Faith in our GodSelf is the Winning Feeling

As we approach one of the most fateful elections in modern history, millions and millions of people in the U.S. and abroad are watching in keen anticipation of the result of this vote, anxious to find out if their hopes for a better world and better, wiser management of the largest military and economic power on Earth will become a reality or if, once again, the nefarious activities of souls bent on destroying the world for their own selfish profit will succeed in imposing their will through overt and covert manipulations of the political process. Fear is running rampant as fabricated terror-inducing news and efforts are made to frighten gullible people into voting for the candidate they perceive as the best prepared to ensure their "security", even if in fact the true and largest source of terror and insecurity on this planet is currently holding power through its puppet regime in the so-called White House.

To those threading the evolutionary path towards higher consciousness and greater selfless service to assist humanity's global awakening, a crucial test is being offered as a unique opportunity is before us to solidify the shift from the powerless, separate one-against-everything mind-set of an utter sense of loneliness to an infinitely prescient, perfectly balanced, universally loving heart-set of Oneness with All That Is. Like a tightrope walker feeling his/her way ahead while carefully crossing a precipitous chasm as gusts of wind and creeping self-doubts are playing on his/her sense of balance, we are being presented with a formidable challenge as our perceived "reality" of a political and planetary landscape fraught with forbidding dangers impinges upon our spiritual ability to see our way through the fog of outer circumstances, and keep our eyes on the ultimate goal of world harmony and spiritual unification of all living souls into a new era of peace on Earth.

It cannot be emphasized enough that we all have within our Selves the power to shift the entire planetary field of awareness away from fear into the blissful realm of loving kindness, a realm we have always been intrinsically part of but forgotten its existence through the testing experiences of incarnation, designed to make us learn Who We Really Are through karmically adjusted soul-prodding experimentations and interactions within this physical realm. As we collectively focus our attention tomorrow during yet another moment of global spiritual at-one-ment, in diligent service to the larger brother/sisterhood of mankind, it is essential, once we are past the trivial disturbances of ephemeral thoughts floating away from our core soul radiance, again free to shine unimpeded its multihued vibrations of Love, that we activate this Power That Be in us to shift - transcend - dissolve any possible feeling of fear from the hearts of all those who have the unique opportunity to make their voices heard in the voting booths across the beloved land called United States of America. And the means to trigger this global transmutation with repercussions all around the Earth is... FAITH!

Just as the faith that lets you feel confidently that, once you are asleep, you will indeed wake up to another day of existence; the faith that enables you to trust that everything we take for granted with ever hardly any second thought - the shining sun showering all living things with its endless energies, the blossoming flowers exciting our senses into a moment of awe, the laughing children reminding us that joy will always thrive in the far distant future - will indeed still be there this very next second, and on and on, until we reach the end of this lifetime; the faith that the pulse of Life that beats into your heart and runs through your every thought and conscious sensations will never fail you for as long as your time is not up in this material world, likewise we now are on the verge of discovering as One Unified Body of Love, that Faith can guide us to unveil unlimited powers of spiritual activation, if we can only trust with the same abandonment as when we go to sleep, enjoy the wonders of life and feel the tingling rising of our immortal Self, that Fear is No More, that Love, Peace and Harmony Prevail, that Oneness with All That Is vibrantly resonates throughout the Universe calling to us the One Presence that has never left us, simply waiting for our awakening, lovingly embracing our every thoughts without ever a single judgement, caressing our hairs at night while we let the angels take us to heaven.

Words are just words. It is the feeling tone they evoke within that matters...

Democracy Must Triumph, Not Fear (31 October 2004)

Terrorism is the use of force or the threat of force to make people - whether individuals or states - behave in a certain way. It depends on fear. And it often, though not always, works. Last week Osama bin Laden told the American people and their elected leaders that, if they did not behave in a certain way, serious consequences, involving massive loss of life and property, would follow. Given that, in almost the same breath, bin Laden claimed responsibility for 11 September, his threats, despite the massive efforts to ensure America's security in the past three years, are credible. Bin Laden's capacity to launch terror strikes is now limited, but he will be pleased with the impact he has made. His project has always been to radicalize those who have hitherto shunned his fanatical message. In this he is little different from any other revolutionary political activist. Yet, through the use of modern media, bin Laden now has the sort of global influence achieved by only some states and a few world figures. Early indications are, thankfully, that his impact on the US electorate has been limited. Both President George W Bush and his challenger, Senator John Kerry, have resisted the temptation to score partisan points in one of the most hotly contested elections in memory. However, victory depends on a few voters in a few key states. It is too early to discount the possibility that bin Laden's intervention could make a major, indeed historic, difference, something that would be hugely damaging for democracy everywhere. CLIP

Judge Bars Challengers From Polling Places (01 November 2004)

