile speeches this year on what he describes as "long term, the single most important issue facing the global community". Mystery Martian 'Carwash' Helps Space Buggy (22 Dec 2004)
LONDON (Reuters) - An unexplained phenomenon akin to a space-borne car wash has boosted the performance of one of the two U.S. rovers probing the surface of Mars, New Scientist magazine said on Tuesday. It said something -- or someone -- had regularly cleaned layers of dust from the solar panels of the Mars Opportunity vehicle while it was closed down during the Martian night. The cleaning had boosted the panels' power output close to their maximum 900 watt-hours per day after at one stage dropping to 500 watt-hours because of the heavy Martian dirt. By contrast, the power output of the solar panels of Mars Spirit -- on a different part of the Red Planet -- had dropped to just 400 watt-hours a day, clogged by the heavy dust. "These exciting and unexplained cleaning events have kept Opportunity in really great shape," the magazine quoted NASA (news - web sites) rover team leader Jim Erickson as saying.

Mobile Phone Radiation Harms DNA
REUTERS - Radio waves from mobile phones harm body cells and damage DNA in laboratory conditions, according to a new study majority-funded by the European Union, researchers said on Monday. The so-called Reflex study, conducted by 12 research groups in seven European countries, did not prove that mobile phones are a risk to health but concluded that more research is needed to see if effects can also be found outside a lab. The $100 billion a year mobile phone industry asserts that there is no conclusive evidence of harmful effects as a result of electromagnetic radiation. About 650 million mobile phones are expected to be sold to consumers this year, and over 1.5 billion people around the world use one. . . After being exposed to electromagnetic fields that are typical for mobile phones, the cells showed a significant increase in single and double-strand DNA breaks. The damage could not always be repaired by the cell. DNA carries the genetic material of an organism and its different cells. "There was remaining damage for future generation of cells," said project leader Franz Adlkofer. CLIP

Techno-Tithe: Church Implants Microchips in Members' Right Hands (December 15, 2004)
CROCKETT'S BLUFF, AR – In a startling collision of modern technology and ministry, Crockett's Bluff Community Church is the first known church in America to use Logitech's biochip technology to receive its weekly tithes and offerings. According to last year's church theme - "Be ID'd With CBCC in '03" - the congregation of 15,782 outfitted each member of its flock with a subdermal microchip in the right hand. The device, smaller than a mustard seed, contains the banking information of each worshipper and is scanned by an usher as he or she enters the sanctuary. (...) Terry Whisnant, 32, is pragmatic about the whole thing. "I do all my banking online anyway. The chip is just another convenience for me - it's one less thing to think about at church. Besides, Jesus tells us when we give we shouldn't let the left hand know what the right hand is doing. I can't think of a more perfect application of that verse." CLIP

The Perils Of Electropollution
THE HIDDEN HAND ON THE SWITCH: MILITARY USES OF THE ELECTROMAGNETIC SPECTRUM. (...) The production of cognitive and behavioral alterations by HPM is a sledgehammer effect in comparison to the subtle alterations produced by ELF fields. According to a 1982 air force review of biotechnology, ELF has a number of potential military uses, including 'dealing with terrorist groups, crowd control, controlling breaches in security at military installations, and antipersonnel techniques in tactical warfare.' The same report states, '[Electromagnetic] systems would be used to produce mild to severe physiological disruption or perceptual distortion or disorientation. They are silent, and countermeasures to them may be difficult to develop.' It would appear that the military may yet be able to completely control the minds of the civilian population. .... In my opinion, the military establishment still believes that the survival of the military organism is worth the sacrifice of the lives and health of large segments of the American population." The capacity to use electromagnetic fields to target and manipulate the minds of individuals, cannot be expressed more plainly than in the above last couple of paragraphs.

Ask Senator Barbara Boxer to Stand Up and Support an Election Investigation
Questions are swirling around whether the election was conducted honestly or not. We need to know -- was it or wasn't it? The recount is getting nothing but obstructionism from Kerry, the Skull & Bones member with Bush. But this recount is for The American People, not for Kerry. When Congress reconvenes in January, at least 14 members of the House of Representatives will challenge the validity of the 2004 election. They will request an immediate investigation into many problems and irregularities encountered in the election. According to the Electoral Count Act of 1887, one senator and one House Representative are required to contest an election prior to inauguration. We have the representatives; we still need a senator. Please let Senator Barbara Boxer know that we want her to be that senator. The signed petitions will be delivered to her in person by a coalition of representatives from a variety of concerned organizations and individuals. Join us in encouraging Senator Boxer :

Subject: AGAINST THE HOUSE - Whither the Republic?

Only Chumps and Compulsive Gamblers Keep On Playing in a Rigged Game

By James Heddle

As the Bush Machine rolls on -- through Orwellian "Patriot" Acts, Intelligence "Reforms" and "Clear Skies" Initiatives, adding treason to treason, felony to felony, unconstitutional domestic acts to violations of international law, "crimes against all humankind" to crimes against the biosphere; as it authorizes torture, domestic surveillance, and terms the Geneva Convention "quaint" -- progressive pundits waffle on with exhortations to hopefulness, ideological mea culpas, adjurations to linguistic reframing, advocating emulations of the right, and statistical analyses based on flawed polling and fraudulent vote counts, I find myself wondering: How long are these people going to keep on playing in a rigged game?

The grassroots democratic drama of the 21st century is unfolding in Ohio (not to mention New Mexico, Nevada, and oh yes, the Ukraine), blacked out by the same pusillanimous establishment media that went along with alleged Iraqi WMDs and al qaeda links; blacked out the CIA's role in bringing crack cocaine to the country's ghettos (and apparently drove rare honest journalist Gary Webb to an alleged "two-shot suicide"); and ignored by the flaccid, complicit and supine DNC, Kerry/Edwards camp and Congress. They're all acting exactly like the collusive wife in an abusive relationship.

The progressive strategists and operatives prattle on about the "White Elephant" of the "race factor" in the 2004 election (duh!), but no one seems to notice the gaggle of 500-pound gorillas sitting in the corner of the national living room. Please, look at the data, citizens. The election was stolen -- just like in 2000, 2002 and so many more before. The system is rigged. Don't get over it; get with it! You can't win in a rigged game. Stop playing. Change the game.

As that great American political sage, W. C. Fields put it, "There comes a time when we must seize the bull firmly by the tail and stare the situation squarely in the face." There's not enough space here to do more than summarize the growing mountain of evidence that supports the rigged game conclusion. The historic Conyers Committee is piling it up as we speak. It's easy to find. If you haven't already, google "vote fraud," citizen. Read it and weep. The incriminating facts are readily available all over the Internet and the "alternative media."

Please, don't be like my friend, a staunch Kerry volunteer, who hasn't looked at the Ohio story because he reads the New York Times, watches the News Hour and dismisses all contrary data a priori as the delusions of the "chattering class," "paranoid conspiracy theorists" and "whining losers." The fact is, he doesn't want to know. His whole political paradigm would fall apart like it did when he found out there's no Santa Claus.

But, to grasp the bull - even timorously - by the tail: the Voting Integrity Project ( ) points to ten factors that must lead any fair person to question the "official" tally and insist upon an objective recount:

1. Systematic, Widespread Voting Machine Irregularities
2. Highly Irregular Intervention by Federal Authorities
3. Impossible Vote Totals ( Some with a 1-in-250,000 chance of being accurate, according to expert statisticians! )
4. Openly Partisan Election Officials
5. Openly Partisan and Untrustworthy Vendors of Election Machinery
6. Unexplained Exit Poll Disparities ( Exit polls were correct where there was a paper trail and incorrect (+5% for Bush) where there was no paper trail. )
7. Unreliable and Inadequate Numbers of Voting Equipment in Poor and Working Class (non-Republican) Areas
8. Anomalous and Atypical Voting Pattern Changes from 2000 to 2004
9. Uncounted Ballots, Double Un-matching Sets of Tally Tapes and Uncooperative Officials in Many Areas
10. Widespread Illegal Voter Suppression Activities

Susan Truitt, of the Citizens Alliance for Secure Election ( ), one of the plaintiffs in one of the several suits being brought in Ohio to challenge the tally, has stated that, with just the verified irregularities and violations her organization has documented, the election plainly goes to Kerry. The 20 Ohio Electors who voted for Bush did so with zero legitimacy and a second Bush term based on their vote will be equally illegitimate. Think about that for a minute. If this is not a constitutional crisis, I don't know what is.

