Powers of Ten (AMAZING!!)

Subject: Growing Day by Day

Dearest Jean,

Hello dear friend. I hope you are doing well on this beautiful day. I have a few thoughts that I'd like to share with everyone. CLIP

I had a vision the other day that we're taking the first steps into the fourth dimension and what is required to keep moving forward is for us to just leave the negativities behind us. Leave them here, we don't want to take them where we're going. Keep moving forward and don't look back. Forgive, forget, learn. I see us pulling this weary world along with us by ropes attached to our hearts. We must pull as hard as we can with our hearts and don't let up. Keep pulling.

What I have taken from the Spoonbender's Course so far is that I'm not interested in bending spoons, I just want to make my heart stronger and the love I pour out more effective and sure of it's destination. I have learned to not just take energy from the spiritual world and bring it to the physical world, but to take the love and beauty and everything good that I see and want more of on this earth and advertise it to the Universe that these good things are possible on earth, so may we have more please.

I feel that combining our hearts and minds into one energy is extremely powerful. I haven't had much time to practice doing this, but it is something I want to learn more about. I like very much taking the Light be in me and Light be as me practice and using different words other than Light, such as peace, health, wholeness, whatever we feel we need. It's a powerful spell.

Jean had a wonderful suggestion that I don't think anyone caught on to. There are many people, many Ligthworkers that don't have any access to the spiritual tools they need to learn how to find their spiritual power. Jean thought maybe some of us could come up with some techniques and share them with everyone. Share our knowledge. I think people could probably use information on grounding, centering, finding the Light within and making it grow. Information on the chakras would be cool. We must remember that these people don't have money to go buy tarot cards, or crystals, or anything like that. They need information on spiritual practices that require nothing but themselves. I know there are many souls out there eager to help, your help is needed now. Please help these people find their Light within.

Loving Light,

AND MY REPLY WAS (in part) :

Thank you so very much Misty for engaging me/us all again into a co-creative dance of mutually stimulating thoughts-expression. As for your reminder to provide relevant information for people seeking to reconnect with their higher Self through "information on grounding, centering, finding the Light within and making it grow", I did a bit of Web searching to locate some useful material (see "Meditation: A natural gift to understand" hereafter) and I also include below a most stimulating account of what may happen during meditations such as those we do every Sunday for the Meditation Focus. But this is a HUGE topic that deserves much more attention indeed and I'll soon come back to it through a new series of compilations to be called "Soul Reminiscence" that will bring together articles I wrote years ago and other inspirational material from the early New Age period. I also intend to finally share with all of you the ecospiritual novel The Immortal Child I was guided to write in 1987. So lots of interesting old stuff to be revisited from today's unique perspective...

NOTE: In the meantime, and to those who may have not yet experienced it, I invite you all to visit (or revisit) the Meditation Room that I've created years ago on the ERN website. It is located at

There are also useful "Spiritual Nuggets" posted on the Global Meditation Focus website for those who need to further explore how to improve the effectiveness of their global healing work while they meditate for peace.

Meditation: A natural gift to understand

Meditation is a big topic. If we could collect all the books written about meditation, it would fill a library—much of it old, much of it brand new. People in every culture and time have been interested enough in this topic to record their ideas and deliver it safely into the hands of their children. So, no one description speaks for all. In general terms, meditation is a "prescribed method, involving the body and mind, that alters the object or direction of attention for an extended, formal period of time." What people do during meditation depends on the method or form that they follow. Common forms include simply sitting in the present moment, following the breath, thinking about a chosen topic, being in the presence of God, repeating a word or phrase.

Most people come to meditation by studying a particular method from a book, teacher, group or institution. These sources usually contain significant levels of cultural and religious content that cannot easily be separated from the teaching on meditation. While these elements can be enriching, they can also be confusing and distancing for some new learners. Happily, cultural and religious elements are not necessary for the enjoyment of meditative awareness and some methods, such as Natural Meditation, are designed without them. Non-cultural meditation can be just as effective because meditative awareness is an inherent part of the human makeup.