Dlott hands Republicans another legal setback. A federal judge in Cincinnati early today barred political party challengers at polling places throughout Ohio. In another legal setback for Republicans, U.S. District Judge Susan Dlott ruled that the presence of challengers inexperienced in the electoral process would impede voting on Tuesday. She ruled that application of Ohio's statute allowing challengers at polling places is unconstitutional. Dlott ruled on a lawsuit by a Cincinnati couple, Marian Spencer, a former Cincinnati city council member, and her husband Donald. The Spencers said Republican plans to deploy challengers to largely black precincts in Hamilton County was meant to intimidate and block black voters. CLIP

Reported in Saturday's Chicago Tribune:

95% of eligible Michigan voters are registered to vote in this election.
Ohio election boards and courts throw out the vast majority of Republican challenges to voter registrations.

A few weeks ago I was reading about the flood of voter registrations overwhelming registration staff and offices all around the nation.

Now there is the letter I am forwarding below below.

Have faith - picture the wonderful things we will do as progressive and populist candidates fill offices from the White House on down. Never stop holding on to that vision in the face of the fear that so many are attempting to use to sway us. Have faith and see what we are meant to do instead of what fear whispers they might do.

See the great jobs being created as windmills are put up all over the country and processing plants begin converting millions of tons of agricultural waste into vegetable oil fuels that are cleaner and more powerful than diesel, and carbon-neutral.

See yourself walking freely as our civil liberties are freed of the shackles of sneaky legislation and respect for our constitution is demanded from all quarters.

See the end of outsourcing as the tax code is re-written to make it better for corporations and businesses to keep their business operations here at home and health care is granted to all who need it.

See the end of aggression in US foreign policy as our domestic energy supply dwarfs and renders irrelevant imported oil, and businesses spring up all over the country to retrofit existing vehicles to run on biodiesel (vegetable oil-based) fuels, and manufacturers begin producing biodiesel-electric hybrids in new vehicles, vastly reducing the amount of carbon spewed into the atmosphere.

See true security for the United States as immigration and import shipments are actually inspected and controlled in a fair manner. As we keep a healthy manufacturing sector in our economy so that we can produce defensive war materiel in the event we are attacked, even as it becomes less likely we will be attacked when we stop starting wars for energy supplies and get our noses out of other nations' interests where it really doesn't affect us and isn't our business.

As our nation leads by example rather than force because our people overwhelmingly demand ethical policies at home and abroad. We are the land of the free, who have seen the land of empire crumble into the dust of history again and again, both before we came to exist and after. We have no need to follow down that road.

Our nation has incredible potential. It is up to us to invest in the politics of hope from the ground up rather than from the top down - and then remember that we the people are who are truly meant to govern this country. It's up to us to invest in the politics of hope tomorrow, and every day thereafter, every election thereafter. It is up to us to have the vision and the faith to allow it to happen. We must keep to the strength that has been attributed to our people for generations, the spirit of can-do and ingenuity we have been known for, the sense of fairness that is the legacy of the people of this country that have gone before. We must nurture that hope and vision and share it with our children and our politicians neither wavering nor yielding.

It is we the people of this country that must envision our hopes and dreams and devote our time and effort to them instead of to the fears so many attempt to invoke. That is how we will win - for ourselves and for the rest of the world.

If you think that sounds "corny," then maybe you are thinking the way those who want the vision of hope and success to crumble wish you to think.

Faith and positive vision are more powerful than fear ever could be. What you envision, you will become. Hold on to that positive vision in the face of anything and everything. The more of us that do so the better it will be for all of us.

This is not about religion, it's about a basic truth of life.

Received yesterday from a reader down in the trenches ...
Still in Florida.

This was one of the most moving, meaningful days of my life.

My job is to get people to the polls and, more importantly, to keep them there. Because they're crazily jammed. Crazily. No one expected this turnout. For me, it's been a deeply humbling, deeply gratifying experience. At today's early vote in the College Hill district of East Tampa -- a heavily democratic, 90% African American community - we had 879 voters wait an average of five hours to cast their vote. People were there until four hours after they closed (as long as they're in line by 5, they can vote).

Here's what was so moving:

We hardly lost anyone. People stood outside for an hour, in the blazing sun, then inside for another four hours as the line snaked around the library, slowly inching forward. It made Disneyland look like speed-walking. Some waited 6 hours. To cast one vote. And EVERYBODY felt that it was crucial, that their vote was important, and that they were important.

And there were tons of first time voters. Tons.

Aside from some hassles from the Republican election commissioner ( . [ed.note: Here the letter writer describes various shenanigans intended to exacerbate the difficulties of waiting hours in line to vote. I've censored this detail to preserve the anonymity of the writer.], I actually had an amazing experience. No, actually, in a way because of that I had an amazing experience. Because these people know that the system that's in place doesn't want them voting. And yet they are determined to vote.