All power to Badnarik and Cobb and Arnebeck and Truitt and Fitrakis and Bonifaz and Conyers and Waters and Jackson and Curtis and Harris and all those brave citizens contesting the highly dubious tally in Ohio, Florida and elsewhere. With a judiciary stacked against them all the way to the same Supreme Court that perpetrated the first Bush coup in 2000, their chances of successfully litigating and reversing the outcome, having it recognized by the judiciary, the Congress, the corporate media - not to mention the Bush regime itself - will be a political accomplishment of miraculous proportions and will no doubt require a Ukraine-scale turnout of the citizenry to make it stick. May it be so!

However, failing a successful judicial, political, congressional and popular revolt, we are dealing, for the indefinite future, with a fascist, theocratic police state - and I use the terms precisely, not rhetorically. ("Fascism should more properly be called "corporatism,' since it is the marriage of government and corporate power," said Mussolini, who ought to know.) Making Howard Dean head of the DNC and commissioning George Lakoff to "reframe" the party's "message" and PR material would be a necessary, but hardly sufficient response.

A political system more crooked than a Las Vegas casino cannot qualify as a "democracy," much less as the "leader of the free world." And those who continue to play in it look to me like conscious or unconscious colluders, or just plain chumps. Until you accurately diagnose and acknowledge the disease, you cannot even begin to cure it.

And the disease we're dealing with - as originally diagnosed by that astute political physician Swami Beyondananda - is "Electile Dysfunction" complicated by advancing "Truth Decay."

The beginning of the cure, (necessary, but not sufficient), as prescribed by political healers, like the ladies of Code Pink and other groups, is enactment of a Voters' Bill of Rights: to wit:

1. Provide a Voter Verified Paper Trail for Touch-Screen Voting Machines
2. Create Independent, Non-Partisan and Transparent Oversight
3. Celebrate Our Democracy: Election Day as a National Holiday!
4. Maximize Voter Access
5. Count Every Vote!
6. Re-enfranchise Ex-Felons
7. Implement Instant Runoff Voting (IRV)
8. Provide Public Financing for Elections and Equal Air-Time
9. Ensure Third Party Candidates Easier Access to the Ballot and Debates
10. Abolish the Electoral College ( Sign on at: )

My simple point is this - until a majority of progressive activists and intellectual opinion-makers drop the delusions and cop to the fact that we are playing in a game intentionally and adroitly rigged against us, we will not win, we will not govern, we will not be prepared to govern, because we will not deserve to govern. Good losers -- like John "Quick Concession" Kerry and the "professional losers" of the DNC -- will predictably go on losing. Just like the chain-smoking, gin-sipping, polyester-clad grandma pumping endless quarters into the slot machine.

"I don't have that much time here in Washington," Bush told a White House "economic summit" the other day. If this really is a nation of laws, he should have a lot less time than he thinks. ( Yes, citizens. We must dare to think such thoughts, if we are to be worthy of Jefferson, Franklin and Paine. )

There's a "Block Bush Constitutional Insurrection" rally and demo being organized by from 10am - 4pm, January 6, at Upper Senate Park, Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. when the electoral college vote is delivered to Congress. The Ohio recount will be done by then. We should have learned enough from the lawsuits and investigations to know the truth. Got democracy? See you there.

Press Release

Electors across US break traditional pro forma ritual to use electoral college to protest election violations

Across the US, electors in at least five states, for the first time in history, turned the heavily scripted and ritualized electoral college proceedings into a forum for political action. Frustrated by the relative inattention to widespread real voting violations now numbering in the tens of thousands, Electors called for congressional investigation and legislative action.

Vermont electors, on the record and in front of TV cameras and a number of statewide media outlets, expressed their concerns for our democracy with "57,000 complaints already received by the Congressional Judiciary Committee, we call on Congress and especially our Vermont Congressional delegation to investigate." They enumerated credible violations affecting hundreds of thousands of voters across the US, Elector Jeffrey Taylor reports.

Opening the traditional statement of thanks for being introduced at the beginning of the Massachusetts Electoral College 2004 session, Elector Cathleen Ashton of Wayland, took the opportunity to demand "Every vote be counted and every vote count."

As described in local news reports, for the first time in history, Electors in Maine also went on the record using the voting process to "call for national voting reforms." Their statement pointed to the kind of electoral reforms Maine has that lead to more genuine elections, such as same day registration, allowing ex-felons to vote, and clean election reforms "but our four electoral votes are held meaningless if our sister states cannot hold elections that are fair, accurate and verifiable," Elector Lu Bauer said after the brief ceremony at the State House.

Most extraordinarily, one elector in California cast his ballot provisional upon "all votes being counted" provisional, absentee, under- and overvotes, computerized without paper ballots, even getting valid votes from those turned away illegally, intimidated, discouraged by incredibly long waits, etc." This incredible act as a creative attempt to get this message read on the floor of Congress when they open the ballots on January 6 to consider whether to certify the vote.

"Never has such a vote been cast by an elector and without a parliamentarian to rule it in or out at the electoral college level, we await whether Congress will acknowledge this type of provisional vote and address the issues this elector sought to raise or whether they too will ignore provisional votes," said Grace Ross, an organizer of the national effort to support electors to take action and a member of Truth in Elections.

Even in North Carolina where lack of "swing state" status left local voting violations relatively invisible, Democratic Electors and local activists spoke out about local problems while Republican Electors voted inside. Elector Mary Roe spoke of problems she herself witnessed as an election observer in her own county as well as saying that "everyone deserves to have their votes counted" while deploring the 4,500 votes NC election officials acknowledged disappeared in a computerized voting machine crash.

Massachusetts Electors who introduced the motion said they will use this to lobby Congressional members to take action now such as objecting to the vote. The motion passed by acclamation called on Congress to: "Act to commit Congress to investigate all voting complaints that might have any validity that they receive; Act to commit Congress to remedy any voting rights violations or electoral fraud verified by its own agents or through the courts; File in Congress and commit their resources to passage of systemic remedies."

In speaking at their Mass. press conference afterwards, one Elector, Tom Barbera, spoke of personally having his life threatened during get-out-the-vote efforts. Another spoke of being targeted for intimidation such as being immediately accosted as an African American entering a Florida polling place by whites telling her "your kind is not wanted here", "we don't want your kind voting here", "leave"; such threatening behavior meant as get-out-the-vote volunteers they frequently had to follow intimidated voters of color out of polling places and convince them to reenter and agree to accompany them through the voting process..

Tom Barbera, in presenting the Massachusetts' Electoral College motion, acknowledging that many whose voting rights violations were most widely violated were African American, referenced the Civil Rights struggle in saying "we believe that as electors, we have a unique opportunity and obligation to ensure that justice does not again become so delayed as to be denied (as happened in 2000)" (END)

Global assistance needed for lawsuit to kill draconian EU vitamin laws
Audrey has multiple sclerosis. High dose vitamins gave her back her life. Now Brussels, the UN’s Codex Alimentarius Commission (and the world’s ‘FDA’s’) want to ban them, and push all innovative dietary supplements through a torturous regulatory process designed to force them off the market so they can no longer compete with pharmaceutical prescription drugs. The immediate assistance of vitamin companies, health food stores, and consumers is badly needed to help fund a lawsuit being spearheaded by the UK’s Alliance for Natural Health which has global implications. This lawsuit must be filed by Mid-October. ANH warns that we must get Europe to harmonize to the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act of 1994, otherwise, the USA will be forced to harmonize to the EU’s mindlessly restrictive vitamin standards. (...) The bad news is that in July of this year, unless a challenge is made to overturn the EU Food Supplements Directive (which passed into EU law on June 10, 2002), the draconian EU Food Supplements Directive (FSD) will be forcibly transposed into the national laws of all EU member states including England, Ireland, Netherlands and Sweden which presently have relatively liberal vitamin laws not unlike those of the USA. If the EU gets its way, the railroad tracks will be laid to AUSCHWITZ, not only for people in England, but for vitamin consumers worldwide because of the way this threatens to impact us via harmonization. The FSD currently addresses only vitamins and minerals by creating a very restrictive positive list of "allowed" ingredients, and banning all others; but by not later than 2007 the EU is obliged to provide detailed proposals to expand the FSD to cover all other types of nutrients - again allowing limited ingredients stipulated on inevitably restrictive positive lists. This incremental attack on food supplements is difficult to stop, and most supplement companies have simply gone along with the advice from their pharmaceutically-dominated trade associations and believe they have no option other than reformulation.. This means taking out all the most bio-available vitamins and minerals and substituting them for less bio-available and often potentially more toxic forms better suited to the pharmaceutical industry-affiliated supplement companies. In other cases, entire minerals would need to be removed (such as boron, sulphur, vanadium) as these will be disallowed altogether under the new EU law! And who loses out? (...) If dietary supplements could be likened to computers, the effect of the FSD is analogous to banning any microprocessor more powerful than a 286. Do you want to use any form of Pentium? Too bad! They’ve been BANNED! The Cartel has decided dietary supplements are harmful to their profits, and they WILL take them away unless we act! All of the vitamin trade associations world- wide are controlled from the top-down by pharmaceutical interests which are leading the whole industry to the cliff. For this reason, the estimated 20% percent of the supplement industry manufacturing the most innovative products MUST come to the aid of consumers by backing the Alliance for Natural Health’s lawsuit, which MUST be filed by Mid-October! CLIP