The effects of meditation range widely across the spectrum of physical, mental, and spiritual health. They include: balanced living, compassion, concentration, effective thinking, fearlessness, happiness, health, inner power, integrity, intuitive understanding, peace of mind, selflessness, spiritual formation, and wisdom.

A natural meditative function

Meditation is not just something you sit and do. It is also something that happens to you. There exists within all humans, a natural meditative function that begins operating within minutes of starting a non-striving form of meditation. The body and mind automatically turn on a built-in function that creates the environment, or foundation, of the meditative experience. The body metabolism slows and the mind opens up and settles down. During this process the mind and body work in the background to repair and rejuvenate themselves. This is a complex, intelligent and effective function that arises as naturally as sleep, yet works on a different set of mind/body issues than does sleep. Regular experience of this enhances health and produces a long-term conditioning of the body and mind.

In the early 1970s a burst of scientific research on meditation and relaxation techniques unveiled the fact that meditation produces physiological effects that have long been associated with healthy conditions—deep rest, relaxed muscles, quietly organized brain waves.

By the mid 1970s the body of research, especially on Transcendental Meditation, showed that meditation produces a coordinated and unique effect in the mind and body, an effect that cannot be "manually" recreated by brute intention. Within five minutes or so, the body slips into a unique physiological state. This state could never be created by brute intention because it sends us off in opposite directions at once. The body is sent in the direction of sleep’s restfulness—and beyond—while the mind is sent in the direction of waking alertness—and beyond. So, it is an established scientific fact (although a poorly advertised one) that, humans come "pre-wired" with the capacity for meditative restful awareness.

So, you already own a precious treasure: the capacity for meditative awareness, rest and rejuvenation. To harvest this natural resource, to truly own it, you need to learn two basic skills:

The ability to do a twenty-minute sitting of meditation

The ability to maintain a daily practice of meditation

Once you have these skills, you will have mastered the basics of meditative literacy. If you think that meditation is something you would like to explore, consider taking a course and finding a group of people who have experience. There are many forms of meditation. It can take some time to find the kind that fits best.

Here's a free online course in meditation. It is a pragmatic course in how to meditate following the natural principles inherent in all humans. It is not a philosophy or history of meditation and comes with absolutely no strings attached. Study online or download and install the course on your own computer.

Course Description

This is a self-paced course in the art of natural meditation. It is a practical, hands-on course in how to meditate. It doesn’t assume you know anything about meditation, and it won’t drop you off until you have had a good launch into it. You can relax into the text and let it carry you across some (possibly) new territory into a classic, effective personal meditation—and then a bit further, into the beginnings of a lifelong relationship with meditation. Maybe it is too much to say the text will carry you across that territory, because it is you who will be doing the walking.

The course has five lessons and usually can be completed in a week, spending one or two hours on each lesson. When you are done, you will have the following skills:

Meditation Handbook

A student helping student project.

Meditation is inner astronomy. You discover the stars, the moon, and the sun are all inside you.

What is Meditation?

Most dictionaries define the Western (Jewish, Christian, Islamic) meaning of the word 'meditation,' but usually do not describe the Eastern (Hindu, Buddhist, Taoist) concept of meditation. The most appropriate dictionary definition I could find reads as follows: "If you meditate, you give your attention to one thing, and do not think about anything else, usually as a religious activity or as way of calming or relaxing your mind." This definition implies that meditation means thinking about something, be it religious or mystical in nature, and that a constant thought process goes on while one meditates. The purest Eastern definition of the word 'meditation' means not thinking at all, but rather focusing the consciousness on the cosmic whole, "the all and the everything" as George Gurdjieff called it, without thought, judgment, or distraction.