The best of all was an 80 year old African American man who said to me: "When I first started I wasn't even allowed to vote. Then, when I did, they was trying to intimidate me. But now I see all these folks here to make sure that my vote counts. This is the first time in my life that I feel like when I cast my vote it's actually gonna be heard."

To see people coming out - elderly, disabled, blind, poor; people who have to hitch rides, take buses, etc - and then staying in line for hours and hours and hours... Well, it's humbling. And it's awesome. And it's kind of beautiful.

Sometimes you forget what America is.

I think there's hope.

In New York Harbor stands Lady Liberty, the Statue of Liberty, a magnificent gift from our French friends. Her upraised torch still invites the Heavens to pour down their energies of freedom. The torch’s flame has been dimmed since January, 2001, but not extinguished!

Will you imagine a torch within your heart that is the Light, Love, and Power of the Creator? On Nov. 2, will you use the hands of your imagination to reach deep within this torch of your heart to gather a precious flame? Will you fly in your imagination to New York Harbor and drop that flame into the Lady’s torch of liberty and freedom? You may see untold numbers of your global neighbors there doing the same. A Shift in Survival Systems

A lot of people are feeling a sense of dread at the idea that Bush might win the election. They perceive what he has done in the past four years, and probably will do in the future if given the chance, has and will continue to, put this country and the larger world situation, in an increasingly dangerous position that could escalate into something hugely catastrophic.

I think this is a crossroads time, just as it was when 9-11 occurred. It is again an opportunity to shift our concept of where the source of power and safety comes from.

9-11 burst the bubble, at least for the moment, of where actual safety comes from. Before then those of us in the United States lived under the belief that those in charge of our intelligence and various government services could protect us from the kind of major danger much of the rest of the world experiences. When 9-11 occurred that belief was shattered, for a period of time.

Many people in the spiritual community believe, at least in theory, that our source of power and safety comes from the Divine. But we daily live our lives really believing that it is the human authorities, outside of ourselves, who actually have the power and are in control of our lives. And so we are upholding that paradigm.

Many of us are understanding more and more clearly how we are manifesting our experience of reality, creating empowering or disempowering circumstances in our lives. But we are not seeing the actual ground we are standing on, which of course is always difficult to do. Some of us are thinking in terms of manifesting by focusing in prayer or meditation on Kerry being in office, or something along those lines. This is helpful in that it is much better to focus on what we do want, rather than what we don't. But if it's done in the framework of an authority figure having the power to determine our personal or global well-being, we are giving our power away.

What leads is internal change, not external change. External circumstances follow internal change. Our relationship with the larger picture depends totally and only upon ourselves. Perceived authorities get their power by others leaning on them to define reality. Very few people directly define their experience of reality for themselves. Throughout history it has been one authority source or another. We live in a conceptual world, as defined from outside ourselves, rather than one of direct personal experience. We have built our forms for survival and well-being based on exterior definitions of how it is done, which holds in place certain static forms of behavior. This keeps people from rocking the common boat of perceived experience.

The world as we know it is changing. The energies appear to be polarizing. We can allow these energies to pull us into a black spiral, down into our worst fears, or allow them to catapult us into a new, more evolved paradigm of reality, and with it, a new survival system. It is like a baby bird being pushed out of its nest in order to realize it can actually fly.

You could say the choice is, who are we going to give the control to. Is it going to be a human, fallible, limited source outside of ourselves, or is it going to be a larger Divine source, accessed from within ourselves? Apparently most of humanity feels much more out of control if the Divine source is in charge, than we do if it's a human source outside of ourselves, which we somehow become accustomed to or tolerate. Or if we can't, perhaps we leave the country. Or if the human authorities are in enough alignment with ourselves, we tread water in that reality for a time until some catastrophe occurs. Giving over the control to the Divine seems to be humanity's last resort when a catastrophe becomes large enough.

Life is meant to work; and it does work within here-and-now reality, which is where the Divine is in charge. But unconscious "limiting decisions" (unhealed issues), made early in life, block access to present moment experience in the areas of those decisions. Until they are healed, these disempowering and dysfunctional decisions (such as we're powerless, stupid, abandoned, unlovable, etc.) distort our interpretation of reality, making it very difficult to function in life.

And so we develop constructs of our selves that feel more powerful, that allow us to function while being removed from present moment experience. And then we pressure each other to perceive reality in a way that upholds these constructs. This is true on a personal relationship level, all of the way up to how we influence, or are influenced, on a global level, affecting global perception.

Coming into present moment awareness exposes these constructs as unreal. Therefore really coming into the present moment is a very radial act. It is not contained by any external structure. It is what it is, outside of human control. The full empowerment of our God-selves is accessed in the here-and-now. It is like going through the proverbial "eye of the needle." No one who is functioning from that place can be controlled by another. It is the place where one's higher guidance is accessed, guiding each step we take.