2 Press Releases Announcing ANH Lawsuit- First by ISS, Second by ANH (Oct 16)
What follows are two press releases announcing the ANH lawsuit to overturn the EU Food Supplement Directive. While we have succeeded in generating sufficient donations to get the lawsuit introduced, its going to take a sustained effort over the next two years to generate additional donations necessary to sustain it and to see it through to a successful completion. (...) WHY WILL THE BAN HAVE CATASTROPHIC EFFECTS ON THE FOOD SUPPLEMENTS INDUSTRY?There is a growing deterioration in the UK diet bought about by the economic pressure of big business and the advertising of fast food. The decreasing nutritional quality of the average diet along with the increasing exposure to toxins make the role of nutrition, including use of supplements, of paramount importance in healthcare in order to address the growing incidence of degenerative diseases like heart disease, cancer, diabetes and osteoporosis to mention but a few. The ban will have the effect of making it much more difficult for anyone concerned about their health and diet to supplement it with a range of products which have been consumed and sold for years without any health risk. The second impact of the ban is that many small companies who research into, produce and market these safe and effective food supplements will be unable to sell them without investing huge sums of money in proving their safety – despite the fact that we have been consuming many of the food-forms of nutrients to be banned in many cases for hundreds of years with no known health risk. Health Freedom takes a double hit at CODEX (November 04, 2004)

Codex Guidelines for Vitamin and Mineral Supplements: The Controversy Continues
During the first week of November the so-called ‘Codex Committee on Nutrition and Foods for Special Dietary Uses’ (CCNFSDU) met again in Bonn, Germany to discuss their controversial Guidelines for Vitamin and Mineral Supplements. As widely predicted the Committee agreed to complete their deliberations on this occasion and to advance the Guidelines for adoption at Step 8, which is effectively the final stage in the process. As a result of this decision the Guidelines will now be considered at a meeting of the Codex Alimentarius Commission, due to take place in Rome in July 2005, in order for the text to be ratified and adopted as a newly agreed global standard. (...) The Guidelines that were passed in Bonn will not immediately ban natural therapies and Cellular Medicine however. Because of the tremendous opposition to these Guidelines the text that was agreed in Bonn this year is only a ‘framework’ document, and will not set any of the more controversial aspects of the Guideline that the Codex Alimentarius Commission would originally like to have had included. For example, the maximum levels to be permitted in vitamin and mineral supplements will now be set separately at a later, currently unspecified, date. Similarly, and unlike the EU Food Supplements Directive, the Guideline does not contain a list of permitted nutrient sources (the so-called ‘positive list’) and nor was any language added to the text this year to allow for the later addition of such a list. As such, the Codex Alimentarius Commission are clearly hoping that consumers will be lulled into a false sense of security when they learn that the completed Guidelines for Vitamin and Mineral Supplements will not immediately ban natural therapies and Cellular Medicine. Nevertheless it is now clear that the overall plan is to add the most controversial aspects of the vitamin and mineral restrictions one step at a time, in the hope that if the Codex Alimentarius Commission proceeds slowly enough consumers will not be roused into any significant forms of opposition until it is too late. December 19, 2004

This reporter has observed what many others have been complaining about for several years - an unusual decorating of our local sky with chemtrails. This incident took place on October 30, 2004 in Sacramento, California. The morning dawned beautiful and the sky was clear blue without even a hint of cloud cover. From 9:30 am until noon, two planes high in the sky began crisscrossing the sky leaving huge chemtrails in their wake. South to north and then east to west. By noon, the entire sky for as far as one could observe, the entire Sacramento area was then overcast without a speck of blue to be seen.

One has to wonder why two airplanes would spend several hours flying over a major metropolitan area turning clear blue skies into dreary, gray-white that made the air feel like it was hanging right over your head like a brick? Many concerned citizens have been researching this issue for years and while many may write this off as conspiracy theories with people who have nothing better to do with their time, the issue might deserve a deeper look.

Rose Stevens, Director of Vaccine Safety Concerns for the Common Cause Medical Research Foundation and Director of Research for the Eagle Foundation, recently stated, "In our last Journal of Degenerative Diseases our cover page had pictures of the Chemtrails--(I am not off topic--because this deals with vaccines--keep reading). The article below is from a scientist who thinks he knows why they are spraying them and how the flu vaccine is involved in the plan. Now many of you are going to tune this out immediately and say "there she goes again with her conspiracy theories again" . However consider this-- Does it not seem odd that every where you go they are advertising and giving flu vaccines. You have to ask yourself--why?? And what are they spraying in our atmosphere?

The article Ms. Stevens refers to contains material written by a retired government scientist with an advanced degree in one of the health-related disciplines. Unfortunately, this author wishes to remain anonymous. He has expressed fear for his life and his family, which always raises a problem with verifying information. Below are a few paragraphs from this retired scientist for informational purposes only.

"This whole chemtrail issue is related to the plan for decreasing the world population to around 450-500 million -- and starting with the US first. Why? The people of the US are the only ones with even the remotest chance of stopping this. That is, if they knew about it. That's why the US has to be the first to go. You have to understand that the world's elite covet the US for its geographic diversity - and they would love to return this country to its condition as it existed prior to Columbus setting foot here, but without the Native Americans this time of course.

"You may have already heard how several national parks have been designated as world biospheres - that's the plan for all of North America, a giant nature park and playground that will be devoid of annoying human beings (that would be us). And the people actually involved in doing the spraying, as well as those who will take part in the rest of the plans, are being duped into believing they will be spared, that is, permitted to live and remain on this continent as administrators and caretakers of this vast nature preserve. I understand that about 150 to 200 thousand people are projected as necessary for maintenance purposes. But it's likely these people will not be Americans. Those in charge wouldn't want to risk the possibility of some sort of revolt, so the workers will probably be brought in from Europe and Asia.

"There are rumors floating about the internet that the chemtrails are part of some sort of secret program the government is doing to protect the US from future biological attacks. Nothing could be further from the truth. The plan is to sensitize, or condition, the US population to being wiped out by influenza A. Over the past few years, people have been encouraged to get flu shots to protect them against the generally non-lethal strains that circulate through the population during flu season.

"Each year the US government has guessed which strains were most likely to spread. They seem to always guess right - don't they? This flu season, the government protected people with a trivalent vaccine that included the A/Beijing/262/95-like (H1N1) and the A/Sydney/5/97-like (H3N2). It also contained the B/Beijing/184/93-like hemagglutinin antigens. For those not familiar with virology, the H and N refer to proteins on the outside of the virus, the hemagglutinin and neuraminidase, which are responsible for the virus attaching to, and then invading, a host cell. The public has been quite pleased with the success of the vaccines offered so far. But that will change in the future.

"Researchers at the US Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases (or USAMRIID) at Fort Detrick in Frederick MD have reconstructed and modified the H1N1 Spanish Flu virus, making it far more deadly than it ever was back when it was responsible for the 1918-1919 flu pandemic that killed over 20 million worldwide and over 500,000 here in the US. Consider that it could have killed many more, but back then, people couldn't hop on a jet and travel from New York to L.A. in five hours. Now, our ability to travel will increase the spread and will be our downfall.