We define the word 'meditation' here as the art of consciousness becoming aware of itself on the grand and cosmic scale. Meditation cannot honestly be called a science because any real science requires objective testing, which is not currently possible for the practice of meditation. The real art of meditation is beyond thought, beyond society, and beyond time.

Why meditate?

Meditation brings a sense of fullness and completion and is the only permanent source of tranquility available to human beings. All other forms of serenity are temporary and dissolve into conflict and chaos over time. The euphoria of drugs quickly lead to misery and self-destruction. The wholesomeness of love, so beautiful and ethereal, is a relatively short lived and fleeting experience. As J. Krishnamurti said, meditation brings order and "That order is the order of the universe. It is irrevocable and doesn't depend on anything." Meditation is the eternal essence of nature taking on conscious form within the mortal human frame.

Meditation is an adventure of self-discovery. How can you live without knowing who or what you are? If someone asks you who you are during the day you may state your name, as if a temporary label actually means something important. Ask yourself who you are when you are in deep sleep, unconscious and without even a dream to prove that you exist at all. Ask yourself who you were ten months before you were born and who you will be just one moment after your body dies. Meditation increases awareness of the natural phenomena that is actually going on behind your own eyes. Self-knowledge has intrinsic value, even without the indescribable bliss nature generously unleashes in those who practice meditation with sincerity and patience.

Hi, All!

Jean's Sunday Meditation Focus is such a special experience, I feel. Of course, the Focus is always on some special need, but I'm aware that I get as much from it as the recipients or objective! That's the nature of human incarnation, I guess - there's always a certain percentage of service-to-self interest mixed in with any 'good deed'!! <g>

Anyways, I know that Jean had mentioned some time ago that he had hoped to start a discussion group devoted to exchanging our experiences during and after these meditations. Apparently there wasn't enought interest to justify starting one. He and I have discussed this, and we both are hoping that everyone will come to feel that this is a safe place where such private experiences can be shared. I believe that we can all contribute to an enormous amount of positive energy with these meditations, an energy pool that Spirit can use for the highest good. And by sharing our adventures, we can explore techniques for maximizing our effectiveness, support each other and reinforce the sense of involvement and participation - psyche ourselves up, so to speak! :)

This last Sunday (29/9) I was settling down on my cushy meditation pillows, and about to slip what I thought was a "Crystal Bowls" cd into the player for background. When I realized that what I was handling was not the crystal bowls tape, but one of the Gyuto Monks and some of their recitations. At first I chided myself - "What were you thinking? Why did you pick that up?" But, an inner urge said go ahead, play it - and I've learned to respect what my inner voice has to say!

I began by visualising the continent of Africa, as though I were positioned out in space, but close enough to see where the various regions and countries would be. While trying to focus geographically on southern Africa, I suddenly got an image of a sea of hollow-eyed, upturned faces, set upon gaunt bodies, with starving babies in suffering mothers' arms, diseased and poxed adults, supported on makeshift crutches or lying propped against stark trees, bereft of foliage. All faces upturned, with a mixture of emotions - despair and resignation lingered there, but also hope, and a silent pleading.

As my inner vision began to adjust, I then saw that a steam of light was surrounding these people from the ambient and upper atmospheres. I then tried to focus and became aware of an immense figure, discernible in long light blueish robes, with his arms bent at the elbow and his palms bent back, at shoulder level - not straight, but with the fingers slightly cupped. His face had somewhat human form, but it was all of light - and his eyes were like large, brilliant stars. There was a stream of light particles coming from his palms and his heart area. I then seemed to be thrust further backwards or upwards, away, so that I could see the Planet as a whole, but still quite close. As I readjusted my focus, I became aware of thousands of monks, some saffron-robed, some in brownish cloth, seated cross-legged in tiers around the 'edges' of the Planet. 'Behind' them, but encompassing them with his Light-aura, was this towering figure, whom I took to be a ranking Bodhisattva, perhaps Avalokiteshvara himself, who specialises in this work.