Learning to come into the present moment oneself is very important. But learning to come into the present moment in relationship with other people, in a small aligned group, is even more powerful. And doing that in a way that taps into living Divine energy is the most powerful, as it guides our transformation and evolution into a new and continuously evolving paradigm, beyond the influence of dysfunctional consciousness. And so what this is about is a radical change of survival systems, which is what my work is about.

It is difficult to uphold a whole new paradigm of reality by oneself, or to even conceive of what it is, without the support of an aligned group. We need to start coming together to uphold a new reality.

I am looking for aligned peers to come together with me in a group, to do this work. In addition, as a part of my counseling practice, I am expanding my group work to include groups along these lines. This next stage of my work is to facilitate people into coming into and evolving this new paradigm in the context of here-and-now interaction with the living material and dynamics happening between participants.

"As I now envisage the economies of love of the future, social merits - not money - will be earned by those who apply themselves to the most efficient, technologically appropriate way of providing everyone in the community with their food, shelter and other material needs. Where there are surpluses they will be traded, with-out profit in mind, for other forms of surplus from other communities or the surpluses may be gifted to communities not so well endowed with resources - gifted not out of charity so much as from sound common sense, to maintain the peace and to encourage return gifts of immeasurable cultural worth.

"The subsistence base to the economies of love of the future should not require more than an average 20 hours a week of disciplined, measured for merit work by all able-bodied men and women from the age of 15 to 50. The discipline of duty here - of giving what is due for subsistence - will only be embraced by the new, emerging humanity, not as an end in itself, but as the needed support base for treasured free play, schooling, creativity and love making. And when it comes to the sharing of gifts, those that have earned the merits for it, as providers, will quite naturally be favoured.

"As a final observation: the economies of love of the future will flounder through indulgence if the measured discipline of work and the immeasurable worth of play, schooling, creativity and love making are not appreciated as the means to more and more exquisite, transcendental experiences, leading into a final victory over material necessity, in bodies that no longer know the call of disease or death.

"We are at a turning point in human consciousness. Our breakthrough into an astounding global love story beyond the neurosis of history is assured! How it will come about is impossible to tell. More than likely there will be a cosmic event involved, that might be called divine intervention. But I believe, along the line of the hundredth monkey principle, that this will only happen as enough people say "Yes" to Love's Non-violent Revolution for an end to global money madness and the beginning of a genuinely good life in discipline and freedom."

Dearest Jean,

Thanks for the beautiful meditation this week and for all that you do for us.

I hope you are well and happy. Many changes are on their way...

Here are my thoughts...

One of my teachers says, we all have a light seed and a dark seed within us. And when we use positive words and energy, are loving and hopeful and optimistic, we water the light seed, which then helps us to create more light and what we want of the light vibration.

When we see and talk about the negative, the horrors, all that is wrong in the world, what someone else is doing wrong, etc, we actually strengthen the dark seed and help create more of it. We tangle with it and it becomes tangled with us... and stays longer than it needs.

Which do we really want? Can we turn our heads away from the illusion of the dark seed so we can focus solely on the illusion of the light? Can we stop feeding the dark seed and let it wither away from lack of nourishment so that the light may grow more strongly and quickly without impediment? Can we bring our awareness keenly to those times we think we are acting in the light but in truth are watering that dark seed? Can we realize that fighting the dark seed only perpetuates it, whether we fight it with words or with bombs?

Let's create a world we want from the seed of light within each of us!

May all be given the gift of discernment to know the truth and the light and the good from other choices.

May all those with hidden intentions working within the top echelons of power be transformed to know the true Spirit of love within and begin to act according to that Spirit.

May all beings honor political and religious freedom for all, so that we may all live in peace and harmony.

May we welcome with open minds and hearts and arms, any brothers that are different than we, embracing that difference for the joy and the beauty of the Creation it represents, whether that difference is for religion, culture, ethnicity or species, looking to that time when our star brethren will make themselves known to us.

May those beings with clouded eyes, begin to see the truth; may those souls with covered souls begin to hear the truth.

May all of us who look to others as wrong or dark, look first within our own hearts and bring to the light and love our own inner darkness that we are seeing outside ourselves in another.

May the soul correct these perceptions with light and with love.

May all who believe in death, remember the truth of life eternal.

May all who feel alone love someone.

May all who can, help another.

May all who are captive bless their captors knowing release is near.

May all those perpetrating acts upon another being in the light of fulfilling karma, receive enough light and love within their own soul to act only in the greatest kindness and love honoring the freedom and integrity of all others.

May all changes occur smoothly and easily with great gentleness and love allowing each being to know its truth within their own hearts.

With forgiveness, we all let go of the past and create a new reality of peace, harmony and unconditional love for all.

By focusing continually on what we want to see, hear, and experience, we create this new reality now in light in love in peace and in freedom.