"The flu vaccines contain killed virus and protect the body well against challenge by that particular strain, but work poorly against other strains not included in the inoculation. At some point, the vaccine stockpile will include the more lethal modification of the 1918 H1N1 in its live form. Most people receiving this vaccine will simply be renewing their annual flu shot, and the vaccine will still include the inactivated version of the more benign form of H1N1 (as was included in this year's vaccine). The presence of the milder strain in the inoculum will slow down the progression of the more lethal H1N1 form, so people will become sick more slowly - but they will still eventually die. It will just take a few weeks longer.

"In the meantime, they will be carriers for the lethal form of the virus, passing it on to everyone with whom they make contact. And as people hear that others are dropping dead from the flu, they will flock to get their own vaccination. And the entire population will be more receptive to infection because their lungs will have been pre-conditioned to guarantee it.

"If you will remember back to 1968 and '69, the Hong Kong flu, which was influenza A type H3N2, killed over 30,000 people in the U.S. alone. That was a fortuitous learning event for some because it taught them that the flu could still conceivably be used to wipe out a population. But at the same time, it pointed out the need to precondition the populace so that those who might normally be resistant could be rendered susceptible. Hence the development of the vaccine program and the aerial spraying procedures to condition the population. The purpose of the chemicals in the chemtrails is to help the viral envelope fuse with lung cells, permitting easier penetration and infection."

While all this sounds like something suitable for the Sci-fi channel, some of the world's elites have made some quirky comments about population control that many have found quite disturbing:

"Right now there are just way too many people on the planet. A total world population of 250-300 million people, a 95% decline from present levels would be ideal." Ted Turner

"If I were reincarnated, I would wish to be returned to Earth as a killer virus to lower human population levels." Prince Phillip, husband of Queen Elizabeth II, founder, World Wildlife Fund

"Human happiness and certainly human fecundity [productivity] are not as important as a wild and healthy planet. I know social scientists who remind me that people are part of nature, it isn't true. Somewhere along the line - at about a billion years ago and maybe half that - we quit the contract and became a cancer. We have become a plague upon ourselves and upon the earth....Until such time as Homo sapiens should decide to rejoin nature, some of us can only hope for the right virus to come along." David Graber, a research biologist at the National Park Service

"The distribution of birth control devices and the imposition of mandatory abortion practices in the third world countries is now ecologically insufficient and unfairly out of world social balance. The white, upper and middle class females of modern society are too healthy and fertile to be exempted from some imposed regulation of international law or mandate. An American born child is environmentally too expensive to maintain to his or her adulthood in a world economy. American women must be subjected to some manner of regulation beyond licensing or immediate and mandatory abortion practices. Unconventional and extreme measures must be implemented and enforced by global U.N. mandate as it is deemed necessary. The bodies of these world eco-criminals should be commercially yielded for reintroduction in the world's natural systemic food and nutrient chains, in order to restore a more natural biological balance and order to our Sacred Earth." -- Jacques Cousteau, in his address to the Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro, 1992.

There's no question that America's skies are being decorated every day in a very deliberate, coordinated effort (see at - pretty convincing picture!) and concerned Americans want to know if this is just more conspiracy babble or a threat to their health? This reporter has contacted members of the Sacramento State Legislature in an attempt to find out if these planes are military, civilian and what are they spraying. To date, we haven't received a single response. Efforts will continue to get some answers.

The Mountain and the Mouse

Ariel Sharon's speech at the "Herzliya Conference", an annual gathering of Israel's financial, political and academic aristocracy, proved again his wondrous ability to conjure up an imaginary world and divert attention away from the real one. Like every successful con-man, he knows that the audience desperately wants to believe good tidings and will be happy to ignore bad ones.

It was an optimistic message, as the bewitched commentators proclaimed. According to him, we are on our way to paradise, 2005 will be a year of tremendous progress in all fields and all our problems will be solved.

Most of the speech was devoted to his fabulous achievements since he launched, at the same conference a year ago, the "Unilateral Disengagement Plan".

This (in my own free translation) is what he said: America is in our pocket. President Bush supports all of Sharon's positions, including those that are diametrically opposed to Bush's own former positions. Europe has resigned itself to him. The Great of the World are standing in line to visit us, starting with Tony Blair. Egypt and the other Arab states are cosying up to us. Our international position has improved beyond recognition. The economy is advancing by leaps and bounds, our society is flourishing. Apart from the right-wing lunatic fringe, there is no opposition left. The Labor Party is joining the government and will support all its steps. (He somehow forgot to mention Yossi Beilin's Yahad party, which, too, has promised him an "iron bridge".)

Sharon has achieved all this solely by talking. His words have not been accompanied, up to now, by even one single action on the ground. There is no certainty that Sharon really intends to implement the "disengagement" at all. His intentions can be defined as follows:

(1) If it is possible to avoid the implementation of the plan altogether, especially the evacuation of settlements, without losing the sympathy of the world and the Israeli public, fine.

(2) If there is no alternative and implementation must start - everything must be done to drag out the matter, and especially the evacuation of settlements, for as long as possible. Evacuate one settlement and rest. Evacuate another one and rest again. It should take years.

(3) Either way, the disengagement should not change the plans concerning the West Bank.

And in the meantime: In the Gaza Strip, from which Sharon is supposed to "disengage", the Israeli army is in action every single day and night, killing from three to ten Palestinians every 24 hours. Houses are being destroyed wholesale. Some of the atrocities committed by the army have shocked the Israeli public. Not one single settler has been removed. On the contrary, new settlers have still been arriving.

All this does not point to any real determination to implement the promised disengagement. Sharon's actions on the West Bank, on the other hand, show a solid determination to implement his plan there.

In the West Bank, the occupation has intensified . The cruel checkpoints continue to prevent any possibility of normal life. The photo showing a Palestinian violinist compelled to play for the soldiers at a roadblock has evoked terrible memories in the minds of many Israelis. The building of the annexation-wall goes on, with a few changes of the route to placate the Israeli court, while disregarding the decision of the International Court. The settlers uproot Palestinian olive groves in order to build new neighborhoods in their place. Settlements are being expanded all over the West Bank, a network of "Jews Only" roads is being built, more "illegal" outposts come into being under army protection and with the tacit help of all relevant ministries. Plenty of money flows into these projects, while pensions are being cut and sick people lie around in the corridors of the hospitals.

Is this how a statesman with a vision of peace acts? He behaves more like a doctor who treats the hand of a patient while sticking a knife into his belly.

All this is happening while the world gives Sharon enthusiastic support, solely on the strength of his talking. As long as he holds forth on the "disengagement", he can pretty much do on the ground whatever he fancies.

David Ben-Gurion once said: "It is not important what the Gentiles say, what is important is what the Jews do." Sharon's version is: "It is not important what we say, what is important is what we do."

The most important part of the speech was the part that was not there. There was no peace offer to the Palestinians. He did not talk about peace at all.

Throughout the world, the conviction is spreading that there now exists a "window of opportunity", that this is the time for a new, redeeming peace initiative. Indeed, Sharon mentioned with great satisfaction that Yasser Arafat is dead and that there is now a chance for the emergence of a "moderate Palestinian leadership". So what did he offer this moderate leadership in his speech?

Not a thing.

He hinted vaguely at "long-term arrangements". Meaning: more interim agreements on top of the existing interim agreements, whose sole aim is to push a real peace agreement beyond the horizon. It emerges from his speech that Israel will retain forever not only the "large settlement blocks", but also "areas essential to our security". Which areas could he mean? This is well-known: the Jordan valley and the other territories designed in the Oslo agreements as "Area C". The final result of the "Disengagement Plan" will therefore be the annexation of 58% of the West Bank to Israel, as Sharon has wanted all along.

The Palestinians will retain, under this plan, 10-12% of pre-1948 Palestine, including the Gaza Strip (which is a mere 1.5% of the country). Sharon's "Palestinian State" will consist of a number of enclaves cut off from the world. That is what he means when he talks about "the end of the occupation", making "very painful concessions" and "our unwillingness to rule over another people", words that have attracted widespread admiration.

To rule out any doubt, Binyamin Netanyahu, too, outlined in his speech at the conference the future borders between us and the Palestinians: "Not the Green Line and not even close to the Green Line."