As the music from the cd merged with image of the monks, I could see the effects of their instruments, and this devic-Being's presence, dispersing the dark, swirling enegies - convoluted, looped and intertwined in a horrific, frightfully impenetrable mesh or grid, suffocating all the life of this great continent. The monks would periodically all pause on one long, sustained chord (many harmonics in one homogenous sound) - the only way I can describe this powerful gathering of energy is that it must be something like the sound of the solar wind. I could feel and see this sacred sound toning and vibrating within the very being of Africa, merging with her own music, lifting, powerfully, insistently, upwards......lifting the dark meshwork up and away, unraveling its tangled skeins, overtaking it, overwhelming it with cleansing, transformative energy... driving out its scattered remnants, like dark clouds before a powerful wind.

And I felt the monks' toning within my own body, attuning my own vibratory patterns at the cellular level - helping to uproot the darkness within me that is aligned with the same global-sized energy which supports the continued suppression and exploitation of Africa. I was left with the impression of a great healing that is underway even now, - even though the situation looks bleaker than ever, from the 'outer' 3-D/material perspective. The desperation of the situation is the indicator of the critical mass we have already reached, and which has created the 'shock' needed to move into the turning point, the beginning of the upward leg of the spiral/cycle, towards succour and peace, deliverance and liberty. I feel our continued prayers and meditations make an incalculable difference, and are critical at this time, of the turning of the tide!

So, my little voice was right! I picked up that cd at the urging of my greater Self and my guides. I love the way these little synchronicities work! <sm> I was meant to experience this particular meditation, as imperfectly described above -- and I received indescribable insights into the African and world situations that I wouldn't have without this particular combination of focus and music!!

Ok, I've let my hair down.....Who's next?!! ;^D

Peace and joy to all!!

Dear Jean,

My own personal inner experiences correspond to the widely divergent material you present on ERN.

On the one hand, there is this insane push to "war" on an impoverished and oppressed nation, with disturbing stories of many structures being sneakily put into place with the apparent intent to transform my country--the USA--and the rest of the world into a totalitarian planet. On the other hand, there are the many, many, many accounts of what appears to be a rapidly increasing awakening of many persons all over our beautiful Earth to what are essentiallly spiritual ideals--Justice, Peace, Freedom for All, intense Love for Earth and all Created Beings here, a yearning for Cooperation and Communication, etc., etc... Not to mention the many channelings and personal accounts of ascension energies beginning to manifest.

In my darker moments, i question whether these ascencion energy experiences are on the level of a collective Ghost Dance--a knowing that destruction is near, and an unconscious outpouring of reaffirming all that is best about being human in a basic survival move to keep these realities formed and accessible when we are propelled en masse to another dimension through the destructive forces of world leaders and dark forces controlling them.

Which ties into a most powerful and disturbing dream i had the night i saw the Northern Lights for the first time (late Summer 2002). I saw in my dream an immense grey ominous wall being built--higher and higher as i watched in horror--i knew its purpose was to prevent all humans on Earth from being able to connect with spiritual (higher dimensional) energies.

When i begin to fall into dark doubts about the validity of my own Highest Consciousness knowings, i remind myself of that wall and its intent--and then remember that nothing is stronger than the Spirit. This i know in the deepest part of myself.

I have been the recipient of visions all my life--when my children were growing up, they accorded me the respect of heeding warnings and advice which came to them through me, and i have also been gifted with seeing future events on a wider scale than the personal--a troubling gift, especially in a culture that neither acknowledges nor educates in this area.