Nobody is offering the new Palestinian leadership peace negotiations. At most, some coordination of the steps leading to the withdrawal from Gaza. What else? The Minister of Defense, Shaul Mofaz, promised in his speech at the conference that the army would leave the Palestinian towns "for 72 hours" for the elections. Between roadblock and checkpoint, between one "targeted liquidation" and the next, Palestinian democracy will flourish for three days.

Sharon boasted that for all practical purposes the army has already vanquished terrorism. That was said a few days after the Palestinians, in a commando action that elicited some silent admiration even from the army, succeeded in destroying an entire army outpost on the "Philadelphi Axis" by detonating a huge amount of explosives in a tunnel dug beneath it and storming the remains. (This did not cause too much excitement in Israel, because all the five soldiers killed were Arabs, mostly Bedouin volunteers from among the state's Arab citizens.)

For the time being, the number of violent attacks on Israeli citizens has indeed fallen, but mainly because of Abu Mazen's efforts. This may well continue for some time, as long as the Palestinian public has some hope of seeing a light at the end of the tunnel. As soon as they lose this hope, they will give the green light to a new wave of attacks.

Sharon promises Israelis a wonderful year, a year of security and tranquility, economic growth and social progress. There is no chance of this coming about as long as he is blocking the road to peace and keeps the peace process "in formalin", as described by his closest advisor.

European leaders talk about making a huge donation to the Palestinian authority after the election of Abu Mazen. This is an illusion as old as Zionism itself: that the Palestinian people - or any other people fighting for its freedom, for that matter - can be bought off and will give up its land and independence for a mess of pottage.

If the money is not accompanied by a massive European intervention for the speedy termination of the occupation and the attainment of a permanent Israeli-Palestinian solution, the mountain (as the ancient saying goes) will give birth to a mouse.

The Crisis in Israel
(...) A Fake Democracy -- During the last three years we have seen many signs that the most basic democratic norms are disappearing. Arabs suspected of links with terrorism have had their Israeli citizenship taken away. Arab MKs have been stripped of their parliamentary immunity. Openly racist opinions, political programs and bills—particularly projects for ethnic cleansing of the occupied territories and of Israel itself—have gained legitimacy. This development could take place quickly, without leading to a major crisis, because Israel has always had an idiosyncratic conception of democracy. Democracy for Israelis has always been restricted to two things: predominance of the majority over the minority by means of elections and the acts of the executive branch being based on laws adopted by a parliamentary majority (AIC Special Reports, winter 1986). This is obviously a rather meager conception of democracy, which completely neglects the concept of rights. Contrary to what has often been claimed, the fact that Israel has never had a constitution is not the sole responsibility of the religious parties. The real reason is that Zionist politicians have never been capable of writing a real democratic constitution, guaranteeing equality of all citizens and fundamental rights independent of the will of the majority. Israel has always been defined not only as a Jewish state (and democratic state, according to the hallowed formula) but also as a country in a state of emergency due to several decades of war. (...) Violence is manifested not only in Israeli politics but also in everyday interactions at home and in the street. The lack of civility that has always been one of Israeli society's blemishes has mutated into sheer crudeness. While Israelis were noted in the past for their inability to say "please," "excuse me," or "thank you," today they are ready to physically attack someone who cuts ahead of them in traffic; and since they often have guns on them, such incidents sometimes end in tragedy. Psychologists and social workers are continually warning about this escalation of violence, but their warnings seem unlikely to make a difference. The whole society is sick, terribly sick. CLIP

Sept. 11 Conspiracy Theorist Offers $100,000 Prize

Wed Dec 15, 2004

By Larry Fine

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Jimmy Walter has spent more than $3 million promoting a conspiracy theory the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks on the United States were "an inside job" and he is offering more cash to anyone who proves him wrong.

The millionaire activist is so convinced of a government cover-up he is offering a $100,000 reward to any engineering student who can prove the World Trade Center buildings crashed the way the government says.

"Of course, we expect no winners," Walter, 57, heir to an $11 million fortune from his father's home building business, said in a telephone interview from California on Wednesday.

He said a panel of expert engineers would judge submissions from the students.

Next month, he also launches a nationwide contest seeking alternative theories from college and high school students about why New York's World Trade Center collapsed. The contest offers $10,000 to the best alternative theory, with 100 runner-up awards of $1,000. Winners will be chosen next June.

The World Trade Center's twin towers were destroyed after hijackers slammed two commercial airliners into them. The attack in New York killed 2,749 people.

Various official investigations give no credence to Walter's theory. A Sept. 11 commission spokesman did not return calls seeking comment.

Walter insists there had to be explosives planted in the twin towers to cause them to fall as they did, and also rejects the official explanation for the damage done at the Pentagon.

"We have all the proof," said Walter, citing videotapes and testimony from witnesses.

"It wasn't 19 screw-ups from Saudi Arabia who couldn't pass flight school who defeated the United States with a set of box cutters," he said. He dismissed the official Sept. 11 commission report, saying, "I don't trust any of these 'facts."'

Walter has spent millions of dollars to bolster support for his case, running full-page ads in The New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, The New Yorker and Newsweek, as well as alternative newspapers and
30-second TV spots.

He points to a Zogby poll he commissioned last summer that showed 66 percent of New Yorkers wanted the 9/11 investigation reopened.

Walter has spent about 30 percent of his net worth on his efforts.

"I am a patriot fighting the real traitors who are destroying our democracy. I resent it when they call me delusional," he said.

Subject: Hope in the Darkness

Dear friends,

As the days get colder and shorter, and the lies and actions of the current cabal grow in audacity daily, it is hard to be hopeful. I've spent more time organizing and being out in the streets protesting these past two months, than since the effort to prevent the current war on Iraq. This is what gives me hope, the people I meet in the streets, the ones who have caught on and are working diligently to expose the big lies of our time. I don't know how long it will take or what route lies before us, but I have "faith" in humanity's ability to grow up, see through the propaganda, and change the course of history.

We've challenged the 9-11 Commissioners, the press, and legislators... We've had a few victories; they noticed us, and have begun to ridicule and attack us... which moves us closer to "winning," I suppose. "First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, and then you win...." according to Gandhi... I had the opportunity to speak at the International Conference on the Gift Economy (, and I received a "Pink Badge of Courage" from Code Pink at their Mad Voter's Pink Tea Party recently. The 9-11 Northern California 9-11 Truth Alliance has become a project of Agape Foundation. I finally overcame my anger at Project Censored for failing to "connect the dots" sooner about 9-11, when Peter Phillips spoke recently in Palo Alto and cast much light on the stolen election, their number one story- the disparity of wealth in the world, and I read in their latest book- story #9- which covered 9-11. He inspired me to modify our Media Deception Dollar- now titled- Project for a Censored America featuring (and other good sites). We did print our eighth edition- 1,500,000 new Deception Dollars (4,500,000 are already in circulation ) in the past week, and introduced a new Election Deception Dollar (see ). Although the sites are mainly concerned with the stolen election, there is much overlap with 9-11 sites, since both were conspiracies involving the press, and backed by the same major criminals, whose agenda is opposed by the vast majority of the world.

Those who worked so hard to get rid of Bush through the electoral process are not pleased with Kerry's failure to stand up for the rights of the voters. I anticipate major demonstrations in January, and if we can break through the mainstream press barrier; there is real hope for a regime change, at the least, an opportunity to clip the neocons' wings.

There are so many documentaries, books, radio programs, television programs, being produced right now challenging the "official story."...When I was protesting the 9-11 Commissioners in SF, it dawned on me that I would not be shot in cold blood, that their strategy will be to drown out our voices with television miniseries, "the film about Richard Clarke" the bombardment of the "legend of 9-11" that they have conjured to serve their dark agenda. Speaking to Philip Zelikow, the Executive Director of the 9-11 Commission, and the presidents of ABC, NBC, and CBS, I am outraged that they can lie point blank in public, but that is their Achilles heel- they absolutely cannot answer intelligent questions which challenge their entire narrative. We'll be making more documentaries next year, and showing Barrie Zwickers- The Great Conspiracy- The 9-11 News Special You Never Saw. I hope to have the press at the event- so that they can be publicly challenged or applauded for covering or not covering the major issues of our time.

I hope you find the time to be with family and friends this season. I hope you will be refreshed and energized for the big challenges, we must face in 2005.