What i would like to share is that all my life i have known that i am going to live to be an OLD woman--i am 55 now--and the visions i have had of my own personal future--all very specific, time-centered visions--are consistent with a future in which some sort of naturally occuring cataclysm(s) has left the part of the Earth i am now living on (and where i have been pulled--a lovely area, but i have gypsy feet, and it took some hard knocks thru the Great Spirit's workings to get me to finally stay put!) remaining relatively intact and with no electricity, no running water (other than in the streams and rivers, now happily cleaning themselves--no more manufacturers and willfully ignorant householders pouring toxic substances into their waters), no more cars racing around on mostly foolish errands--our Earth quiet again.

And so clear that the only way any one person will survive is by helping and being helped by those immediately around--NO PROBLEM!--as there are so many of us who feel more and more with each day passing in our present time that the way we are living now, relying on money instead of on each other and Spirit, is becoming more and more unworkable--and each of us will at last be able fully to use the gifts given to us in full service to others in this new and thoroughly delightful Dance of the Spirit.

It seems clear to me that my holding up in my own consciousness all my own individual visions (think globally, act locally) as the Future--KNOWING that all these shall come to pass--is part of my own (often painfully difficult) individual work--but, by doing so, i am also connected to so many of us all over our Earth.

In closing, i would like to express my heartfelt gratitude for ERN--I find my kindred spirits here, and encouragement of the highest sort to carry on. Thank you, Jean.

Peace and Freedom,

Kathleen Beatty

My Dearest Brothers and Sisters,

As you know, these are challenging times on the planet. All of you receiving this email, in one way or another, know that you are here to assist in bringing about the rebirth of planet Earth - building a New Earth that is centered in the heart.

Many of you are experiencing intense emotional challenges in your own lives right now. You are being asked to bring MORE LOVE into all those places within you that you have judged as anything other than Good.

Each one of us carries anger, deceit, jealousy, and fear. Each one of us, in one way or another, has been overcome by these emotions and done things that we have regretted later.

It is now time to FULLY bring love and acceptance into these places. As we love and forgive ourselves - as we allow God's love to enter into these dark places - healing can occur.

BE GENTLE ON YOURSELVES, Dear Ones. In times of challenge, speak to those places in you that are in fear or shame and tell them that they are loved. Fill your heart with love and bring that into your physical body.

As we do this, we begin to integrate our Soul Essence with our Human Essence. This is the healing that is so desperately needed on this planet. YOUR ABILITY TO FULLY ACCEPT AND LOVE YOURSELF HAS A DIRECT EFFECT UPON YOUR CAPACITY TO MOVE LOVE THROUGH YOUR BODY TO OTHERS.

You may be feeling frustrated, perceiving that you are failing your mission on Earth - seeing how much work there is to be done. Trust me when I say THIS IS THE WORK.

Try these exercises out. Incorporate what feels best into your daily spiritual routines:

1- When you are "spinning out", sit quietly. Become aware of your body. Ask yourself as though you are a loving parent "What's going on?" Listen for the response. There will be one. Continue to bring loving presence to this part of you. You may feel anger arise. Allow it to come up. IT IS GOOD! Don't judge it! Let it express. You may feel sadness and begin crying. THIS IS ALSO GOOD. This is reconnecting your soul essence to your human-ness. Usually this will bring you peace almost instantly. You may even feel elated as the love begins to move through into these places.

2- Stop what you are doing. Become aware of your heart. As you feeling the tenderness of it awaken, move this tenderness down into you belly (your emotional center). This practice is VERY effective in calming the emotional body.

3- Rub your belly. As simple as this seems, bringing loving touch to your belly will often help the emotional body integrate and bring peace.

Remember that if you are "spinning out" in your head about something, you are not connected in. You spirit is hovering slightly above the body. Sink down into your body, even if you are scared of being overwhelmed. Rub your feet. Massage your lower body. Do whatever it takes to move your consciousness into your body.

Many of you have gotten used to the "spiritual high" and have yet to fully marry it with your human-ness. Remember this body is a gift for your Spirit. It now needs your love for you to become a fully empowered being on this Earth.

You are SOOOO loved and SOOOO needed right now.

Be Gentle On Yourself.