Wishing you good health, happiness and much courage!

West has bloodied hands

By Eric Margolis -- Contributing Foreign Editor Who was the first high government official to authorize use of mustard gas against rebellious Kurdish tribesmen in Iraq?

If your answer was Saddam Hussein's cousin, the notorious "Chemical Ali" -- aka Ali Hassan al-Majid -- you're wrong.

The correct answer: Sainted Winston Churchill. As colonial secretary and secretary for war and air, he authorized the RAF in the 1920s to routinely use mustard gas against rebellious Kurdish tribesmen in Iraq and against Pashtun tribes on British India's northwest frontier.

Iraq's U.S.-installed regime has just announced al-Majid, one of Saddam's most brutal henchmen, will stand trial next week for war crimes.

Al-Majid is accused of ordering the 1988 gassing of Kurds at Halabja that killed over 5,000 civilians. He led the bloody suppression of Iraq's Shias, killing tens of thousands. These were the same Shias whom former U.S. president George Bush called to rebel against Saddam's regime, then sat back and did nothing while they were crushed.

The Halabja atrocity remains murky. The CIA's former Iraq desk chief claims Kurds who died at Halabja were killed by cyanide gas, not nerve gas, as is generally believed.

At the time, Iraq and Iran were locked in the ferocious last battles of their eight-year war. Halabja was caught between the two armies that were exchanging salvos of regular and chemical munitions. Only Iran had cyanide gas. If the CIA official is correct, the Kurds were accidentally killed by Iran, not Iraq.

But it's also possible al-Majid ordered an attack. Kurds in that region had rebelled against Iraq and opened the way for invading Iranian forces.

What's the difference between the U.S. destroying the rebellious Iraqi city of Fallujah and Saddam destroying rebellious Halabja? What difference does it make if you're killed by poison gas, artillery or 2,000-pound bombs?

"Chemical Ali" was a brute of the worst kind in a regime filled with sadists. I personally experienced the terror of Saddam's sinister regime over 25 years, culminating in threats to hang me as a spy.

Saddam Hussein and his entourage should face justice. But not in political show trials just before U.S.-"guided" Iraqi elections nor in Iraqi kangaroo courts. They should be sent to the UN's war crimes tribunal in The Hague, where Saddam should be charged with the greatest crime he committed -- the invasion of Iran, which caused one million casualties.

Britain, the U.S., Kuwait and Saudi Arabia convinced Iraq to invade Iran, then covertly supplied Saddam with money, arms, intelligence, and advisers. Meanwhile, Israel secretly supplied Iran with $5 billion US in American arms and spare parts while publicly denouncing Iran for terrorism.

Up to their ears

Who supplied "Chemical Ali" with his mustard and nerve gas? Why, the West, of course. In late 1990, I discovered four British technicians in Baghdad who told me they had been "seconded" to Iraq by Britain's ministry of defence and MI6 intelligence to make chemical and biological weapons, including anthrax, Q-fever and plague, at a secret laboratory at Salman Pak.

The Reagan administration and Thatcher government were up to their ears in backing Iraq's aggression, apparently with the intention to overthrow Iran's Islamic government and seize its oil. Italy, Germany, France, South Africa, Belgium, Yugoslavia, Brazil, Chile and the USSR all aided Saddam's war effort against Iran, which was even more a victim of naked aggression than was Kuwait in 1991.

I'd argue senior officials of those nations that abetted Saddam's aggression against Iran and supplied him with chemicals and gas should also stand trial with Ali and Saddam.

What an irony it is to see U.S. forces in Iraq now behaving with much the same punitive ferocity as Saddam's army and police -- bombing rebellious cities, arresting thousands, terrorizing innocent civilians, torturing captives and sending in tanks to crush resistance.

In other words, Saddamism without Saddam. A decade ago, this column predicted that when the U.S. finally overthrew Saddam, it would need to find a new Saddam.

Finally, let's not forget that when Saddam's regime committed many of its worst atrocities against rebellious Kurds and Shiites, it was still a close ally of Washington and London. The West paid for and supplied Saddam's bullets, tanks, gas and germs. He was our regional SOB.

Our hands are very far from clean.

Subject: Congress Funds Mandatory Psychological Tests for Kids

This, my friends, is very serious news. The government is about to own the minds of all our children. Are adults next?

Congress Funds Mandatory Psychological Tests for Kids

Newsmax - November 23 2004

One of the nation's leading medical groups, the Association of American Physicians & Surgeons (AAPS), decried a move by the U.S. Senate to join with the House in funding a federal program AAPS says will lead to mandatory psychological testing of every child in America - without the consent of parents.

When the Senate considered an omnibus appropriations bill last week that included funding for grants to implement universal mental health screening for almost 60 million children, pregnant women and adults through schools and pre-schools, it approved $20 million of the $44 million sought, Kathryn Serkes, public affairs counsel for AAPS, told NewsMax.

This $20 million matches a like amount already approved by the House, Serkes advised.

While the funding cut of some $24 million was a little good news, suggested Serkes, whose organization has zealously opposed the the measure, she said the organization was most worried about the failure of Congress to include "parental consent" language sought by the AAPS.

Last September, AAPS lifetime member Rep. Ron Paul, M.D., R-Texas, tried to stop the plan in its tracks by offering an amendment to the Labor, HHS, and Education Appropriations Act for FY 2005. The amendment received 95 "yes" votes, but it failed to pass.

According to Serkes, Paul is now mulling offering stand-alone legislation in the next session to once again try and get a provision for parental consent. The federal bill on its face does not require mandatory mental health testing to be imposed upon states or local schools, explained Serkes.

However, the HHS appropriations bill contains block grant money that will likely be used - as is often the case with block funding - by the various states to implement mandatory psychological testing programs for all students in the school system.

The spending bill has its roots in the recommendations of the New Freedom Commission on Mental Health, created by President Bush in 2002 to propose ways of eliminating waste and improve efficiency and effectiveness of the mental health care delivery system.

Although the report does not specifically recommend screening all students, it does suggest that "schools are in a key position to identify the mental health problems early and to provide a link to appropriate services."

The bottom line, explained Serkes, is that a state receiving money under this appropriation will likely make its mental testing of kids mandatory - and not be out of synch with the federal enactment.

The other telling point, said Serkes, is that although the relatively minimal funding at this point is certainly not enough to fund mandatory mental testing for kids countrywide, it's an ominous start:

"Once it's established and has funding, a program exhibits the nettlesome property of being self-sustaining - it gets a life of its own. More funding follows."

Officials of the AAPS decry in the measure what they see as "a dangerous scheme that will heap even more coercive pressure on parents to medicate children with potentially dangerous side effects." One of the most "dangerous side effects" from antidepressants commonly prescribed to children is suicide, regarding which AAPS added, "Further, even the government's own task force has concluded that mental health screening does little to prevent suicide."

Meanwhile, Rep. Paul says the mental testing scheme is a looming feature of "Big Brother" that if unchecked will push parental rights out of the picture:

"At issue is the fundamental right of parents to decide what medical treatment is appropriate for their children. The notion of federal bureaucrats ordering potentially millions of youngsters to take psychotropic drugs like Ritalin strikes an emotional chord with American parents, who are sick of relinquishing more and more parental control to government.

"Once created, federal programs are nearly impossible to eliminate. Anyone who understands bureaucracies knows they assume more and more power incrementally. A few scattered state programs over time will be replaced by a federal program implemented in a few select cities. Once the limited federal program is accepted, it will be expanded nationwide. Once in place throughout the country, the screening program will become mandatory.

"Soviet communists attempted to paint all opposition to the state as mental illness. It now seems our own federal government wants to create a therapeutic nanny state, beginning with schoolchildren. It's not hard to imagine a time 20 or 30 years from now when government psychiatrists stigmatize children whose religious, social, or political values do not comport with those of the politically correct, secular state.

"American parents must do everything they can to remain responsible for their children's well-being. If we allow government to become intimately involved with our children's minds and bodies, we will have lost the final vestiges of parental authority. Strong families are the last line of defense against an overreaching bureaucratic state."

E mail your comment on this article to and have it posted here.

Included in this bill, which allows forced drugging of our children, is a small section which allows any Congress person to review personal or business tax returns simply upon request without informing the subject of the review. If a Congressman can review them, they can easily hand them over to any other government organization. You might as well consider your tax return public information from now on.

On Alex Jones show right now, an MD from a university called in to say what he knows about Ritalin. He has direct access to all tests and testing equipment. He regularly tests the brains of children when he is allowed to by law.

He says that Ritalin is hazardous for adults BUT DEADLY FOR CHILDREN due to their formative process. He says Ritalin in young children results in EARLY ALZHEIMERS and can make PERMANENT changes in the brain within eight hours of the first dose. He said they can see the NEURONS OF THE BRAIN BEING KILLED AND PERMANENTLY ALTERED under the influence of Ritalin.

Do you get it? Do you get that they know what these drugs do to children? Do you get that they are out to literally destroy the brains of our children?

How is it, I ask you, that we all are now going to go off to our Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays, purposely telling ourselves to "forget about all this bad news" for a few days, when, in fact, our government has openly declared mass murder on its own population?

This is the insanity that is possible today. Yet, a great many of my friends still think this is all going to go away with a little positive thinking.

If I had kids, today would be the day I would begin to think about leaving the United States.

From: "Peter Lems, American Friends Service Committee">

Dear Friend,

Each day brings more stories of bombings, kidnappings, and death in Iraq. As the occupation rolls on with no end in sight, more and more ordinary Iraqis question our intentions in their country. To continue down the current path of military occupation and dominance will only invite more violence.

It's time to change course in Iraq. It's time to bring the troops home.

Please take a moment to sign the Iraq Peace Petition. Tell the President that we've had enough of body bags and maimed children.

The petition will be delivered on the morning after the inauguration. It says:

Mr. President:

We urge you to end this war now. Iraq belongs to the Iraqi people. War is the wrong path. Too many lives have been lost already -- let our troops come home.

Support for the war continues to ebb. Help us build the momentum for peace.

Sign the petition and pass it along to your friends. Click here: ">

Together, we can make a difference.

Subject: Gary Webb Memorial Fund - Investigate his death

I am in touch with a JFK assassination researcher in Los Angeles who is working hard to insure an independent and thorough investigation into the recent death of journalist Gary Webb, who broke the award-winning "Dark Web" story on the CIA and crack cocaine for the San Jose Mercury News before being threatened and fired, and who continued to research and write. He was recently found dead in his house, which he had been forced to sell, and the local coroner ruled that no foul play was involved and it was apparently a suicide.

John Hankey, the researcher in Los Angeles hired a private investigator, promising $300, who spoke to Webb's family and viewed the body. Two wounds at the back right of the head with two exit wounds at the left cheek. Webb's son is suspicious because the alleged weapon used was an old .38 with a trigger mechanism that was very hard to pull, so he doubted it could have been pulled again after the first shot had done its damage. Gary Webb's brother believes that the suicide notes left behind are forgeries. The family has agreed to delay cremation and allow a full autopsy.

We have an agreement to do that work from leading forensic pathologist Cyril Wecht, who has also recommended that a criminal investigator be hired to look at the death scene. The family is also aware of the importance of Webb's research and the preservation of his papers. Hankey is setting up the Gary Webb Memorial Fund to receive pledges and donations to support this investigation, since he cannot cover the costs himself. The autopsy basic costs will be $6,000 and the private investigator and criminal investigator will also have to be paid. Time is of the essence, so he will rely on sincere pledges to move forward on this quickly. He is creating a bank account and a website to take donations. He can be contacted at or at 310-301-7712.

Several researchers into political assassinations and covert operations have already signed on to help. If you can assist in any way, please contact him directly now. It's the least we owe those who try to expose the truth.

Thanks, and best wishes for your holiday,

John Judge

FALLUJAH - The Sinister Plan

The chilling reality of what Fallujah has become is only now seeping out, as the American military continues to block almost all access to the city, whether to reporters, its former residents, or aid groups like the Red Crescent Society.

Dec 21, 2004

The chilling reality of what Fallujah has become is only now seeping out, as the American military continues to block almost all access to the city, whether to reporters, its former residents, or aid groups like the Red Crescent Society. The date of access keeps being postponed, partly because of ongoing fighting -- only this week more air strikes were called in and fighting "in pockets" remains fierce (despite American pronouncements of success weeks ago) -- and partly because of the difficulties military commanders have faced in attempting to prettify their ugly handiwork. Residents will now officially be denied entry until at least December 24; and even then, only the heads of households will be allowed in, a few at a time, to assess damage to their residences in the largely destroyed city.

With a few notable exceptions the media has accepted the recent virtual news blackout in Fallujah. The ongoing fighting in the city, especially in "cleared" neighborhoods, is proving an embarrassment and so, while military spokesmen continue to announce American casualties, they now come not from the city itself but, far more vaguely, from "al Anbar province" of which the city is a part. Fifty American soldiers died in the taking of the city; 20 more died in the following weeks -- before the reports stopped. Iraqi civilian casualties remain unknown and accounts of what's happened in the city, except from the point of view of embedded reporters (and so of American troops) remain scarce indeed. With only a few exceptions (notably Anthony Shadid of the Washington Post), American reporters have neglected to cull news from refugee camps or Baghdad hospitals, where survivors of the siege are now congregating.

Intrepid independent and foreign reporters are doing a better job (most notably Dahr Jamail, whose dispatches are indispensable), but even they have been handicapped by lack of access to the city itself. At least Jamail did the next best thing, interviewing a Red Crescent worker who was among the handful of NGO personnel allowed briefly into the wreckage that was Fallujah.

A report by Katarina Kratovac of the Associated Press (picked by the Washington Post) about military plans for managing Fallujah once it is pacified (if it ever is) proved a notable exception to the arid coverage in the major media. Kratovac based her piece on briefings by the military leadership, notably Lt. Gen. John F. Sattler, commander of the Marines in Iraq. By combining her evidence with some resourceful reporting by Dahr Jamail (and bits and pieces of information from reports printed up elsewhere), a reasonably sharp vision of the conditions the U.S. is planning for Fallujah's "liberated" residents comes into focus. When they are finally allowed to return, if all goes as the Americans imagine, here's what the city's residents may face:

* Entry and exit from the city will be restricted. According to General Sattler, only five roads into the city will remain open. The rest will be blocked by "sand berms" -- read, mountains of earth that will make them impassible. Checkpoints will be established at each of the five entry points, manned by U.S. troops, and everyone entering will be "photographed, fingerprinted and have iris scans taken before being issued ID cards.

" Though Sattler reassured American reporters that the process would only take 10 minutes, the implication is that entry and exit from the city will depend solely on valid ID cards properly proffered, a system akin to the pass-card system used during the apartheid era in South Africa.

* Fallujahns are to wear their universal identity cards in plain sight at all times. The ID cards will, according to Dahr Jamail's information, be made into badges that contain the individual's home address. This sort of system has no purpose except to allow for the monitoring of everyone in the city, so that ongoing American patrols can quickly determine if someone is not a registered citizen or is suspiciously far from their home neighborhood.

* No private automobiles will be allowed inside the city. This is a "precaution against car bombs," which Sattler called "the deadliest weapons in the insurgent arsenal." As a district is opened to repopulation, the returning residents will be forced to park their cars outside the city and will be bused to their homes. How they will get around afterwards has not been announced. How they will transport reconstruction materials to rebuild their devastated property is also a mystery.

* Only those Fallujahns cleared through American intelligence vettings will be allowed to work on the reconstruction of the city. Since Fallujah is currently devastated and almost all employment will, at least temporarily, derive from whatever reconstruction aid the U.S. provides, this means that the Americans plan to retain a life-and-death grip on the city. Only those deemed by them to be non-insurgents (based on notoriously faulty American intelligence) will be able to support themselves or their families.

* Those engaged in reconstruction work -- that is, work -- in the city may be organized into "work brigades." The best information indicates that these will be military-style battalions commanded by the American or Iraqi armed forces. Here, as in other parts of the plan, the motive is clearly to maintain strict surveillance over males of military age, all of whom will be considered potential insurgents.

In case the overarching meaning of all this has eluded you, Major Francis Piccoli, a spokesman for the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force, which is leading the occupation of Fallujah, spelled it out for the AP's Kratovac: "Some may see this as a 'Big Brother is watching over you' experiment, but in reality it's a simple security measure to keep the insurgents from coming back." Actually, it is undoubtedly meant to be both; and since, in the end, it is likely to fail (at least, if the "success" of other American plans in Iraq is taken as precedent), it may prove less revealing of Fallujah's actual future than of the failure of the American counterinsurgency effort in Iraq and of the desperation of American strategists. In this context, the most revealing element of the plan may be the banning of all cars, the enforcement of which, all by itself, would make the city unlivable; and which therefore demonstrates both the impracticality of the U.S. vision and a callous disregard for the needs and rights of the Fallujahns.

These dystopian plans are a direct consequence of the fact that the conquest of Fallujah, despite the destruction of the city, visibly did not accomplish its primary goal: "[To] wipe out militants and insurgents and break the back of guerrillas in Fallujah." Even taking American kill figures at face value, the battle for the city was hardly a full-scale success.

Before the assault on the city began, American intelligence estimated that there were 5,000 insurgents inside. General Sattler himself conceded that the final official count was 1,200 fighters killed and no more than 2,000 suspected guerrillas captured. (This assumes, of course, that it was possible in the heat of the battle and its grim aftermath to tell whether any dead man of fighting age was an "insurgent," a "suspected insurgent," or just a dead civilian.) At least a couple of thousand resistance fighters previously residing in Fallujah are, then, still "at large" -- not counting the undoubtedly sizeable number of displaced residents now angry enough to take up arms. As a consequence, were the U.S. to allow the outraged residents of Fallujah to return unmolested, they would simply face a new struggle in the ruins of the city (as, in fact, continues to be the case anyway). This would leave the extensive devastation of whole neighborhoods as the sole legacy of the invasion.

American desperation is expressed in a willingness to treat all Fallujahns as part of the insurgency -- the inevitable fate of an occupying army that tries to "root out" a popular resistance. As General Sattler explains, speaking of the plan for the "repopulation" of the city, "Once we've cleared each and every house in a sector, then the Iraqi government will make the notification of residents of that particular sector that they are encouraged to return." In other words, each section of the city must be entirely emptied of life, so that the military can be sure not even one suspect insurgent has infiltrated the new order. (As is evident, this is but another American occupation fantasy, since the insurgents still hiding in the city have evidently proven all too adept at "repopulating" emptied neighborhoods themselves.)

The ongoing policy of house-to-house inspections, combined with ultra-tight security regulations aimed at not allowing suspected guerrillas to reenter the city, is supposed to insure that everyone inside the Fallujahn perimeter will not only be disarmed but obedient to occupation demands and desires. The name tags and the high-tech identity cards are meant to guard against both forgeries and unlawful movement within the city. The military-style work gangs are to insure that everyone is under close supervision at all times. The restricted entry points are clearly meant to keep all weapons out. Assumedly kept out as well will be most or all reporters (they tend to inflame public opinion), most medical personnel (they tend to "exaggerate" civilian casualties), and most Sunni clerics (they oppose the occupation and support the insurgency).. We can also expect close scrutiny of computers (which can be used for nefarious communications), ambulances (which have been used to smuggle weapons and guerrillas), medicines (which can be used to patch up wounded fighters who might still be hiding somewhere), and so on.

It is not much of a reach to see that, at least in their fantasies, U.S. planners would like to set up what sociologists call a "total institution." Like a mental hospital or a prison, Fallujah, at least as reimagined by the Americans, will be a place where constant surveillance equals daily life and the capacity to interdict "suspicious" behavior (however defined) is the norm. But "total institution" might be too sanitized a term to describe activities which so clearly violate international law as well as fundamental morality. Those looking for a descriptor with more emotional bite might consider one of those used by correspondent Pepe Escobar of the Asia Times: either "American gulag" for those who enjoy Stalinist imagery or "concentration camp" for those who prefer the Nazi version of the same. But maybe we should just call it a plain old police (city-)state.

Where will such plans lead? Well, for one thing, we can confidently predict that nothing we might recognize as an election will take place in Fallujah at the end of January. (Remember, it was to liberate Fallujahns from the grip of "terrorists" and to pave the way for electoral free choice that the Bush administration claimed it was taking the city in the first place.) With the current date for allowing the first residents to return set for December 24 -- heads of household only to assess property damage -- and the process of repopulation supposedly moving step-by-step, from north to south, across neighborhoods and over time, it's almost inconceivable that a majority of Fallujahns will have returned by late January (if they are even willing to return under the conditions set by the Americans). Latest reports are that it will take six months to a year simply to restore electricity to the city. So organizing elections seems unlikely indeed.

The magnitude of the devastation and the brutality of the American plan are what's likely to occupy the full attention of Fallujahns for the foreseeable future -- and their reactions to these dual disasters represent the biggest question mark of the moment. However, the history of the Iraq war thus far, and the history of guerrilla wars in general, suggest that there will simply be a new round of struggle, and that carefully laid military plans will begin to disintegrate with the very first arrivals. There is no predicting what form the new struggle will take, but the U.S. military is going to have a great deal of difficulty controlling a large number of rebellious, angry people inside the gates of America's new mini-police state. This is why the military command has kept almost all of the original attack force in the city, in anticipation of the need for tight patrols by a multitude of American troops. (And it also explains why so many other locations around the country have suddenly found themselves without an American troop presence.)

The Fallujah police-state strategy represents a sign of weakness, not strength. The new Fallujah imagined by American planners is a desperate, ad hoc response to the failure of the battle to "break the back of the guerrillas." Like the initial attack on the city, it too is doomed to failure, though it has the perverse "promise" of deepening the suffering of the Iraqis.

You know, those unruly people in Iraq, who insist on shooting their own and our guys with gleeful abandon. They are called "insurgents," by the media and US government. As I have said before, I must disagree.

According to the dictionary, an "insurgent," is one "rising up against established authority." So, who are the "insurgents?" The Iraqis, who vigorously object to foreigners invading their land? They have been there for thousands of years.

How is it that the Iraqis, who have been there for centuries, are "insurgents?" Maybe they didn't lie down and submit, when their once peaceful land was over-run and occupied by the Americans and Brits. Maybe they think an "election" at the end of January, will be a fraud, and they are trying to upset it. Maybe they remember the days of Saddam, when the lights worked, water came out of the faucets, and Fallujah wasn't a total ruin. Maybe they remember the days when everyone had a job. Maybe they remember the time when Saddam wanted to re-capture Kuwait, which was part of Iraq until the 1920's, and which was evidently cross drilling into Iraq land for oil which didn't belong to it. Maybe they remember when Saddam ran a secular nation which was Muslim in name only, and who wasn't an Ayatollah. Maybe they remember an Iraq, which sold oil to any who wanted it, and was prosperous and peaceful. Maybe their memories cause them to make war on the insurgents, who are in

Look at this way. Suppose 150,000 Muslims invaded Wyoming, with the goal of reforming it to their tastes, religion, and rules. Would Americans be outraged? If Americans came to the aid of their fellow countrymen in Wyoming, to defeat the invaders, would we be "insurgents?" If the Muslim invaders started killing innocent civilians, jailed the governor, bombed the power plants, telephone exchanges, and water facilities, toppled statues, banned newspapers and TV, and possibly destroyed Cody or Rawlins, wouldn't the Muslims be the "insurgents?" Or would the Americans who were outraged and determined to get rid of them, be the "insurgents?"

Would the people who were attempting to defend Rawlins or Cody, be "insurgents?" If Americans booby trapped dead Americans who were shot by the invading Muslims, would they rightly be called "insurgents?" If the outraged Americans, who came to the aid of the Wyoming citizens by bombing the Muslim caravans, shooting rockets into their vehicles, and setting charges in roads, be "insurgents?" Wouldn't the invading Muslims who took Americans prisoner, raping, and torturing them, and keeping them in filthy cells, be "insurgents?" You decide, but as far as I am concerned, that word "insurgent," which is used over and over again, thousands of times a day by the media, is a classic example of the total misuse of a word, to attempt to justify an illegal, brutal action.

The invasion of Iraq, is a total violation of International Law, common sense, justice, and decency. America should be ashamed at what our nation has done. Aren't you glad you aren't an Iraqi, who has seen his land blown to bits, and your fellow citizens murdered? Picture yourself as a peaceful Iraqi with a job, home, electricity, water, and nice life. Your ruler didn't like opposition, killed some of his opponents and enemies, and he was the only one on the ballot. Would you like it then...or now? You decide.
